His sincere words were met with an equally sincere nod. He had family in the area - all the more reason for her to fill him in. She did not know whether he was the sort that would actually try to do anything, but even if he just passed along the information that made him and his family a little more knowledgable and cautious when they were traveling through the city. Well.. maybe she'd done a little good.
She wondered how full the dining area would be and if they'd be able to continue talking, feeling the sudden need to warn him that large events and gatherings tended to be particularly dangerous. Aurora supposed even if they couldn't speak here she could try and let him know when they left.
The explanation was met with a thankful nod before she dutifully set about the required ritual. It was lucky that Aurora wore simple heels, as opposed to the bulky laced boots that Polaris did. They were slipped off with ease and placed into one of the cubbies before she slipped the strange indoor shoes onto her feet and rejoined Seung. "I will try my best not to do anything to embarrass you." She joked nervously, suddenly thankful that she was still dressed in something fairly nice and hadn't changed to pjs or anything silly before henshining up for the night.

Laughing he nodded his head, understanding what she said. "It is ok, they are used to...American's." Or clueless people. It wasn't too hard to catch on to and he would advice, once they got a table, on a fork option unless she was good with chop sticks, he'd heard they could be hard for other people to learn. He'd grown up with them so he couldn't understand it really.
Stepping up and into the restaurant he took a glance about finally. The place wasn't too packed, with tables and booth seating available all around. "Corner." He said nodding to a corner booth away from most other people. It would be a good idea to go for a seat away from others considering the conversation, even he knew it wasn't something to have overheard by others.
Offering for her to go first he wasn't surprised when a female worker came over already wanting orders. It was in Korean that he explained that they would need a few minutes, his friend has never been here or had Korean food. A menu in English was also needed. The conversation ending with both giving a quick bow and the woman going to get a menu in English for Aurora. "Avoid the soju, is alcohol." And he didn't think she'd want to drink and possibly get tipsy or drunk. He wasn't even sure if she was legal drinking age, it was never easy to tell a persons age, he was terrible at it honestly.

Well that was a relief. Aurora tended to be a fairly polite person by nature. And well mannered after years and years of boarding school. But what was considered well mannered in the United States was not necessarily well mannered for other countries. It was a relief that she didn't need to be that stressed out about it though.
They were ushered to a corner table with a nice distance between them and anyone else, and the young woman sat down, admiring and taking in the restaurant with soft interest. She was particularly interested when the conversation took place in front of her in Korean looking between the worker and Seung and when a menu was brought to her she nodded appreciatively. "Thank you."
There was a soft laugh when he gave the bit of advice to avoid the alcohol, her offering an amused nod. She really didn't drink that much, or practically at all - all the alcohol at home was used for cooking and baking purposes.
She was slightly concerned that she wouldn't find much, given the fact that she didn't like fish that much, and presumptions about Asiatic countries. But it didn't take her too long to settle on something, her finger tapping on the menu at the Bibimbap, before looking to him curiously for his opinion.Sleet Tempest Snape Thanks so much for the link it was very helpful! heart

Glad she seemed to be relaxed, rather than worried or anxious, she looked over his own menu deciding to try something new here. The liked to come here often and try various dishes, comparing to what he had back home, to see how it all was. He could then tell his family before they tried something, his mother was doing a lot of home cooking right now rather than getting food out.
Looking up as Aurora seemed to have settled on something he nodded his head. "Is good here, lots of food." It wasn't something that would be too spicy, in his opinion, for her and it would be a filling meal. He'd had it here the other night so knew what she'd be in for.
"Lots of vegetables." He said with a smile on his face. His own menu he set down after a quick glance at it, having decided as well on his own meal. "I'm getting." And he pointed to her menu, to let her know what he was getting, he was going with a mix of mandu, or dumplings. "if you want to try some." He said with a smile, though he had a feeling she'd be stuffed with what she was going to be ordering. "Drink?" He asked, wanting to know what she wanted to drink as he motioned a waitress over.
Placing his food and drink order he placed the food order for Aurora as well, letting them know that each thing was just for one person. Iris_virus Yeah, I found them on youtube a few months back and have seen a fair amount of their videos. They have a lot of good information so I thought it would help cause they describe things well. His confirmation that she made a good choice received a pleased nod, and she looked with interest as his choice. It also sounded pretty good. The question about what to drink prompted a thoughtful, "Any sort of tea would be fine." Cold, hot, flavored - there were very few she didn't like so it seemed like a good enough choice.
Orders placed Aurora finger tips settled on the table, her eyes once again glancing around the establishment. It was strange to be out eating with someone you literally knew nothing about. She was rather uncertain what to talk about, and she briefly wondered what others thought of the two. Did they think they were on a date? Her mind flashed momentarily to Azzo, having to bite back the laugh and smile that tried to come to her as she thought of him ordering the entire menu.
"I have never had any treat me to food after saving them." She said after a moment, to break the silence, her voice low enough to not be heard by the others in the room. "Sometimes I don't even get a thank you. Not that I blame them. The bad ones have done a very good job of trying to paint us senshi as bad people on the news."

With the orders placed, a flavored hot tea, for Aurora and something cool for himself he watched the waitress leave with the menus before he turned back to Aurora. At the end of the table, by the window, were the condiments they might need and metal chopsticks for them to use. Where placed brought forks and knives, spoons, and such out as needed they had them at the table but also he'd been sure to ask for a fork and spoon for Aurora, in case she didn't know how or didn't want to take the time with chop sticks.
"It is polite...you saved me. It would be rude to just leave you." Without thanking her, and to just go and have a nice hot meal. She had done the fighting, even if it wasn't much, and possibly worked up a small hunger. It would be polite if he offered her a meal in order to tend to that.
Listening to her he caught some of it and nodded. "Should fix that...you do good. Tell me more about it...all of it." Even if he only understood some of it. He'd know more in the end and could better help himself and his family, knowledge here would have power and protection.

"I appreciate it." She smiled a little again in soft amusement as he mentioned the politeness. She wished the world was full of a little more politeness and manners and kindness. Often times, especially in a big city, things like politeness and manners were a rarity.
Her eyes glanced around the room once more before she leaned forward a little, obliging his request thoughtfully. By conversing, she figured, they'd seem slightly less out of the ordinary and draw less attention.
Of course what to say...?
"I told you a little about the monsters, the youma. But they are just tools of a bigger danger. The Negaverse. They are the ones that have spread the lies on the news. They wear black instead of the white like us."
"The people in the Negaverse also try to take energy from people. But they look just like regular people, so it isn't always as easy to realize until you're already in danger."
"Some of them wear uniforms.. kind of like the military. Other ones wear outfits more like the one I was wearing."
She paused for a moment as someone walked by the table on their way someplace out. It seemed a good place to see if he was still on the same page, or needed more explanation of anything she'd said.

They wore black...how cliche was that? It really did seem cliche that one side would wear white and the other black - so typical. Didn't they have something like that in many animes? He was pretty sure about that actually, darker colors makes for a badder character while lighter colors makes for someone good.
"Like you? Regular person?" He questioned the female while he understood military and uniforms, that would make it easier to pick some of them out of a crowd. Others would be harder. "All outfits...stand out?" He asked. If they all stood out, couldn't wear the outfits in public without gaining attention, it would help to identify them. He just hoped he could protect himself and anyone else he might have to if he ever needed to. He needed to find a gym and sign up, clearly, so he could get back to working out.
Watching her pause he was expecting things to continue but they didn't as food came over moments after the first person passed them by on their way out. Food and drink and side dishes, lots of side dishes including kimchi both the cabbage and the radish kind. As food and side dishes, and drinks were set down he thanked the waitress before motioning to the forks, spoons, and chopsticks. "Whatever you need, enjoy."

"Yes, they are regular people too." The words were soft and thoughtful. It was often easier when you didn't think of the other side as being normal people. With families and friends...
The next question drew her from her retrospect however and she shifted a little thoughtfully. "Most of the outfits do stand out unless they can be hidden under coats or other clothing. So they tend to stick to working at night or in places where they can conceal themselves if possible."
The arrival of food, both the sight and smell drew her attention away momentarily. When the silverware was offered however she reached for the chopsticks. She was certainly no expert with them, and would likely drop a thing or two if she wasn't paying good enough attention. But she was proficient enough to make do and as they said 'when in Rome'.
Stirring the food lightly with her chopsticks until all the rice and vegetables were mixed up together, she lifted a small bite to her mouth, before popping it into her mouth with the slow curiousity of a frequent 'chef'.
"It's very good." She said after a moment. It was too bad she didn't get treated more often. Especially when it involved expanding her food horizons.Sleet Tempest Snape Ugh I'm sorry, I always lose/forget about this one since it's in a weird forum. Fun fact - In a lot of anime bad guys will actually dress in white or have white hair/eyes because white is associated with death in Asian cultures. 8D

So nighttime was when he would need to be most careful, and he would warn his family of course also. He wouldn't mention how he knew just that he did, he didn't want to worry his parents over tonights incident. He did want them to be careful and safe though so he would tell them something.
If the outfits stood out at least it would help his family, and himself, in spotting potential danger, unless they covered up like Aurora said they could do. At least this was a bit more help in keeping safe. Every bit helped and he appreciated it.
Smiling when the food arrived, thanking the woman who brought it over, he watched to see how she'd like her choice in meal. His own he took to eating slowly. He had gone with mandu filled with various things. The little side dishes were good also as he reached for the scissors they had at the table so he could cut up the kimchi to have with some of the white rice provided for them. "Should try more Korean food. You might like it." He said as after taking a sip of his own drink.Iris_virus It's ok, and yeah I always found it odd but interesting as well. They also avoid certain numbers, where they don't show up written on things even elevators for floors. Because 4 can be said as shi (though there are two ways to say 4 in Japanese) and shi also means death. Also it looks similar in character. So other cultures also avoid it I believe, and for the same reason. So many interesting things in other cultures. ^__^

"I might learn a couple new tricks or ingredient combinations too." She agreed with a nod as she went in for another bite, savoring the mixture of certain vegetables with other ones. Upon inspection she wasn't even sure what one or two of them were - probably something she'd have to hunt out at an international market.
For a couple minutes she was mostly silent, enjoying the food and curiously watching him eat. She had decided for sure that she would definitely need to drag Azzo here at some point as well, knowing he'd order a lot of things and she could just pick and taste from this and that.
Finally after a little bit though she asked quietly. "Did you have any other questions?" Surely she'd forgotten something in her bare bones explanations earlier.Sleet Tempest Snape It is really cool how they incorporate all that stuff!

"Yes, we have many things, and techniques, I don't think you have here." He answered with a smile. If she liked to cook, or eat, she would discover many things with trying Korean food. He hadn't seen anything that was from home when traveling the rest of the city, nor had his sister or cousin. They'd had to have food made at home to bring into school with them, not wanting to try what looked fairly unhealthy to them at school.
Watching her eat, and noting she was watching him, he dipped one of the mandu he had before offering it to her to try. "What do you think I should know?" He questioned her. Was there anything she thought was important, something he as a civilian needed to know. "To be safe." The mandu he had in his chopsticks, and had dipped, was a fried one as it was his personal favorite in part due to the crunch of the mandu. "Try this."

She listened with soft interest as he spoke, nodding at the mention of techniques. Some she would be able to figure out just from eating and inspecting she thought, but there were likely plenty that were hidden away in the kitchen, special little tricks that only watching it be prepared would reveal. Regardless the flavors were interesting and what she could glean just from the dishes could be unique and exciting.
The offer of food was met with a soft nod and appreciative smile. It seemed like a dumpling of sorts, only the exterior looked different then any dumplings she'd ever had. Just how different it was was evident when she actually bit into it, the crispy crunch of it's exterior both delicious and pleasing in texture.
"That's very good too, thank you." She commented with an enthusiastic nod after she had finished chewing.
Returning to her own food, she took a few more bites of her food as she thought over his words. What did she think he should know? That was a hard question. There was near a novel's worth of information she'd gleaned over the years as a senshi. Most, while interesting, probably wouldn't do anything more than confuse the young man though. It was mostly stuff he didn't need to know.. unless of course he ended up one day doning a uniform of his own.
Leaning in she answered him finally quietly. "Be very cautious when at big gatherings. Festivals, holiday gatherings, and other places where many people gather together in large groups tend to be targets. I'm not saying you shouldn't go to them. Just make sure you keep an eye out for anything that looks suspicious."
"Better to be overly cautious then have them sneak up on you."
"Also be careful who you mention these things to. You should try not to talk about senshi or negaverse or youma in public or with strangers. One of them could be an agent in disguise and they might assume you are an enemy if you're speaking openly about it." Sleet Tempest Snape The openness kind of threw me for a loop, but here you are finally. heart We can work towards a close soon if you'd like?

While they ate and she filled him on on the things he needed to know, he would make sure to be cautious at big events, he couldn't help but wonder what it must be like to be involved in such a life. To be fighting a war against an enemy that wasn't so easy to identify, as they did like she did and changed clothing, you never knew if your best friend was also an enemy of yours. That had to bother some and keep them up at night, he knew it would bother him.
But beyond that the holidays and gatherings...was there no way to have fun and let your guard down? he'd have to keep his guard up at anything his family went to, since he knew about all of this. He had made up his mind. He wouldn't tell them, at least nothing beyond keeping safe and carrying some protection on themselves, but he would watch them at any events they may go to. He wouldn't have his sister and cousin scared and he wouldn't burden his parents or make his father feel guilt for coming here.
He could only hope that no one in his family was touched by this war, aside from his run in tonight. he would do his best but he knew there was only so much he could do.
When the meal finally did come to an end he paid for it and stood, offering the white haired female a hand up. "Thank you again, you are very kind. I would like to be friends." He spoke his English accented heavily but he was sincere. he wanted a friend in this city and she was one of the few people he'd met thus far and she was kind and helpful, knowledgeable. He liked her personality.

It was a stressful life, but one you became used to eventually as time passed. At least, one you learned to live with - though she hoped he wouldn't ever have to, other than his unlucky experience this evening.
The offered hand was taken as she moved to slowly stand up, arranging all her dishes and silverware together in one easy to carry pile out of habit before she followed him towards the door to her shoes. "Of course." She nodded enthusiastically to his offer of friendship. "I can give you my phone number and we can get together again sometime." Voice dropping a little, she added. "Or if you ever have an emergency."
Numbers exchanged, Aurora offered one last thankful glance as they stood at the front door ready to head off before it got too late. "It was wonderful to meet you Seung even despite the circumstances. Hopefully next time it will just be over wonderful food again."Sleet Tempest Snape Fin unless you wanted to make another post of your own. heart
