Moments later, the fence opened to reveal America with a chagrined little smile. "Sorry 'bout that. Doesn't look like there's any angry puppies running about." She sounded a little let down along with any relief. "But I do smell a pool."

Hell, Chel was just happy she hadn't been ditched. "Kinda wish there was. Dogs are cute." She'd always related better to animals and kids than people her age.
She visibly perked at the mention of a pool. "Pool?" Swimming? Yes. Thick, chunky makeup with swimming? Uhhh. "What about that picture, anythin' look like it?"

America shook her head, "Not yet at least, still gotta check the back and other side." Walking along the yard, the girl would stop now and again to squint at a section with a bit of window, trying to make herself see the odd face as clearly as she did in the picture. "It's a bit like trying to make shapes of could," she sighed at Chel. "This one's a duck, right? In a sombrero?"

"Would yer mom really go to the backside of some crummy house just t'get a picture?" Chel questioned, following behind the girl like an underling.
She looked up to what America was pointing at and shrugged. "Not sure m'catchin' yer drift. That's clearly a beer bottle with an umbrella."

"Oh honey, she's got an album ********' full of like...just bits and pieces of places 'round here. Whatever weird I got going? She started it." America squinted a bit more, til she was nearly cross-eyed and then laughed. "Well now everything's just dicks to me. Next window!"

Chel laughed but it was a strangely hollow kind of noise. The sort of laugh that accompanied a joke rather than related to it. Chel wasn't sure what she'd gotten from her mother much less if she'd want any of it.
"Everything's dicks t'me most of the time," Chel said with a sigh, following the girl. "See anything on that one?"

She doesn't see anything much at all at first. but a chance avoidance of something buzzing past her head lead America to ducking low and then, with the angle just right... "Here! Come look, this is definitely the face!" Scooting over, she gave Chel a bit of space next to her to peer at it. "The nose is exactly right!"

Chel filled the space and was ashamed to admit she did so a bit excitedly. America was so passionate about it all that the suspense had spilled over and she couldn't keep the grin off her face once she'd spotted the wall in question.
"Well I'll be damned. Y'found it, darlin'." She took the photo from the girl's hands for a moment to compare it with the wall before handing it back. "Makes y'wonder what the ******** yer mom was doin' in this backyard."

Glancing around with a triumphant grin, America announced firmly, "I have no ******** clue. I heard from someone who knew her here, that she played a mean game of lacrosse and broke a guy's nose. That she was a little bit wild, so maybe..." The girl's voice faded off as her eyes narrowed. "I bet she snuck in here, bet you anything. Look at that ******** drain pipe, all study and close to that upstairs balcony." While America's attention was on the second floor, the curtains of a nearby first floor window twitched.

If they twitched Chel didn't notice because her eyes were following America's gaze to the second floor.
"Why would she wanna sneak in here? I guess there's a pool ..." Yeah okay, the pool pretty much sold it.

"Maybe to make out with someone? 'S why I usually sneak in somewhere." America had priorities and pools were nice and all, but a good long make-out session was a step or two above.

Chel would like to raise the ante to making out with people in pools.
"True, true." Chel's sneaking usually had to do more with escaping the person she was making out with, but that was neither here nor there. "S'this yer way of hittin' on girls? 'Cause I gotta say it's a bit of a stretch."

Eyebrows shooting up, America gives a little huff of laughter. "Naw, for that I just ask if they wanna make out." A pause and then, grinning broadly with a little hubba hubba eyebrow action, she asked, "Do you wanna make out?"

"Well s**t, buy me dinner first-"
Chel was about to say more when the curtain rustled again, and this time Chel was looking. "Ooh we even got an audience."

Opening her mouth to reply, America's eyes widen at the warning. There's a moment of maybe we should run in case they're calling the cops. But they're two pretty girls in a small town, and she knows the advantages and isn't ashamed to make the most of them, so instead she waves and calls out a cheery, confident, "Hello?!" It takes a moment, but soon the back door is opening and a wide-eyed fourteen year old boy is poking his head out, face flushed as a strawberry. "Um...I..."
