It was easy for Fiona to lean into Cordelia, to slide her arm around the other woman's waist and lean into her. Mismatched eyes closed and she focused on her breathing, enjoying the simpleness that was them.
Khaleel seems like he's crazy about you.
Fiona pulled away quickly, eyes snapping open and she looked up at Cordelia with wide eyes. "You know - you know we're not together right?" The possibility hadn't even crossed Fiona's mind, though she was aware of how the might appear to others.
They were close, but she attributed it to the fact that she was the first one he'd met after he became a senshi and, well, Altais struck her as someone who imprinted quickly. She just happened to be the recipient. "As for Fritz, yeah. He's recovering from whatever was ailing him. And you know, I'm really lucky to have you Cordy. I didn't - I never thought I'd get this after...you know."
Her partner hadn't died but she still lost him.
"I think we can do it. You've got me and we can do it. Ohana means family and family means no one gets left behind."

"No one gets left behind or forgotten." Cordelia flashed Fiona a smile as she rocked back, wiping at her eyes with her arm to brush away any lingering traces of tears. It was just in time, it seemed, for the knock at the door signaling that their food had arrived. Her hand went to Fiona's shoulder for a moment, giving it a light squeeze before heading for the door. She signed off on the credit slip, adding on a tip for the delivery driver along with her thanks as she set the bag containing their meals on the coffee table in the living room. "So not with Khaleel? Does that mean you're with Fritz and Khal doesn't know about it? Or is he just the adorable sort who latches on and adores any girl who smiles at him?" Her brow lofted as she returned to the kitchen, checking on the tea before getting two cups down along with the jar of honey from the farmer's market. They could talk about more serious things later-- It had been far too long since she'd gotten to actually talk about boys.

With that being settled, it was easy to fall back on the age-old conversation that most girls coveted. Talking about boys and them in relation to boys. It made Fiona laugh, bright and surprised, with her eyes following her friend while she gathered the tea components.
"No, but I think I'm his best friend," she commented fondly. She cared a lot about Khaleel, which was obvious in the way they acted around each other and how fiercely, even those brief moments in the midst of that chaotic battle, the protected each other. "I'm not dating Fritz either."
She shook her head, unable to suppress the laughter bubbling within her. "He's certainly in no position to be dating, not while he's recovering. We're - we're friends." The redhead was quiet for a moment, silently analyzing her relationships with the boys in her life. "I think I just have weird friendships with guys. They're important to me but I'm not involved with anyone."
Fiona was, undeniably, single and had been since she was eighteen and Kam cheated on her. She'd long since forgiven him because he'd been in a terrible state, he was in a terrible state and she was working to help him with that too. "I have a thing for broken boys I think."
She thought about Fritz and the voices he heard, Khaleel with his desire to spend most of his time with her, Kam and his self-deprecating nature, and then Jamie, who was so uncertain about himself that it about broke her heart. "You haven't met Kam or Jamie but - I bet if you saw us together you'd think we might be dating too."

"Well, that makes me feel a little bit less awkward in saying that I knew Fritz before I met him again at your place after our recent adventure-- Knew of him, at least. We ran into each other at a movie rental place on Valentine's Day a few years ago and almost went on a date." Her cheeks were lightly flushed and she shook her head, chuckling softly while thinking about how something had come up and they'd swapped numbers but nothing had ever come of it. "Boys are... They're strange. I think the last time I'd thought of one in any sort of romantic context it was Eric, Oddy, but it was definitely one-sided. He was clueless and..." Cordelia shook her head again as she filled the tea cups before setting one down in front of Fiona along with the jar of honey and a spoon. "All of those boys are lucky to have a friend who cares as much as you do. I'm lucky to have a friend like you, Fiona."

"I wouldn't have minded anyway. Fritz would've been one lucky guy to have gotten to go on a date with you," Fiona replied, slipping fingers through the handle of the cup and tugging it towards her. She stared at the liquid for a moment trying to process everything.
"I've been on...two dates since my last relationship." Seven years and she'd only gone on two dates. "One of them was a blind date and the other, well we'd both gotten convinced to give online dating a try and I don't know. I could've liked him but - " They'd both been pretty ******** up over their last relationships. Kam had done a number on her and well, the girl Parker dated had turned him down when he proposed.
"It took me five years and a really, really angry conversation for me to be able to move on from my high school boyfriend." Which, now that she'd said it aloud, sounded ridiculous but Fiona was prideful and her relationship with Kam had been near perfect before he shut her out. She hardly talked about him, Chase knew details because he'd been there but otherwise? Fiona hadn't talked about it with anyone except her brother who she had to talk out of hunting the man down.
Her parents didn't even know what had happened.
She shook her head, reached for the honey and dropped two spoonfuls into her cup. "Thanks," she mumbled quietly, stirring her tea before setting the spoon down. "I'm lucky to have you Cordy, I hope you realize that."

"You don't need to be in a relationship with anyone-- Not ever if it's not something you're ready for or interested in." Her hand had fallen to rest on Fiona's shoulder as the other woman had spoken, giving it a firm but gentle squeeze in an attempt to be reassuring. "From my experience, that's what friends are for anyways; all of the cuddles and couch time, none of the other stuff that complicates things." The smile that she flashed Fiona didn't quite reach her eyes, but it came close enough that it at least lightened the tone of her voice. "We can talk about it, if you want, but if you don't that's entirely okay too. We can head out to the couch, open up our Chinese and start watching silly movies instead; forget about all of this everything for a while..." They were likely to get mushy, otherwise-- Not that they weren't already mushy; not that it was bad. Sometimes the serious things needed to make their way out in the open or they just gnawed and ate away. Sometimes, though, they needed to be set aside and talked about bit by bit instead of all at once so they didn't drag down or overwhelm. She didn't want Fiona to feel like she needed to worry right now. Cordelia was fairly certain the ginger woman had worried enough to last her a lifetime over the past few weeks.

Fiona was quiet as Cordelia spoke, drifting far too deep in her thoughts to do more than nod. What she was saying was absolutely true and the redhead didn't feel like a relationship was missing from her life. Besides, she had her friends and a boyfriend would only complicate things further.
"I'm holding you to those cuddle days, okay?" She teased, reaching up to grasp at the hand on her shoulder. "Also, exploit Khaleel when you need a good cuddle. He's great. Like a teddy bear only better." Of course, that probably didn't help Cordelia's speculation that they were, or could be, a thing.
"Ah, well - " Fiona didn't know if she wanted to talk about Kam. "Okay," she assented, standing and tugging her companion towards the living room. "It's a long story but, you know how I told off that mouthy knight? It was kinda like that. Only private. I might've cried."

"You can definitely hold me to the cuddle days." Cordelia flashed Fiona a smile as they settled on the couch. The food smelled wonderful and she was definitely ready for the distraction from everything for a little bit. "Sometimes I think I let my emotions get the best of me now-- Other times? I don't feel like I let them push me enough. Doing this," she made a gesture with her hand in an attempt to summarize everything that they got up to, "I think you need emotions. We need the fear to keep us from doing something completely stupid, the love to keep us together and the passion to keep us going."

"We'll work on it," Fiona assured following Corvus into the other room, eager for food. "We've got each other - we've got the boys. We'll be okay."
She was certain about that because for the first time in a long while, the woman felt safe and like she had something personal to protect. That made all the difference to her.
"Come on, let's watch something and eat until we can't anymore." She didn't want to focus on life, just enjoying it.

"We will be okay." Cordelia nodded as she shifted to snag the remote, hitting the 'play' button once they were both settled on the couch for a much needed, well earned girl's night in.
