Pompeii had a lot of experience falling so when she found her forward motion change to one of falling her body reacted subconsciously. Rather than smash face first into the broken pavement, stunning her or worse breaking her nose, she just ended up bruised and scraped, her hands tingling slightly from the force. It didn't take a genius to realize what happened, especially since she could feel the negaverser’s hands gripping her ankles. With a growl she kicked backwards with as much strength and force she could muster, once, twice, three times until she felt his grip loosen and she could shake it off. Scrambling to her feet Pompeii quickly moved out of range of the Captain before turning to face him.
Her eyes flicked back and forth between the negaverser that was her opponent and the fight between Athene and the General. Pompeii knew that Athene could handle himself but still. She took a half step towards the fighting duo when the Captain started to stand, his blood looking like some twisted form of war paint. His head had to be harder than stone to be standing after being kicked in the head. Again her brown gaze slid over towards Athene and his fight, surprised at the change in tactics his negaverser was going for.
Even in a fight she wondered out loud, “Athene… would it work now?” His senshi magic hadn’t worked against her when she was running at him. Would it work against the General? He was doing basically the same thing. It would be interesting to see the results.
---:---
Febrezeite did his best to avoid most of the kicks the knight but there was only so much he could do so when his hand loosened he wasn't too surprised. Hell he couldn't see from the tears in his eyes as his head throbbed from where her boot struck his head, a cut on his forehead welling from where her heal sliced into his skin.
With a groan he sat up, wincing as his fingers brushed against the cut. “Damn girl. I think you left a few impressions on my skull.” He grumbled as he checked the blood on his fingers. He climbed to his feet carefully, smearing the blood across his forehead with the back of his hand, “Guess it's my turn to make a few ‘impressions’ on you.” The Captain leered at the Squire, his brows waggling suggestively. Just because he was planning on yanking her starseed from her pretty chest didn’t mean he couldn’t enjoy it. Without turning away from the Squire Febrezeite asked General Benitoite loudly, “No survivors right Boss?” He was hoping for a simple seed extraction, with some light fondling hopefully, but sometimes the higher ups wanted pets so it was always a good idea to ask. After all one could kill a knight that had been corrupted but you couldn’t corrupt a corpse.
A twisted smile crossed Febrezeite’s face as he saw the knight get distracted by the other two. Taking this opportunity he rushed at the purple clad hero hoping to tackle her to the ground before removing the bright little starseed that was lurking in her.

At the sound of Pompeii's voice Athene risked a brief glance over and across to where the Saturn Squire was.
To be honest however, he wasn't sure whether his magic would work and he was equally less sure that now was the best time to find out.
No scratch that - he was pretty sure that now was probably not the best time to find out.
It had been meant to be just a brief glance - given that he still had to account for the General - but his glance had been just in time to see movement heading towards the Squire and given that the General was over with him - that meant..
That meant...
"Pompeii watch out!" He yelled at the Squire before biting his lip and calling on his magic.
"Blue Beads of Nazar – intensated!"
But it was his super level magic that he called on and even as he did so Athene knew that he was leaving himself open to the General.
So be it he decided grimly as he focused on summoning his attack, focused on the glowing ball of ethereal-looking beads that formed and floated before his raised left hand before desperately directing them towards the Captain.
Quote:
Blue beads of Nazar – intenstated: Athene’s super level attack takes the form of a ‘ball of beads’ that can trap a target with ill will towards either Athene or one of his allies in a barrier of beads if it connects. (Ill will means that the target wishes to cause some form of harm to either Athene or his ally). Target can still jump, block, or strike with their weapon - but they cannot leave the ring of beads. Beads can be smashed by someone outside the barrier, smashing half (24 to 30) will bring down the barrier. Duration: About thirty seconds (or 2 posts)

he's leaving himself wide open in an attempt to target Febrezeite
Looking back to his Captain he called out to him. "Nothing a few energy orbs, or a single starseed, won't cure." Yes, he was aware that such words might anger either of their opponents but he was counting on it. He was counting on upsetting the eternal enough that the other didn't think. A tactic he'd used before, and found success in, was riling a senshi or knight up by his actions or words and watching them fail to think. People, senshi and knights included, were being who worked on emotion a lot and if he could use it against them he certainly would. He had learned a lot over the years.
"No - no survivors. Paint the ground with her blood." And he would try and do the same thing. "I want her screams to echo through the night. Make it painful." His voice was serious, his tone cold, he kept his slate eyes narrowed on the eternal he was facing off against. he was not going to underestimate the senshi, but he was not to be underestimated either. Small as he was, and drowning in fabric, he was a killer...and he enjoyed it.
"I don't like forced corruptions. Useless little officers who waste space and power. Either join willingly or die at our feet - simple as that." He added, trying to push the eternal further, wanting to press every emotional button he could.
Watching the eternal decide to jump into the other fight he took the opportunity for all it was worth. He summoned changed his attack before his fist even touched the other. He pulled back and summoned his weapon and rather than the blade he used the bottom end. Using the bottom end he brought it down into a knee, with as much force as he could. "Tsk, tsk...that's their little fight. If you jump in there you'll make this too easy...and where would my pleasure in this all be, hmmm?" He questioned, he wanted to delight in this kill - he wanted to enjoy it and drag it out. This was a time for him to play a bit.
Truth be told he would enjoy killing senshi and knights slowly every time if he could, it was why the idea of watching them writhe and die slowly from poison was so appealing. The sad truth was that he rarely got the time to play and drag a fight out and really hurt someone, to watch them suffer. Most of the time battles were fast and over with quickly...or big battles where so much happened and opponents were changing all the time and big things were happening all around and distracting. This he wanted to drag out if he could.
"I'm going to enjoy killing you...but I don't want it to be too easy."

Pompeii had been so focused on Athene and his adversary that she hadn’t realized the negaverser had gotten to his feet, let alone was charging at her. At the senshi’s cry of warning she instinctively took a step back and then watched in surprise as something hit the captain before encircling him with blue balls. Her surprise was quickly surpassed with curiosity. What exactly was the difference between this usage and when Athene tried it on her? That interest drew her a step closer to the trapped captain, at least until his cursing and a futile swipe at her with his rug beater prompted her to stop her forward motion. Intresting. Apparently he physically could not leave the ring of beads but his weapon could. I wonder… “Hey Athene…” Pompeii trailed off when looked up and spied the General going after Athene. All thoughts of questions and senshi magic and figuring out just how Athene’s beads worked were lost on the zing of fear for the senshi that flashed through her. Pompeii owed the senshi for the trapped captain and it looked like the knight would be paying up sooner than expected.
With a shout of warning of her own the squire raced towards the two, summoning her own weapon. Just as the General lashed out with his spear Pompeii used her shawl. She snapped it out like she had been practicing, and although her fatigued shoulder screamed at her, the gray yarn obeyed her. She didn’t know if she was close enough yet but she was out of time! She would have to pray that her magic would be strong enough. That it would make all the difference because she COULD NOT have anyone else die in front of her. She would not let it happen.
Squire - A light/ash gray simple shawl - slight power ~ When she concentrates and throws the shawl at someone, and it comes in contact with them, the shawl wraps around the body part it touches and binds it to the nearest item. For instance if it catches a leg it will likely bind the leg to the other leg, an arm to the body, or to a object near by such as a light pole or another person, but leaving the rest of the body free. The shawl becomes nearly impossible to remove while the shawl is in use but this only lasts for a total of 30 seconds and leaves no lasting effects regardless of what it binds/catches. After the full time has been used the shawl becomes inert and nothing more than a mundane yarn distraction. She MUST be in contact of the shawl in some way in order for it to work which will likely place her within striking distance of her opponent.

Febrezeite was glad that his General gave him permission to just have at it. He couldn’t wait to feel the warm rush of sticky blood coat his hands as he beat this knight into submission before painfully yanking her starseed from her chest. He enjoyed watching the seeping knowledge of death smother all hope in there eyes. To see faith and love die in there gazes as he squeezed their seeds in his hand before he slowly, exceptionally slowly, removed that special little stone and that light, the light of life, was snuffed from those eyes forever. It was almost as good as a finely cooked, high end, steak. He almost shivered in anticipation even as his forward momentum was stopped suddenly.
One moment he was racing towards the squire, murder in his heart, the next he was surrounded by floating beads. Ones he couldn’t get around, no going under, no going over, no going around. Angry now he started to scream profanities even as he tested the boundaries of the magical trap his a** was stuck in. He swung out at the stupid little girl who was currently beyond his grasp, his rug beater magically in his hand. Why, oh why, didn’t he have something cool like the shorty mcshort stuff’s spear! Then he could cut and gut and rent and make her bleed even if he was trapped like a rat.
His ranting got even worse when he saw the knight go after his General! No! She was his target! He was the one who got to hurt her! He was the one who got to spread her blood out on the ground! This wasn’t fair! This wasn’t FAIR!
Athene had known that in order to his magic that he would be leaving himself wide open...
But he had done so anyway, even though it meant that he was handing the advantage to the General.
He didn't have any regrets though - particularly when the cursing coming from Pompeii's last direction suggested that his magic had decided to make nice and work.
The General had taken the opening - as he thought he would - however and Athene didn't think that he was going to be able to get out of the way in time...
No scratch that he knew that he wasn't going to be getting out of the way in time as the end of the other's spear swung in his direction.

Fair or not the General was the target for the knights magic, as he found his spear bound to his own hands and to his arms...in some weird and rather awkward manner. Since he'd been holding it in a two handed fashion it was just sort of...stuck. That bit of grey cloth the culprit for this situation, as it innocently wrapped about it weapon.
Growling he yanked at his weapon, seeking to free it from that bit of cloth. "I'm going to kill you when I get my weapon free. I'm going to paint the ground with your blood." He promised, his voice dropping and coming out as something between a coo and a promise, something dark and soothing at the same time.
"Just wait...I'll kill you both and leave a mess for your friends to find..." If the officer with him had ever thought the petite General was weak or not a fighter - not a killer...he should figure himself wrong at this point. He might like to work in the background, manipulate things, but he was a killer and he had no problem creating a bloodbath. He just wasn't the sort to shout, curse, and act like some out of control animal. He had control....he just also happen to be a killer.

yup that seems about right ^.^ for her magic

“Run Athene! Run!” Pompeii shouted at the senshi, he was stronger and knew more about this war then she did but there was no way the squire could stomach yet another death added to her ledger. The two there already were two too many as it was. If her testing was right she didn’t have much more time before the shawl became a shawl once more rather then the magical binding it was exhibiting now. She was too close as it was, her fingers just barely holding onto the cloth, if the General ever realized just how close she was he could turn his spear on her. It wasn’t like the magic was preventing him from swinging the bladed weapon, he just couldn’t let it go.
30 seconds give or take. How many heart beats was that? When one’s heart was racing was it more time or less? Would it be long enough for Athene to get away? Would it give Pompeii enough time to mentally seek forgiveness because the squire had no doubt that the General would kill her. Where the bat s**t crazy one failed this short one would succeed. At least Athene knew his attack worked. It would be up to him to figure out exactly what the change had been. What was the difference between the last casting and this one?
She was prepared for death. Some small part of Pompeii knew that it would be the inevitable ending for her. If not now then later. Ben Franklin once said that ‘In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes’. Just before her magic gave way she was rudely shoved to the side, her fingers losing their grip on the shawl, the magic fading from the strands of gray yarn. It was no longer gripping the General’s hands to his spear, in fact it fell from his hands all together to puddle on the ground even as Pompeii scrambled to her feet after being hip checked by the Captain, who had come barreling up behind her.
Blinking in confusion she tried to understand what the negaverser was saying, his conversation as rambling as a child’s but the sounds of rapidly approaching police made it fairly clear that if they all didn’t clear out soon, civilians with guns would be joining this party. Civilians with itchy trigger fingers. Pompeii didn’t know about Athene but she wasn’t interested in dealing with police. “Athene?” Her question wasn’t asked but it was pretty clear the Squire was looking to the Eternal for their next move. What did the senshi want to do?
---:---
“Yeah! Run, Forest Run!” Febrezeite mocked as he fumed in his cage. He wanted to join his General in the blood letting. He wanted to use their hair as brushes and their blood as paint. Maybe go all Jackson Pollock on their asses, flinging their blood too and fro across the ground. The Captain grinned, more like grimaced, at the duo, biding his time. All magic ran it’s course. Soon he would be free, soon his General would be loose, and then… then these pretenders would bleed. He had no doubts about his General’s desire to kill but unlike the shortstack Febrezeite would rather run free like a rabid wolf. Tearing into his foes with wild abandon. He was heat while his General was cold. Burning insanity vs subzero rationality.
The captain was a little preoccupied with his mental murder of the two order twits he actually missed the beads marking the edge of his cage disappearing. It wasn’t until he started to pace around again, and realizing he had gone past the point he had stopped last time that the nutty b*****d looked around. “Hun? Ooooooooh.” A devilish grin spread across his face as he realized he was free. That look dropped like a stone though when he picked up the sounds of sirens screaming towards them.
“s**t! General shorty! Cops! I’ve got a record… Maybe a few outstanding warrants… Definitely wanted in a couple’o states.” Febrezeite started to babble as he actually raced towards his commanding officer, not doing more than just hip checking the squire b***h out of the way. “We got to go. We got to go. wegot togo. Wegottogo.” He tugged on the General’s cape as he was backing up towards the shadows and darkness of the allies on from whence they came, still muttering to himself and anyone else who was still listening. “I can’t be arrested. This pretty face won't last two minutes in jail and I really don't want no ‘daddy’ to be keeping me company. I mean having one as a free man is all good but having a gorilla humping your a** in a tiny cell is not my idea of a fun time… the handcuffs might be kinky though.” With a free hand he waved away the mental picture, still tugging on the cape of his General. “Come On man! Let’s go! Let the pussies mcpusertons live for one more night.”

Athene had braced himself for the incoming blow - a blow that he wasn't going to be able to avoid - and so it took a few moments for it to sink in that the blow hadn't actually connected.
The sound of the growl from the General intermixed with Pompeii's frantic shout pushed him into action, Athene shifting just enough to put a bit of distance between himself and the General's weapon before darting closer - because there was no way that he was going to leave Pompeii on her own to face the pair alone–
Although given the drain the using his magic had caused he wasn't sure if he should take the chance on trying to use it again.
Although..
Although mayhaps...
Sirens started up before he could complete the thought, the sound dangerously close suggesting that their activities had caught the attention of the men in blue.
The sound seemed to have galvanised the Captain, the other actually dashing past Pompeii with little more than an attempted hip check as he made a bee line towards the General and whilst on another occasion the other's reference of 'General shorty' may have made Athene raise an eyebrow especially since he and the General were of a height - now was kind of not the time.
Actually now was very much not the time.
He stepped closer to Pompeii, eyes trying to surreptitiously check if she was okay before shifting to look at the General - because the Captain was right - the sirens were their cue to leave...
As long as the General didn't try to draw out the fight more that is.

please let me know if I need to tweak this and I will do it when I get home after work"
He was just about to test the limit on what he could do, with his weapon bound to his hold, when the material puddled on the ground and the Captain with him slammed into the knight. Growling he made a dive for the knight - intending to stab at her. he'd heard about the police and figured he had time to finish the knight - if he was fast enough. he wouldn't get to make the scene he wanted to, you never got everything you wanted in life, but he could at least leave her body behind when they fled. However, the Captain continued on rambling and he had to stop short in what he'd been preparing to do - stab the knight.
s**t...he didn't need the Captain being busted, it would not go well. While busting someone out of jail could be done...that meant being on the run and all sorts of things he couldn't manage to consider at the moment, he could do it later when he wasn't running on adrenalin.
Letting the Captain grab at him and pull him away he nodded slowly, his weapon vanishing. "For now...I won't lose a Captain because of them." Nodding his head once to the knight and the eternal senshi. He was really going to have to check this officer's records later - much later. Wanted in various states...and outstanding warrants - that wasn't good. Had this been before or after he'd joined the Negaverse and if it was before...who the hell had brought him in? It was dangerous...
"Come on, let's go." Taking hold of the Captain to run off with him, not even thinking to teleport. he didn't want to risk it being seen by any cops - how close were they? And he didn't need a knight or senshi grabbing them and hitching a ride.

Athene and Pompeii should meet again and actually figure out what the parameters of his magic is XD if he hasn't already that is ^.^
Febrezeite paused in his tugging for just a moment, a smile blooming across his face as he grinned at the general. “Awwwww that's so sweet! You don't want to loose me cuz these little ********. I didn't know you cared.” He leaned over towards the general and started to tease him, “you like me, you really like me” he practically sang. He probably would have said more but the sounds of the sirens getting louder and the General grabbing him prevented that. It was probably for the best because the next lines of that particular ‘song’ was ‘you think I'm gorgeous, you want to kiss me, you want to hug me, you want to smooch me’. Miss Congeniality had some amusing a** lines in it, that's for sure. This particular set of lines probably would have left him dead here on the pavement if he hadn't had to leave them behind.
As the smaller general pulled him along like some errant childrens toy he grinned back at the order duo. “I’ll be seeing you ladies later. That's a promise.” He tossed them a one finger salute before the shadows hid them from view. It didn't hide his voice however… “can we do the ‘beam me up Scotty’ thing General?” His question was faint but still audible to the two order fighters still there.
---:---
Pompeii could only blink in surprise at how quick everything seemed to break up. First the captain was babbling about not going to jail… or was it going to jail? It was honestly confusing. Then the general seemed to agree and dragged the now flirting, really flirting? At this time?!? And with the general no less, captain. She remained silent up to the final parting shot of the captain, “He's a guy!” Yes, that was her brilliant statement. Correcting Febrezeite assumption that Athene was a girl, although it was only after she shouted this out that it occurred to Pompeii that maybe the crazy man was just being facetious.
Shrugging it off, and rather conscious of how close those sirens sounded, Pompeii turned towards Athene who had come closer then he had been. Grabbing his hand she hurried off in the opposite direction of the incoming police and the negaverse, “As Snagglepuss says ‘Exit stage Left’. Time to get out of this place.”
As they left the parking lot she could see the flashing lights of the cop cars bouncing off the surrounding buildings as they got closer. “I don’t know about you but I think a hot shower and a long nap is in store.” Everything hurt. From the bruises she got from her tussle with the captain to mental drain from using nearly all her magic. She would have to remember to set her alarm or she might oversleep tomorrow. “At least we got some good data from the fight.” Pompeii glanced back at Athene briefly before paying attention to where they were going and added, “For your magic that is.”
As it happened Athene had no intention of trying to chase after General or Captain, instead nodding slightly at Pompeii at her suggestion that they exit stage left–
Because whilst he wasn't sure if he personally agreed with her that the fight had been a good 'data gathering' exercise - it was definitely time they left.
Actually it was probably past time they left.
Following Pompeii out of the parking lot and away from the warehouse Athene nodded at her comment because shower and sleep both sounded good to him and whilst avoiding being skewered or worse wasn't exactly his idea of fun - there was truth in the fact that he had used his magic and his magic had worked.
"I'll try to see if I can work out what was different" he said quietly. "And sleep sounds good - sounds really good - as does a shower."
He continued "Also thank you for what you did before" because if Pompeii hadn't stepped in when she had then it was likely that he wouldn't be able to be talking so casually about sleep or showers or much of anything.
Because best case scenario would have been hospital and worse case...
He shook his head slightly at the direction that his thoughts were drifting in, putting it aside for now.
"Maybe we can meet up again at some point - but without the General, Captain or additional sirens."
It wouldn't be this night though - because next for this night was home followed by bed and perhaps that shower.
