"Thanks a ton, Zeke." Iorek smiled at the ticket. "I'll pay you back."

Iorek looked to where Anya was motioning and watched the woman on her way out. "I don't know....I think Zeke might be right. There could be a catch, ya know?" And lately in life there always seemed to be some kind of bargain with how everything worked out. Fel essences probably could work the same way. At least this one wasn't physically destructive...just had the chance of being emotionally so.

"I'm gonna take a jar just in case. If it's a mover I don't want us to go on a chase if we could catch it while we're up there."
Iorek took the bag for a quick moment and rummaged through it to find one. "I'll be careful and try not to...uh...drop it."

He handed the bag back and looked up to the ceiling. It looked a little confusing up there but with the compasses help hopefully they could find it. "Hrm...maybe still ready another jar and vial...just in case?"

Making sure he was good to go Reks gave his wings a mighty flap, kicking up dust and gum wrappers in a not so majestic fashion "We'll be back soon! Let's go guys!" Iorek grinned at his fellow raevans feeling suddenly excited about this.

Unlike Anya Reks was very good at flying. He gave his wings one more strong flap and shot upwards with ease. The higher he went the lighter he felt. Warmth radiated through him as he climbed up and up until he was amongst the ceiling beams. Up here Reks felt so...happy! It had been a while since he felt this peppy and filled with delight. He gripped the jar and looked back down to see where his buddies were. "Come on, gang! It's great up here!"

BEEEP BEEEEEEEEEP

The security guards in the area were not ignorant as Iorek flew upwards the ceiling of the train station. Loud whistles were heard as two rushed on over shouting. "YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED UP THERE!!! GET BACK DOWN HERE NOW!!!!" One of them turn towards the group, noting the similarly half-bodied organisms accompanying two humans. With firm strides he began to walk over, looking angry. "You!! You're with him aren't you?!" Curious chatter and whispers were heard as everyone's attention were drawn towards the Frei on the support beams up top.

However, that was when Iorek saw it, a faint glint in the not very far distant. It was floating just behind a light on the steel frames on the ceiling. Thin silver lines shaped like a small cloud about a foot in width. The area it is floating in is just right over the train tracks.

A soft rumbling was heard in the distant as a train began to approach.

Silver Lining

"Every cloud has a silver lining", or so the saying goes, but one particular cloud actually had this metaphorical glitter. When the Storm encroached upon the world and blackened the skies with rain, one little puff of a cloud strangely remained its normal white color. Once the Storm finally ended and all the clouds dispersed, the only thing that remained of that single unchanged cloud was its pure silver outline which floated safely down to the Earth below. Simply holding onto the jar that contains it makes anyone feel positive that nothing will ever go wrong and if it does, there will always be something very good waiting just around the corner.

Elation filled Aadhira for a moment as he realized something: this was essentially a contest. And maybe they could win. He watched Iorek and Anya intently, hands clasped in front of him. He debated going up to fly, but instead he just held the compass between his hands, pointed at the source. The elation was shocked out of him by the sudden yelling and he took a deep breath, seeming to curl in on himself.

"Oh, please! I'm sorry, are we really not allowed? I... I lost something; it floated away and so my friends said they'd get it for me because I'm not as strong a flyer as they are." Aadhira looked at the security guard pleadingly, blue eyes wide and shining. "He will be right back down - won't it be okay? Please." Aadhira was glad Iorek had possessed the forethought to take a jar along with him; there was no way now that the jar could be passed up to him without drawing more suspicion.

Justin took his cue and stepped forward, a comforting hand on Aadhira's shoulder. He hadn't quite seen this before, but he would roll with it. "I apologize; this is my charge and the thing in question is very dear to him. I'm sure they'll be back down shortly. I understand if it's a policy, but..." At that moment, Aadhira let out a shuddering sigh, as if he couldn't possibly contain his sadness over losing the 'thing'. Justin hoped Zeke would just go with it.

The two raevans up in the rafters better be damn quick about bottling it, he thought.

Iorek breezed past Anya without any effort but the spider queen struggled to keep up. At least the ceilings weren't vaulted, otherwise she would have never made it up. At the first beam she came to Anastacia latched onto it, swiveling her wings in their joints so that she could bring them over her shoulders before resting the tips upon the cold metal with two soft but echoy 'ting ting' sounds. As she did so, the vibrations she sent out brought a clearer picture of the darkened ceiling to her eyes, but other than a few scattered spiders and their webs, a few bits of trash - How on earth...? - and something that 'looked' suspiciously like an empty nest, there was nothing.

"Any luck?" She called to her companion, struggling to find him in the gloom. She made the dark light up in her mind again with a second 'ting ting', but Iorek wasn't resting a hand or a wing on anything so he was not a part of the picture. Down below there was a shrill beeping and the sound of voices and up here they echoed over the din with authority and a great deal of 'stick in a**' tones.

"Oh great..." Anya frowned but then she snorted at the scene in the fog below her, her lips curling upward at the corners into a bonified smirk. "If we get arrested, at least it'll make for an interesting story!"

Zeke was about to threaten Iorek about "paying him back" but the Gargoyle was on the up and up with a jar before he could.

Ah well. Later then. He would also have to commend him for grabbing a jar to take with him - smart move, even if the Essence proved to be one of the rare, luckily harmless ones.

Noticing Aadi still down with him and Justin, Zeke was about to ask if the Peacock was going to ascend with the older Frei, but that loud beeping cut those words off before they could even start. The sound sent a sudden cold shock up his spine, making him shudder even though he smiled reflexively at the accusatory tones of the security detail skidding to a stop before them. His mind went blank for a split second on what to say or even really do, but Aadhira took the reins like a pro. Justin followed suit without skipping a beat and it was about that point Zeke caught up with them.

"Yeah officer, I mean, how many times have kids lost balloons up there, eh? We're just the fortunate folk to have a couple winged friends along to help us out here!" He wrapped his arm around Aadi's shoulders and squeezed the Frei into his side. "Don't worry kiddo, I'm sure Iorek and Anya are on their way back down right now!" He wanted so badly to look up and hope to see the skyward Freis there but he kept his eyes and his smile on the rent-a-cops. "Once they are we'll be on our merry ways I promise! And hey, think of it this way - no need to break out the cherry picker to get his thing back for him! Money saved means happy bosses am I right or am I right?"

Iorek could hear someone shouting from below but now was not the time to listen. It was time to take a risk!

"Don't be silly, we won't get arrested. We're doing a good thing! They'll thank us when we're through." Reks laughed and searched for where the essence was. If this wasn't a recovery mission Iorek probably would have been content to just let the fel essence thrive. Sure Kyou wouldn't have his collection back...but would it be so bad to just let it keep bringing happiness here at the station? It could bring an awful lot of good here judging by how content people seemed to be.

Too bad they had work to do and he couldn't let down the Lab.

Luckily a little glint caught his eye. It cut through the dark and dreariness of the subway station ceiling beams.

"Gotcha!"

Iorek drew slowly upon it, being ever so cautious incase it would zoom off. When he was right beside it he had a much better view of it and goodness it was adorable! A cute little cloud just floating lazily about. Iorek grinned widely and held back a sound that would probably have been a squeal of glee. It was radiant! He had found their first missing fel essence! Maybe he was still capable of helping people out?

The rumbling sound of a train luckily brought Reks out of his happy daze. Now was not the time to dawdle! Quickly Iorek hurried open the jar, scooped the cloud into it, and popped the stopper in without another thought.

Phew! Thank goodness he caught it in time. Iorek couldn't let it get hit by the train! Although...if it was hit...it would break off into tinier clouds and everyone could take a piece of it home with them....

Iorek had to shake himself out of that thought and flew back in the direction he came in with the jar tucked securely against his chest.

"Got it!" He shouted to Anya over the noise as he passed her and headed down to where the group was.

"Safe and sound."
Reks tucked the jar into his shirt before he made it back in view of the rent-a-cop. He still hid behind the clump of guys as they waited for Anya to descend. "Sorry sir, we'll uh, be going now. Have a wonderful day! Let's go guys." As good as Iorek's hearing was, he had no clue what they may have been saying to security. So...best to head out ASAP.

"If it were just a balloon, we could buy him another," Justin said, trying to surreptitiously wiggle his hand out from where it had been trapped between Aadi's shoulder and Zeke's sudden arm. "It's not quite a balloon, though a trinket, and the damn thing floats, but he loves it," Justin said to the guards, because who knew how much trouble they'd get in if that blatant lie was figured out. It would be clear from just a glance up that there were no balloons in sight.

"It's my favorite," Aadhira insisted pitifully. Zeke pulling him in close had caused him to stiffen and almost yank himself away, but they had a job to do. He didn't like people just touching him for no reason and quashed the urge to snap, instead giving the security detail a pitiful look.

The security's eyes looked up when the darker skinned Raevan mentioned about losing something up there. Even squinting, he don't see anything, only Iorek creeping nearer to the area right above the tracks. Which is dangerous. "COME BACK DOWN HERE NOW OR WE'RE CALLING THE POLICE!!" He nearly had a heart attack when the train did came in at that very moment. He had pulled out his stun gun but realized that shooting Iorek might make him fall onto the train.

Thankfully, both Raevans came back down at that very moment. Seeing that they are back down onto the platform, the security guard seemed to pacify a little as he holster back his stun gun. His eye searched Iorek carefully for whatever trinket he was retrieving back though, but not seeing any. "I ought to give you guys some sort of ticket for trespassing, but I'm going to let you go this time. Now scram before I change my mind!"

The security watched with his hands on his waist as the group followed the crowd out of the station, which is on the other end of the platform from where they came in from.

As if karma was playing a joke on them though, when they got back to Justin's car, there is a ticket on the windshield. As with the cars parked in front of and behind them. There is a reason there wasn't a sign or parking meter along this row, because it's not a parking area.

On the bright side, at least they got out unscathed from the train station?

If he shoots either of them I'll... Zeke's smile didn't falter even as his eyes followed the stun gun's procession from holstered, to pointed, back to being holstered again. His hold on Aadhira had relaxed and dropped away completely during that time, his left hand starting a slow curl into a fist.

"Oh I'm sure they will!" Her tone was cheery and her words even had a lilt to them as she followed Iorek's voice through the gloom. At the Gargoyle's proclaim of capture, Anastacia clapped her hands and took once more to the air. As clumsy as ever when taking wing, instead of a scoff her tipsy, scrambling movements instead elicited a titter from the Widow and a proclaim of "I'm REALLY not good at this!" as she descended with the other Frei.

Iorek was the first to land and Zeke was quick to wrap an arm around the Gargoyle's shoulders and pull him in for effect. "See? Here we are, safe and sound!" He thumped Iorek on the back for effect as Anya came back to earth and Zeke was about to say something about her, but was stopped by sheer shock of the expression on her face. "I need to take a photo. No one will ever believe me otherwise."

"Hello, sorry for all the trouble," she did not notice Zeke or his gape when she landed, instead addressing the security guard as if she and Iorek hadn't almost gotten tasered for their efforts. "We're back now, so yes, we can leave." She turned her smile on her group, Iorek included. "Sorry for the wait, I'm not very good at flying!"

Zeke was stammering. She caught the look now and after almost six years, it finally made her laugh.

"What?"

"You're...You're smiling. Anya, you're LAUGHING."

"You're so weird!" She waved him off with added airs and led the procession out. "C'mon now - places to go, people to see!"

As soon as they were outside her eyes fell on the car and its ticket. The Virus Raevan made a soft 'ooh...' sound before turning to look at Justin.

"No worries, I'm sure the Lab will pay you back for it!"

Iorek just smiled and waved from then on once he touched back down to earth. It was best to just let the guard yell and boot them out than to defend their actions since they were all set with the train station. Hip hip hooray they had found their first fel essence!

And the little group even got to see a smile come out of it from Anya. And then she was even laughing! What a sight to behold. Pretty job all around around.

Til they saw the ticket. Yikes.

"You should be good. The lab can handle it. Now, where to next?"

They all huddled around the compass, loaded up into the car, and headed off in the direction it was pointing. Before they knew it they were sitting pretty outside the police station. At least this time they had some actual parking spots right off the bat.

"Oh....oh bother..." Iorek grimaced as he got out of the squished car and looked over the building. Here they just got away from the rent-a-cop and now they get to hang out with more cops....lovely.

"Best to put this away then."
The gargoyle hadn't even noticed he was still holding onto the Fel Essence until now. He had showed it off to everyone in the car but had yet to actually let it go. It was just so cute floating lazily in the jar. Plus Iorek capturing the cloud was a much needed accomplishment for him. It had been so long since he had some good luck a part of him just didn't want to put it down. Ah well. Reks gave it one last pat and tucked it into the backpack.

Stretching out his stiff arms Iorek looked back at the rag-tag crew. "You all ready? Long as we're nice and polite hopefully we should be good."

Justin cursed when he saw the ticket, A beat, then: "Don't repeat that, Aadhira." He wasn't worried about the Lab paying off the ticket; he had money to spare, even taking into account his recent stint with unemployment. Electronics were his only true weakness, and other than that, he'd scrimped and saved and invested.

"I don't repeat filth," Aadhira said mildly, more interested in watching Anya's smiling face and the way Iorek still held onto the bottle. Still, he made a note. It was hardly well done to curse, he thought, especially when a person could cut so much better with words.

---------

The car ride was smooth and uneventful, excepting one truck that tried to cut them off. Justin bit back a curse again. He wasn't usually so high-strung... okay, maybe he was, but it didn't typically manifest in cursing. Aadhira simply doodled on a piece of scrap paper. Later, Justin would discover it was the back of one of his title papers for the car. Once arrived, they poured out of the car. Aadhira looked up at the station, mind ticking with ways things could go wrong and various ways to cover. But he stopped himself, and floated towards Iorek.

"Well done. You fly wonderfully." With a bright smile, he turned and held out the compass to Anya. "Would you do the honors?"

The parking lot of the police station is pretty big, as is the police station building itself. About 60 cars could be parked in the squarish parking lot, which is just a huge open air area with small trees dotting the edges. There are about 15 police cars parked near or against the police building itself. And the other 20 or so cars were visitors of the police station. The parking lot is actually devoid of people at the moment, as all the police officers are inside.

Oddly enough, when they reached the area of the town where the police station is, the sky had darken a little bit, like it was about to rain. Faint sound of thunder could be heard above them.

If Anya would look closely at the petri dish, she would see that the needle is pointing upwards again. Well, as best as it could point upwards anyway due to the limited space inside. There is nothing above them aside from the sky, and the dark clouds gathering around the area. Strangely enough it wasn't especially windy, given the type of weather it is seemingly turning into.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 26, 2016 12:45 pm

"Well talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire." Aekea's police department was fittingly huge for the city, even if this was probably only one lone station out of several more strewn throughout. If the Essence was inside...Zeke clucked his tongue. "So who wants to volunteer for a Junior Police Officer ride-along?" Although he wasn't so sure cops still did that sort of thing nowadays.

With the close proximity to the Essence the entire way over, Anya hadn't stopped being held under its influence. She wasn't to the level of exuding sunshine like Zeke usually was and did, but her face was still set in a smile (and had been captured on Zeke's cellphone several times over before the lot had squeezed into Justin's car).

"Oh it's pretty!" She hadn't really been able to see the thin silver outline of a cloud between the dark rafters of the station and Iorek's massive hands, but now that he showed it off it was quite plain to see. It was also rather plain in truth - a literal silver lining - but the way the sun shined off it was charming and its diminutive size was quite endearing. "Good idea, Iorek. The last thing we need is it being confiscated!"

They all got out and Aadhira offered her the compass.

"Sure! Why not?" She took it from him with a slight dip of thanks, holding back a moment while Zeke and the others moved toward the police station to observe the needle. It was pointing straight...no...wait...Up? The tip of the sewing needle went 'tick tick tick' against the plastic cover holding it and the water inside. Anya looked up, first at the building, then further at the darkening sky.

"Wait! Wait a second!"

Zeke had started the march - trying hard to think of any and every excuse that would grant them access to a building full to the brim of armed men and a bunch of reasons why the public couldn't just wander the halls. When Anya called out he stopped, turned around to look at her with brows raised.

"Everything okay, Anya?" He watched her give the dish a little shake, her brows dip down into a concentrated furrow, before she pointed ever so blatantly at the sky.

"The needle...It's pointing up!"

Iorek drew back into the group after a good stretch and leaned in to check out the petri dish. "Oh! Thanks Aadi! I try." He chuckled and flushed at the sweet compliment. He was pretty proud of his ability to fly about. All part of training! It was always best to have strength and agility.

Glancing at the little arrow Reks arched a brow. Up? Again? Based on the stormy scene they were now in this had to be all relevant to the fel essence. So maybe they wouldn't have to rumble with cops but with the weather? Eh...probably for the best.

"So....it's up there?" Reks looked up at the dark sky. Hopefully this wouldn't be too dangerous.

"Looks like we'll have to fly up there again. Probably best to grab a vial or a jar and head on up. I guess it's the raevans again. Sorry guys." Reks looked between Aadi and Anya. Anya wasn't the best of flyers and there probably wasn't much to grab onto up there. Aadhira he wasn't exactly sure about but his wings looked sturdier than the spiders. Either way, he'd offer help when the time came to that if his raevan buds needed it.
PostPosted: Sun May 01, 2016 4:53 pm

Aadhira swallowed his sigh and grabbed a vial. He had to be a good sport about this, of course, but if it rained and ruined his clothing and hair... ugh. He shot a grin at Anya. "You'll have to guide us, Anya." And with that, he stretched his wings out and started upwards.

"Iorek, let's get this done quickly!"

------

"Oh my god, be careful, Aadhira!" But the raven was already up and away. Justin sighed and turned to Zeke. "If... there's lightning, we can't continue - what if one of them get hit?"

(( If I roll under 5, I'll hit one of the Raevans. 20-30 I'll hit one of the cars below, with 30 being Justin's car. ))

As the Raevans began to ascend, something descended in a flash. It was like this bright white laser shooting out of the sky. In a bright flash, a straight lightning struck the ground behind the car in front of Justin and Zeke, just missing the car by a few inches. Thankfully, it did not activate the car's alarm. A thundering noise was heard above them a second later, as the cloud above began to glow once more, seemingly ready to strike again.
