3:15 am - Showers
Pressing his hands against the wall, the Sun was silent as he kept his eyes closed and enjoyed the feel of the hot water against his skin, gradually feeling more awake by the second though his mood was still sour judging by the expletives that peppered his speech. ”Early. Gotta go run a couple ******** laps, stab a few ******** dummies before reporting to the infirmary. You coming in or heading out?”
Running his hands through his hair, he reached for the shampoo bottle that was supposed to be there but wasn’t because of his own absent mindedness, muttering a soft curse at the realisation before turning to Zeke. ”... I forgot the shampoo and soap on my way out. Mind if I borrow yours?”

10:25 pm - infirmary"Have you checked the Victoria base?" It was light, casual. As if they were talking about something else that offered a passing interest, and not people. Zeke removed the existing bandage carefully with deft, warm fingers along her back. Once it was gone, she'd feel the coolness of antiseptic before he placed fresh gauze over the wound. It would heal quickly. When this bandage was ready to be removed shouldn't have to replace it. "I've been here since last summer." Medical tape was applied to hold gauze in place, then Zeke rolled his stool back around the cot so he was facing her again. If she looked, she'd see the evidence of his time on the island. A neat slash through one brow, and the rather obvious run of burns that covered the majority of his left hand and arm, all the way up along the side of his neck. Every vehement curse had auburn brows arching higher and higher in amusement as Zeke listened to Kyle ranting, and he shook his head, laughing as he rinsed his hair out. "Heading out. I finished my time, now I get to sleep." The request for his shampoo and soap was met with a twitch of pale eyes in the Sun's direction, then a shrug of broad shoulders. "Sure, help yourself."

”Lucky you.” Kyle grumbled, envious of the fact that Zeke was done with his day whereas his was just starting. ”Next time I get off the ******** island, I’m going to do myself a ******** favour and get some decent coffee beans to make myself a decent brew instead of the ******** sewage that they serve us at the cafeteria.” It was about time that he used his pay to get himself a somewhat decent caffeine fix if he was going to survive the long hours that they were required to put in on a daily basis on the island.
Reminding himself over and over not to look down or do something overtly stupid like slipping and falling onto the Mist, he made his way over, first helping himself to the shampoo before stopping himself just as he was about to reach for the soap. ”Thanks... I hope that you won’t take this the wrong way but this soap is strictly for personal self hygiene use right?” He asked with a side glance at the other man.

"No- I didn't even think of that! Do you think many of them would be there?" She asked, sounding hopeful.
The difference in temperatures was enough to result in a small shiver, but was thankful when the new bandage was placed over the wound- far better than what she had done before hand.
Glancing over her shoulder, her gaze followed him as he moved to sit in front of her. The scars were definitely noticed. Trying not to openly stare at them, the girl shifted in her spot slightly, hesitating on asking about them. "Umm.. if you don't mind me asking. How did you get those scars?" After all, it would be nice to have a little insight on just what she might come across as a hunter.

3:15 am - showers"I guess, though I did have to endure a twelve hour shift to get to this point." The exhaustion was prevalent in his voice. He raised a brow at Kyle as he spoke, every third word a hard curse. It had the Mist smiling in a lazy, amused little curl as he reached for his soap. "Well there's your problem," he pointed out, humor saturating his tone. "The coffee in the cafeteria isn't worth s**t. You should get it from the break rooms in the infirmary." He paused, eyes rolling up thoughtfully for a moment. "Well, break areas as the case may be." He was looking forward to the day they found a better plan than keeping the infirmary in a field tent. The question about the soap had Zeke glancing back at Kyle, and again a brow rose curiously. "What else would I use it for?" 10:26 pm infirmary"I'm not sure," he admitted mildly, a lazy little smile settling on his features. "But it's worth looking into, if nothing else." Questions about his scars, at this point, were more or less expected. Even among the hunters on Deus, Zeke had managed to acquire quite a few, and the worst of them were highly visible given his preference for rolled sleeves. "This one," he side, pulling the the collar of his scrubs and turning to show her the fluttery wing like scars on the back of his left shoulder, just outside the reach of the burns. "Was given to me by a nasty member of the Famine clan. Which, if you haven't gotten the run down on them you will." If she was new, she probably hadn't yet gotten the lectures on the various things that were trying to kill them. "This on here," he pointed to his brow. "Was some over sized thorns attacking our dorms." His left arm back up between them so she could see it better. "This happened the same time. Something was making people sick, and the worst they got, the more violent. One of them had a runic torch."

Brie nodded at the suggestion. It was definitely something she would need to look into. If there was some way to find out that they were alive, then it would be enough for her.
Sitting quietly, she watched and listened as he explained the origins of his scars. She had zero idea on what it was the famine clan was, but she was sure someone would fill her in on it later. Definitely something to be wary of though, considering the scar that was left on Zeke.
At the mention of thorns, the girl winced. Why, she had no idea, but the idea of anything dealing with thorns didn't sit well with her. "I take it these kind of things are a common occurrence then?"

10:27 pm - infirmaryHe rolled his shoulders, smiling up at her. "Common enough, but don't get me wrong. It doesn't happen to everyone." Pale eyes rolled. "There are some hunters on island walking around that have been here longer than I have that don't have a mark on them. It's all just the luck of the draw." Standing again, he pushed the stool back against the wall. "That in mind, a piece of advice for you." Zeke turned again, wandered back to stand in front of her. "Life's too short to waste time on regrets and maybes."

3:15 am - Showers
"Was it a bad or good shift? Is there anyone in particular that I should be keeping an eye on?" It wasn't like Kyle to talk to people about infirmary things when they were outside of the facility and off duty in the communal shower to boot. But now that they were operating in a resource limited setting and Zeke brought up the fact that he had just come off shift from there, he thought that he might as well check with the Mist if there was anything significant going on there before he was due for his shift later in the day.
Lathering the shampoo on his hair, the Sun gave Zeke an incredulous look when he suggested that he tried the coffee that was provided in the break area of the infirmary the next time he was there. "The break room in the infirmary? We have decent coffee there?" He had always assumed that the coffee provided there would be the exact same one that was served to them en masse in the cafeteria. Somehow for all the resources that the organisation was privy to, spending a couple of cents more to get remotely decent coffee for their hunters whenever they needed a caffeine boost to help get them going wasn't terribly high up on the wish list of whoever called the shots behind such things.
Rinsing his hands first, he turned to look at Zeke and the look that he was giving him. Okay. The both of them were adults here, never mind the fact that he had zero experience with sex other than theoretical knowledge of how it's done and the anatomical difference between a man and a woman, so here goes trying to be tactful with his words yet without being terribly blunt lest he offended the other man. "A convenient substitute for lube in times of great need?" There was an unmistakeable flush spreading across his face as he said all that though.
