No. Itotia’s actions certainly did not show any kind of gratitude. Aseara had chopped it up to everyone being fearful or not so nice with her. Now however, as she reviewed all the times she had seen Itotia it made sense. The more Aseara examined her memories the more it dawned on her. She couldn’t’ believe it; Afsana couldn’t have really kidnapped her could she…? The thought was troubling, but the fact that Afsana was hiding this fact was even more troubling. What else had she done that wasn’t legal? What other dark secrets was she hiding up there?
“I didn’t know,” Aseara said truthfully. “And I don’t think anyone else knows.” She felt… Sorry for Itotia. Still, Itotia didn’t know everything herself.
“I was incompetent when she found me,” Aseara finally said, annoyed that she had to agree with itotia on that part. “My parents died when I was a youngling and I had to fend for myself. I was good at dancing and employment seemed like the best offer at the time. It was not always like this.” Yes Aseara did feel trapped now, but things had been good at one point, they had been better than good.
“I don’t have a home to return to now even if I wanted to.” Not without losing Nuri in the process anyways. Aseara was silent for a moment; she didn’t know what to say.
“I’m sorry,” She finally said. “I didn’t know you had been kidnapped and I do not think it is right. I don’t think that a lot of the things that have happened are right; things were different when I was in charge but I’ve been reduced to nothing. I have no power right now; she has stripped me of it. I cannot help you get back home. I can’t help anyone.” Aseara closed her eyes, it all returned to not being powerful enough to help anyone.
Sighing, Aseara sat back down to sulk. She hated all of this. “I do not seek riches; I like and more than enjoy my profession. When Afsana was gone things were not like this, I did not run things like this and never would what happened to you happen if I was in charge.” Aseara pinched the bridge of her nose, she could only think ti would get worst from here on out.”

Where Aseara felt pity, Itotia felt nothing. Maybe, she was a bit satisfied that the girl was finally seeing the truth, and that she was emotionally impacted by it. However, Itotia really didn't see the girl as anything else but Afsana's pawn. And Afsana had some more important pieces that Itotia needed to focus her frustrations on. She may have fear holding her back, but her grudges were deep and unrelenting.
Aseara was simply another tool that had been abused by the owner. She was a little girl that had no self-confidence to realize that she could control her own fate, if she really worked for it. Instead, she felt like she needed her hand held even now. It was a pity indeed.
"You still are incompetent if you think one woman controls the fate of your life." The yaeli bit out, no sympathy behind her words, "Afsana has manipulated you to think you need her for everything. We call that abuse back on Yael, I would not be surprised if the Obans called it generosity or good will. But you...you have been manipulated into thinking your great leader is the only option for your success, and you are too ensnared to ever escape and function on your own."
Another stab, but Itotia felt a bit empowered with how weak Aseara looked. Good, maybe the girl would finally realize just how tortured Itotia had been these past few months. It seemed she was on the right path with her apology, but Itotia took it as half hearted. Apologizing after the fact was stated really wasn't much in her eyes.
As Aseara finally settled down, Itotia let out a snort, "There is the difference between us, Aseara. You become defeated when the truth of your status is revealed. I refuse to back down, and some day I will make it home. Even if I have to swim back across the great sea, I will return to my land and prevail."

Aseara let Itotia rant, staring at her and feeling her anger raise again but putting it aside. Once the Yaelian was done, Aseara eyed her.
“The difference between you and I Itotia, is that you are selfish.” She had tried to hold back the bite in her words, but it was difficult. “I could leave whenever I wanted, whenever. However, I know there are others who would suffer if I did. All the other dancers and everyone working here under Afsana.” Things would get worst for all of them if some of the girls decided to leave, Aseara wasn’t even sure if she could leave whenever she wanted.
“I, unlike you, want to help the others and make sure what happened to you never repeats itself. However, I do not have the means to do anything. I am stuck in this vicious circle of being stripped of rank and income and proper clients. I have no plan. Not yet.” Aseara scoffed.
“You know you could leave if you really wanted to. I’ll even help you, but I won’t leave until everyone here is free of Afsana.” She would never let the others suffer while she went off to live a better life, it simply wasn’t fair. There was a better way of doing things and the Red Amaryllis had run perfectly fine under her care. She could maybe plan something out, a coup d’états so to speak and throw Afsana out while she took over. But that took more man power than Aseara had and she knew no one else would rise against Afsana.
“I am truly sorry those things happened to you, I truly am. However do not take my complacent attitude for someone who is backing down. I am buying my time until I figure things out. You don’t over throw someone like Afsana in a day and no one else will ever think of cross her.”

Her glowing eyes rolled up to the sky for a quick moment.
"You call me selfish, but give me a good reason why I should care for others? No one has done anything for me since I've been here. A gilded cage is a cage, and always my door has been locked. Had you not been ordered to, you too would whisper behind my back and mock me to my face"
She took a step back again, shaking her head slowly as she looked down at Aseara. She would not bow for the girl, not now.
"I do not trust your pretty little words, and I do not trust your offer for help. You did not want me here before, and I'm sure even if you take over, you will cast me aside for being what I am. I always am, and always will be, on my own."
With that, she bent down and picked up her books, before eyeing Aseara one last time.
"Until Afsana orders us to meet again."
And then she turned, and made her leave, refusing to turn back no matter what Aseara would have to say.

“Coward.” Aseara raised her voice enough for Itotia to hear. Itotia should have trusted her; Aseara would have taken any opportunity to get rid of the Yaelian. Afsana would have been angry but at least the Wind girl would have to go back to teaching her. If she did manage to take over she would have sent the girl right back home, as far away from her as was possible. That was the best solution in Aseara’s eyes, but of course Itotia had spit on the opportunity.
If Itotia thought she was better on her own then Aseara would let her be on her own.
Standing up, Aseara fixed her dress and left the garden. She had no desire to further teach the Yaelian, not for a few days at least. Her words lay heavily on her mind however. Could Aseara really leave if she wanted to? Surely she could, she had saved up as much of her money as possible and it would not be hard for her to find another job. Nuri would return too and things would get much better then. How she missed him…
For now it seemed like she was on her own though, just like Itotia was on her own. But the real question that was on her mind was how long would it take for Itotia to leave the Red Amaryllis or would she be swallowed up by it?
