"No, no, I'm good. I'm fine---no--" He swatted the man's hand away. "Weird-a** creeper. Don't got no need for yer brother-buggin' antics."

"Poor, poor Otter," he cooed softly as he made with the wiggly fingers some more and then he stopped just as abruptly as he had started, his hand suddenly coming to rest toward his side.
There was a quiet thoughtful look on his face - the kind of look that rarely bode well for anyone.
"...So since I've been a bit absent assisting other outposts and stuff," he began and leveled Otto with a look, "how are you and Maebe doing? You guys still .. I guess dating?"
Look up the word awkward - you'll find Jude's picture in place of the definition, for sure.

Otto suddenly became very uncomfortable. Jude had been gone a long... long... long time. "Um... we ain't datin' anymore. I ******** that one up royal." He cleared his throat, keeping his gaze anywhere but on Jude. Not only had he screwed up a perfectly nice thing with Maebe, he'd also screwed over the heart of Cami. Had it been a normal breakup, perhaps he could tell Jude all about it. But no. Otto had to go and make it complicated by experimenting with a guy while they were both tipsy, causing him to immediately have a total identity crisis, all while he was still dating both Maebe and Cami (at the same time), which was also complicated and absurd. The whole s**t-storm from one year ago played out like a dizzying light show of flashbacks behind his eyes. He'd ******** up big time. And he still wasn't certain if he'd ever truly forgive himself for it. Or ever move past it at all. It stuck to his skin like a bad tattoo, forever reminding him of his faults. Otto coughed again, nervously attempting to change the subject. "Uh.. I-I uh.. got a tattoo? It's on my shoulder.. and back.. and neck.. it's pretty cool." And he'd had it done by the man he'd slept with that nigh--- DAMMIT so much for changing the subject. By now, Otto was both pale as a winter sky and sweating bullets.

Jude stared at Otto yet some more and then reached out and swatted Otto's shoulder. It wasn't a hard swat but it was easily felt. If Otto felt the need to shoulder all the blame with 'I ******** up' it meant he had hurt Maebe. It was too late to really poke and prod about an uncomfortable story, but at least Jude wanted was a bit of retroactive justice, "Idiot, but I'm not gonna pry cause you're my brother and I am trying to learn about you, and I don't wanna scare you away. Taking responsibility for your screw up shows you're a man, plus... I'm pretty sure you've beat yourself up enough over it."
Then of course he was pretty sure everyone else put Otto through the ringer, too.
He just ... let it go and went on to the topic that Otto tried to bring up, "Guess it would be weird to show me? I dunno. You'd have to take off your shirt, people might talk~."

Relief washed over Otto, and he managed a brief half smile. "Yeah, I ain't takin' my shirt off for you. 'Specially not in a room full of people." He leaned back in his chair, downing the last of his coke. "Just imagine it's badass."

"At least tell me what it is or describe it," Jude was going to pry at least about this. It didn't matter. Not even in the long run did it matter. Well, then again it might matter. Jude's morbid thoughts lead to him having to identify his brother's remains.
... Ugh. No. That's enough.
"Is it a dragon on the way to chew the scowl off your face?" He said with a little bit of amusement. It wasn't like Jude had any room to talk.

"Hah. Hah." Otto fake laughed with as little enthusiasm as possible. An easy feat. "Nah, it's like.. some complicated tribal design I got a dude from New Zealand to do." He turned his head enough to at least show what the design looked like creeping up his neck.

Jude only smirked at the unenthused 'laughter' that Otto pulled off.
"That's pretty neat," he said as he leaned a bit to get a better look without invading too much of Otto's personal space as well as his own personal space being invaded. He leaned away again, "My compliments to the artist. I would have thought less of you if it had been a dragon," he teased lightly.
He really wouldn't have. Jude didn't feel the need to pry about the 'dude from New Zealand', such things were pointless, usually. "Got into any new hobbies?"

"You got somethin' against Dragon tatts?" Maybe Jude was a crusader against overdone tattoos. "Hobbies? No, not really. Same old boring s**t I always done." If drumming and skateboarding were in fact boring. "What about you? Does Mr. I'm So Interestin' have any fancy-pants hobbies?"

"Not really. Maybe a little," he flickered between the two forms of acceptance and denial. "I mean dragons are pretty neat on a mythological standard, but as a tat? Boring."
Unless the artist did something really interesting with it.
He shrugged a bit, "About the same as you. Same s**t different day. I read my books, write some poetry. Get in people's way as often as I can. Work. Sometimes I people watch."
And people judge.

"I used to like people watchin' up on the roof." At least on busier days in Deus when there were more hunters. People watching was less interesting when there were no people to watch. "Or more like chic watchin'." Ah yes, the carefree days of checking out girls with Dakota. He missed those days. They were so sweet and simple. So innocent. If only he could turn back time.

"I never really did that. Not specifically," he said simply with a shrug. Chic watching didn't appeal to him, not really.
He supposed with the right people it might be 'entertaining' but it seemed very limiting when there was so many people to judge in general. Might as well cover all the sexes!
Judge everyone, leave no one behind.
"So there's nothin' you ever been interested in tryin' out, huh? I always thought about maybe making a serious go at origami or something."

"What? You too high and mighty on yer throne of purity to enjoy some good ol' fashioned boobie watching?" Otto sassed back at Jude, crossing his arms in ricochet judgement..... Except he'd said his favourite word ever, and immediately started giggling, burying his face in his hands while burning bright red. This didn't stop for at least two minutes. Otto Graves; Literal Ten Year Old.He managed to collect himself enough to continue conversation. "Um.. what, like paper folding? It's fine I guess. All I ever made were those fortune flapper things. I always made mine into a duck, though."

Jude just sorta stared at Otto for a long minute. Mostly because he'd never seen his brother this way, not even once. He always figured his sibling had a pretty permanent scowl on his face no matter what.
He started to regret not recording this moment as soon as it was done. So much potential black mail ...lost. Yeah, this sibling relationship was going to go to healthy places. "I like 'boobies' just fine. I just don't feel the need to check the out."
The young man cleared his throat and nodded, "Yeah. That stuff. I guess it isn't exactly a very active activity, but when you only get limited time off the island ... It isn't like you can pursue a lot of s**t," he said thoughtfully.

Jude said the magic word, and Otto was booked for another minute of stifled laughter behind a hand clamped over his mouth. Boobies. His one weakness. Once again, he caught his breath. Wiping his eyes with his sleeves, he got back to the conversation at hand. "I guess not." He murmured, leaning his chin in one hand and staring off into the crowds. "I think the idea is that we're supposed to use more free time to train or whatever."
