Matt’s expression went to a narrow stare again as the same grin was plastered on the Ever’s face, it was at this point obvious he had done something. Rubbing his face in his hands he paused for a moment before chuckling. “I am going to be stuck at the infirmary today with something on my face and I won’t even know what to do until I get on break. Oh, at least it will be fun.” There wasn’t anything he could do but laugh it off at that point, and deal with whatever complaints he got later.

He picked a piece from the center, slowly pulling it off as the tower wobbled just a little.

“Yea.. that was my fault for not doing the whole read the rules before you touch anything. I’ll admit the whole training isn’t always my forte and…” Matt pressed his lips before finishing his sentence there was no reason to say anything else.

Before Matt could confess his horrible skills in not only sparring but the few EM’s that he had participate the tower toppled over in a loud crashing sound. Less than a minute later Ever was slumped over the table counting and then onto the floor in a heap. Pulling him out from under the table Matt laid him flat as a sharpie marker rolled onto the floor. Pocketing it himself he checked the man’s pulse, not really necessary but out of a routine habit before heading back to the table with the tower. Placing his hands on it he said the word written down before taking a piece.

Payback yes, Matt crouched down again looking at Ever, placing a hand under his chin he turned the man’s head deciding which cheek to doodle something on. He really did look a lot better not always grinning at him. Holding the pen above his left cheek Matt paused, as if still debating doing the same thing in return was really something he should do.

He doodle a little butterfly on Ever’s cheek anyway.

Leaning against the table, Matt waited for the other hunter to wake up, noting the drool in the corner of his mouth. Soon he stirred confused but before Matt could offer Ever a hand up off the ground he was already pulling himself up with the edge of the table.

“Yea, you were out less then a minute after.” He waited for him to pull a piece before taking his own turn again. Pulling a piece near the edge of the center he added it to the pile before giving a bit of apologetic smile.

“You ok?”

Matt didn’t say anything at first, taking another piece near the top without any issues in the tower shifting. Instead he looked back at the blonde, his eyes narrowed in some sort of disgruntled concern before rubbing his cheek with this hand, his forehead, and then looking away.

“I can’t help you with the cigarettes sorry.” It was a habit he wasn’t fond of, at least not supporting but it didn’t mean he wasn’t fond of the taste. The man was too skinny and a smoker, he was like a walking hazardous case of concern for the infirmary someone Matt would always worry about on rounds.

Matt didn’t say anything but pulled another brick off the tower, he watched it lean for a moment and then sat back in the chair as it remained up.

Even if smoking did no real harm, in terms of cancer it was still something he avoided himself and some part of him wasn’t entirely convince it still didn’t have some effect. Not as if everything else at Deus was out to kill them in some way, but no, he preferred to taste it on other’s people lips not his.

“Sorry, I’ll try not to take too much time on this.” If he could help it.

Matt’s brows furrowed as he caught the surprise expression on Ever’s face, he wasn’t entirely sure what the reason if was for but he lost the thought when the grin returned.

“You could have just said something, I am not in any rush for the most part. I would have waited with you outside until you were done.” It was really no hassle for him and it was one of the few days that Matt didn’t have a shift until the late night at the infirmary. He hadn’t meant to inconvenience the other hunter.

Reaching for a piece towards the bottom the tower wobbled and then crashed across the table. An apologetic look immediately shot across his face as he looked at Ever, the sound and p***k of dart hitting him on the back of his neck.

“s**t…sorry I didn’t mean to make this…” His words trailed off as he slumped down in his chair, and then onto the floor.

Matt woke up with a groan as he rubbed the sleep from his face, he laid there on the floor the smell of cheap cigarettes faintly in the air. For a moment he didn’t know where he was, or at least for a moment he didn’t think he was at Deus but at some hotel after a binger.

He looked over, seeing Ever and the tower, and groaned again when he remembered what he was doing last, mostly disappointed by it not being what he had hoped. Getting to his feet he sat down, this time carefully pulling a piece from the tower.

“Sorry. You get your smoke break at least?”

As Ever spoke Matt immediately raised his hands to his cheeks rubbing whatever could possibly be there unsure if what he was doing was just making a smudge or not.

“Out of everyone I have met on this island you’re the only one who makes me strangely nervous, that is next to the woman who tried to murder me.” He looked at Ever’s grin as he propped his elbow on the table with chin in hand and took his turn on removing a piece from the tower.

It wobbled, and then leaned before crashing down, the dart hitting him with its prickling annoyance before the last piece stopped moving. Shoving his chair back he laid down on the floor, if he was going to have to sleep he could at least not fall out of his chair this time.
