He liked Falias. There was a quiet sense of duty that he seemed to carry with him, but it did not make him blind to what else was there. There were members of the Negaverse that had potential, and his brother would not have been saved if they were all evil.
And this knight seemed to know this.
"Falias," said Celsus thoughtfully. "You seem a decent man with a great deal of sense and respect. What would you...say to possibly joining my team?"
He smiled at him, a little hesitantly. "I've begun, rather slowly, to form a brigade dedicated mostly to encouraging the purification of Negaverse members; however, there is more to it than that, of course."

Falias gave Celsus a startled look at the other's words, "Are you sure?" He asked, well rather blurted out and then awkwardly because even he could hear how gauche he had sounded added "Sorry that came out wrong."
Because it wasn't that he wasn't flattered by the offer because he was and it wasn't as if he wasn't curious about what he had heard about the mention of Knight Brigades because he was...
However Falias also knew that he had distanced himself from a lot of Knight going ons during his time as a Squire and whilst now - as a Knight - he was trying to change things, it didn't change the fact that he didn't know as much about knight going ons as some of his fellow knights.
"It's not that I'm not interested" he admitted "Because I am - but there are other knights" and by 'knights' he meant the Knighthood as a whole "Who know a lot more than I do." Because much as he hated making the admission, it was also something that Falias figured Celsus should know.

His smile was gentle, a little rueful. Celsus watched Falias with a quietly studious look on his face for a long moment, as though debating whether or not to tell him what was going through his mind.
"I was going to corrupt," said Celsus, after a minute. "I was going to corrupt, because I thought I had nothing else left to offer the Knights. Everything had gone wrong, and my brother was Negaverse and I couldn't save him, and I had no idea what I was doing anymore. Five years in the Knighthood and I couldn't do a bloody thing about the things I cared about most."
There was a resignation to his tone. Five weeks ago, Celsus would never have spoken aloud of his failures, but it came easier now, even if the ache in his chest had not truly eased just yet.
"It took a lot for me to be where I am now," he said, eyes resting on Falias' face. "I'm not perfect, far from it. I'm rather a mess," Celsus added, with a faint smile. "But it's not about who knows more, at least not to me. It's about who will do the right thing, and I believe you're that kind of man."

Whether he had intended to or not, Celsus' words struck a chord.
Not the part about his brother being Negaverse - because finding out that someone close to him - that family - was caught up in the coils of chaos, was thankfully something that he had never had to experience.
And whilst he was kind of guessing - make that very much hoping - that Celsus had managed to save his brother because the other had mentioned earlier that his brother had been with him at the meeting on the Moon, Falias couldn't imagine how terribly horrible finding out something like that would be...
And he was selfish enough to know that it wasn't something that he ever wanted to experience.
No it was not the part about Celsus' brother being Negaverse, but rather the part about not having anything to offer the Knighthood - because that...
That Falias could empathise with only too well.
And whilst he didn't feel able to talk about Mistral - not with someone who hadn't been there - he found himself nodding.
"I'll do it" he said and his voice was solemn but decisive nod "If you'll have me then I'm in."
Because whilst Falias knew that he still had a long way to go as a knight - what Celsus was trying to build was something he could get behind - something he could support...
And perhaps in doing so, he could get a step closer to both understanding what was meant to be a Knight of the Stone and being a better Knight.

Celsus had not spoken of his decision to corrupt to anyone outside of Hitch, Rhys, and Fiona, and it still hurt now, remembering all that had happened. His wrist was throbbing as though reminding him of all that he had lost - and all that he had gained at the same time.
It felt like a long, painful road both in front of him and behind him, and he had difficulties imagining the light at the end of the tunnel. But it was there, Celsus knew it. It was there, and now it was just a matter of actually getting to it - and holding onto it once he had it.
Relief swept over Celsus at Falias' answer. He lifted his head and felt a smile break out across his face, and however tired he was, the smile was entirely genuine.
His hands shifted, pushed out to the side, and Celsus gave a low bow, reminiscent of the actions he had used to give back when he had been younger, more lighthearted, more carefree. He straightened after a moment and grinned.
"It would be my honor to have you in my brigade," he said, and stuck out his hand. "Welcome, Falias."

The grin was enough to prompt a cheerful smile from Falias as he reached out without hesitation to shake the offered hand.
Because whilst this was the first real interaction that he'd had with Celsus, he'd seen enough to find himself liking the Chronos Knight.
"Thank you" he said "I'm looking forward to it."
And perhaps a little surprisingly he was - he really was.
A thought occurred to him and he rummaged in one of the small pouches that hung from his belt for the bit of pencil and one of the small bits of paper that he had stuck in there before quickly jotting down his name, a shop name and two phone numbers.
"Ways to reach me" he said by way of explanation as he held out the piece of paper to Celsus "Well at least ways outside of using the Knight ring" and then because he was a little curious - okay well make that a fair bit curious - he added "Have you asked anyone else?" kuropeco sorry I have failed at tagging anything lately

He felt a little thrill in the pit of his stomach, because it felt, for the first time in a long time, as though he had started something important. Celsus could sense the small rush of pleasure that stemmed from having a cause in his heart again; a foreign feeling that he had not felt for quite some time.
He reached out and took the offered paper, carefully tucking it away. Celsus glanced up at Falias and beamed.
"Two so far," he said. "A Saturn Squire by the name of Mont Blonc, who is one of the kindest men I know - and my own brother, who's name is Emrys of Neptune. There are a few others I'd like to speak to, but for now...it's the four of us."

Falias nodded as he remembered the red-headed man that had been standing next to Celsus at the recent Knight meeting that had taken place on the Moon "I'm looking forward to meeting them."
Because whilst he had spotted Celsus' brother at the meeting, spotting wasn't the same as meeting and whilst he had run across a few Saturn knights in the past, the name Mont Blanc was an unfamiliar one to him.
"And to working together with everyone."
His smile turned rueful "Although I should probably be making a move soon since it's turning late and I have to open up shop in the morning" and it probably wouldn't be good if he ended up oversleeping even if he did live just above - because that would probably result in him waking up to his father on the line.
"It's been a pleasure meeting you though Celsus."

"Yes, it is quite late," Celsus agreed, but he reached out and grasped Falias' shoulder briefly, offering him a smile. "I'm very grateful to have run into you today, and for the fact that you have agreed to work with me. I'm sure you will be just fine with the others; they are looking forward to meeting any new members as well."
Beaming, Celsus let his hand drop and dipped his head into a low bow of respect towards the other knight.
"A pleasure, Falias. Please see yourself home safely."

"Same goes for you Celsus" Falias said and whilst he didn't bow he raised his hand in a simple but friendly wave, before turning and slipping into the evening.
And despite the lethargy that still dragged at him, the Earth knight couldn't help but feel that slowly he was taking steps on his path to become a better knight.
But for now home was calling and perhaps a cup of hot chocolate before he let the tiredness pull him into another exhaustion-fuelled sleep.
