Ever had Rep by the curiosity now and he was completely ensnared by the thought that something was potentially possessing or acting through the other man. It could be the grail, it could be a legacy, it could be anything. He hadn't mentioned his own gaps because he had never actually been checked out for any of it, he still avoided discussing the time when he'd missed out on what seemed to be Morgana (according to those who had shared in the ******** up dream) ******** everything up from exactly where he'd been standing. It had precedent and that precedent was right in the direction of his interests.
"Sure man. Mibbie I can be helpful for more than just flitting furniture. Maybe. At a long shot."
For now he tried to focus on the task at hand and not touching the back of his hand.
"Getting a new room is always such a ******** relief."

There, finally, was the Ever that Rep had expected: a sideways look, a slight tip of his head, a quirk of a smile. Flirting in a distracted sort of way as he got the door to 104 open and shouldered it in to a room empty of anything even remotely personal except for the iron maiden in one corner [and its contents, not actually filled with holes but fitted between] and the rack, currently vertical, up against the wall. Ever'd collected the rest of his things, and already shoved them into one corner of the room directly above. "I'm sure you're useful for all kinds of things." It came like a punchline, as he dragged fingers through his hair, standing in the middle of the near-empty room.

Rep, nosey as ever looked around Ever's room, in his usual kleptomaniac way looking for anything that might not be missed, only to conciously push the instinct aside and focus on the task at hand.
"Naw, you'd be surprised." he said. "I'm generally no worth the talents I offer. Lots of complicated s**t usually becomes an issue besides. Lot of ******** up relationships and whatever at my hands. I'm better as mercenary help." He beelined for the rack, picking it up to hold it by the legs across his back. The effort was satisfying, the rich heat of awakened muscles always a pleasant feeling to him, especially when coupled with the idea he was being helpful in doing so.
"Right, lead the way to the room." he said with a bit of cheer.

"You definitely talk too much." Ever offered it absently as he stepped out of the hall -- backwards, slowly, so that he could watch the way Rep moved. His own hands were in his pockets, and despite the new colors on his coat, Ever hadn't actually tried to move anything himself. Maybe he could have lifted it, but he had his doubts. There were strong hunters. Rep, for instance. But he wasn't one of them. "And you're too judgmental, I'll give you that. Frankly, I'm surprised you're even..." The word fled. Ever gestured to the rack on Rep's back as he walked.

At least at first Rep didn't seem too put off by the comment that he talked too much, continuing on in his rambling for a bit. "I'm no judgemental really, I mean I say s**t about people but I don't carry it, it doesn't like reach deep down into the heart of me and change me, I find it really hard to carry a proper grudge for most s**t, the things I carry grudges about are things that like, got to me for a long long time and like.."
Only then did the comment on talking too much seem to catch up with him, the animated grin and easy manner seeming to melt off of him, leaving him withdrawn and sullen, cutting off the openness which had surfaced amiably. Everything about him seemed to shut down self-conciously.
"I'm helping you because I'm ********' bored." he said, and just irritably made his way along.

"God forbid you actually want to spend time in my charming company." It was dry, though, and without malice -- because as much as Rep dissolved into his own self-hatred [visibly, in this case], Ever instead wore his on his sleeve. Not hatred, though, just an absent kind of dismissal. He wasn't charming, and he could hardly carry a rack, and he wasn't even particularly hot, but it seemed to roll off him like water of a duck's back. Low expectations of self led to little self-consciousness, in his case. He grinned a gain, sudden and sharp. "But are you saying, then, that you don't actually mean what you say? All of it, the...the..." Words, again. He drew a breath and counted to five. "It's just a game? Or what, then?"

Rep didn't reply this time at first, simply grunted to Ever's comment about his charming company, determined for at least a few moments not to talk too much.
But being Rep, when someone asked him a direct comment he couldn't help himself but respond to it.
"I mean it when I say it, but that's aw it ******** is. Its just a moment, a thought in that moment, its no something I expect people to change their lives around or even to ******** listen to. Especially no bitches, women don't ******** listen to anything. They lie to themselves and everyone around them. Lotta guys are like, trained up by them to think the same way. "
He repositioned the rack on his shoulders. "Its when people carry the s**t I say for years that completely ******** blows my goddamn mind."

"But you also carry the s**t you say for years, is the thing." He shook his head, pausing on the stairs to look down at Rep. For all his teasing, there was something serious behind the words, now, genuinely curious. Probing, just a bit. Personal. "You let it pass, but then you say the same thing again. I mean, you're hardly the first person to call me a f**, but you're definitely the only one who's said it so many times, while still helping me out the second I need it." He licked his lips, hopping up a step to stay ahead from Rep. "I can't get a grip on which is what you really think, and which is the face you show people."

Rep had to agree with Ever to some extent, the comments themselves were glancing, not really tied to a person or place, but the deep rooted reasons which underpinning those comments remained constant and enduring. "I guess that's right." he said clipped and irritable still.
"Guess there's two mes. One's what is manly as ********. The other is what I am. Neither are good, neither are clearly different. Sometimes it doesn't match up right." and he shrugged. "But that doesn't matter, I don't care about like, contradictions. Like you are a scummy f** who is ******** creepy and probably promiscuous and ******** riddled with disease and you are also some c**t I feel like helping. It makes perfect sense to me."

Ever made a faint noise as he paused at the top of the stairs -- their task almost done, alas. Though, in this moment at least, he didn't exactly mind that. Even a human punching bag could only take so much Rep. "That's ridiculous, man. You know we can't get diseases." At least he sounded easy about it, distantly amused, rolling his shoulders in a shrug. "You still okay?"

Rep was glad to see the end of his task, feeling a little too shaken and a little too vulnerable to be in a social situation and willing to get himself away from Ever and spare the man any further oversharing on his part.
"They don't need to be diseases we can see." he said. "Just ones I can see." His muscles protesting was satisfying, even where it had begun to turn to pain, keeping him grounded. He felt like he was doing something, like he was worth something and that was payment unto itself.
"I'm awright. It's a good wee workout. " he was visibly winded from the trek up the stairs but didn't seem deterred by this.

"You want a drink?" there was just a pause, brief, before Ever made the offer -- fairly sure that Rep would turn him down, but not certain. He pointed, thumb over his shoulder, toward a box of contraband in the corner. The fact that in addition to several bottles of truly shitty vodka it also contained a box of condoms would probably put the nail in the coffin of Rep's acceptance. Still. He smiled and raised his eyebrows in question.

Rep didn't think anything of being offered a drink and wasn't one to turn down free s**t. When it came to any other potentially ulterior motives he was always extremely oblivious and considered the world to be mostly full of people who wanted to give him free things or wanted free things from him. It was a strange blind spot in the attitude of someone who was normally so deeply suspicious of everyone else.
"Sure." he said. "If you'd part with it, I've been in the mood to get smashed lately and don't like doing it at the bar while I'm working."

For a moment, he just looked startled -- maybe a bit deer in headlights, like he didn't know what to do with Rep's yes. He licked his lips once, though, rolled his shoulders, and settled casually back into his skin. Two steps back to beckon Rep inward, into a room that was more or less empty, the sheets on the bed a tousled mess and most of his clothes piled onto a battered chair that had been stolen from some forgotten office somewhere. "I don't have any mixers. I finally got back, and the ******** portals are closed." It came with a little huff of breath, as he reached into one of the boxes and came up with two red plastic cups. "So it'll be straight. And warm, unless you want to wade out to get some of that snow..." Still. He'd pour a finger of cheap vodka for each of them, without waiting for Rep to agree.

Rep's smile was broad, oblivious to any and all implications of what he might well have just said, curiously following into the room, as always like an animal when permitted access to someone else's living space, curiously fixed on the smells and sights of someone else's domestic life.
"Straight's how I almost always drink it anyway." Rep said, ignoring the obvious joke lurking in the comment. "I'm no one to water s**t down or take away the bite." He didn't seem to bothered by the temperature either, extending a hand for the vodka.
"Alcohol's one of the few good ******** things on this whole goddamn island." And he had been drinking a lot more of it lately than he'd really let on.
