The general might have been humming as pain contoured the pale haired girl's lovely features. She did well though, so well. Not a single peep, and Xenotime knew from experience just how painful the process could be. It had been years, but you never truly forget, not that, and certainly not when reminders came in the form of more intense pain upon promotion. Still, it really was all worth it in the end. What was a little pain, when ti came with so very much power? Her hand loosened and withdrew with the civilian had gone and a new, fresh faced lieutenant standing before her. Xenotime put her hands on the woman's arms to steadier, holding her easily, in case her legs decided to fail her. "Beautiful." It was murmured in praise, pride heavy on the general's tongue as she looked her newest agent over, from crimson boots, on up to the braid on her hat. She was a soldier. "From this night no, you're lieutenant Marcasite, of the Negaverse. You serve Metallia, and through my guidance you will do great things." One small hand lifted from the new agent's arm, rising to cup a pale cheek almost tenderly. "And I will continue to protect and watch over you." Seal it. Hook them in. Make them mine. She would keep this one close, like Umber, and Marcasite would make her just as proud. No more disappointments. She would build Metallia a perfect army. "How do you feel, my dear?"

It was exhausting-- Jade was exhausted by the end of it and her knees trembled from the weight of it. It was a strange feeling, the power that pulsed quietly in her. She felt wholly the same but very different at the same time, it was a complex knowledge she wasn't sure how to comprehend yet.
Instinctively, the woman leaned into the hand on her cheek, a slight smile on her lips. "Marcasite," she confirmed, eyes bright and full of wonder. "Negaverse is...?" She trailed off, trying to follow the unfamiliar names when she realized that she didn't know her savior's name. "I'm sorry, I didn't get your name." She swallowed more thickly than she intended.
She probably needed to know names if she was going to be able to turn to them. "So-- do you have more than one name that you go by now? Am I only supposed to go by Marcasite when I am...like this?"

Xenotime's smile softened just a touch as Marcasite turned to press her cheek into her palm, and the general's thumb moved, stroking along pale skin. "The Negaverse is what we are, who we are, and Metallia is where our power derives from. She is our highest sovereign, and it is by her benevolence that we are born again into who we are all meant to be. She is the protector of earth, and we are her army." It was a lot to take in, she knew that, and it would take time, but they had plenty of that. Xenotime had no intention of leaving her new pretty little bird to her own devices. She would be there to guide and to train. "I'm general Xenotime, your direct superior." Another stoke of her thumb along Marcasite's cheek. The smile grew as the question. "Yes. You want to protect your civilian identity. If our enemies were to discover who you are, then not only would you be in danger, but so would anyone connected to you. It's important you don't let them find out who you are." That soft touch at her face drifted downwards towards the point of the girls' chin, then dropped away entirely. "But if find an ally you can trust, then they may know." And here she winked. "You'll know my other name soon, but first..." She replaced her hand on Maracite's arm, and then the both of them disappeared, only to blink back into being on the roof of the apartment building the general ran. "I'm sure you have some manner of residence," she continued, as if they hadn't just traveled many miles in the blink of an eye. "But if you need, this building rent free complex for agents of Chaos." Letting her hands slip away, she started heading for the door, and as she reached out to take the handle she was no longer the commanding general, but the young woman she was in every day life. "You may drop your powers, we don't want to draw attention to this place if we can avoid it."

The level of affection that Xenotime was giving to Jade-Marcasite was strange but welcoming and she hadn't expected to become attached to the woman in the short period of time they'd been around each other, but the bond was there, growing. It was new, shiny, precious and the woman wanted to cradle it very carefully.
"General Xenotime," she repeated carefully, as though it was something to be treasured. "Of course, that makes sense." She didn't have family in DC, with her parents back in Seattle and no siblings to name, so she wasn't worried about compromising them, but she was making new friends.
She wanted those friends safe. She wouldn't dream of compromising them.
The shift, the teleporting startled her and she stumbled when they arrived on top of the building. Her cheeks flushed as she hurried to regain her composure. "Yeah, okay. Uh--" she realized she didn't know how to drop her powers. "How do I do that?"
There was a lot to learn, but she was eager to do so. "And I-- I have a place, but it's mostly a studio for work. I could stay here sometimes, if you wanted."

Porsha paused with her hand on the handle of the door, turning to glance back with brows arched in curiosity. "A flexing of will, my darling. It is how you call your power, and dismiss it." Her smile was gentle, patient. For as violent as the general, or the girl, could be, she was shockingly sweet to those under her care. They were not simply assets, they were her's, her chosen. When they made her proud they were reward, when they were in trouble she would protect them, guide them, teach them. When something bothered them, she did all in her power to help them. When they made mistakes, disobeyed, rebelled...well, she dealt with that as well. The smile lingered on as the matter of residence was returned to. "I always like to keep my dears close. It makes it so much easier to keep track of you." It was practical, as well as selfish. "So yes, I would like that. But it's not just a matter of what I want. It's what you want as well." And here she winked, finally opening the door and leaning against it to hold it open.

Marcasite had been distracted by looking at her uniform, trying to figure out how to make it melt away with the ease that Xenotime had, but she looked up when her general spoke and her jaw dropped when she saw her general's other form.
"P-porsha Webber?!" The name came out in an excited squeal and she quickly clamped her hands over her mouth because she was worried she was too loud but-- it was Porsha Webber, MMA fighter.
That made Xenotime possibly the coolest, and most badass, person she knew and she knew a lot of people. Her cheeks were tinted red, a mix of embarrassment and from the cold, but she looked away and closed her eyes focusing on dismissing her new power.
It took a moment, but she felt it wash away and when her eyes opened-- she was just Jade again.
"I want to," she admitted a little sheepishly before she was beaming at her companion. "I can't stay all the time, but there's no reason that I couldn't be here for most of the week." She was eager to learn and if she was at her own studio then she wouldn't have such free access.

It actually didn't happen all that often, being recognized for what she was, but when it did it still managed to call a warm, delighted smile from the small fighter. She grinned, as color rushed across her new recruit's cheeks, head dipping in a small, almost modest nod. "That's me. Are you a fan?" Of her, or the sport. Outside the circuit, the tours and the fights, you just didn't find as many folks into the whole MMA thing, or at least, she didn't. Granted, she also didn't go looking. It was shocking to some, how very modest Porsha actually lived, considering the money she was bringing in on the monthly. The same apartment, the same simple appliances. She'd upgraded her phone to the latest, but that was about as tech savvy as the young woman got. She didn't even own a computer, and had cable only for Netflix. She had been considering taking out a wall, expanding into the apartment next door that had yet gone claimed. or, more practically, moving up to the top of the building, into the biggest of the apartments. It would make sense, given how often she had people staying at her place, and how little space she had currently. "That can be easily arranged. We can get you set up with an apartment tomorrow. Rent and amenities are taken care of. I, of course, have an open door policy. You're are welcome in my apartment anytime, day and night."

"I-- One of my followers, a few of them actually, were really big on MMA. They made a request that I do a segment on the fights so, I did a lot of research." She explained as she crossed the roof to join Porsha. "You're all over the circuit, it's incredible. So much raw power and talent--" It was incredible, how deadly she could be as an everyday person.
Clearly what she'd seen that night wasn't even close to what Xenotime was capable of.
"I don't-- I don't follow it super closely anymore, I haven't got the time I'd like for it but, the fights I've seen. They're incredible." Jade wasn't a fighter, not really she was better with people than her fists, but she found the skill required to be a good fighter amazing.
"Yeah, that'd be great. I'll just use the other place for my show. Expand the studio out more." Her shows could get more creative, maybe she'd even get to feature Porsha once, her followers would go wild. "Open door policy got it. Should I give you my number or something? Or just expect that you'll find me when you want."

Well that was a little enlightening. Porsha's brows went up, clearly impressed, as she ushered the other woman through the door and into the stairwell that led down into the interior of the apartment complex. "You'll turn a girl's head with talk like that," she'd purr, looking back over her shoulder as she bounced down the stairs on the balls of her feet. Jade didn't know yet what the general was capable of, but she would learn. Xenotime didn't like having to worry too much about her soldiers, she preferred to give them all the skills they needed to look out for themselves. Barring any unforeseen incidents... "Sounds good. If you need any help moving things I'm happy to lend a hand, and I know a few strong boys that would be willing to help as well." Well, willing after Porsha asked them nicely. Down a few flights, and Porsha opened another door, holding it. "I could hunt you down, but it'll be so much easier if we exchange numbers. And I'll need a name for that pretty face of your's." At this she'd grin again, lifting a small hand to tap Jade on the underside of the chin before leading her down the hall.

Jade didn't respond, just beamed happily at her general. It pleased her to know that listening to her followers about something she would've never looked at on her own paid off. Besides, it was Porsha Webber who could easily be the next Ronda Rousey if she wanted. How could she not be excited about it? "Uh, maybe not moving anything but, probably when I get furniture for the place?" If she was going to travel between the two apartments, she wanted a bed and some necessities in both. Her earnings as a popular YouTuber paid well enough she could afford it without too much trouble, especially if she didn't have to pay rent at the complex.
Jade followed eagerly, excitement bubbling within her as she bounded down the stairs and slid through the open door. "Right! Jade. Jade Argent, a real pleasure," she introduce herself, complete with a little bow of respect.
It was easy to follow Porsha, Jade appreciated a person who was outgoing and wasn't afraid to take charge.

Porsha was drawing a key from her front pocket as she led the way down the short hall to her apartment door. There she'd pause, sliding the key into the lock before glancing up. "It's a pleasure to meet you Jade." A little premature, perhaps, but the fighter had a feeling this relationship was going to work out just fine. Especially if that little bow was anything to go by. Po grinned as she turned the knob and pushed the door open, leaning against this one as well to allow Jade to enter before her. The apartment was modest. A kitchenette with a small island and a small high top table opposite the door, against a window. Beyond that was the living room. Neat and tidy, there was a coffee table with a violin case resting on it, a futon with a stack of folded blankets and a pillow on one side, a small shelf against the wall. Opposite to the futon there was a large tv. That was had an opening that lead into a small hall with a single door to the right sporting a bathroom with bath and shower combination. At the end of the hall was Porsha's bedroom. Considering how often Porsha had people sleeping in her place (at least one roommate at any given time, and very recently a second) it would be better to upgrade. The thought had crossed her mind a few times now. "Home sweet home." Closing the door behind Jade, the fighter slipped down the hall to peek into her room, them reemerged a second later. "Slate doesn't seem to be in at the moment, he's my roommate, as well as corrupt under my care. You'll meet him soon, I'm sure. As well as his brother, General Umber." The name was said with a notable sense of pride. "My neighbors are also under my care. Another corrupt, and a lieutenant like yourself."

"The pleasure is all mine," she chirped happily, slipping into the apartment without hesitation. If she were younger, all of this would be triggering warning bells in her head but as it stood, Jade was curious and eager to take a chance.
She took in the apartment a little bit at a time, in sections, lingering on the violin case. "Do you play?" Her head cocked back at her companion as she stepped forward, hand drifting across the kitchen's counter. When Porsha disappeared into her room, Jade spent her time looking over the rest of the apartment.
"I'm sure they'll be lovely to meet." And even if they weren't, she was confident she could interact with them just fine. "If you have a roommate, why are you in a single?" An innocent question. Jade didn't want to assume anything, because Porsha's business was her own, but she couldn't help but think the whole arrangement might be more comfortable with an extra room or two.
"I mean, a bigger apartment means you can have bigger sleepovers if you wanted to get everyone together."

Porsha glanced at the violin case, then back up to Jade before giving a very small shake of her head. "Slate plays, he's been trying to teach me, but I'm not that good yet." Lessons had slowed a bit since she'd allowed herself off bed rest. Po had spent an abundance of time at the gym directly after, regaining what strength she may have lost while she'd been injured. Jade's question was a reasonable one, and another signal that she really needed to start looking into moving into the larger suite on the 8th floor. Or, more precisely, taking the steps to just do it. She already owned the place, it was just a matter of doing it. Porsha smiled. "Because It's never been a pressing need. Generally, whomever ends up staying with me is fine with sharing a bed, so there hasn't been a problem." Even with both Slate and Shale had both been living in her small apartment with her, the younger brother hadn't complained about the close quarters. A soft meow drew the fighter's attention towards the hall again, and with an affectionate coo she stooped to scoop the one-eyed cat off the floor and into her arms. "I forgot to mention this sweet bundle of love." A few scratches under the chin had the cat purring madly. "This is Lenore."

"I've always preferred the cello, but the violin is nice too," she commented thoughtfully. "I'm sure you'll be great with the right amount of practice." The pale haired woman didn't play an instrument herself, outside of knowing a few guitar chords but she always enjoyed listening to others that did. Especially string instruments, they were her weakness.
Porsha's answer about her apartment was simple and had Jade shrugging in acceptance. If her general was comfortable in her living situation, who was she to question it? She did make note to keep in mind that the roommate was probably sharing a bed for now so there would be no unexpected drop-ins without first knocking upon the bedroom door.
That would be a horribly embarrassing event for all parties involved.
"Oh," she murmured breathlessly when she saw the cat in Po's arms. "Oh she's precious," she cooed, crossing the space to get a better look at Lenore. Jade had a soft spot for animals, especially one-eyed cats. "Can I--?"
She wanted to run her hands along it's fur but didn't know if Lenore was the type of cat who wanted particular attention.

Horribly embarrassing, or an unexpected opportunity. Depending. Lenore was all purrs in Porsha's arms, nuzzling her head up under the fighter's chin and paws kneading into her arm. She was an affectionate cat, vocal and loving, and as Jade approached she did that sweet little kitty coo that some did when someone was reaching out to pet them. "Oh, sure. Knock yourself out. Lenore loves everyone." Porsha had yet to meet a person the cat hadn't taken a liking to right off the bat. So either the fighter surrounded herself with good people(which, so far, seemed pretty likely), or the cat was just overly friendly. Either way, she was sniffing at Jade's fingers, small pink tongue poking out for a small lick. "You can hold her if you want." And she'd offer the cat over, depositing her into Jade's arms before heading for the refrigerator. "Are you thirsty, hungry?"
