Talisia's gaze slowly went to Callum's sword before her own hand rested against her belt. Her fingers trailed over the soft leather of her whip before she glanced back up at her companion, "Not so much just yet. I've only had brief encounters..." Her cheeks warmed, "I'm hoping though to make a new friend or two here." At this rate she would need a huge caravan for all of the beasts she was slowly acquiring. So far a kinfa and raptrix weren't that big of a hassle...at least while Yukiyo was just a baby still.

"I'm sure they wouldn't maul you too badly." Teased Talisia quietly, but her gaze shone with interest. These Janarim sounded interesting indeed! Though she had Silva already, from the rare few times that he had allowed her to ride on his back. A raptrix wasn't meant to be a completely tame beast after all. They had too much wild spirit inside for that, "But I guess coming from a Beast Charmer that's not too valid is it?" She grinned, "After all I'm supposed to not be intimidated by many beasts."

Talisia slowly reached out to touch a mug. So this was a pint? She blinked at the vastness of it in her slender hands, "Ah-" She found her question caught off as she watched Callum knock it back. Surely if he could do that then it must be alright...Raising the mug to her lips the girl took a tentative sip before making a face and placing it right back on the table. Okay, so that may take a bit to get used to.

"I'll say you won't have much trouble here." He held his mug in his hands, moving it just enough to swirl the contents within. "I'm sure they would treat you with dignity and kindness, but me...? I'm comfortable with Faulina." It was only at that moment that he realized he had left her out in the Oban air alone. She was larger now; not quite a hatchling, but still too small to handle most beasts on her own. Stay safe out there, baby girl.

Out of his peripheral he saw Talisia pick up her brew, and he turned to give her his full attention. After the way she had ordered he assumed she'd taken a few hits before, but that face...Callum couldn't help, but to laugh! "Do you know just how adorable you are? Please, don't take that as an insult, it's a high compliment, I assure you." He pinched off a bit of his bread and handed it over to her. "Try this. Eating bread will help keep you sober, and the sweetness helps take the edge off."

"Faulina is plenty enough I would say then." Teased Talisia lightly before frowning faintly, "How is she?" It made her think of her own Yukiyo, but Faulina was older than her baby and surely was growing by now. She wondered how the two kinfa would react towards each other. Bitter jealousy between girls or something cute? A glimmer of amusement lit up her gaze before she looked back towards the table and the pint.

As Callum laughed her face warmed into an incredible violet blush, "I uh..." Talisia bit her lip sheepishly before looking away, "I guess I should have asked before I ordered." How was she supposed to know? So many were tossing these things back and she had just thought it would be like a sweet wine. How wrong she had been! Truly it brought a small laugh to her own lips to just imagine how she must have looked to Callum, "I guess I'll believe in your assurance." She replied quietly before slowly taking a apiece of the bread, "I suppose I can try again, but really...why do others like these drinks?" She murmured around the mouthful of bread. At least this was sweet as promised, "I think some wet sand may go down smoother than this." She gazed at the drink before tentatively raising it to her face and smelling it.

"She's growing larger with each passing day. It's getting harder to carry her now." At one point she had been small enough to tote around in an infant's sling, and now...now she was out there sailing the skies. It made him smile a little, much like a parent who was both proud and a little saddened by their childs growth.

Feeling a little sheepish himself for making her embarrassed, Callum quickly tried to bring a smile back to her face. "In some places its safer than the water. Cheaper too. It fills you up, and can numb pain, if only for a while." His hoary eyes looked down into the liquid of his own cup before finishing off his first pint.

"Ya got a problem with the mead, halfbreed?"

Callum looked up to see a rather large, rather pissed Oban standing at the foot of their table. A few others were rising from a table near the door, and it was then that he realized this man had been sitting there just a few seconds before.

The proprietor came out from the back, arms on her hips. "Rystas, what have I told you 'bout-"

"Shut up, woman! Can't ya see were just having a friendly little chat here?"

"You'll just have to let her drape around you like a cape then." Teased Talisia quietly as she tried to shake off the rest of her embarrassment, "I suppose that makes sense then. Must be an acquired taste...." She trailed off shyly, "Unless you know everyone else just loves it going down on that first go." She could only watch in amazement as he finished off the first pint. Here she had two full ones with barely a sip touched. I wonder if Callum would be extra thirsty? Still she had to try to match him a bit, right? That decided Talisia raised the pint to her mouth and downed the glass. Of course afterwards she realized it probably wasn't the best decision and her throat felt like it was on fire...but she had managed it.

Talk about a spiraling world and a weird sensation. Talisia rubbed her forehead against the sudden pounding. Ouch. She peeked up towards Callum before the shadow crossed their table. Frowning she glanced towards the men through her headache.

"Define friendly." Murmured Talisia under her breath as the Obans stared at them, "There's nothing wrong with the mead. I just haven't acquired a taste for it yet." She just wanted a peaceful day with an old friend...couldn't they just let her have that? Please go back to your drunken corners. And her head would not stop pounding after that drink, "If you're so easily offended into action by my taste in drinks then no wonder we have so many wars." Her startling gaze went up towards the Obans, "In favor of having a peaceful day, I'll ask for some space so we can finish our meal and be out of your way."

His naturally pale skin was already beginning to darken as the drink's inner heat emitted outward. If he had kept a full stomach, or been properly hydrated it wouldn't have effected him at all. As it was Callum was just picking at his sweet bread, having had nothing else of substantial worth that day. "Getting as much as you can the first time tends to numb you to the taste later."

The sensation seemed to be hitting her hard, and Callum wasn't without sympathy. His days as a nomad, drinking as he pleased, had hardened him to the swill. Still, nothing could prepare either one of them for the swill that wouldn't shut up.

Callum dug into his hip pouch for a smaller satchel, and before their 'friends' could say anything he tossed it to the proprietress. "That should cover our tab. I think we'll be taking our meal to go." From the looks the Oban was giving Talisia for her glib responses Callum didn't expect a 'peaceful' solution. He started putting bits of food into his satchel and was jolted into reality by a fist that slammed onto the table.

"Are you ignorin' me now, boy?"

"Rude one, aren't I? And here, you've been so charming." Callum batted his eyelashes, causing the Oban to pull away just enough so that he could jump into action. In one fluid motion he lifted his last pint and tossed it in the speakers face. "Run Talisia, I'll cover you!"

He didn't seem worried in the least; if anything, Callum was grinning like the fool he was and almost laughing.

No wonder it would numb you to the taste later. Talisia wanted to retort as she felt like any sense of taste was going to be lost now. Surely all of my taste buds just burned away. Strangely she nearly giggled at the thought.

"But..." Talisia bit her lip against the protest. Callum was probably right. Even though she felt like she could easily pommel a few of them, there really was no need for a fight. It was a shame that they always had to be the ones to leave the scene, however. For once it would be nice if others would just lave and let them stay. She frowned at the thought.

It seemingly happened in slow motion. Talisia let out a sharp laugh at the appearance of the Oban who was soaked in drink, "Thanks for the meal!" She managed to yell towards the proprietress before she grabbed Callum's hand, "Just run with me!" Her free hand was already wrapped around her whip and when someone tried to move to block the door the hybrid reached out to knock a chair into their way. Jumping over it she sailed out from the tavern's doorway and tumbled into a run.

You can wrap it up in the next post if you want. c:

"Got'cha!" Callum sailed over the chair, laughing as he did so, before bursting out into the street. Before he took off with Talisia, however, he heard the proprietress mention something about getting her 'boot', which put the fear of the Gods in some of their attackers. It was enough to give them a head start, at least.

"This way, to the left!" Tugging her down a less busy street, Callum ducked and weaved around the ground as if he were made of wind itself. A few managed to shout at them, mostly because of the speed, and more than one assumed they were thieves. Why else would two hybrids be running that fast in an Oban city? He didn't seem to care, though; Callum stopped for no man!

Eventually he ducked into a little abandoned hovel, sliding against the wall that was closest to the street to avoid detection with an exhausted huff. "Things are never dull with you around, are they?"

yup. :3

For the strangest reason Talisia found all of this explicitly funny. Perhaps under more normal circumstances, if you could call such a chase normal, then the girl would have just enjoyed it for the simple thrill. Now though she was finding that all the spinning buildings were definitely more interesting than their normally stable forms. Perhaps...drinking isn't my thing. She managed to think before darting left with Callum.

As they slid down against the wall, Talisia fell against Callum with a giggle. "I 'spose not." Murmured the hybrid with a grin, "But it's only cuz of you." She leaned her head back against him and stared up into his face, "Thanks for the fun...but I don't think...drinks are good for me." Ever so slowly her gaze flickered closed as she fell against him, asleep.

In the morning she would probably have some form of headache, but in the end Talisia was still happy to have spent time with her friend.
