When Ilyra mentioned her skin not burning she looked down at her arm then back toward the Alkidike. "Most of the wind tribe spend so much time in the sun from the time they are younglings that it doesn't usually bother them as they get older." Ming'we said nothing about how an Alkidike's skin would adjust. She had been raised in Sauti and had only moved to Jauhar in recent years. Of course now she was back to where she belonged.

"Though I think if you wore something loose but covering then you'd be alright to travel." There was a nod that came from her as she considered this.

It made sense. She had been protected, shielded, from the sun for so long that her already sensitive blood had to be much more sensitiveness then before. She guessed if she had been out there forever since she was young it might be better. Not much for her, but it made sense why it wasn't bad for the Earthlings.

"I might have to do something about that. Although this cloak helps with the keeping the sun off my skin it is pretty hot and uncomfortable. Plus I feel like I look like I'm up to no good." she laughed at the last part. Hooded figures always looked suspicious to her, so she could only imagine what she looked like to the earthlings being hooded and so tall.

The woman found the things and Ilyra paid for them, thanking the woman.

"Well I have a pestle and mortar back at my camp..." But she didn't want to leave the other girl. She was hurt, and although Ilyra wasn't the one who did it it was her kind. Her kind and Ming'we's kind. But Ming'we hadn't said anything when she asked if the other girl would accompany her to her homeland. She didn't want to push it, but Ming'we hadn't said no either so it wasn't entirely off the board.

Her dark blue eyes dropped to the cloak that Ilyra was wearing and then her head shook slightly. "It's made of woven fabric, that's why. That type of thing is good for the forest or coast but not out here." Ming'we wanted to roll her eyes at the woman. How did she expect to travel if she didn't know how to dress for each region.

Once the herbs were gotten and paid for Ming looked at Ilyra, fully ready to part ways. And the then albino Alk trailed off on her sentence. "You want me to walk you to your camp too?" For some reason she could only think that Ilyra didn't want an earthling to get the wrong idea about her. So she lifted a hand and gestured for her to lead the way. "Alright, lets go."
PostPosted: Fri May 13, 2016 6:53 pm

"I know," she defended herself, "but in my case I don't always get to choose comfort over protection. I'm not entirely sure that even if covered by the fabric that is used here that my skin would be protected enough. Hence my keeping the coat. I haven't been brave enough, or uncomfortable enough, to try to do without it." Part of her wanted to try, the coat was getting worse and worse, but she had blisters before and they hurt. She wasn't sure being comfortable was worth that risk.

Ilyra's smile brightened at Ming'we's question, and she didn't even have to answer when the other girl gestured for them to get going. "I really appreciate it. I accounted for many things about traveling, but I didn't think about how lonely it would get. I've always had others with me while I traveled, so I didn't think about how much silence there would be. Sometimes it's nice, you can hear the world around you, but sometimes it is just daunting."

She opened her mouth to say something then closed it just as quickly. Ming'we eyed her friend for a moment longer then decided she had better ask anyways. "Let me guess.. you've been sleeping out in the open too, haven't you?" Being under the stars was good and all but it could have consequences. Good and bad.

When Ilyra seemed to smile more she actually did roll her eyes. Not that one could really tell since they were a solid color. Still, Ming could relate. Traveling by yourself did get lonely. But for the full blooded Alk it would be more so after losing her girlfriend. "Hmph. Well before you drive yourself insane or die of exposure I guess you should travel with me." She made it sound like she was doing it all for Ilyra, but deep down she was happy to have someone there with her. Even if that someone was an Alkidike. This one, Ilyra, wasn't so bad.
PostPosted: Fri May 13, 2016 7:23 pm

"I was at first." she admitted sheepishly. She knew it was dangerous, but it was so nice to be able to see the stars when she slept at night. "But since I normally sleep during the day to avoid the sun I try to sleep places that are covered since they are darker. I bought a cloth with some rope to tie and make a shelter, and although I'm pretty sure it was intended to use for when it rained I use it to stay hidden." Thankfully it blended into the trees pretty well, that was when she found trees to hide in. After the small issue she encountered on her way she tried to keep as hidden as possible, and not stop too sleep until she found somewhere to hide.

"Oh Ming'we I promise you won't regret it. I'll be a good travel buddy." The fact that despite it all Ming'we was still willing to travel with her, even with her being a gull blooded Alkidike, meant that all hope was not lost. She hadn't completely turned her back on that side of her. At least that was how Ilyra chose to take it. "How far is it too where you're from?"

Her hand came up and practically slapped onto her forehead. "Argh.. woman.." The blonde shook her head at Ilyra. "How you survived this long is a mystery to me." A snort was given and she took a deep breath. "I'll have to show you how to survive in Sauti." If Ilyra wanted to travel through the wind territory then she'd need to know certain things. Basic things really.

"If you plan to sleep during the day then find an outcropping of rock to sleep under. It provides shade and cover from prying eyes."

Ming waved her hand slightly. "Yeah, yeah." Despite her words she was smiling slightly. As she was asked about how far it was to travel to the place she had been raised she had to pull up her mental map. "Uh, I want to say about five days maybe a week or more depending on where we stop and what we do." Her shoulders came up in a shrug.

She laughed at the other girls reaction. They hadn't known each other for long, and Ilyra was started to regret that. Ming'we was kinda funny, even if Ilyra doubted that was what she was meaning to be. She knew that she was a hopeless case, but it was amusing to see someone else recolonizing that. "Sounds like a plan, and I'll provide you with company. Well you'll be doing that to me, but I'm sure that you can't like being alone all that much." After all if she didn't she wouldn't be going back to her homeland, she would be going off to live like a hermit.

"Sounds like a plan. That isn't that long really. Do you have a home waiting for you over there?" She wasn't sure how hard it was to build homes in Sauti, or if there were empty ones waiting for people to move into.

The hit to her forehead had caused some pain in the general area of where her antennae had been. Ming'we's body was still recovering from that loss. If her hair wasn't covering the spots then Ilyra would see that the cuts hadn't healed completely yet.

".... I'm fairly sure no one likes to be alone. Unless they are a grump." Which she may just turn into.

Ming shook her head with a frown. "No. I'll have to find a parcel of land to claim as my own and build one." The blonde knew she would have to do that. Had known that for a while. But hearing it out loud and in such a way she felt deflated a bit. "Or I might just become a nomad. Everyone likes to remind me I don't belong here or there so.. why not?" Her hate was starting to shine through again and it made her grind her teeth.

"For some time after Tahi was gone I liked to be alone, I didn't even want the company of my mother, but then I met my half sister and things kind of changed. Meeting her and talking to here changed my outlook on things a bit. She's been through hard times, she lost both her mothers, but she was going on and helping an earthling find out about their past in the process. I don't know what exactly what it was, but after meeting with her something inside of me just seemed to clicked and I didn't want to be alone any more."

"If you're now just a wind earthling then you belong here just like them." She commented. If Ming'we wanted to think of herself that way then Ilyra thought it should apply to all aspects of her life. "Although I've never built a house in Sauti I've helped build ones back at home. I can help if you want. I have no set time limit for where I go and it can be my payment for you keeping me alive out here."

As she listened she nodded her head slightly. "I really am sorry that you lost her." Ming'we didn't think it was fair to have someone leave your life in such a manner. Learning that Ilyra had a half sister was something new. "Oh? I didn't know you had a sister."

Sadly, learning of that connection made her think of her own sibling. Minga. Her twin brother. She'd left him behind when she disowned the Alkidikes. Tears gathered in her eyes at the thought. "It's nice to have siblings." The blonde nodded her head then looked away from Ilyra. She didn't want the woman to see her weakness. Her longing for what she'd left behind. She was still too angry to even admit it to herself.

"Ahem, uhm.. they are similarly built, just not in a tree." It was the only way she knew how to change the subject.
PostPosted: Sat May 14, 2016 2:25 pm

She nodded when Ming'we apologized. She was sorry as well. Sorry that she wasn't able to do anything to stop it all from happening.

When she seemed surprised that Ilyra had a sibling the albino shrugged her shoulders. "I didn't know either actually. I was raised alone so when I found out I had a sister I was shocked. Turns out that soon after I ran away to live with Briella my birth mother had a child with a shifter hybrid. From what I understand it was purely to have a child, but Aisha granted them my sister. Even when I met up with my birth mother when I was older she never told me I had a sister. It would've been nice getting to know her growing up, but it's nice to know I have a sister now."

She watched as Ming'we acted strangely, but the topic was soon switched to house building. "I can help with that then, it shouldn't be that hard, as long as you want my help that is."

So that was how she had ended up with Briella. Ming'we looked at Ilyra a bit oddly. "I didn't know that you ran away..." It brought to mind the question of why. Why would she do such a thing? The blonde stared at her friend for a second longer then faced forward. The tears were still in her eyes and she didn't want Ilyra to see them.

"Well, it'll give you something to do to keep you busy." Plus, she could use the help. Building things on her own would take too long. Not that she was in a hurry or anything, but Ilyra likely wouldn't want to watch her do it all.

She shrugged. "You met me when I was a little older, so I didn't brag about it as much. My birth mother did as well as she could with me, I know that now, but at the time it was to constricting. I couldn't take it, and as a youngling I ran away. I got lost and Briella found me. She took me back to the island, where she was given custody over me. I now know I was a little harsh on my birth mother. But I wouldn't change anything, Breilla was a wonderful mother to me."

"Yes, keep me busy while I figured out what to do next."
She didn't know how long she wanted to travel before going home, or if she even wanted to go back to where she once called home.

"I see.." It certainly did explain why Ilyra never mentioned it. That wasn't something to brag about. After a second with her thoughts she said, "I am glad that it all worked out." And she really was. Ming'we didn't want her friend to regret the decision that had been made.

"Heh. We'll have to build a temporary shelter for you first. This way you have somewhere to sit out of the sun." She smiled as she gently teased Ilyra. Of course she was also quite serious about what she'd said as well. Ming didn't want Ilyra to burn and if there was no out cropping of rock for her to take refuge under then something would need to be built. A simple lean-to should work well enough so long as they faced it away from the angle of the sun. Or at least gave it a cloth door to provide extra protection. "Do you have any idea of what it is you'd like to do next?" Ming'we asked out of curiosity.
