Fi was squeezing her eyes shut tight when she felt the touch of another faun, she cracked one chocolate eye open to look at what she thought was Kai. "Twinkleshine?" The pain was subsiding for a minute. Long enough for her to figure out Kai was getting ordered around. Phiona nodded to answer Twinkle's question. She didn't trust herself to speak right then.

"Owwie" The mother to be whined, looking up to Twinkleshine. The baby was coming and it hurt. How long had this been going on? She didn't remember. Couldn't. One minute she was sleeping happily next to Kai, and the next she was screaming waiting for him to get back from wherever he'd run off to.

He didn't want to leave Fi's side, not even for a second more. But this was for the sake of their babies, and Twinkleshine had to know what was best. So he took a deep breath and nodded. "Right. Alright. I'll be right back, again, Fi." He turned and took a step right before he heard the fauny's question. His head snapped over his shoulder to first glance at the orange faunness before looking back at Twinkleshine. While her memories tended to be slightly better when Kaiden was concerned, remembering anything else often proved a challenge to the pregnant faun. Especially now with everything becoming chaotic. "No more than ten minutes ago? If you need rags right now, Fi's a clothier so there's scraps everywhere. And there's water in the next room." With the pregnancy he started keeping a bucket upstairs with them, for clean up after Fi's multiple bouts of morning sickness. It knocked two of the three things off Twinklshine's list, but admittedly alerting the healers downstairs seemed like a fair idea.

With that, he started to run- only to quickly slow down to a fast walk. Twinkleshine said not to run, even if his body really wanted to.

Twinkleshine looked to Kai at his answer and nodded once; so it hadn't been all that long after all. Shame; this meant that it might be quite the while before it was over. Carefully and gently stroking Fi's hand, the fauny moved around to try (and barely) get a look at the bucket Kaiden had mentioned. It was moments like these, as her horn glowed and the bucket floated just above the floor until it was within handreach, she was grateful for her blessings from Equestria. Turning, she too brought a duller-appearing scrap of fabric to her free palm and placed it in the water, soaking it before bringing it up to wipe Fi's forehead.

"Everything is going to be okay... Just relax... And breath..." she let the cool rag rest on her forehead. "Just like that... Breath in... and out... Slowly."

Fi whined, not really understanding what was going on. There was no way she was going to do any of this without Kai. He was about the only thing that kept her from completely loosing it. Her teeth were grit, eyes squeezed so tight tears were all but pouring from them. Fi even crossed her legs in her near pathetic attempt to not doing anything till Kai returned from wherever he was.

"Kaaaaaiiii" She sobbed, whining he wasn't there. Something in her head was telling her that whoever this was in front of her wasn't trying to hurt her or the really big bulging belly she seemed to be sporting. It was just her belly revolting against her. The orange fauness groaned, moaned, and continued to whine, waiting for her beloved to return.

He hurried down and around until he rushed into the infirmary, his thoughts only of the female he had left behind. Did she remember still why he wasn't there? What if she was thinking he abandoned her?

As he turned into the room, heads snapped up at his commotion. "Phiden is having our baby!" He exclaimed at their surprised faces. Some immediately looked excited, but others caught on to his worry. "Twinkle is with her right now. We should be alright. But please make a bed ready for her, just in case. I gotta go." Without seeing a response, he was gone again. He couldn't rightly think, only acting on Twinkleshine's orders. Let the staff know, and come right back.

Back up the stairs, two at a time. He abandoned the suggestion to take it calmly and went into a run. Faun were starting to poke their heads out of their knooks at Fi's wails, which could be heard rooms away. "Everthing's fine! Go back to your rooms!" He yelled but didn't stop for a moment. Not until he was back into their home, and trotted to Fi's side. Her cheeks were wet, obviously from crying. "I'm here now, I'm here and not going anywhere anymore. I swear."

Twinkleshine was aware enough of Fi's disposition, so her cries and fears were hardly surprising. Reaching up with her free hand, she softly rubbed her had to try and calm her as best as she could. For now, that was all she could do: comfort her. If the contractions increased much more in frequency, however, she might have to take other measures to ensure the health of both mother and child...

Luckily, such measures were apparently going to be unneeded.

As Twinkle looked to the hustling Kai, she fluidly transitioned away from Fi's side, which Kai now occupied, to gather some more fabric scraps and re-wet the one on her forehead.

"I hope you're prepared Kai; if this becomes to much for you, just look at Phiona instead..." Rolling up her proverbial sleeves, the fauny prepared to the intense process to come

Fi knew she was whining a lot, but she couldn't help it. Everything hurt so very much until Kaiden came back from wherever he'd gone. Who was this strange fauny between her legs? Why the heck was the fauny there anyways?

The orange fauness was ecstatic to see Kai again, latching onto him the instant he was within latching distance. She had no idea why everything hurt so bad. "Why does it hurt Kai?" She whimpered before a super painful sensation overcame her.

It went on like that for what seemed like an eternity. In reality, it was a matter of hours. Much screaming and confusion ensued. Overall, a very emotionally trying experience resulting in two utterly gorgeous babies.

He was her personal stress toy, being there to clutch and offering comforting or encouraging words depending on the time. The green faun did surprisingly well in hiding his own nerves by calming hers.

But there was so. Much. Blood. He kept glancing to Twinkleshine to make sure it was okay. The slightest word and he'd have rushed Fi down to the infirmary.

That word thankfully never came. Their patience and dedication paid off all in the instant the orange and green babies saw the light of day. After the cleanup and check up, they curled so snuggly against Fi. He himself hovered near, wanting a turn but at the same time loving the sight. It actually happened. They were parents. He looked up at the white fauny, who was no doubt exhausted as well. "Thank you Twinkle. Thank you."

Twinkleshine was about as exhausted as any of them by the time the ordeal was completed. A birth was always an ordeal, but even more so when out of the relative comfort of the infirmary. Thank Celestia all had gone well this time; with Phiona as she is, any number of things could have happened...

Best not to dwell on the 'what-ifs.'

"Oh, no need to thank me; I just happened to be in the right place at the right time and of the right trade to help." she stated. She then leaned forward to 'wash' her hands in the nearby tub of dirtied water - she'd take it with her to the infirmary to have it properly cleaned before bringing it back later - the fauny stood up, stretched and cracked her back, and gave the new parents a gentle smile.

"Congratulations to you both! Twins! What a lovely girl and dashing boy, I must say; wouldn't you believe it? I dare say the other healers will be so-o jealous they were not here to witness their birth."

Fi looked up to her love, smiling at him. They really had done it, through everything that was wrong with her, all the stress he'd endured with her own mental issues. They had managed to have two amazing little babies. She was glowing with pride at the two very small little ones in her arms. "So cute~" Her eyes had returned to the precious bundles in her arms. Another glance up at Kai, still beaming from ear to ear. "Kai, do you want to hold them?" After everything, and the pressure she'd put on his hands from squeezing them so tight, she had to think he desperately needed to hold them too. To know they were real, and not just a figment of their imaginations. How on the island had he managed to keep her thinking straight through this entire ordeal? Because he was amazing, that's why...

And then another voice intruded. It was.. familiar? Fi turned her smiling face to the other faun in the room. "Thank you." There was no way this faun hadn't helped them out. She knew she'd been holding onto Kai, but how else would their babies have come about? He couldn't help her and catch the little ones, could he? Though the orange faunness would have been content to believe he was just that epic. She looked up to him again, smiling. With a baby on either arm, she wasn't sure how to hand him either, or even both, but he should get to hold their family too. Family. Oh they had a family together! Laisidhiel was giving them nothing but blessings today!

He shook his head, still breathless. "I wouldn't believe it if I wasn't right here right now. I'm so happy." As Fi beamed up at him, he grinned down at her. She was tired and weak, but positively glowing. So beautiful. And their two perfect little faun babies were beyond words. "Y-yes! Of course. Yes." He leaned down to awkwardly take the orange one, got her settled in his arm, then took the green one. "Hi...hi little ones...I know you're sleeping...but I'm so happy to meet you."

Kaiden looked back up at Twinkle. He'd be forever grateful for her help. "I think we're ok now...if you think we're okay. All we need now...is names for these little guys."

Twinkleshine's smile softened as her eyes met Phiona's. How clear it was that she hadn't recognized her - that was to be expected, after all. Each an every time she forgot, but even so, it seemed some lasting memory remained. Twinkle's eyes glanced to the young as she moved to pick up the wash basin. Would either of these two lovely children suffer the same affliction?

If so, was that necessarily such a bad thing?

She need only look at their being to know that even so large a hurdle, from her eyes, had found their own happiness. And that was all that mattered, wasn't it?

Moving quietly so as not to disturb the moment, she picked up the washbasin and excused herself from the abode. She might have been of the mind to remind Kai to have both mother and child visit the infirmary soon for a wellness exam, but she trusted him to do so of his own accord. No sense in breaking the moment.

She'd send one of the ones more suited to this right up anyways right when she got back to double-check things.

Exhausted, Fi smiled up at her mate. He was glowing with pride, holding two bundles of only slightly off colored fur and cute. But mostly, he just looked like the best mate in all of the lands. She looked around herself, realizing whoever was just leaving their little bubble hadn't let too much of a mess remain.

It was a great comfort, and even better to know when she moved off to the side and patted the space near her. "Kai?" The smile may have been visible on her face, but it was more than clear in her voice. They had a family! Oh blessings, they had two little fauns to look after! And Kai would make the best of fathers! How could he not? He was already the best mate around! "We can give them names soon, lets just rest and enjoy their presence?" Mostly, she was just ready for a huge sleep. Kai had to be super tired too right? He'd done almost everything!

Twinkleshine quietly left, but Kaiden hardly noticed. His world was in front of him, with two sleeping babes and his beautiful mate. "Yeah?" He pried his gaze from the kids to look up at his name. His smile only grew before slowly sliding into the bed next to her. "I'd like that."

And so he snuggled up with their two sleeping bundles. Guess he was more tired from the birthing than he knew, because before he knew it, he himself was just as out.

One perfect little family, all sleeping after a hard, long day.
