If she'd splashed another, it was lost in response to the sudden shock of another's body slamming into her own, sending her toppling face-forward into the mud. Sitting up, she blew sediment out her nostrils and attempted to wipe her face free of it, hair caked down with it and dripping. Her eyes teared up not due to the pain of the tackle, but from the stinging of unwanted debris stubbornly refusing to leave them.

Once situated again, she glared back at the one who'd run into her. "Oi, what's with the whole excessive force thing?" Puffing out her cheek, she tried to get her hair out of her face before it dried there. "No need to get so hyped up and aggressive just over a silly little competition; calm down a bit, would'ya?" These overly-competitive types always seemed to be too much for a laid-back fauness like Amity and could hit a special sort of nerve.

Especially when they seemed to be a sort of familiar that she couldn't quite place.

Iris Topaz moved out of the way and pushed Dash down into the mud as she passed her. She was carfull not to hurt the other faunys wings since she figured they would hurt if she put pressure on them. She was surprised that she was stronger than the sporty fauny. Maybe her guess was right that wings were a disadvantage.

Well that was until she saw the yellow Pegasus out of the corner of her her eye that was slipping and sliding every were hitting people. Getting back her footing only to lose it and fall back into the mud.

Iris Topaz laughed judging someones straight based on how strong they were in this slippery mud. It was not about strength but about agility. She turned back to Dash

Mud covered the bright orange faun, clumping and dripping all over her body and hair. She regained herself after shoving the green faun into the mud, then braced herself for impact from any of the other furry bodies in the pit.

At Amity's comment, Amadorine simply raised an eyebrow. "The more you want something, the harder you play. Some of us don't see this as a 'silly little competition' and are going to give this our best."
Granted, she was working hard to prove herself worthy of her being called to this for a second time. She wasn't sure how she felt about the Chieftain being the 'prize', but if this was the will of Laisidhiel she was sure as hell not going to argue.

"Now, are we going to do this, or do I need to crash into someone else?"

A menacing surge of mud snaked its way between the contestants, capped by a pair of curving, leafy faun antlers. They pointed this way and that, as though sensing their quarry, and slowly stalking it.

Kilot wasn't exactly sure how he'd gotten to this point. Somehow, after a night of drinking, after coming in from a patrol, and an early morning of drinking after coming in from a night of drinking, he'd found himself volunteered for a challenge or competition of some sort. Oh yes, and Chieftain Rais was somehow involved.

All he knew was that he was now surrounded with lovely ladies who were wrestling in mud. Life was good.

As the stocky faun dragged himself around in the sodden earth, his shoulders brushed the odd female hoof, or a lovely calf here or there. Although the mud wasn't deep enough to really swim in, his rich, dark fur blended with it well enough to be almost indistinguishable.

When he finally took breath, Kilot allowed his head to rise above the muck, and as his ice-blue eyes opened they formed a striking contrast to the sea of red-brown around him while he took in the scenery. There was the blue pegasus, with her toned, athletic body and energetic personality. Not far away was Mona, he knew of her already. What truly caught his attention however was the comely brown faun who was straddling an opposing fauny, one shapely leg planted either side of her prey, firmly trapping the other female under her hips.

Oh life was GOOD.

Well. It seemed that a temporary alliance would have to be in order. With a roar he'd once used to intimidate a wild boar he'd wrestled (<- canon) the hunter-turned-warrior burst from the mud, leaping to his feet and lunging forward to engage in some... jolly cooperation. He reached out with his hands, preparing to grab his quarry.

...Only he didn't. Some yellow pegasus stumbled into his path and instead of a pair of brown breasts he found himself with a couple handfuls of yellow rear end, centred around a long, pink tail. Not that this was necessarily a worse situation.

Kilot was also becoming acutely aware that when he stood, he had been under another competitor who was for all intents and purposes now decorating his head and shoulders, lifted from her feet and now awkwardly positioned atop him.

Well, she was about to start wrestling one of the girls, but others started jumping in and getting in between them.... almost literally for some of them.

Shielding her face a moment from a faunie inflicting a cannonball splash on the rest of them. Mona couldn't help but chuckle a little bit. Well... it started to seem like she was not alone in the tomboy scheme of things.

Her ear twitched to a near whisper of her nick-name, 'M-m-mo?!' and she blinked, turning to look at another faunie who seemed... embarassed to look at her? Slightly confused, she did say her name...

"Yeah? Need somethin'?"
she asked, tilting her head and shifting her hooves in the mud to steady herself as someone else bumped into her.

She then blinked again. "Oh, wait!" Her dim bulb brightened then and she shook her hands in front of her in defense. "Oh nonono! I mean. Yes, you can call me Mo if you want, but I'm Mona. I'm Mo's sister." She smiled sheepishly and rubbed the back of her neck, smearing mud in the process.

She saw the other start to stumble and lunged forward. "Oh! Careful!" she offered, stepping a little closer to the yellow faunie. "Try keeping her hooves shoulder-width apart and bend your knees a little. It'll help you keep your balance better in this stuff." She offered a sweet smile before unceremoniously getting splashed with mud against the side of her face.

Fluttershy heard her name being called, about a second too late, followed by a hard thud against the back of her head. Letting out a tearful short cry, Fluttershy grabbed the back of her head as a wad of mud fell with a splat into the mud around her hips.

Rubbing the back of her head, tears welling up in her eyes, Fluttershy scanned the crazy scene for the source of the voice. It was familiar and yet at the same time...slightly different? Of course when the yellow pegasus spotted that unmistakable large pink bow a soft smile came over her lips....and then panic. "Apple Bloom!" she cried for about as loud as Fluttershy could. She had forgotten that the filly had grown in to a lovely lady. She didn't see much of her Apple friends anymore...nor Rarity either since her and Big Mac became a thing. It was easy to forget the youngins weren't really youngins anymore.

But what in Equestria...Telrunya... was she doing here? "Were you summoned too?!" she asked over the chaos, trying to inch forward towards Apple Bloom when the Mo girl realized she was being talked too. Fluttershy had to skid herself to a halt to keep from crashing into Mo..na. Though the yellow pegasus seemed to be more embarrassed than the other was. "S-s-sister? I didn't kn---OOH!" she wibbled, throwing her arms out straight to steady herself.

"O-o-hkay. I'll t-t-ry.." she nodded, taking the wild faun's advice and pushed her hooves shoulder-width apart. Which only made her wobble more because she couldn't actually SEE HER HOOVES!!! In sheer panic, Fluttershy reached out and grabbed a hold of Mona's arm, clenching it tightly. In her efforts to stable herself, Fluttershy only managed to spin herself around, still gripping hold of Mona, and flinging her around with her.

In sheer panic and unthinking, Fluttershy let go to gasp extremely and bring her hands to her face.

Which only made things worse as she realized that she just sent Mona launching Apple Bloom's direction.

"OH I'M SO SORRY! SO SO SORRY!"

Amity couldn't hold back a smirk at Amadorine's comment. Letting her hands fall to her lap, she cocked her head. "You actually think that doing well in a few games in a short amount of time can be sufficient proof of your qualifications and compatibility to be with somefaun? That's just absurd."

"Besides, didn't something like this happen before to pick his ex-wife? If it failed the first time, what makes you think the second time will have a different result? Do you really think your're so special?"

Without sitting up, she waved her hand in front of her, almost making a shooing motion. "I don't believe in any of that nonsense. I'm here to enjoy myself and see what interesting things happen, not waste my energy on a pointless and competition for a forced relationship. I'm all for a friendly wrestling match, but if you're going to continue to be such a killjoy, go ruin someone else's time please."

"Trust me..." Mona started with a chuckle. "It was news to me, too. We crossed paths during the explosion and discovered it then and there. Haven't had much of a chance to talk since then though..." Mona half frowned at that thought. "Hey!~ You're getting it alri-ACK!"

Well... She was getting it... until an unseen force seemed to wobble Fluttershy and encourage her to fling Mona at a younger-ish looking faunie. Oh dear...

Rainbow Dash frowned, she wasn't as fast now that she was heavy with mud. Especially with mud on her wings, she was not at her best. The push caused Dash to slip and fall back into the mud. No harm... except to her pride. Rainbow Dash couldn't help but laugh as the crystal fauny joined her in the mud. Now that she had essentially jeopardized herself with the cannonball, there was no point in being competitive, at least for this challenge. She would make it up later.

Now, she could just focus on the fun."Think fast!" Rainbow shouted as she flung a mud-ball at the crystal fauny's hair. She grinned and threw a few more globs of mud across the pit for good measure.

User Image The first rays of morning sun glistening on the dew-covered leaves in the berry patch just over the bridge. Kishi took a moment to watch a butterfly flit about and land on a ripe raspberry.

Woooosh!!

The pink faun spun around and her net flew down over the little blue butterfly. "Not today, buddy," she chastised her prisoner. Early each morning, Kishi would catch the blue butterflies and move them over towards the blueberry patch, away from the raspberries. While it was not scientifically proven, she fully believed it kept the red berries from becoming purple berries. Purple berries had their own patch!

Kishi's ear twitched and she looked towards the Tree. That little tingly, the still small voice in her head whispered that she needed come inside. Attention diverted, the blue butterfly was stuck in her net as she picked up her berry basket full of raspberries and hitched her net to belt. It was still too early for breakfast, but she'd bring what she gathered already anyway.

Inside, a handful of faun gathered around the dais, looking as confused as Kishi did. She was about to ask what happened when Kree started speaking. Kishi was less afraid of his mellon, than him, but when Rais came out on the stage, Kishi froze. Like a deer in headlights. She dropped her basket of raspberries, spilling them all over the meeting floor.

Not again!!!?

NO! NOT AGAIN!

D8

She'd barely made it out unscathed last time. Damn you, Belvah.

This wasn't happening again, it couldn't happen again. She'd find a way out of this, dangit. She kept her eyes and ears open for opportunity, but when she was lead out to the mud pit, she was confused. This wasn't like last time. Was this even real? She stood on the edge of the mud pit, considering just ducking away and letting the others go at it when she slipped. She tried to catch herself, but gravity won and she fell backwards into the mud among the chaos of faun duking it out for Rais' entertainment.

Worst day ever. Okay, second worst day ever.

"You're here because Laisidhiel called you, just like the rest of us here. It's an honor. That's why I will do my best." Ama wondered if this was what she'd been like during the first time. Had she really been this much of a selfish, clueless git? She suppose she really had been, hadn't valued the culture she'd inherited from the tree.

With a shake of her head, she gave Amity a pitying look and turned back to the competition. She wondered if the other female would have any regrets about her participation for this competition later. She hoped not... regrets sucked. She would know.

Applebloom cackled when her mudball smacked into Fluttershy. "BULL'S EYE!" she shouted and jumped around in the mud. While she was dancing, however, Fluttershy was flinging another Faun at her. Squealing in surprise as she tried to stop or at least slow the other Faun's progress, Applebloom's arms ended up wrapping around the other girl and falling backward into the mud. "Aww, man! Now my bow's all muddy," she drawled, but there was laughter in her voice. "Hiya! I'm Applebloom," she grinned. "Nice to meet ya!" She snickered and picked up two giant handful of mud to glop into the Faun's hair. "Now we match!"

Day 2 Prompt

There had been some hesitancy at first, then it seemed the floodgates had opened, faunnesses rushing forward, splashing and flinging mud in all directions. Rais snorted softly with what may have been amusement. It seemed that even after all they had been through, there were those who could still toss aside their worries, at least for a while, to behave like children again. It was a welcome distraction from his lingering irritation, perhaps a blessing and a reminder from Laisidhiel herself. Here was life. Energy. Strength. The movement of muddy forms, locked in competition, twisting, turning, jostling...

Hmm, warm out here today.

Turning towards his hovering Mellon with a frown, he did not miss the knowing smirk she quickly tried to hide. "Really now? Is this necessary? Tell me, was it your idea or hers?" He paused, holding up a hand before the Mellon could speak. "No, don't tell me. You don't have to." He sighed, shaking his head.

The Mellon crossed her arms, making a face at the Faun Chieftain. "Well, you weren't going to take action, so someone had to!" Zipping closer, she offered a parting quip that left the Chief staring after her with no response ready as she buzzed away towards the mud pit.

"You do realize they're all basically fighting over you, right?"

Clapping her hands over the din, Krikit attempted to raise her voice over the shouting, wrestling Faun, but there was simply no way she could make herself heard over such noise. She huffed, stomping her foot ineffectually in mid-air in frustration. She was just pondering what to do to stop the chaos when a shrill, short whistle split the air. She blinked, looking back in surprise at Rais who only lifted a brow, then smirked slightly.

Hmmph.

"Ahem...ladies and gentlefaun! That's enough for now! If you would kindly follow me, we'll go back inside for our next challenge. But first, a stop at the bathing fountains to clean up!"

The little Mellon led the group back towards the Tree after they each had a chance to extract themselves from the pit. They were ushered towards the bathing fountains and instructed to clean up while Krikit would pull each of them aside in turn. One by one, each Faun was pulled aside by the Mellon to be asked a question. She acted as their interviewer, but each time, Chieftain Rais was always standing nearby, listening attentively to their answer.

"A hypothetical situation: You have casually observed a certain Faun, one who joins the community for the evening meal each day, taking their share of the community stores, what supplies they need from our shared stock. However, no one seems to know just what it is that this individual does each day. They are never seen until the evening meal. In time, you learn just what has been occupying their time. They have cultivated a private crop of delicious strawberries! However, they harvest the entire bounty solely for their own use, and yet continue taking from the community while giving nothing back in return. What do you do?"

***

Simple one this time! Post your response to Krikit (and Rais). Otherwise, you may mingle with the others while getting cleaned up from the first challenge.

Midnight Strike couldn't help but over hear two of the fauness figuratively throw mud at each other. Geez some of the others were really serious about this weren't they and it was bringing the worst out of them. She shook her head to herself, acting like that wasn't going to get any attention.

The mellon spoke up to signal the end. Really? Over already? Really, it was like the point was just to get them dirty or something. The bathing fountains would be nice though, the mud was starting to dry on her fur. She playfully pushed Kyrie off before standing up and offering a hand up, "Come on, cleanliness is waiting for us."

She didn't get that far before being pulled over for the interview. Really? She was still dirty and the Chieftain was watching. Not only that but the question sounded like one of the life lessons she gave the twins. "Well, the first option would be to speak to them, but not alone. Bring someone along just in case they become violent. Try to explain that they should share their bounties with the community that has given so much to them and if...If they refuse, become violent or what not, inform the proper authorities." She sounded so much like a mom that she was starting to embarrass herself. "It's hard to force anyone to do anything against their will after all, no matter what they are doing.Yelling and screaming won't help, it could make it worst...You need to take it one step at a time as the event happens and keep it fair and safe..." She felt like she was reading a script or something to the twins. "I'm...I'm going to go get clean now pardon me." Midnight hurried off to rejoin the group, fully embarrassed. At this point she just wanted to get clean, grab her mask, go get the twins and hide for the rest of the day.

Mona giggled a little and sighed after having been caught. "A pleasure to meet you too, Applebloom! Call me Mona." she grinned then giggled some more as she stood and steadied herself.

It was at that moment that the Mellon began summoning them back out of the pit. She let out an internal sigh of relief and offered her hand to Applebloom. "C'mon then. Let's go get your yellow friend. Fluttershy, was it?" she asked, having recalled the name being shouted moments before. She turned her attention to Fluttershy just in time to see Kilot rise and grope at his prize. "HEY!" she half-growled and moved as quickly forward as she could. "This is Not! how you mud wrestle..." she swatted at Kilot's hands a bit.

(*leaving this bit open for a response between Flutters, AB and Kilot*)

Feeling a little refreshed from the bathing fountains, Mona blinked as she was pulled aside and asked the hypothetical question.

"Uh... Hmm..." she tapped her chin a moment. "Well, given that they only join the community for the evening meal, it can be assumed that they live outside the tree. That being said, there's the possibility that they work really hard to keep the crop growing and don't get any help from any of the others, therefore they don't see a reason to share their bounty. It would be wise to calmly approach the faun, ask them why they keep the crop themselves. Offer them aid in tending to the crop in exchange for a small portion of the crop be given back to the community." She shrugged a bit. "After that, it would really depend on the actions and or reactions of the faun before I could determine a proper line of action or a proper response."

With her peace said, she bowed her head a bit. Her gold eyes flashed to Rais briefly to which she bowed her head to him as well, then promptly scurried off to where the Mellon wanted them to gather next before any sort of a blush could be detected.
