“We’re afraid of them, if you want the honest truth. We can’t go against the Negaverse openly because they are stronger than us, they are better organized than us and they’d kill us all just for fun.”
Raven began putting the cookies on the tray, and after the first few her hands were shaking. “I don’t know if you have any strange…strange memories from a time that…that wasn’t even real. But I do. It was a future where the Negaverse was in total power, and it was all we could do just to stay alive, let alone stay happy. They had the whole world, Ofie, and I promise you I want to stop that, but if we try to attack them as we are now…we’ll all die.”
She still hadn’t looked up at the other woman, and spent a moment putting the first two sheets of cookies into the oven. Finally she looked over at Ofie.
“Personally, I don’t want to die. I have too much to live for. I share your hatred of them, but right now the easiest…and the safest thing to do is pretend to play nice. Maybe one day we can have a strong enough team that we can rise up against them and get rid of them…but right now, and I’m sorry if this isn’t what you want to hear, but right now if you go against them, you’ll end up killed, and I don’t want that for you. I’m sorry you feel you have nothing to lose, but we do, we really do…I will support you though, as much as I can. I’ll be your mental and emotional shoulder if that’s what you want…or I can help you find a way to join the white moon…I mean, I already lost my best friend to them so…what’s losing another…right?”
The blonde turned away again, hand going up to brush a fresh wave of tears away. “I don’t want to see you hurt. And I want to help you…but I just can’t. Not right now…I’m sorry.”

"I don't think I ever expected to survive this war anyway." And in many ways she just wished that Ares would have finished her off that night. Ofie had learned that there was scarier things than dying, one of those things was the regret of not acting sooner, to be the last one standing when everything was gone. To be a ghost whilst still alive, it scared her every day.
That was the thought that kept her awake at night, she at least wanted to put up a fight, she had to. If she didn't everything was meaningless. Everybody who had already fallen, did so for nothing. She could never be content with just riding this out, that would kill her.
Ofie wondered over to Chloe, putting one of her fingers in the hand of the little girl. She really was cute.
"You're so lucky Raven. If I had half of what you had, I would not want to risk it either. I do not blame you for that. It is easier for me, your right - but you have something to fight for." That agent she was appeasing today might very be the agent that pulls out Chloe's starseed on the way to school when she is older, that thought would terrify Ophelia. They were not safe, Chaos could get bored of them and decide to destroy them all without warning, if they acted or not. It was coming.
She just did not understand why Raven did not want to protect this, even if it meant her own life, was she content with letting other people die for it instead? Was she that afraid? "I am not trying to talk you into anything, I know it is not going to happen. There is no point in upsetting you if that is the case. I am just... "
This is why we should not get too attached to our civilian lives.
This is why Ophelia did not want to get close to anyone, it was frustrating. Frustrating to think that people would only take up arms when everything was already taken away. She shook her head at Raven. "I am not going anywhere. For now I just need to focus on getting stronger, I still have not been able to reach Super yet and I am beginning to worry it will never happen." She sighed.
"T-there is not really much you can do if that is the case. If anything maybe keep the Court off my back?
If anyone is looking to purify send them my way because I have friends that can help them, even if I can't myself. More so if you meet any fighters that want to go up against the Negaverse, I need them too. Everything else...
Just carry on the way you are going I guess....
Do you still think its a good idea to let yourself and Chloe get close to me? If the officers or sympathisers in our Court do find out its me that is picking them off, and we are friends, it could all come back on you and Jett. I have tried to explain that to Jett, but maybe you will look at it more objectively

Raven just nodded, keeping her back to Ofie until she was sure that her tears were gone. Slowly she set the oven timer and finally turned around, sighing. “You’ll reach super, Ofie. You’ll reach it. I’ll keep the other DMC off of your back, you just tell me who’s bothering you and I’ll take care of it. I promise.”
The blonde gave a feeble attempt at a smile and nodded. “I still want to get close to you. Just because there is the threat of dying…it’s still worth it to have friendships and family and all of that good stuff. You’re going through so much, and I do apologize for that. I should have been there for you better than I was…I won’t fail you now, Ofie…but it’s your choice if you want the friendship I’m offering. If you don’t, you don’t have to accept my invitations to visit or hang out or anything...you could just disappear again, and if it is your wish…I won’t follow. And I’ll make sure Jett doesn’t either.”
It was the least she could do.

"I always wanted to be your friend Raven." It was true, maybe at first it was because she was Jett's girlfriend, but then it was because of something else. It had taken her a long time to work out that the envy she felt might actually have been admiration, this girl who used to make her so unsettled, all she ever wanted to do was be like her. To be liked by her. Then it got to a certain point and she gave up on it all, after that it was easier to convince herself that she disliked the blonde. Though, she never really believed it.
"I did miss you. I missed you all very much."
All those months alone, cold and afraid. Of course she missed them, there was not a night that passed where she did not want to come back, she just couldn't. Maybe now, Raven would understand why. Understand the dilemma she was faced with every day. "I just do not know what to do anymore. Just being friends, talking like normal people do, having fun and relaxing. The thought of it gives me terrible anxiety - I have forgotten how its done."
What even were friends? The closest thing she had was Castor? Was he a friend? Oh dear Lord, her concept of normal friendship was screwed. Her only real friend was a winged pretty boy who had no idea what she was.
"So... Maybe you just have to show me how?" She gave in and approached Raven from behind, wrapping her arms around her and resting her head on the other girls shoulder. "Starting with cookies." She closed her eyes and sighed.
"Right, what should I do?"
