Kae at reminisced on someone, more people she had lost in her past, even before she became a scientist. She blinked back into the conversation as he asked about Mara and her's working relationship. "We spoke over the phone occasionally. Mostly business, sometimes more personal. But never anything of the past. Just what was happening in the present. Mara spoke of you and Tri often. I, unfortunately, didn't have many personal things to talk about besides what I was eating or discussions of what was on the news that day. Like I mentioned, I live a pretty boring life consumed by science and the pursuit of knowledge." she shifted slightly in her chair, taking another deep breath. "Most of the time, it was idle banter, only just recently did it really become very business with the transfer of Hexxis to your facility." she paused for a moment to run her fingers over the utensils idly as a distraction as she spoke. "She was in a pretty unfavorable situation at her last facility. I found out the kinds of things they had been doing to her and couldn't stand it. I had her transferred somewhere where maybe she could have a chance at not being treated like some kind of expendable lab rat. It's why I came to see Mara, and why I'm staying there still. I wanted to monitor Hexxis." she explained, keeping her eyes locked on Ree. "She seems to be a lot happier here despite the first time I saw her looking pretty depressed. Though, I heard it was because of an incident involving Tri and her malice." she closed her eyes and chuckled. "If only such a happy ending could be the same for everyone in such predicaments. Hexxis is lucky to have you all." Kae genuinely smiled at Ree. At least if she couldn't have fixed and saved Rasiel, at least Hexxis seemed to have a much better chance at a better life.

Ree looked curious at Kae's mention that Mara spoke of them often to her. It made him wonder what she said good or bad.......she gave no hint to either but still seemed favorable so he shook his head and smiled until she started to mention Hexxis.
"You were the one who transferred Hexxis? Huh " he looked suprised leaning forward slightly as he rested his right forearm against the table. That was one piece of information he could never get from Tri because not even Tri knew. "From prism land ...His code word for Spectrum for the moment. "They were experimenting on her...still experimenting on her even with the current change in leadership? " remembering his conversation with Mira that now felt like ages again.
As Kae reached the end he looked away from her, glancing to the napkin as he reached out to adjust it. "I haven't really meet her yet... Here and there now and then " he corrected feeling guilty for not try harder, yet talking to children always made him feel odd. "Most of her contact she been with Tri.. He... Um got stabbed two times on different occasions by her malice. Yet he still adopted her " no emotion, nothing. Tri never asked him.. Didn't need to ask him but it did hurt a little. It hurt more when he leaned he had spent most of the time in recovery. "Tri....doesn't really " there was a pause as he tried to figure out how to say it. "He doesn't hold grudges easily "

Kae nodded, "Yes, I was the one responsible for transferring her to SIU. Like I said, I felt shed have a better chance with Mara and you two then where she was." Kae smirked at the nickname Ree had given Spectrum. It wasn't necessary to give it a code word, but she found it amusing none the less. She shifted uneasily as he then spoke of the change of ownership, waving her hand lightly. "No, I had everyone fired who was involved in the incident with Hexxis and a few other underground experiments. I motioned they put the Meta who had spearheaded all their Meta-related projects... The good ones, anyway, to take over for the prism land. She didn't accept the position until Hexxis had already been transferred. Which I did just in case the girl had declined the position. It was a precaution really. Anyway, I monitor the facility and it's running more.. genuinely now." she explained. As he spoke of Tri, she seemed intrigued about his opinion of his own father. He spoke of Tri's encounters with Hexxis' malice and the fact he still adopting her. "Resilient? Or stubborn." she spoke retorically, mostly figuring out Tri. She'd only spoke with him once, though it was a fairly intelligent conversation of electronic sciences, something that she hoped to continue at a later date with him. It was all very interesting indeed.

Ree smiled faintly as she repeated his word for Spectrum, it didn't need a code are but he just wanted to do it on a whim and was amused she followed along. Yet as she talked his face slowly turned into one of faint surprise then of respect and quiet calculation. So she was the one who pushed Mira up to the position she was in now, a figure head while she worked behind the scenes? As he told Mira it wasn't a bad think that she was there ...it just assumed that she would know how much of a push she would have.
"Lot of pies..and good." He said with a slight shake of his head, with someone running it from the scene maybe there would be less "property".m Hopefully there would also be no more like Hexxis...even so he had been tempted to ask about the other underground experiments..but read enough from other centers to assume.
"As for Tri...a little of both. " he looked thoughtful but the waitress started to arrive with the food, placing them all out on the table and leaving two empty plates so they could serve themselves from each of them. "Okay then! " he smiled pointing out which plate was which and anything special or different it had.

Kae watched as the food came, internally sighing as it was just as foreign visually as they had sounded earlier. During the meal, she'd try everything, if not out of pure curiosity alone though she never sported any kind of poker face about her view of the foods. Dishes she didn't like would be met with a stern and almost disgusted face and further avoided as she stuck to the foods that didn't seem as bad. Kae seemed to stay quiet during the meal, and even showed a bit of regal finesse with fairly proper table etiquette despite showing hardly any during their talk earlier. After she had her fill, she waited for Ree as well, making sure he was finished before speaking again. "...have you ever considered having children of your own.." she asked softly, not looking directly at him. She then cleared her throat and waved her hand lightly. "Never mind. I don't know why I asked... It's really none of my business. I apologize."

Even as he watched Kae's face for queues of what she liked and didn't like of the plates presented, something he used to decided what he would eat more of while leaving what was more palatable to her, he found the complete silence throughout the meal a bit awkward. When he went out with the others Mara would always talk even Tri interjected something now and then or he would throw something out to tease them both. With Kae he was not completely sure if he should try or if she liked the quiet of eating in near silence, other than for the chatter of the other tables and the soft music coming from the side. After waiting a bit, while he piled his own plate, he let it go. Putting more of his attention into eating, with passable table etiquette for the restaurant, and listening absently to the conversations of the tables near them.
So when she ask her question as he finished up, he was caught completely off guard. "No!" He replied automatically shaking his head slightly before stopping, looking faintly embaressed as he finished putting the plate to the side which he had been doing before she asked. Taking that time to try and think up of a better explanation after that answer.
"Children make me feel uncomfortable " hurrying quickly before she got the wrong idea. "I was raised by humans, so most of my playmates were human " he said quietly trying to struggle to say what he wanted, how he felt. "I grew to fast? I don't know how common it is for metas in general but it " he paused frowning, it wasn't as he had to say this before. Mara and Tri assumed, Tri avoided actually talking about it either from his own discomfort or both their discomfort.
"Makes for very tense situations when one year to the other you grow 3 feet and look like a older teen...and the child you used to wrestle with grew maybe an inch. Now there are different rules and expectations you are expected to observe when you just want to punch them like you did last year which might accidently throw them across the room instead of just fall over..heh" he smiled faintly as if trying to be funny, knowing now that was something that was highly look down on at the age he apprented. Parts of him felt more mature while others were reactions of how he would react as a child...like now, he realized he should not have told her about the fighting and have just changed it to play or something. He didn't look at her at all, feeling the dread of embaressment for not knowing what maybe other metas knew and dealt with more easily than he did or just seeing reproach in her gaze.p as he saw on many of the ad- others.
It was funny that he could easily understand the more murky waters of what Mara worked with every day, the distrust and maneuvering but when it came to children it was something he would rather avoid if possible. "It is...something I have to work though" but not one he was trying very hard on, he could handle them it just make him feel like he didn't belong sometimes. Especially now when he looked more like Tri's brother than his son.
He paused moving back to her original question finally. "I might have children if I find someone I like and they want them. If I don't die of old age first " this time there was a hint of a smile even if the fear was real. There wasn't much that could be done anyways if it were true, just live. He and Tri were raised with a human mentality, which is how he could ask for a collar for Blaise without realizing the irony of it all, since he was just thinking of the safety.

Kae seemed a little taken back by his blunt and abrupt response. She hadn't realized she would be striking a cord with him, though the answer seemed to visibly relieve her for some reason. "I guess I'm partly to blame with the way that Metas grow. It differs from Meta to Meta, but generally they do grow too fast. I wish there was someway to slow things down for them, so they can enjoy life the way they were meant to." she set her plate to the side as well delicately. "I suppose I'm a little glad that you seemed to have thought this through so thoroughly. You still have a lot of growing to do... in here." she made a motion, tapping a finger to her head and smiled. "I personally had a similar dilemma though through the opposite means... I'm fairly old, but even with such a long life-span, my mentality didn't mature as fast as other races would. I was young and stupid once. I guess, I was reflecting on that. Being a young parent is hard, especially if you're still young yourself. I learned that the hard way.. and so did Alice... maybe I just hoped to pass on some wisdom. I didn't mean to stir any negative feelings." Kae paused and thought for a moment, then closed her eyes with a gentle smile. "You'll be glad to know you have plenty of time to figure it all out. While Metas do grow fast, they cannot die of natural causes. So you won't die of old age, only from some other means." She looked over what was left and sighed. "I suppose we should wrap up here before the others send out a search party for us..." she half-joked, her face actually showing a slight bit of jest for once. "Thank you for having dinner with me, Ree. It was very nice."

Ree looked stunned as if he had forgotten who it was he was talking with. No...not forgotten he never actually analyzed the words. The mother of metas.... the one who created all the original metas. He was a third generation..the fact they were not like the other races in that respect, rarely passed his mind. He had parents.. his known father had parents...and he rarely thought of anything further.
"Uh..yes yes we should. Before Mara sends someone after her car " he smiled faintly but there was an odd look on his face as if he had been blown away and was still recovering. All this time and he could have asked her about more important questions...instead of just... just.
There was a gap of silence before he spoke "Thank you..." he said finally, realizing that even with that he was told he was ...grateful. Grateful that she was trying to warn him, listened and for telling him something he didn't know but worried about. That little fact he was pretty sure he would have to think long and hard on, right now being told you were immortal when it came to old age was not something that registered at all.
This could have gone bad if he had enough time to think about it before hand, if they meet in different circumstances. A lot of what ifs... but during this time he got to know her, if a little. That she remembered when she was young and stupid helped too. "Well then, if you want to go out again I don't mind showing you other restaurants in the area " relaxing slightly catching a bit of humor on her face and remembering this was what he had been trying to do ..to get her to relax. Taking a breath he reached out for the bill and got up."Maybe something maybe a bit more palatable? I'll be right back " he grinned and motioned to the ones she had avoided as he got up to go pay the bill and have the left overs boxed so they could go.

Kae's face was less stern now, not smiling at the moment, but not as closed off emotionally as she had been before they spoke. She nodded in response to his thanks, an understanding of sorts. Then the offer came for a repeat of tonight's events. She nodded once more, a faint smile threatening to grace her lips again. "You know... I'd love that. I really enjoyed my time with you, and would honestly not mind doing this again some time." she replied, showing interest in the idea as a whole. She then watched him leave with the bill, "...he didn't have to.." she muttered to herself, but sighed as he had already walked away. Her cellphone buzzed in her pocket and she retrieved it, staring down at the lightly glowing screen. "...messages.. hmm..." she went through her text messages and paused on one, quirking an eyebrow and a smirk surfacing. She almost laughed even at when she noticed the sender of the third message. "..so much trouble with that one.." she whispered, deleted the message and then put her phone back into her pocket and waited for Ree's return before they would leave back to SIU with the left overs for the others. The ride back, she remained as quiet as she had been going there. For a moment, her head began to pound a bit, a few scattered images, but couldn't quite make out what they meant. She looked at Ree for a moment, then slid her eyes to the backseat then sighed. Kae brushed it off as imagining things and returned to staring out the window, the only difference from last time being a faint smile on her face as she watched the buildings move past in the distance.
