Terry let himself relax a bit more then since Seung didn't seem very concerned. "If you say so then I'll trust you." He would still make the attempt but at least he wouldn't be as conscious about it now. "Well then just know I don't mind helping if you want. Do you like to cook then?" He asked. He wondered if, since Seung was used to cooking, it meant the other Knight cooked fairly often. It was almost hard to not to get distracted by the delicious smells the cooking meat, along with the other dishes brought out. Ah, so that was what the other had wanted. "Alright, thank you. What is kimchi?" He asked but did try it like Seung asked.

That was one thing he was sure on, they understood this wasn't back home; for those from there. So the manners were understood, or the lack of them, especially from people who weren't Korean. It was acceptable, even in Korea it would be understood though you might still get looks. It was appreciated when one made an effort. He was sure the same applied here though. He was just glad he had good manners, even by American standards he was sure.
"I do, I learned from my mother. She is better cook." He said nodding his head. He had learned in order to help his mother since she worked, as did his father, and he had a little sister. It eased things for her and allowed him to learn something he would need. As he'd realized he wasn't much into females he knew he'd never get married, he couldn't marry someone just because he should. So he'd need to cook and handle himself.
"Pickled spicy cabbage." And it was a yummy food, especially if it wasn't pickled for long, so it didn't take on too much of a pickled flavoring - like this kimchi. This kimchi hadn't pickled long, it was good and it had a nice spice to it. Pointing, with is chop sticks, to something else. "Radish kimchi." And he started pointing to side dishes and naming them, some he couldn't name, but others he could.
Turning the meat with tongs he finally pulled out the scissors and started to cut it into pieces so it would cook better, faster.

Terry nodded back. "A good way to learn, get the experience while also spending time with family." He had learned the basics the same way himself, though for him it was mostly helping with baking. The best way to bribe a child helper was always something that involved food, like licking the spoon after making frosting. At least in his personal experience. "Have any favorite dishes to cook?" He blinked in surprise at what kimchi was then gave a thoughtful nod. "It was good." He looked when Seung pointed out some of the side dishes and gave their names, making sure to remember them. "Is kimchi a popular way to cook things?" The addition to scissors was different but made sense in a way so he didn't mention it.

He hadn't been the sort to spoon lick, he'd been the one to help and glow under the praise from his mother for helping her, for making something right. He had also been proud to tell her what he'd made while she was out at work. He'd been happy to do things for himself, and as he'd grown up he'd become more mature and wanted to do more for himself, his mother had appreciated it as it made things easier for her.
"Kimchi is not way to cook, it is the name of the dish. Pickling...is more common than here - I think." He said with the tips of his chop sticks resting on his bottom lip thoughtfully. He really wasn't sure, he didn't know much of American food. There were places to have American food in Korea, mostly in Itaewon, and he hadn't ever really gone to those places. Itaewon was a place he'd gone to but for other reasons, not the food.
Putting down his chop sticks, in order to flip the small pieces of meat he's created, he grabbed up his chop sticks again and went for a leaf of some sort. Holding it in his free hand he filled it with kimchi and a few other vegetables before wrapping it up and eating it whole. It explained why they had a plate filled with just leaves - wraps. He'd even put a small bit of his rice into the leaf.
Making another such wrap, though with a small piece of beef he deemed cooked enough, he wrapped it up and held it up for the other to try.

"Oh I see. You are probably thinking right as pickling isn't quite prevalent, though maybe it is a bit more in the south, I'm not sure." Of course that's not counting farmers who pickle and can their own food, but then Terry hadn't paid all that much attention to that sort of stuff. He watched as the other made his wrap then looked at the different side dishes and the meat and got a small smile. If that was what it was for then he might have to try a good amount of different combination wraps just so see how things taste together. He looked back to Seung when he offered a wrap and he gave him a slightly bigger smile. "Thank you." He said then took it and tried it. "It's very delicious."

Nodding his head he went for just some kimchi and rice, for himself. It was for wraps, as seen, or just eating with rice or on it's own. it was mostly up to the eater how they wanted to enjoy the side dishes. But the side dishes were good, always were.
"It's all good." As meat was turned, some finished, he started putting it on his plate and on the others plate as well. "Eat, enjoy." With rice, veggies, other dishes or on it's on. It was to be enjoyed. Reaching for the venting system he lifted it up as it wasn't needed as much now. he was glad to see the other enjoying the food so far and accepting trying new things, sometimes that could be hard. He was still limited in what he'd tried that was American, though he did like potatoes a lot.
Beef went to Terry's plate while the pork went to his own, keeping to the orders. Though the next leaf he filled, and offered the other, had a bit of both in it along with veggies. Right after that he did set up to make tea and pour a small shot glass of soju for them both. Normally the soju, and usual toast, would be first and shared but he wasn't keeping to normal things, not entirely anyway. Soju poured he offered the other one of the shot glasses, even as he set tea down for them both as well.

After Seung dished out the food Terry gave another smile and a nod. "I shall, thank you." he said and started to make a few different combination wraps after trying some of the side dishes on their own to see if he liked the taste. So far he hadn't found anything he couldn't stand and if there were anything he wasn't fond of, it was better when put in a wrap. When Seung offered up another wrap, this time with both meats, Terry responded by offering up some of his beef for the other to enjoy as well. Then he took the shot glass offered and slightly raised it to Seung. "To good food and great company." he said with a smile. "Thanks again for inviting me."

Taking the offered beef, thanking the other for it, he raised his own glass to meet Terry's. "Gonbae." Making sure, not that the other would know, to keep his own shot glass equal to the others. Downing his drink in one shot, as soju should be, he set the empty glass on the table then.
Returning the favor, of the other giving him some of the beef, he started putting some of his pork onto the others plate as well.
"I am glad you came. I did not think you would." He said while taking a sip from his own tea. His dark eyes wandering over the gathered people eating at various tables. He had noticed a few looking over from time to time, was something bothering them? Or what was the reason? he figured they weren't used to something going on at his table or perhaps they just were bored and needed something to look at. Either way it didn't bother him. he did notice a small group of American's coming in and going to a table, in the slippers, to sit down and eat. The group was fairly large as well, ten people he counted, his dark eyes than drifted back to his own food and company.

Terry downed his own shot and set the glass down close to Seung's glass. He decided that he actually preferred the soju over beer for overall taste, going down and after taste. He thanked the other man for the pork and added it to some of his combination wraps. "I'm glad I came as well. Why did you think I wouldn't come?" He asked. "I did say last time I didn't mind providing company." Though he supposed it could have been taken that his words had meant just company over the phone but that wasn't all he meant when he had said it the other day. He took a sip of his tea after checking it's temperature.

"Very sudden, we just met." And he knew things weren't the same here, and he wasn't sure how friendships and spending time out with friends worked here. He was still learning, and rather clueless. He wasn't sure if it would seem too far for new friends or how it would be seen by the other.
Filling the shot glasses again, not that they had to drink them now, it was simply polite and proper that glasses not remain empty for long. So with them full and the food coming off the grill till it was empty he was happy to offer the other food. Offering bites of various things, while eating himself. This was the first time since moving here that he'd shared a meal with a friend, he had sat down to meals with family, but this was the first time with a friend and he was enjoying it.
The smells of their food, and other peoples, filled the restaurant and the company really had Seung feeling relaxed and comfortable. He had someone here, a friend, and he didn't feel as alone. He had someone he could talk to and they knew about this war also. They could share experiences and he could learn more from Terry, he could learn what was normal here, and feel a little less separate from people here.
"Will be on vacation, back home, next month." He said after some time, deciding it was best to let the other know not to mention it was polite to do so. "New Years." Though it was past the first of the year. New years was not the same for people in Asia and he knew that was known, though most likely didn't know the dates or why the date changed. He was even more sure most didn't know what different cultures did during the lunar new year.

Terry gave a hum in understanding and a nod. "True, but then again we wouldn't be able to get to know one another unless we met." Of course calling and texting also leads to getting to know one another but at the same time it was always different when you were face to face. One can present themselves differently when not in person after all. He gave a smile in thanks for the refill but took a sip of his tea instead, deciding to get more food into his stomach first before drinking more. While he was eating at a pace where the meat wouldn't grow to cold, he wasn't eating very fast either. He wasn't in any hurry after all as he had good food, good company, and a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy. It wasn't often that he got to spend time with friends since he only had a handful of them and they tend to also be busy with school and this war. "Oh? I'm glad you get to visit home then. Do you have some family you are going to celebrate it with there?" He asked. He could recall that New Years was celebrated at different times in some cultures, though the main reason he knew that was because the calender's like to put the date for the Chinese New Years at times. He then paused and gave a half smile and a chuckle. "Also, I feel like I'm asking all of the questions and you're spending a lot of time having to answer them, if that is getting or gets annoying, feel free to say so and feel free to ask any questions yourself if you have any."

That, of course, made sense to the pierced male who nodded his head to others words. he didn't understand them all but the gist of it he did understand.
"All family are there but mom, dad, sister, and cousin. They live here. Going to see all family." He said in answer to the others question. He was set to go, some gifts even bought already while others were planned out. He was hoping that this war didn't somehow stop him from going, how would he explain it to his family after all? it was something he had no plans to ever let his family know, another secret for him to keep and this one would be kept from his little sister and cousin.
Laughing he waved a hand. "It's fine, it is ok. You have questions - ask them." He was more than willing to answer, though he might lie if need be or he wanted to for the sake of keeping some things private. But he could be an honest person, when he wanted to. But most of this was basic wanting to learn and understand things, and he was fine with that.

"Should be a nice visit then?" Terry said, though it ended up more of a question in tone since he wasn't sure of Seung's relationship with his family. He didn't plan on asking beyond what could be taken from what he just said/asked, just in case it was too early to ask that type of personal questions. He got a small smile when Seung laughed when gave a shrug. "If you are sure. You might regret that later when you end up having to answer a lot of questions." He said, half serious and half joking.

"Yes, it will be very nice." He and his family, those still living back home, got on well. He didn't see them often, especially now, but often enough and they had always kept in contact. Now, with so much distance between them, keeping in contact over the computer was an even bigger thing as was this years Lunar New Year. A time to reconnect and honor the dead, especially his cousins recently departed parents, which aunt and uncle.
"That is fine. I will do my best." He answered, and he meant it. He would do his best to answer things, if he understood them and if they weren't too prying. So far it hadn't gone badly. As they'd been talking he'd finished his tea and had eaten a good amount of his meal, finishing his rice, he glanced over to see how the other was doing on eating and if he was enjoying his meal.

"Good." Terry said with a smile. It was always nice to see family you hadn't seen for a while and he was glad Seung would get the chance and seemingly have a good visit from what he understood. "I might hold you to that then." He said with a chuckle. Like Seung, he had eaten a good portion of his food, he had also finished off both his meat and his tea. "I forgot to ask earlier but how do you like America so far?"
