The smell coming from the bathroom had to be the worst part. It wasn't that it was anything new, not anymore, but his nose was so damn sensitive now. Like a constant reminder of what had happened and what was to come, Jamie was sure this smell would continue to linger.
"This is awful..." he muttered to himself, hanging close to Shiloh. Some wanted to leave and some wanted to search, but jamie wasn't quite sure what to do yet. He was still gathering his bearings.
If he could be of any help, though... While he hated to interrupt anyone (he was too socially awkward for that), he was close enough to Lily and America to hear the question. It immediately called back memories of the Prideful One and what he'd called them. They were moonwalkers, apparently, though he still didn't really know what that meant.
"That..." he started before he could stop himself, and he looked embarrassed, but it would've been even more embarrassing to stop, "...was what we were called..." he told America awkwardly.-- Jamie DelacroixHP: 20/20

"Detective Mercer. There are multiple hostiles on premise. Whatever is affecting our initial subject may also be contagious. Do not let anyone get bit."Jeremiah glanced down at the radio and answered. "Roger that, Sergeant Kuroda." The detective lieutenant was watching from the ruined doorway, eyes glancing towards Algie and then the others. "If the radio wasn't clear, do not let yourself be bitten by any of the rogues." Not that he wasn't totally listening to the conversations going in on the room. Not. At. All. THE ENTIRETY OF PURPLE TEAM

She gave the bunny fellow a small smile, "It's a nice name. Thanks hun." Poor guy didn't look comfortable at all. Quote: Text to: sunny omg you knew <3 ill be careful as i can you stay safe too ok She inhaled to share the warning with the room, but the radio did it for her. Nodding sharply, America let out her breath in a bit gust of air. Her bird huh? Despite the jokes about bears and the cuteness of Cerby and Miss So ********' Fluffy You Could Die, she found herself grinning at the idea. It fit. It was right. And it was around here. Taking another breath, the girl focused on a piece of ceiling and then unfocused, trying to find that daydream drift that allowed her mind, and now her sight, to wander freely and reach out toward... shibrogane Using warg 1/2 and ty for sunny always

Considering Jamie had just managed a tiny smile at America in return without totally avoiding eye contact, something he was actually proud of, the information that came over the radio next was a rather unfortunate blow to his pride. "Contagious?" he repeated, shoulders drooping. It was obvious Detective Mercer hadn't meant him or Lily when he warned about the rouges, but it still stung a bit, anyway. It reminded Jamie about what he was. That was going to happen a lot, he could already tell.
"He never told us that..." Jamie muttered. Then again, the Prideful One hadn't told them much at all, nor had anyone else for that matter.-- Jamie DelaxcroixHP: 20/20

Jeremiah caught that look. It was hard not to, the detective was observant. "Yes, that likely means if anyone gets bitten they'll start to transform and it won't be like what you went through, I assume." The tall detective walked over to Jamie, gun long since reholstered, and looked at him. His expression shifted, no longer neutral and blue-green eyes not hard as they had been. "When I say rogues," he looked towards Lily and then back to Jamie, "I do not mean either of you. You two you came into this naturally." So he suspected. "There are going to be people here that were attacked and then transforming. We are going to do our best to stop them from hurting others and themselves if we can. That sound alright with you?" Then he paused. "What do you mean he did not tell you that?"

Eyes already glued to the dirty floor, Jamie didn't immediately give the detective his direct attention. His shoulders shifted, it was obvious he was listening, but he still wasn't ready to make eye contact.
"I-I know, sir..." he assured, though it was a weak attempt. Only now did he chance looking up. Even standing on his bunny tip-toes, he was very, very short.
"Oh, um..." There was obvious hesitation in his voice as his eyes left Jeremiah again and slid to the side where he didn't have to feel quite as awkward. "I meant..." Did the detective know about the Other Ashdown? Who here did and who didn't? Jamie had know way of knowing and the thought of sounding crazy made him nervous. "The, uh, the Prideful One..." he finally admitted. His foot thumped nervously. "He told us what we were and what we had to do... sort of. A-And then he sent us here from, um... where we were."-- Jamie DelaxcroixHP: 20/20

"Yes but you have to be aware of that and that I will do my best to keep people safe." Jeremiah gave Jamie a smile - a rare reassuring smile - and crouched down. It put him a little below Jamie's height but it would achieve the effect he wanted. "Which means I don't want either of you bitten even if it won't do anything to you." Then, of course, there was the information about the Prideful One. "You met him?" A breath was let out. "I've met his sibling, the Peaceful One. It's name is Pax." Which was an easy way to admit he had been in other ashdown. "In the forest on the other side." Jeremiah Mercer // HP: 20

With coaxing, Jamie's eyes found their way back to Jeremiah. It was hard not to want to smile when someone else smiled at him, so he tried, and it was pretty pathetic, but it was something. At least he was trying.
And at least now he had his answer. It still felt a bit uncomfortable to talk about the world that felt more like a dream than reality, but if Detective Mercer could understand where he was coming from, maybe it was safe to say more.
"It um... it was big and golden with black antlers," he explained, even if that part wasn't necessary. "I-It said its sibling wanted us safe. That's... Pax?" he asked, trying to understand just as much as Jeremiah was likely trying to learn. Closing his eyes, Jamie tried to remember everything they'd been told. "It said we had to, um, find our brother before he disappears. B-Before the moon sets." Then Jamie's stomach sank as he remembered exactly what had worried him the most about the Prideful One's words. "It said we had to prevent a disaster..."-- Jamie DelaxcroixHP: 20/20

"It could be Pax, it could be it's other sibling. There's three of them." Jeremiah made a mental note about what the Prideful One looked like. He was blinking a bit at the information that Jamie delivered. "That is probably the man that transformed earlier," he let out a breath, "but you're saying that it said you had until moonset?" A hand was raked through his hair, eyes glancing over to the others in the room. Blue-green eyes focused on his husband. "We've got to find the one that started all of this before moonset or we may have some other incident occur." TEAM PURPLE BECAUSE I AM LAZY Jeremiah Mercer // HP: 20

There was a lot Jamie didn't know about Other Ashdown and learning that the stag they'd seen had not one, but two siblings only made the world feel larger; bigger and more mysterious in ways that only made it seem scarier. What was that place exactly? What had happened to him and his Pack? Jamie wanted to know, but he felt helpless as he continued to grasp at mental straws.
"I-It... must've been. I would've been really, r-really scared if I had been alone like that..." Jamie let out a small sigh. "That's, um, that's all I know. I think. I-If I remember anything else I'll let you know."-- Jamie DelaxcroixHP: 20/20

Upon entering, Shiloh's lip immediately curled. Face turned into a slight grimace, he didn't flinch—instead his eyes darted around, scoped out the area... they seemed to be alone (as far as the monster was concerned), but damn if it hadn't been in here. He took a deep breath as everyone filtered out to investigate. Maybe he should too? Uh... where should he even start.
His eyes caught a light switch on the far side of the room, and for a second he felt like switching it off and on before he realized now definitely wasn't the time. When he turned his attention back to Jamie, he was gone.
Or well, not really, but he had scuttled away to speak with a rather tall fellow.
"The... prideful one? Peaceful one?" he was late to the conversation, but inserted himself in anyway, completely lost in the talk the two were having. "The other side?"
He was listening to Jamie's description, equal parts memorized and baffled. He hated being left in the dark like this... but it looked like that just happened to be where he stood. It just made him feel so goddamn useless and pointless.
"Uh, sorry..." Shiloh wasn't usually so apologetic, but he was on some of his better behavior for Jamie's sake, not to mention his self-esteem was starting to buckle and cripple under the weight of his inadequacy.
Maybe he'd get a chance to do something. His hand in his pockets nervously fidgeted with the exacto-knife there; which by the way, he was still a little baffled about. Musta' been left over from one of his projects. It wasn't like he wore this jacket all the time. It was bright and green and honestly, while he loved color, he tended to try and blend in most times. Not that now was the time to dwell on it, but—...
He really should stay here, but part of him wanted to take off after the beasts. Maybe he didn't stand a chance—okay, he definitely didn't stand a chance—but what was the worst that could happen? He bit his lip and looked around the bathroom again.

"I think it also did not help because he was not on the other side with the rest of you." Jeremiah reached out a hand and pressed it to Jamie's shoulder and gave it a reassuring squeeze before he was standing up. "Thank you for telling me that. My name is Jeremiah Mercer, by the way. I'm a Detective Lieutenant with the Ashdown Police." He was looking over to Algie and gave his lover a shoulder shrug. It wasn't specifically his fault. Not this time. Unless he still on about the fact that he had lured him to the U. S. In which case he had no regrets and merely winked at the silvering brunette. Blue-green eyes went to Shiloh and Jeremiah shook his head at him. "This is not an ideal situation for any of us and you reacted. Just remember that if you want to look out for others, to protect them," because he definitely noticed how Shiloh was acting around Jamie, "you need to think first about what your actions might do and how they could affect the people you are trying to protect." Jeremiah gave him a wry grin. "That is speaking from personal experience."
