As soon as the jagged edge of Rota's blade cleanly sliced of the head of his foe, the remaining corpse was able to get its meager revenge on him for such transgression. He was fine though, it was nothing he couldn't heal off. Alyx had done a good job of cleaning up the zombies as well, so there was only one left. Apparently he didn't want the kill shot either since he put up his shield. No matter, Rota had this in the bag. He hefted his mighty blade and came diagonally downwards on the last undead. they could move on after this.

It was a relatively minor task to deal with the last zombie. It struck Alyx' shield and grasped the metal, and Alyx held strong. Rota's attack dispatched the creature and spelled an end to this room. They were free to move on to the next chamber and save the Witch. He wondered how true the voice's words were: if the voice was getting stronger for every second that they wasted, then who knew what kind of trouble they'd get into if they hesitated for even a moment. If these were the trash mobs, then the next rooms could spell disaster if he was as clumsy as he had been. Upon entering the next room, they found six more zombies, these all different from the previous zombies. Two had a crunchy-looking sheen to their flesh. Two had thick syrup spilling from its open wounds, and the remaining two had thick, caramel goop dripping from their claws and teeth. Alyx knew better than to try and block everything in the room, so he readied Gloomshard and rushed forward, deciding to focus on the zombies with their dripping claws, since they seemed to be the most unknown variable here.

With the re-death of the final zombie, Rota rushed towards the next room. While the words of the mysterious voice didn't bother him too much, part of him didn't want to find out if their claim that they continuously get stronger was true. Before he could mull over that prospect any more, he was met with more roadblocks. These ones seemed different than the others, and upon further inspection, some of them looked a little rigid. Rota smiled and ran towards one of them, knowing full well that this was the kind of job that Neo Abyssian lived for. He had built up a great deal of stamina, but he wasn't going to be content until he had a bit more.

Alyx' blade bit through his intended target, and he was run into by the pressing crowd of zombies. When one of them struck him, his body began to feel sluggish, and a status effect was applied that seemed to encumber him to some degree. He didn't know for sure which zombie had caused it, but he had his suspicions that it was one of the ones with the dripping claws and fangs. How exactly it was able to accomplish this task was unknown to him, but he was sure it had something to do with this god-forsaken dungeon. What had they gotten themselves into? No time to mourn the loss of their lives: Alyx stormed back into combat, attacking the same zombie he'd been working on before.

Like a stale cracker, the shell of the zombie was crushed beneath the might of Rota's blade. The zombie was rent asunder into a nondescript puddle of goo as he looked towards the other shelled zombie. As he brought his blade towards the foe a thought hit the front of his head. In transit, he had not naturally healed as he did in the other dungeon. Or after any combat for that matter. What this meant to the demon warrior was that this was meant to be practically one continuous combat from entrance to Nemesis. That was really bad in a way. While Rota could naturally heal and his armor was superb, he only healed so much over time and they didn't have any time to waste in here. Thankfully he had stockpiled healing crystals and potions, but those were only so potent. Light wounds at best. He would just have to avoid getting hit as much as possible. There was nothing else for it. Speaking of, his armor was really gunked up. it seemed one of the zombies was particularly sticky and thus made it harder to move. he would remember this insult for later as his blade continued its path towards the enemy it fought best.

Alyx took another substantial hit to his HP, and was brought down to roughly 80% his total health. If this was the second room of this dungeon, he was excited and somewhat frightened to see the rest of this ordeal. Whatever was waiting further into this event had to be interesting, but more than anything it had to be worth it. Who would make them go through all this trouble for anything less than incredible rewards? This dungeon was leagues more advanced than anything they'd encountered elsewhere, and after fighting the Joyful One they'd gotten some pretty fantastic rewards. This dungeon was the last holiday special event quest, so it should be something worth doing. If nothing else, it was a refreshing change from the monotony of slaughtering level one monsters. There were three zombies left, and Alyx turned his attention to the last one that was drooling eau de diabetes, determined to put an end to this.

And the final cruncher was felled by Rota's blade. Now that that was done, he seemed to remember a zombie getting all too feely with him. He did not like unwanted popping of his personal bubble, so it was time to explosively decompress theirs. He turned to the one that was being largely ignored by Alyx and dashed towards it, bringing his blade up from beside his right heel and above his left shoulder when he had gotten in sufficient range. He had had a good track record so far with these zombies. he just needed to continue knocking them down like morbid dominoes until they were done with this dungeon. hopefully it would be shorter than the last one, or else their leader would be nigh unkillable.

Alyx thrust his blade into the chest of the remaining debuff-zed, and Rota carved it into uneven chunks, leaving only two zombies remaining, both of which had disgusting syrup oozing from their broken flesh. Alyx' blade was readied for the strike, and it began to shimmer as he decided to finish this room as quickly as possible. All it should take is a properly aimed double strike and he should be able to take this b*****d down. They'd be able to move forward, and everything would be fine. One step closer to rescuing the Witch and getting out of this event quest. As refreshing as this all was, Alyx was legitimately worried about his life if they stayed in this place for too long.

Rota had repaid the debt with interest to the Zombie. With all the sticky nuisances out of the picture, he could focus his attention on the last two zombies and be done with this room to go onto the next. he would not allow whatever sinister purpose this entity had in store for the witch. He focused on the leftover zombie that was getting ignored by Alyx and slammed his blade down as hard as he could muster. At least he wasn't sticky anymore...

Alyx had killed his zombie, but Rota had murdered the other one with prejudice, as was his wont. They were ready to go into the next room. Alyx began walking toward the exit, checking over his stats. He was still okay on health, but not as okay as Rota. He was down to one more Light Arte, but he was drowning in AP. He could probably wreck this dungeon with Artes from here on in, but he was going to have to be careful about taking more damage before they got deep into the s**t. This dungeon seemed to have a fairly high difficulty at its base, but it could very well have a steep curve, too. If the boss of the floor dungeon was so much stronger than the monsters in the dungeon, then if this dungeon had a boss, it could be a terrifying prospect.

With that last zombie down, Rota turned and moved on. he had to keep up this pace that he had set for himself. When they got to the next room he noticed some weird striped zombies, and some that were uncharacteristically hyperactive. He decided to go after one of the striped ones first, since they were likely less of a threat. Flickers of flame escaped his maw as he hefted his mighty blade and brought it down upon the zombie standing in his way. They were only three rooms in, this needed to go faster.

Alyx took a little bit of a hit, but he didn't really even flinch from it. One of Rota's targets was destroyed, and Alyx had carved a pretty nasty chunk out of the zombie he'd been targeting, but hadn't put it down for the count. He decided to finish this one off before moving on, though, since it seemed to be twitching and thrashing at a speed Alyx wasn't accustomed to having aimed at himself. Weren't zombies supposed to be slow? This one was moving almost as quickly as Alyx when he gave it his all. And it was decomposing. It should be vibrating itself apart at this rate, but it was striking even more solidly than the zombies from the previous rooms. If the curve remained this steep, Alyx would have to really pull out the stops. He didn't look forward to that as an option, though.

Rota had killed one of the striped ones, and had actually gotten back to a point that he felt at 100% again...and then one of the spazzes hit him two times before he could even think between them. He had no way of knowing if that was just a special attack of theirs, but if he were to hazard a guess he supposed that it was a standard thing that they had a perpetual Double Strike. fun. He continued to focus on the striped ones. If they were going to be gimmickless, he might as well get them out of the way. he turned to the other one and brought his blade down as hard as he could muster, just waiting to get revenge on the spazzes.

Alyx took a glancing blow from the flailing zombie, but shrugged it off his armor in typical fashion. Two zombies down, and only one more to go. There was something cathartic about slaughtering zombies. Alyx wasn't sure what it was, but it was definitely there. He ripped his sword out of the zombie and looked down at his cracked shield. This wasn't working. "Rota! I need a moment." The Gloomking looked around to make sure that there was only one enemy left, and hopped back to give Rota the space he needed to do his work. Alyx flicked his menu open and started flying through his menus. He needed the big guns.
