"That is correct, I entered Special Operations directly," Leucite said with a small nod. "But, it is not how branches are run now. I believe I had proven my skills and value to be placed in Special Operations, another individual who was brought in with me, a doctor - and thus having an entirely different skill set did not come into Special Operations, even though we were both brought in at the same time."

"I feel that due to being in Special Operations since I was a Lieutenant, I have been able to better serve the Negaverse and its goals than if I were to say... 'find myself.' I doubt very much I would have fit well in any other branch." Leucite said, keeping his gaze on the General Queen as he spoke.

He kept his thoughts to himself for now, but he could already feel his jaw beginning to tighten and set as he kept his posture square and respectful. But for now, he managed to keep his pride in check.

General Schörl

It was heartening, after so long, to see another officer and see them promoted and doing well. She'd been a captain when she had crossed paths with the then-Lieutenant Leucite, and here he was a General. Still finely cut in figure.

"General Leucite is not unusual. It was in 2012 that General-Queen Laurelite and the General Sovereigns of the time, Apatite, Tanzanite, Zinkenite, Generals Howlite and Uranophane, among others, announced that Recruitment would be 'based entirely on what a prospective lieutenant can offer our forces.' Lieutenants were brought in, then, to fulfill service directly to a branch. "

Policy is a matter of record.
Surely this is in Infos somewhere, or from Laurelite herself the new Queen, when in that very meeting Beryl was so conspicuously absent? An act of ignorance and surprise to test us on our knowledge of policy is bad taste in front of the lower ranks. Unless the aim is to undermine any authority we have impressed on them, and redirect it to yourself, Hessonite? Wouldn't that be contentious, destructive and entertaining.

"In the months following, the heads conducted an audit with interpersonal, individual meetings to ascertain if placements were correct as already performed. If they happened after for new recruits, it was never publicized. " It had taken until March the following year, and a further promotion of Howlite to General-King, but Schörl as a Lieutenant had answered the summons of Evaluation. And had made it a point in in the instances she'd been involved in corruption and awakening to have an idea of the exactly usefulness for the prospective new cog.

Half Youma General Cinnabar

Cinnabar watched with interest as the General Queen singled out Leucite, faintly amused to see a muscle shift in his jaw at what could sound to some like a rebuke. It was an odd thing, to the newer General, to think that lieutenants were sorted so early, but that had been before her time.

Schörl, showing that fine memory of hers, supplied the answer for why that had once been the operation.

"I have been an officer for two and a half years now." Cinnabar said as she drew her eyes away from Schörl to focus on the sovereign she was addressing. "When I was recruited, I was placed in Gen Ops and then had to apply to a superior officer of the division I wished to join. I was fortunate that my own General was Spec Ops, so the transition was smooth. I was formally placed in Spec Ops after my Captain promotion. I never tried another branch, but no other branch appealed to me. I don't have the temperament for Infil or Infos."

"As far as I'm aware, this is still how new recruits are handled. I brought two lieutenants today to learn more about the branch they are inclined to join." The half youma said as she nodded across the way at the two that had come with her.

General Jarosite

"I... want to say I was a captain long before the branch became a thing here. I went into SpecOps on my own choice when they were first announced." The idea of 'shopping around' for a branch, when they'd never quite seemed to be all that interesting to begin with. He'd had to pick one, so he did, but even that had been sort of a 'well this is all I'm good at so...' choice.

Jarosite shrugged his shoulders at the sovereign, content to watch what she'd do. Would Hessonite evict the current members of SpecOps for "personal growth", and to instill her own people in place of power? Metallia was already quite happy to do that without any help from Destiny City's own agents. He kept his expression neutral, even as he suspected otherwise.

After all, all Jarosite was good for was fighting anyway. If he was removed... didn't need a branch to do that.

Lieutenant Huntite

Huntite's eyes roamed over the different officers as they arrived and/or introduced themselves to the General Queen. He paused on a few here and there, namely General Leucite and Lieutenant Stibnite. When Stibnite joined him over in the Lieutenant section he gave her a small smile and a nod in return then turned his attention back to the meeting. In doing so, he completely missed Lieutenant Violane's disinterested look in his and Stibnite's direction.

When Hessonite asked about how the branches worked here in Destiny City, Huntite couldn't help but be curious about the answer as well. He hadn't gotten the change to ask Benitoite about the branches and he wasn't clear if it was a new thing that the Lieutenants couldn't join the SpecOps branch or not. That was quickly answered though when Leucite and General Schörl spoke up to clarify a bit more.

General Xenotime

Violet brows twitched at the question focusing on Leucite and his induction into the branch at such an early stage. That it seemed odd to the new general-queen was unusual to her. Considering how they had been directed to seek out new recruits, those same new soldiers finding placement quickly just made since.

Stepping forward with the rest of the generals that had spoke, Xenotime clasped her hands at the small of her back, maintaining a careful and considerate posture before speaking herself. "It has been widely advised to us as generals to seek out potential recruits based on the skill sets they have to offer, particularly in filling rolls within the branches themselves. Some do fall into GenOps, but a considerable number remain in the branches they are selected for or groomed to do well in."

A twitch of silver eyes took in her own officers, then flicked back to the general-queen. "The majority of the agents under my handling were selected because they show a similar promise in fighting aptitude, or pick up such skills through vigorous training." Her agents, for the most part, were meant for this branch, because Xenotime herself was meant for this branch.

Lieutenant Natrolite - Observing

Hessonite singled out a general and s**t got interesting. It was news to him that at one point you could just stroll into a branch and essentially become part of it. But the news didn't really upset him, just sparked curiosity about how well handled things here really were. Lips stretched into a wide smile as Xenotime spoke up, curling at the corners hard with the womans words. Did she just compliment him? Yes. Yes she did and even if she didn't mean to he was taking it. So he showed promise in fighting aptitude huh? That was damn right at least, though he wasn't about to take on more training just to get into this branch. The lieutenant figured he was doing more than enough of that lately.

Natrolite shifted and arms moved to fold up under his chest as he listened to the conversations going on, eyes shifting to the other lieutenants on the left side of the room. None of them looking to overly interested in the meeting it would seem, but what did he know. Blues flickered back to the General Queen and rested there waiting for her word on the matter at hand, wondering if she would potentially kick the agents out whom hadn't explored other options or if they were slated in now.

Lt. Carminite -- observing

His eyes flickered across the room to General Leucite, the only familiar face at that point, when he was singled out. Being so new he wasn't at all familiar with how joining the branches worked, so he was a little surprised that the man got pointed out for apparently doing things a little differently. Not that he had any business speaking, but he was a little curious now to say the least. So far it seemed like the general sovereigns he'd encountered were new to the specific scene here in Destiny City, which was probably what warranted all the meetings (which were still a godsend, as far as he was concerned), so it made sense that they ask questions about how things were done before they were brought in. It was maybe just a little disconcerting to see the man that saved his life squirm, if only slightly, under the scrutiny.

Carminite let his eyes fall back on the General Queen, watched her reaction as other generals spoke up to explain a bit further. Each has their own experience, each a little different...had he joined any earlier it might have confused him just a little, so he was grateful for the structure that was now being set up. He wasn't entirely a leap before you look kind of guy, especially not when it came to something like this.

Lt. Stibnite

Single nods were all the acknowledgment the woman gave to the other Lieutenants that joined around her. But her eyes never left the General Queen as she eyed her General.

Interesting. How things have changed and in truth, it interested her. But Stibnite knew all too well where Leucite had chosen her for. She was a trained hunter and skilled in many weapons. Her rank only betrayed her time in the Negaverse.

Crossing her arms under her chest, she let her eyes shift around the room at the other Generals and Captains. Very interesting...and where was this Painite? Or who might have been another question. Many of those here she had at least heard of the name and who they were so seeing them was not a surprise. Though to be honest, she had not expected to see a Half Youma General. Cinnabar...what the heck was the woman wearing? Or not wearing might have been the better question...

Captain Raite:

The fact that this meeting began so soon after their last meeting with the new Queen Laurelite was unpleasant to say the least. To be honest, he had no desire to be here as their last mission had given him enough exposure to the negaverse. He would have preferred to teleport home and be done with this entirely. But their new general sovereigns seemed to be a bit more.. involved. Whether that proved to unite or divide their ranks further would be seen. When General Hessonite spoke and began to explain her intentions, Raite offered no reaction. He had no opinion of their new General Queen quite yet. Apart from the order she instilled, her talents and personality and leadership were all in question. His gray eyes held no illusions of her personality, even if she seemed to be smiling and welcoming.

He would have clearly stated, if asked, "My name is Captain Raite. I was initially recruited by the former General-Queen Laurelite in Italy before migrating to Destiny City. I've been with the negaverse for a few years now," He didn't care about the specifics, "My specialties lie in battle combat, fluency in several languages, and technology."

He had an inkling that he might be approached soon with concerns of his long period as a captain. Though he had progressed quickly from lieutenant to captain, he himself had never felt compelled to involve himself further into the chaos. While willing to perform horrendous and brutal acts for the organization, he had yet to decide if he wanted to open his heart further to the chaos that would undoubtedly make him more vulnerable to Metallia and the Queen's insinuations and ideals. But he was wise enough not to speak of that.

Leaning against the wall, he stayed quiet to her next query: "How many of you tried another branch first?” Her question, while practical, did not apply to the captain specifically. If nothing else, he was a person very sure of himself and his capabilities. It would have been nothing but a waste of time to attempt the other branches.

The Space Cauldron
I hadn't realized this thread started already so apologies for my late entrance.. and it seemed a bit difficult to wedge his introduction into the current time, so you can handwave his introduction to before her query (to when everybody else was doing intros) if you'd like~

Lieutenant Bloodstone - observing

Bloodstone made sure to leave the Intelligence division meeting in enough time to make it to General Queen Hessonite’s meeting and introduction. She was right down to business, which he thought he could like. She knew what she wanted and was not afraid to tell them exactly what it took to join the division. That was fine by Bloodstone. He knew only the most experienced would be accepted under her wing.

There were plenty of experienced Captains and Generals speaking up to introduce themselves, and Bloodstone tried his best to keep track of their names, although with how many were in the Negaverse, he doubted he would be able to memories them all. They all seemed to be quite intelligent individuals, which was almost ironic seeing as they were working for the Special Ops instead of Intelligence. Perhaps it was a different kind of intelligence needed for those who actually collected information.

Nevertheless, Bloodstone was inwardly impressed by the introductions being given. Many voiced their combat experience, skills in technology, languages, aptitude for fighting, and so much more. This was definitely a division not to be trifled with. And with more and more joining and growing in the ranks, it was only a matter of time before the senshi and knights who populated the city would be wiped out.

Hessonite nodded at the responses, not seeming pleased, though not seeming too unhappy. At least some of those who had jumped headfirst in to special operations did not seem to be too badly off. Most of them seemed to be generals now, so that was something at least. “Well. Thank you all for your contributions to my personal information base, now. I think it’s time I took a few minutes to talk to my lovely group of lieutenants that I have her. My generals, what a lovely little bunch of coconuts you’ve brought with you. Well done indeed.”

Her eyes roamed over the bunch of lieutenants, all bunched up and she held out a finger, pointing first at a tall one, dressed in camouflage print, then pointing at a girl dressed in black with multicolored hair, teal and white who was standing next to him. Finally, she pointed at a white haired girl who looked…absolutely bored and disinterested. It was almost amusing, how a lieutenant could be so bored. And while she was talking. The nerve.

“You three. Come here. I need you for a…demonstration. You’ll be my bright little…” She searched for a word, seeming thoughtful. “Well. My bright little darlings, how about that?” The General Queen flashed a wicked smile and tossed back her dark red hair. “Come on. Come on up little ones. Don’t be shy.”

It was time to show the lieutenants just what being in Special Operations entailed. It was time to see if they had it in them, or if they would put their tails between their legs and flee. She was assuming that most of them would flee. The generals and captains, no. They wouldn’t bat an eye, not if they were really invested in this branch, and she was quite sure that most of them were.

It was good to know. At least something in this city's branch of the Negaverse was going right.

"Oh, I have no doubt it'll be interesting. I just hope it doesn't drag on too long considering it looks like we've been put off to the side to be out of the way." She replied quietly to Chalcopyrite. Her eyes never really leaving the gathering of Captains and Generals in the room as they gathered about the General Queen.

As she had expected, the meeting was proving to be interesting. Immediately it seemed some feathers were being ruffled as Hessonite questioned General Leucite. Violane could see the tenseness in the General’s body as he defended himself and his position within the branch. In fact, as the conversation went on, it appeared that what the General Queen had thought was appropriate for joining branches was not at all what had been occurring. The norm, up to this point, seemed to be that Lieutenants were allowed to choose or were ‘farmed’ for specific branches.

Interesting indeed. Apparently things were not run the same in other cities. She wondered if maybe each city had it’s own way of doing things or if there was suppose to be certain protocols followed and this one ignored them? Well, that would certainly be something to look into in the future, if only for curiosity’s sake. Maybe she could learn a few things that would become useful in the future.

Arms crossed in front of her, Violane watched as her own General Cinnabar spoke up and gave her input on the matter. A few others put in their input as well and Violane listened carefully to any differences there were. Seems things have changed quite a bit. She mused.

Violane was highly surprised though when the General Queen turned her attention upon the grouping of Lieutenants. She had very much expected to be ignored throughout the meeting. Ignored and expected to soak in as much information they could. Hessonite pointed out two Lieutenants before her eyes and finger pointed to Violane herself. Raising a brow, the white-haired Lieutenant unfolded her arms and separated herself from the group to walk towards the General Queen.

Little ones? Violane scoffed at the term as she stood before Hessonite. It took a great deal of willpower to keep herself from saying anything that probably would end well for her. Violane may not much like being treated as a powerless being but she wasn’t stupid enough to pick a fight with someone who could very likely kill her with little trouble.

“Lieutenant Violane. Recruited by General Cinnabar.” She introduced herself. Not sure exactly what protocol was at this point but decided to follow the Captain and General’s actions when they had approached the General Queen.

Lieutenant Huntite

While he had been paying attention while Hessonite was speaking, he paid even closer attention when she spoke of talking to his fellow Lieutenants and himself. When he was pointed at and asked to come to the front along with Stibnite and one other young woman, he raised an eyebrow and moved to do as he was asked. Calling them 'little' almost got a chuckle out of him, though he smothered that impulse so that his amusement only showed up in his eyes if one looked, and waited to see what it was the General Queen called them up for.

"Lieutenant Huntite, at your service." He said after Violane introduced herself, giving a respectful nod to Hessonite. He didn't mention who he was recruited by and honestly would give Benitoite's name instead if he was asked since the young General was who he had given his loyalty to.

Others began to sound off with their experiences and Cinnabar listened with only half an ear. For the most part, she didn't really care how someone had made it into Special Operations. What did the past matter? Now was what was important. There were a few things of note though; primarily, how much older in service most of the generals were to herself. With her bare three years, she had half the experience of most of them... but she liked to think it said something, that she had risen to general in a year and a half.

Secondly... some of the generals had been groomed for their roles, or were grooming their own subordinates. It made her wonder, for the contrast with her own methods. Rather than choose to fill a role, she had assessed the person recruited for any potential, and would allow them to find the role they would fit best. She had to wonder, which method would prove to be most valuable... but there had to be something to be said for not overlooking someone just because they might not have the same skill set she did. Neither Idrialite nor Chalcopyrite seemed prime Spec Op material on the surface, but both could serve Metallia's goals well, with the right training and in the branch that fit them best.

When Hessonite turned her attention away from the captains and generals, Cinnabar pulled herself out of her thoughts. A slim finger pointed and her eyes narrowed as Violane became one of the ones called forward. Her interest was perked immediately, wondering what the General Queen had in mind and how her brand new recruit might handle it. There had not been time for much training, so Violane was very much on her own here, and the way the General Queen had suddenly switched to a sweeter method of talking... calling them 'little ones' and 'my bright little darlings', suggested perhaps this was to be something ironically unpleasant or trying.

Cinnabar rocked back on her heels as she lifted her head, her hands slipping deep into her pockets.

Be your clever self, Violane. Show the General Queen you were not a mistake.
