Varinia receives 0 dmg.Nilah44 He literally can't do anything right. =w= Frustration hit him like a bag of bricks. And not because as he stepped away, the bladed tip of her spear swung around and caught him in the shoulder. He staggered a step, then touched a hand to the shallow, but still very present cut marring his pretty blue skin. Tes glanced to the thin spatter of blood on his fingers and back at her. He hadn't imagined it. That look in her eyes was the very faintest look of pity.
And Tes did not want or need that look.
Narrowing his eyes, he lurched forward again.

He had narrowed his eyes at her and came at her again but this time too, she was ready. Vari jumped to the side and followed up with a thrust towards his torso.

It was one thing when they were dancing around each other, putting on a reasonable show for the onlookers, but another thing entirely when it went on and beyond what Teslaron was prepared for. She was actually getting hits in now, and as he took one that managed to knock the wind out of him, Tes decided he wasn't up for drawing this out much longer. He grunted and stepped away from her.
Getting frustrated would do him no good (not that he could help it), but he didn't like to lose, and losing in front of a crowd was only ten times as terrible. A frown tugged at his lips as he threw the blade in her direction and dove in to follow it with his fist.

Varinia's teeth clenched as she had no option but to dive to the side, recovered on a knee before striking again. If she could just keep this up, she could whittle down her stronger opponent.

Varinia receives 8 dmg.She was much more on her game than she had been at the start. And Teslaron was growing impatient. On some level he knew he should at least try to be more careful. He didn't like getting hurt, and it wouldn't do him any favors in the long run, but he didn't care. He was ready for this to be over and if taking her little shots left her open for a larger attack, then maybe it was worth it. He didn't have any interest in going on like this forever.

Were all Matorian's like this? Varinia had to wonder. Perhaps the years of ill-treatment had dome something good for the race at least. He was just taking her hits, small as though they may be. He was a tank, and she had to admit it was somewhat admirable. But it was making her lose her game. He kept coming after her and this time she wasn't quite as ready. After she took that hit she took a few moments to gather herself again. She could do this if she just kept focusing.

Varinia receives 6.5 dmg.There was a brief instant, amidst all the more wild attacking, dodging, and half-hitting, where Tes found his opening. His most recent advance on her had nicked- not a powerful blow, by any means, but perhaps still enough to throw them both into a reset. Because by a narrow margin, he'd managed to evade her counter, and despite the battle clearly wearing on both of them, this particular development did make him feel a fraction better. He slid toward her again, twisting in his efforts to shove his elbow into her throat.

Her opponent seemed to have renewed energy after his last attack, as if he were sapping her own energy as she felt herself moving more sluggishly than she had before. His elbow came towards her and Vari turned to take the brunt with her shoulder before pushing out back at him with the length of her spear to give herself some space, though she did do it with as much strength as she could muster at the time.

Varinia receives 5.5 dmg.They were both slowing. What had been anger and frustration only moments prior was dwindling to a more muted dissatisfaction. He could take her hits. He knew he could, but at this point, it was starting to seem less and less like he could afford to. Even if it dragged the battle on longer, he had to start thinking 'smarter' and tame his annoyance.
And an annoyance it was.
He grunted as he scrubbed the end of his scarf down his face, then flicked the fabric over his shoulder as he eyed the Fire woman before him. Both cut, bruised and dirty from the shifting sands beneath them, and both worn. "Aren't you ready to give up, yet?"
