Rannoch wasn't sure what to make of the little crystalline object Caledonite held and spoke into - some sort of communicator? That seemed much more efficient than whatever Knights might have.

"Of course I was curious about the magic...it's magic," he said, and there was a certain sense of wonder in his words that came across even through him being tired. He nodded assent to trying not to fall asleep, but it was hard. "No, leave my glasses, I've napped with them on before."

And then he felt something that made him jolt awake, jerk back into a seating position and off Caledonitems shoulder. Rannoch was still new to aura sensing - had really only felt Eden's and Caledonite's.

And a Page and a Lieutenant were nothing compared to a General-Queen. He found himself scrambling into a standing position, a sudden burbling up of fight or flight response inspire by the crushing feel of Laurelite's dark aura. But bolting when Caledonite had gone out of the way to call this woman - it was rude, wasn't it? And it might get him in trouble.

"Um, it was me," he said, and his vice shook a little. "I'm Rannoch of Cosmos and I'm afraid I'm terribly new to all of this and I was, ah, very curious."

The silence over the communicator made the Lieutenant's eye twitch. He wondered how often that happened. Oh well. Caledonite put the small object away with the promise to explain it to his companion another time.

Cale sighed quietly when Laurelite showed up and Rannoch, of course, became nervous. "Rannoch, this is Laurelite. One of the General Soverigns I told you about."

He then turned to the woman. "My apologizes Queen. I hope I did not interupt anything important in your research by calling you here tonight. I have explained a few things to him to help with his curiousity. However, I don't know how far my word as a Lieutenant will go. I was hoping that you, as a Queen, could take him and explain a few things to him as well. Show him how things work better than I could. Like you did with me."

Cale hadn't let go of the man's hand as he spoke. Gently he pulled the Page forward and ushered him towards Laurelite. "Go on Rannoch. You'll be okay."

Laurelite watched and listened, as she was so apt to do, with that little smile on her face. "You called me here for information?" she prompted, sounding as sweet as she did suspicious. Her eyes went to Caledonite as she spoke, as if trying to read his face for some unspoken request.

She said nothing else, and though she was unaware of the male's plans, she seemed prepared to humor him.

The General Queen extended a hand to the Knight. "Rannoch?" she prompted. "I am General Queen Laurelite. I commend you for your bravery. Most Knights tremble in my presence. Very few have the courage to speak to me. Ask me your questions, and I will answer."

Rannoch took a breath. She seemed, so far, to be at least friendly - or, well, not actively trying to kill him. And he did want to know. So he took her hand and shook it.

"Thank you, General-Queen Laurelite, I imagine you have much more pressing things to do than educate a new Page," he deferred, a little. But, oh, he was so curious.

"Um, Caledonite said that he used to be a Knight, like me -- I was wondering how he came to be..." He gestured at the Lieutenant. "An...officer? Is that the word?" That he was utterly green showed in even thew way he spoke of the war. "For, um, my personal interest, mostly." He wasn't sure he wanted to leave, to become something else, because he wasn't sure what else might happen in the process.

And he liked his little lake and his name and even his silly rannoch-rush weapon. (He had looked it up, the night before, in a flurry of curiosity.)

"Ah... Yes." Caledonite would be lying if he said he wasn't the slightest bit worried when her gaze fell and rested on him for a moment. "I touched lightly on the subject but, I figured that perhaps you could elaborate a bit more on it given that you were there for me."

Cale's gaze fell back to Rannoch when he spoke the corner of his lip turning up just slightly. "... Perhaps you would like a demonstration Rannoch? She can show you, if you want. It's a little easier to understand something like this if you see it. Words only go so far." If Rannoch truly was a teacher, perhaps the thought of something like that would lure Rannoch in. "It would help you understand things, and see a little more clearly." The Lieutenant slipped his hand from the page, gently ushering him towards the teal haired woman.

Laurelite had extremely pressing matters to attend to. Like, say, pressing her hand into his chest. She refrained for a second, and then nodded. "Absolutely, my dear. I'll do you one more than just tell you. I'll show you."

Caledonite had the right idea.

Her hand, soft and delicate, moved swiftly to plunge into his chest. That in itself was not necessarily painful—or, at least, she wasn't trying to hurt him. It was inevitable, but he'd thank her for it in the morning. If he even remembered tonight.

She found his starseed with practiced ease; this boy was not strong enough to properly resist or to try to escape her, but she persisted with the same intensity she would have with someone who at least stood a chance. Her manicured fingers wrapped around his starseed and she gripped gently, but she pushed Chaos into him. Fed it into him like food to a starving man.

Perhaps he would be too surprised to be unwilling, but she didn't much care. He would be malleable either way. And after she did the hard part, she'd just have to trust Rannoch to do the rest.

Rannoch's eyes widened, and he went to take a step back. But it was too late. Her hand sank into his chest.

"Wait, please --" But Laurelite would not wait. Chaos would not wait. And in that moment, he realized he had been deceived. It was far, far too late for it to matter, but he knew, and he struggled, and then he knew nothing at all, because when Chaos took the Cosmos Page's starseed, it took all his memories with it.

Except a lake of stars, and a whisper in his ears and his mind.

"After time adrift among open stars, along tides of light and through shoals of dust, I will return to where I began."

The new Lieutenant started to collapse - already drained and weak, the pain of a forced corruption left him unable to stand.

Caledonite couldn't stop himself from shifting his weight from one foot to another in an agitated manner. Though it had been months since then, the Lieutenant remembered all to well the feeling of being corrupted. He absently rubbed at his chest, over his starseed as he watch Rannoch's corruption.

When it was over and the newly minted Lieutenant started to collapse, he lunged forward and quickly collected him before his body could hit the ground. "You're safe now. I promise." He said softly to the body in his arms. "You're okay." Cale reached you and brushed a lock of hair out of the tired man's face. The same one that had fallen in his face when he was Rannoch.

Speaking of which...

Caledonite's gaze flicked away from The man and up towards Laurelite. "Thank you, General Queen. If I may adk you one more thing before you go? What is his name, now that he is where he rightly belongs?"

Laurelite breathed a soft sigh and relaxed some. These things were draining, but it always seemed easier when they were still so fresh. She heard Caledonite's words but did not process them immediately; her mind felt like it was just waking up after a long sleep.

She made a thoughtful noise as she examined his uniform. Who he was before was of little importance; all that mattered now was who he was going to be for her. For Metallia.

He had a particular design on his uniform that reminded her of the night sky. She looked up to the stars and sighed—and then the name hit her.

"Galaxite, I think, should suffice." She returned her gaze to Caledonite. "He will likely require rest and explanation, and a safe home to retire to. Are you capable of providing these things, or shall I summon another officer to take care of him now?"

Caledonite watched the General Queen as he waited for an answer. He dare not ask a second time, for he did not want the trouble that often accompanied rushing someone of her status.

"A fitting name, M'lady." He said, looking at the man in his arms as he shifted him ever so slightly. "I am capable. There is more then enough space at my place. He should be perfectly fine there. I will watch over him and provide what he needs. I will personally see to it that he knows what he needs to know. There is no need to summon anyone else."

He looked back up at her once more. "Thank you again. Your assistance is highly appreciated." Cale would show her, along with everyone else, that this was no mistake. Rann- Galaxite, was where he was suppose to be. They both were.

Laurelite did not need the thanks, but she appreciated it all the same. "The pleasure is all mine, Caledonite. I am proud of you. Keep up the good work." She seemed relaxed, despite being a bit tired. "…I except good things from you. Thank you."

She smiled, one of her more genuine smiles and then drew in a breath.

She teleported then, leaving Caledonite to deal with his new charge.

The newly-named Lieutenant Galaxite was barely conscious of what was going on around him. He did catch, briefly, what he assumed was his new name -- but it did not register as much more than a word, from the lips of the woman who had just...changed...him.

He sank against Caledonite, and his eyes closed as the rest of his consciousness slipped away from him.
