Heh, I know I'm not a drummer, or guard. But I thought mine was funny enough for you guys to maybe let it pass... Our marching band was practicing our routine and I had to walk backwards with the tubanist? (tuba player) walking inbetween me and another clarinetist... he got WAY to close so I tried to move without breaking the picture but my hair got caught in one of his valves somehow! Not a little either like a lock of my hair. He dragged me a couple of feet just because he didn't like me, I guess, and pretended he didn't notice when my boyfriend yelled at the Drum Majors to stop to see if I was ok. I was bleeding a bit from my hair being torn out but my leg hurt worse because I was dragged over a piece of glass! xp Yeah... not a good day.

So, our band does some sort of movement in our shows, and this previous year it was quite funny.
The band would get to a certain set, and they'd set their instruments down and do their movement work. Well, they had this part where they had to throw their knees out to either side into a PliƩ.
At the first rehearsal that this movement was introduced, on of the trombone players ripped his pants. It was a decent sized rip, too. You could see his boxors. It was silly.
At a rehearsal before our homeshow, a bunch of people ripped their uniform pants in the same way. Our boosters weren't too happy about that.
The guard just laughed. Band people can't do movement.

Well...I'm not on the guard (I'm actually on the drumline but nothing interesting has happened to us this year yet and it's my first year) but at a concert last year there was a bit of technical difficulty on the stage. It was at the most intense part of the song; the flags were just finishing gertrudes (sp?) and the rifles were just about to throw triples and the "lead" rifle was going to do six (not sure what that's called). So all the rifles are in the throwing position getting ready for just the right moment in the song. The flags start marching diagonally and they get really close to the rifles in this part. Suddenly, the lights on the stage go out. The music is still playing but you can't see anything and you hear a crash and a scream. One of the flags hit one of the rifles in the jaw and knocked her glasses off. In response, she swung her rifle around and hit the flag girl in the knee causing her to fall over onto the rifle girl. Oh my gosh...the lights finally come back on and the person does the six while the other rifles are doing triples and there are two people on the ground cracking up. F-ing hilarious!
Also, this isn't really an "Oops!" moment but it happened to the drumline last year. The section leader always had his mouth hanging open while playing. they tried everything to get his mouth shut including tightening his hat, putting duct tape over his mouth, giving him something to chew on, and so on. Finally, the drumline would all march with their mouths open so they could have that signature look. It's hard to look fierce with your mouths hanging open but they managed.

well i've had a lot of oops moments in colorguard and winterguard. from colorguard the one i can remember the most was when we had to pass through the clarinets and flutes and they couldn't too much or they would break formation, but while moving through them we had to be doing something with the flag, even though our coach KNEW that we we're going through them at that moment. well let's just say i ended up accidently hitting one of them in the head. luckly it was one of my friends and she forgave me. lol.
an oops moment from winterguard would be setting up one of the props upside down when we were setting up for a performance. and when we we would grab the mat after a performance to take outside to fold i always ended having to walk backwards. let me tell you not fun when your hot, tired from practicing all day outside and then perfoming and having to watch out for those retarted bump things between gym doors. another oops moment from winterguard would be when we we're practicing in our gym on the mat i was joking with one of my friends while waiting to come out from behind the backdrop, well we had to run and when it came time to go out i ran and bumped into the backdrop and it fell and i jumped in shock only to run into someone knocking them over and then i fell ontop of them. i was stunned for a moment before i started to crack up laughing, although my coach didn't find it as amusing as i did. lol.
this isn't an oops moment from performing but on the way home on a bus from a band competion. well the bus i was on wasn't very full so we got to sit on our own if we wanted. well i was really tired and the bus seats aren't very far in front of eachother. so i was leaning my head against the seat in front of me and i was breathing through my mouth, well somehow i accidently licked the seat. i was so out of it i turned to my friend and was like i just licked the seat. she stared at me in shock and then starting laughing. well by the time we got home i was married to that seat and everyone on the bus without realizing it had a part in the wedding. ^^;;;

well, It wasnt really my oops moment....it was one of the "prodigies", Now if you come from a school like mine we have a drum teacher there every single day. Mr.C as he will be called. MNow....Mr.C makes an odd obsession over Marching snares and other equipment his "babies" as he likes to call them....especialliy one of the Marimbas. Now one of the "prodigies" or Mr.C's favorite students one day dropped their marching snare onto the stands causing the snare drum to ROLL DOWN from the top of the bleachers and smack a "gold duster" (I dont know if everyone calls them that) Right in the shine.
We all laughed.....except Mr.C....he almost had a haeart attack.

during summer band, the drumline just finished practicing our cadences. After i put up my tenors i went to the other side of the room to get my sticks. On my way back i accidentally pushed one of our bass's over my case. I dont know how but somehow his leg got caught on something and his leg ended up broken. sweatdrop luckily it was better before our first game *since it was the middle of the summer*

i don't know if this really counts as an opps moment but i thought of it when i read the post about hitting a judge with a flag (gratz!)
freshman year we made a giant circle with most of the band, condensed it to a very tight circle, then moved it to the right very fast. one of the judges didn't know this, and he got caught in the circle condensing and had to run along inside it for about 32 counts xD
orchestra should be added in the poll ;o

Alright here's one, have you ever been to the last football game at a college? If you have not then here's a little tip. Stay well away from trombonists who buy their instrument for twenty-five dollars. They like to disassemble it and throw it around. My friend was trying to catch his trombone and balance it on his chin. Unknown to him was the fact that the little guard on the tip of the slide had fallen off. He had to go in for twelve stitches and wasn't able to play for two weeks.
