 Cam smiled brightly at Fig, very happy to be with him and to be on this date with him, everything had been amazing. "Thank you Fig, your a wonderful teacher." She said warmly Camrine walked into the place with Fig, she wouldn't have minded if they had gone to a tiny cafe, as long as she got to spend more time with Fig. Cam smiled "That's good, after all that dance I don't think I want anything too heavy." She cringed at the thought of something like pot roast and the tummy ache she'd likely get from that. Cam followed Fig to their booth seat. "Would you like to order for both of us??" She said with a wink, to see what he would order without Camrine telling him what to do.

 "Nor could I, plus it's getting a bit late in the day for some big, heavy meal. I'd hate for our date to be the cause of one or both of us having upset stomachs into the night." Fig's brows rose a few degrees and his antennae gave a slight bobble at Cam's suggestion, a slightly nervous quirk pulling at the corners of his lips with her wink. "Ah, sure! I can try." Gracious, it almost felt like a pop quiz or something. He didn't want to fail the pretty Imp across the table from him, or getting her feeling sick from a poor choice of food. Holding his menu a little higher, he skimmed the offerings more intently. "Perhaps we could split something, since gorging this late would be a bad idea," He said without looking up from the menu. He prayed she'd be okay with a vegetarian option if she was down for sharing. Like many of his people, Fig was a vegetarian as eating meat made him supremely uncomfortable and sometimes even a bit sick at the thought of it. He wasn't ever really bothered by being around folks that ate meat, so long as they didn't try to foist bites and nibbles at him. Being a vegetarian was his choice, and he wouldn't stomp on anyone else's choice to not be one. "Um...A hot jasmine tea for my lovely date and," The fey paused as his eyes drifted between a couple of serious contenders. "We'll split an order of your crustless kale and shallot quiche and could we get a side order of sweet potato fries please."
He finally lowered his menu and handed it to the waitress, who jotted everything down and excused herself to turn in their orders and get started on their drinks. Fig sighed upon her departure, fiddling with his napkin with a mildly furrowed brow. "I hope that's okay. I'm not comfortable eating meat, but I think it'll be warm and just filling enough to not bog us down. Plus, it'll be fun to share with you. You're welcome to sample my drinks when they get here. Er, well, I'm sure the cider is nothing unusual, but the mulled wine, I thought might be an interesting thing to try." Why in the world did he feel so flustered?! He put his down and cradled his face in his hands, sheepishly grinning to Cam. "Did I do okay?" Sure, he was a confident and lively dancer on the dance floor, but in this instance, he felt all fidgety and just wanted to see Cam be happy, to see her smile. "Many Fey, like myself, are vegetarian for our desire of non-violence, for peace for living things. If-if you'd like something meaty though, we can let the waitress know when she comes back with our drinks."

Camrine smiled brightly splitting something was a cute idea "Sure we can split something that sounds really nice." Cam said warmly, Camrine nodded, she didn't mind vegetarian food, though sometimes she did like meat, she preferred chicken when she did eat meat which was kinda funny, since quiche was made of eggs. Shallots were yummy, she looked forward to trying the items that Fig ordered. Especially the sweet potato fries they sounded wonderful. "So are you a vegetarian??" Cam asked curiously wanting to know more about Fig. Cam smiled when he answered the question she had been pondering. "It's alright with me, though I hope you don't mind if I still eat chicken sometimes." Camrine blushed. "I don't mind eating vegi burgers instead of burgers made of real meat." Camrine laughed. Camrine nodded "All the food and drink you ordered sounds wonderful, I don't mind at all, as long as you don't mind things I care about, like family and friendship, and a chicken sandwich for me once in a while."

Camrine's encouraging agreement of sharing helped sooth his nerves somewhat. He nodded simply at her question. "I am," Fig said with a smile as she assured him she was okay with it. Waving his hands through the air in front of him, he shook his head. "Oh, I don't mind at all! I couldn't and wouldn't ask you to change any aspect of yourself for me or anyone. I don't have trouble eating around or with people who eat meat. I just can't have any myself. I've been vegetarian for my whole. I was six when one of my classmates convinced me to try a bite of their meat and cheese sandwich. It didn't taste bad, but the texture in my mouth felt weird and when I thought about what it was, I cried." He chuckled, shaking his head at himself. "I was a mess. That was my first and last time trying meat. I don't get offended by folk who eat meat. I've got my own foods that fill me up and make me happy. It's all good." Fig sighed relieved, resting a hand on his chest next to his flower. "I'm glad you think so. I hope it's good. I know the sweet potato fries are top notch, but I've not tried the quiche." The fey smiled at his date, leaning forward to place a hand on top of hers. "Cam, there is nothing I love and enjoy more than family and friends, and who I am to deny a lady her chicken sandwiches."
He leaned back as the waitress returned with their drinks, setting the tea in front of Cam and Fig's two drinks in front of him before assuring them that their food was almost done. "Thank you," He said as she moved off once more. Refocusing on his date, Fig took a sip of his cider before speaking. "What say you to us getting to know each other a little better while we wait? Question for question, honest answers all? Could be fun," He grinned across the table to her.

Camrine smiled liking Fig all the more, they accepted each other so far and that meant a lot to Cam, she wanted to accept him and have him accept her as she was in return. "I'm so glad you agree to those things." Cam smiled softly and then thought a moment "Alright question for question, so would you like to go first??" Camrine laughed unsure what to ask, she was pretty sure, his favorite colors were orange, red and brown, from their conversation back during the jubilee. His favorite food clearly was vegetarian food. "Or perhaps you'd like to answer what you want most in the near future??" Camrine giggled. Wondering what Fig would answer, she knew her answer would be to make her relationship with Fig more official, but she wanted to know what Fig thought first.

Pleased at the prospect of some back and forth questioning, Fig tittered when Cam asked a few questions. "Well, that's a few questions there, but I shall answer the last one. What do I want most in the near future?" He sniffed and pondered to himself, taking a long sip of his cider. "Well, I think I've come to a pretty good point in my life to consider settling down, getting married, having kids. My parents would shun me if they didn't get grandbabies somewhere down the line." Chuckling as he shook his head, he arched his brows to Cam. "And you? What do you foresee for the near future?"
The waitress came hustling back, with a tray of food, some spare napkins, and an order of sweet potato fried. "Is there anything else you two might need? Refills, dipping sauce for those fries?"

Camrine smiled brightly at Fig's answer "That's what I see to settling down, imbueing stones, teaching my kids to knitt and cook." Camrine said warmly "I would likely get in huge trouble with my parents if I became a old vespercat lady as well." Cam said with a smirk. She reached for a sweet potato fry. "So any idea who you see yourself settling down with." Camrine shook her head and said "No thank you." to the waitress looking to Fig to see if he needed anything.

"Well, I wouldn't say no to a couple of vespercats. I'm pretty sold on the one I've found myself with." He nodded. "But, yes, real babies in addition to fur babies." Fig waved off the waitress's questioning gaze. "Oh, no, really. I'm fine. Thank you though, miss. This looks great." The waitress, satisfied, moved away to check on her other tables. "Now, for your next question," The fey paused to chuckle, carving himself a bite out of the quiche. "I answer with another question. Is the possibility to learn the truth now, greater than the prospective surprise later?" He quirked a brow as he ate his bite of their shared meal. A distraction was in order! A change of topic! "Cam, I'm curious. I know how my people go about romance and courting those they are interested in; how do yours?"

Camrine smiled "I agree pets are wonderful" Then she blinked a bit confused and she frowned "Learn the truth now or later?? Do you not like me??" Cam was confused, she thought the date had gone really well, but if she was wrong she would rather know now than to spend more time with Fig, only to have her heart broken. "Did I miss read things Fig?? If I did I'm sorry." she said folding her napkin. Cam was ready to go home, she thought she knew now what Fig was saying. Perhaps he meant he wasn't ready to settle down, whereas she was, which was alright, but Camrine wanted kids.

Her confusion alarmed him profoundly! No, no, no! That's what he was trying to say at all! This wasn't how he was wanting it to come out at all, but here Cam thought he didn't like her and was just playing around with her or something! Practically dropping his fork to clatter against the shared plate, he waved his hands through the air as if to clear the confusion away. The fey rose up in his seat to reach across the table to his date. "Cam, Camrine, darling, no!" Gathering up one of her hands in his and reaching his free hand to cup the side of her face to best lock eyes with her. He kissed the hand he had gathered up. "If there is anyone Above or Below that I'd choose to have children with, to go on to marry, it'd be you! I was wanting to do things properly! Marriage is a big, big deal for my people and I want any proposal I make to you to be perfect. I am crazy about you, Cam! I love you!" There was not a thought of the other patrons, the waitstaff. Fig for the life of him was worried that the beautiful woman in front was going to walk from his life forever. "Please don't misunderstand me, Cam." His heart was pounding frantically in his chest, the sudden surge of fear and passion drawing a subtle flush to his face. "I. Love. You. I do."

Cam blinked that was totally not what she expected, she thought he was trying to tell her, that he didn't want anything serious with her at all and she had misread all of the signs. Camrine blushed at his confession, she didn't mind the outburst since that was her fault for misunderstanding what Fig was trying to tell her. Camrine did however, blush at everything else, and said softly "I love you too Fig, I'm sorry I got upset, I thought you were trying to tell me you didn't want anything serious between us.. and that hurt, since I thought things had gone so perfectly tonight." Camrine looked down feeling foolish for misunderstanding what Fig had been trying to tell her, it certainly didn't sound to her like he would propose someday.

It took a few moments for the Fey man to sort of catch his breath after his frantic stream of consciousness. He stood, leaning over the table, holding her hand to his heart. Camrine's words sank in slowly and, when Fig fully processed them, a brilliant smile slowly grew across his face. Oh, no sweeter words have ever been uttered in Above or Below than 'I love you too'. A laugh bubbled up from his chest before he sighed. "Tonight really has been perfect. I'll take the blame for any confusion. I've been so excited about...having found the person that I want to marry and raise a family with, I've been playing everything so close to the chest. I've been planning a whole to-do. I'm going to ask you to marry me in proper Fey fashion. Oh, and I will. I-I want to meet your family and I would love for you to meet mine. I have absolutely thought on what beautiful, wonderful children we could have together, and I adore the thought of welcoming them into the world, of meeting them, watching them grow up and learn, all with you. Whether we decide to marry first, or if we decide on bringing children into the world before then, just know that there is no other person I could see myself doing that with than the gorgeous, talented woman sitting across from me." Pausing a moment to cast a glance around the restaurant, he chuckled with a clearing of his throat. He drew he hand up to place another kiss upon her hand before he sat down again. "Say, Cam, what would think of us getting this boxed up and just heading on back to my place? Since the proverbial vespercat is out of the bag, I'd love to discuss things with you." And he certainly had a fair share of questions! Was there any cultural Imp etiquette he should follow for asking for her hand? Did she think that her family would like him? When was she wanting to have children? What about their living arrangements? While the night was no longer young, Fig felt perked up enough to have at least a few more hours in him before all the rush and adrenaline crashed in his system. Heck, if things ran very late, Cam was more than welcome to crash with him.
