Her sudden departure only cemented in his mind that she had one. She wasn't safe to be around. Not now, and definitely not in the future. He'd just have to avoid her at all costs. He looked back to Delilah, who was still holding the sleeping boy. "I'm not either." He admitted after a moment, then... considered relaxing a little. The threat was gone - for now - although... judging from the way Rhun's voice softened when he mentioned her name, he was probably going to be in trouble for scaring her off.

Oh no.

You ******** up again!
How many times is this, hm~?
You've just arrived and already you're destroying everything.
It's only a matter of time before he tells you to get out.

He reached up to rub at his head, panic setting in for real now. What should he do? Go after her? What if she DID have a Malice and it was a strong one? Was he capable of defending himself? Delilah was asking him a question - he shot a look in her direction, trying to focus on it...

Is he still around, in your head?

"No." He answered quietly, then shook his head, "Yes. Sort of. Not really. I can hear him but he's not here. She was different - her eyes - they changed." He probably wasn't making any sense, but he couldn't explain himself any better than that. "It's not safe."

She studied Deskri's motions carefully, reading his emotions. Kagyaku was gone, but not fully. "I-it's okay..... I-.... I understand..." she paused. "...i-..i had o-one..." she divulged. "....i-it was a m-mane... s-she gone n-now... b-but her v-voice.... it's still t-there..." she explained to him. She pondered about Melody's eyes being different. "r-rhun... he s-said they c-came from a f-facility that s-studied the s-spirits... but h-he said... s-she didn't have o-one..." she seemed confused. She hadn't talked too much to Rhun about the kids. All she knew is what Rhun told her, "s-she's.... a-alice's c-child?" she relayed.

He chewed at his lip worriedly -- though... started to feel a bit relieved when she mentioned that her own Mane was gone, but she could still hear her voice. That meant he wasn't entirely insane... right? There was still some small fragment of hope for his sanity? He wasn't sure he wanted to get all that attached to the idea of it. Chances are it was false, anyway.

"He... he mentioned that..... I think he's wrong." He shook his head. The girl had definitely changed. She resembled him too much - but then looked far too much like Alice... "She changed. I know she did." He rubbed at his eyes, they weren't so bad as to miss something like that...

"Is... is it fine... that she's alone." He turned to peer out of the doorway, into the rest of the cabin. He didn't want Rhun to be angry with him over this - he couldn't handle any more outbursts today. "I don't-- he'll be angry -- but it's not safe." He looked back to Delilah, clearly torn on what to do.

He's wrong. Delilah was apprehensive about this delicate conversation, she was still unsure of what Deskri knew. "...if n-not Alice.... t-then who?" she asked, watching pretty intently for any signs that would tip her off. She had her suspicions about the child only in that Alice was with Syth, and there was no way Alice had been with anyone else, or was she? And if Melody was not Alice's child, then who's? And why would Rhun lie? Why would Rasiel lie? Unless...

Her mind was piecing her own story together. Delilah didn't deny that it was possible that Melody had a spirit. "....it's p-possible.."

"I.... I don't k-know...." she answered. She thought about it, this part of the area was secluded, and even if she ran out of the house into the grounds, the grounds were fairly large but enclosed. She couldn't really go that far. Delilah dreaded the idea of going after Melody since she didn't want to be around more people, only less. She sighed. "...a-angry?..." she inquired but moved on from it quickly. "i-its... kind of.. s-safe..." she tried to reason with the idea, even though she was reluctant continue to push herself not to go.

"I-- I don't know." He lied, easily enough. He'd had to learn how to be a good one in the last two decades - in a lot of situations it was lie or die. He eyed the doorway again, still slowly coming down from his panic high. "He likes her. If she gets hurt, he'll be angry." The logic seemed clear enough to him, so why did it seem like Delilah was having trouble with it?

If only he could talk to her about it. About what he knew. What he suspected. "The Malice. If she has a Malice. It's not safe." He shook his head, sighing as he rubbed at his face.

Get it together.
You're pathetic.
She's a child and you're scared shitless.

"...maybe we should call." He pulled the phone out of his pocket, and eyed it for a moment... If he called and told him what was going on... would it make things worse?

PostPosted: Sat Jan 09, 2016 10:06 pm

Delilah was having a hard time deciding what to do. Maybe she had gotten in too deep with this. Rhun entrusted her with this, and she'd already messed it up.

You should have just stayed hidden.

She sighed. Maybe they should look for her. "... n-need to... f-find her... b-before Rhun.."

He was right, if she did have a malice, that would be dangerous. She could hurt others or even herself.

"....a-are you o-okay... to go?... or s-stay?.." she asked, she could tell he was scared of the small girl, so she gave him the option to stay in the cabin if he didn't feel comfortable going.

He rubbed at his head a little more, still chewing at his lip as he considered... "I... I can go." He nodded finally, and then.. looked around the room for his shoes... where were they again? "I... shoes." He shuffled around, not finding them immediately, so he ended up wandering back out to the entrance, nervously poking his way down the hall to the front door. Ah, there they were. Barely holding together but still better than nothing. He carefully pulled them on, and then placed a hand on the door - but paused.

"Are.. you leaving that one here...?" He hadn't thought about what to do with Lucian's child... The boy seemed too aggressive to bring along but leaving him alone would probably be... not good.

"....I...i'll leave... him h-here..." she decided as she set Leukos on the bed. She reached into her bag and pulled out another cellphone and texted Rhun. "...i w-won't... say m-melody's... missing... just l-leukos... t-tired..." she was straining to get her words to cooperate. After Deskri put his shoes on, she moved outside, looking around to see if she could see anything.

Just let her go.

"I w-wonder... w-where.." she looked to see if she could make out anything to give them a clue as to which way Melody went. She was not around there and looked like she wasn't even in that area. They'd have to go out and search the grounds for her. Delilah moved forward, past the trees that hid the cabin. She looked back to see how Deskri was holding up.

Leave the boy here... would that be safe? Wouldn't he get into trouble? He tried to remember what he'd been told about toddlers... never leave them alone - right? They'll get themselves hurt. Or killed. Or something. This was a mess and he was terribly under prepared for it. He didn't even like children. "Alright..." Still, she was the one in charge of them, not him. So he wasn't going to push it.

He followed her outside, nervously looking around for any signs of the child... Two eyes were good, but several were even better. It had been a long time since he tried to tap into so many shadows - he wasn't even sure if he remembered how. "I can... ....try to see." He sighed, then hid his face in his hands as he tried to concentrate... displace his mind into the nearest pools of darkness - now blink.

It was overwhelming at first - to see so many things at once. He gasped quietly, and nearly lost the connection - but held onto it as tightly as possible until he could really examine what he was seeing... Melody, Melody... where was Melody..?

PostPosted: Sun Jan 10, 2016 12:03 pm

Melody had bolted out of the house, not stopping for a second to think on her own. Her body seemed to move on its own as she cried, scared and confused. The panic only increasing as the full weight of being alone was setting in. She had never been away from Leukos, not this long, not this far. How long had she been running? Her legs were starting to give out on her frail body as she stumbled but kept running. She hadn't been paying attention to where she was going as she faltered, tripped then hit the ground. A strong pluck of the harp escaped her mouth as though she had cried out instinctively.

Everything became still as she laid there for a few moments. She mustered her strength to push herself up off the ground and folded into herself, curling into a ball, sobbing at the pain her scraped knees were emitting. Melody lifted her eyes a bit to see where she was. It looked like she had been running along the edge of lake when she had fallen. Her big eyes took the scene in slowly, something tugging at her mind. 'Where am I?' she thought as she couldn't even look away from the lake to see where it was located within the grounds. A sharp pain overtook her mind as she grabbed her head. '..where is she?' Melody's eyes widened, she had heard this voice before, it had whispered to her before but never stayed, but this time it was much louder, as though it was standing right next to her. No, cemented within her. "..wh-who are you?.." she spoke aloud in her fragile voice. 'Where is she?' "Where is who?" She didn't understand the question. She barely knew anyone here. Melody was shaking, was this those things the researchers talked about so much. Did she have one? Was she.. infected? More tears began to well up.

Melody's expression changed, calmed as she began to shush herself.
Shhhhhhhhh.... Her eyes were changing again, her blue eye bleeding into a deep purple hue as her face softened. Looking out over the lake, she sighed with calming. "...syth..." she whispered under her breath. Her eyes were craving something, saddened and finally realizing the gravity of the predicament she was in. "...who was that... again?..." she looked as thought she was thinking, trying to grasp at memories just out of her reach. She pulled her legs up tighter as she sat on the bank of lake under the shadow of a tree. She desperately wanted to sink into the shadows and just be unseen but was unable to. At this point, they were both confused. One of them scared and the other mournful. Or was it both? It was hard to tell."...how could this happen..."

He needed to look farther... Find more spaces to invade. He managed to take a few steps forward, careful not to trip himself as he moved. Where was she...where was she...

There.
How ironic.
Of course she would be there.

He stopped moving, focusing his attention on the large shadow cast by the tree... Yes, that was her. And in the distance was the lake, the very same lake that had been the back drop for so many terrible things... The first time Kagyaku and Obscurite had conferred with one another - made a deal - what was it again? Ah... Kill Alice. Kill Andy. One of those people was dead... he didn't know about the other....

He pulled his vision out of the shadows and blinked, having trouble bringing his mind back together for a few moments. "I found her." He looked to Delilah, and then started off towards the lake. Carefully. Quietly. He didn't want to make her run off again. It would be too troublesome to wander around the entire grounds to find the kid.

Once the tree was within eyesight, he slowed, not sure if he should approach first or let Delilah... What if she'd been taken over? He was often vulnerable when he was frightened - Kagyaku had used it several times to take control and wreck havoc on those near him...

Delilah followed Deskri as he announced he had found her. That was good. She would not have to explain to Rhun later how she lost the youngest of the two new children here at the academy. She hadn't spent a lot of time outside other than to move from building to building. She didn't think she'd ever come to the lake at all in the 20 years, though it seemed time was kind to the scenery. She focused on the toddler sitting by the lake as they approached. Already getting the vibe that Deskri was apprehensive about dealing with Melody and whatever thing had possessed her, she decided to handle it. Between the two of them, she honestly felt she could handle the situation better if things got out of hand. She slowly approached Melody and calmly came down to one knee beside her.

Melody had been staring out over the lake and hadn't noticed the other two approach. The shadows on the ground were starting to move beneath her, being influenced to do something but it couldn't decide what as they danced up lightly like smoke, pawing lightly at her body. She felt a presence next to her and she jolted slightly, turning her eyes to Delilah, her hands collecting shadows as she went on defensive."What do you want?" she demanded, her voice was obviously not the same frail girl's and her eyes were still red and purple as she glared at Delilah, still confused and unsure what was happening.

Delilah didn't even flinch as Melody moved suddenly. She simply remained calm as she kept her eyes locked with Melody's. With whoever had taken residence in Melody. "I-it's okay... I'm D-delilah..." she tried to make conversation, she was still unsure if this truly was a malice, but she'd cross that bridge when it presented itself, even if it meant her getting hurt. "...wh-what do y-you......r-remember?"

She strained lightly, the shadows still enveloping her hands."I.... I don't know...." she responded, moving a hand to grasp her head. The memories were fleeting, they came and went quickly like the waves of an ocean.

"Wh-what's... your p-purpose..."

"I... I think I'm looking.. for someone."

"wh-what's your n-name.."

"I... I don't know..." she held her head hard. She couldn't remember what name she had been called but she had to be called something. She had to have a name, even if it wasn't what it had been. "Kreimhilde."

They were making progress, they knew a little more about this spirit. So it was definite that this wasn't Melody. But she still couldn't tell if it was a Malice or Mane. There was only one way to find out, the only way she really knew how to anyway. Delilah narrowed her eyes and grabbed Melody's arm forcefully, her hands turning black as it began to spread onto Melody's skin. "..i-i'm sorry.. m-melody.." she whispered.

Her eyes widened as she had been grabbed suddenly. The woman was hurting her, hurting this child. She panicked as she brought forth her hand as shadows jumped forth to lash out at Delilah. "Don't hurt her, Delilah!" she screamed without realizing what she even said. She became to feel tired suddenly her eyes began to fade back into it's normal colors and closed, her body falling limp.

She was lashed out at but Delilah still didn't move, a cut on her should appearing from the attack just given to her. She watched the spirit's reaction carefully and then once she confirmed her suspicion, she activated her other power to make her sleep and retracted her first ability which would have infected her with a pretty bad illness. As the small child went limp, she grabbed her, making sure she was okay. Delilah looked back at Deskri, her eyes showing no remorse for what she did, as though this was the proper response to such a situation. "s-sorry.." she wasn't sorry she did it, only that Deskri had seen her do it, but not really.

Deskri remained behind, watching carefully for any signs of danger. He wasn't sure how much he'd be able to do without hurting or even possibly killing Melody if it turned out she'd been taken over by a Malice, but the more distance there was between them, the better.

"Be careful..." He frowned, allowing his own shadow to rise up a few feet behind him. Melody was clearly a sound-based Meta, but he could see - even sense - the shadows responding to her. Whatever had taken control of her was someone more akin to himself...

Delilah was handling this a lot better than he would have. Actually trying to speak to it instead of... well, he wasn't sure what he would have done, but speaking was not exactly high on his priority list. He narrowed his eyes, listening to the exchange... Something sounded... familiar. Those eyes were too familiar for his taste as well - Delilah had said she was Alice's child, hadn't she..?

Suddenly Delilah was using a power on Melody - whatever it was caused the Malice - or Mane - to cry out and attempt to defend her. That... was more a behavior of a Mane, wasn't it? Admittedly, Deskri wasn't familiar with Manes at all. Most people he'd interacted with had Malices. "What was that." Once again, he neglected to use proper inflection in his question... he didn't particularly care that Delilah had done something like that. As far as he was concerned, it was necessary.

"....Lets just go back." He turned to start making his way back to the cabin, hoping that the boy would still be asleep when they got back.. maybe they could leave. That would be even better...

"..a-an attack... illness.. t-then s-sleep..." she spoke bluntly, then realized what he had meant. "...m-mane.." she responded. She had a lot more experiences with Manes as she had one. Though, Malices weren't entirely unfamiliar territory either since both Rasiel and Deskri had them. "...m-maybe find.. the s-someone... and they'll s-separate..." she explained, her words were getting harder to formulate. If she could use sign language or even write, she could articulate so much better.

She came to a stand, Melody cradled in her arms as she nodded at Deskri. They should go back. She followed suit to the cabin. As they entered the cabin, it was quiet, a good sign. She moved to the bedroom and picked up the other sleeping toddler. ".. s-sorry.." she said, hoping he'd understand she was apologizing for everything that had happened.

"...q-questions?.." she asked as she looked down at Melody. With her eyes closed she looked increasingly like someone else's child though it was hard to be certain, the only thing tipping off suspicion being her small birthmark on the side of her face. It wasn't uncommon to have markings, however, so it was hard to decide the conclusion to the matter.

"..s-sometimes... i wonder.. w-where rasiel w-went.." she spoke, moving her eyes to Deskri, inspecting him, dissecting whatever his answer would be, she wanted to know what he knew, and the only way she could tell is if she stirred the pot and little and see what surfaced.

He eyed her for a moment, then nodded. He didn't like either variety of extra souls, but he supposed a Mane was better than a Malice. "It's fine. I don't care." Harsh, but the truth. He didn't really feel a need to censor that when it came to these things. He continued on back the way they'd come, eager to get indoors again. Once in the cabin, he slid his shoes off, then followed Delilah back to the room where Leukos was still sleeping.

He quirked a brow, looking from Melody to Delilah... It took him a moment to figure out what she was getting at, but when he did, he bit his lip and shrugged a little. Should he voice this question of his?

He never said he hadn't been with anyone.
Of course he'd move on.
He l e f t you.

He rubbed at his head, as if it would silence the voice telling him to continue questioning the true lineage Melody had... though Delilah's pondering brought him out of it. where Rasiel went... He blinked, trying not to look too drawn in by that question. ".........Ah." He chewed at his lip a little more. Rhun said they didn't know. But.. Delilah knew them both when she was a child. And she was a fairly intelligent child... judging by her question and that pondering -- she'd probably figured it out.

If she hasn't and you give it away he'll cast you out~
you already ******** up his cover~

"I... wouldn't know... He had a bad habit of--" abandoning me-- He brushed the thought aside.. "not telling me when he was leaving..... or when he was coming back... ...or anything, really." His expression fell as a frown overtook his face.

He'll do it again.
All those promises he made,
the sweet nothings he said,
all of them were lies.

"But-- but if he came back.. I'd be happy..."
