Jezebeth nodded her little head when Mr. Corben asked her if being outside was a great place to be. She loved the outdoors, no matter what weather was going on out there. In her opinion, so long as you dressed accordingly, the outdoors were simply the best place to be. She often spent her time outside, even if she was just reading a book or writing a paper for class. She found being outside to be inspiring.
She watched Corben draw a circle around the little sapling. Once he moved aside she motioned for Enoukn to start one one side of the circle and then she carefully dug her shovel into the other side. The ground was surprisingly easy to break through and she continued to work as she talked to Mr. Corban.
"Being a park ranger sounds like a lot of fun! Not only would we get time with the trees, but we could protect animals too!" She hadn't considered that particular outdoors job before, but it did sound like fun!

Enoukn likewise enjoyed spending time outdoors. Truth be told, he spent as much time as he could with Jezebeth - so when they weren't inside (usually her dorm) reading, they were outside reading or playing or whatever it was they were doing that day. Though - lately he'd been in the library reading everything he could get his hands on. He had not thought about becoming a park ranger but it seemed like a great job! "It does sound really fun!" He said in agreement with Jezzie, before he too took his shovel to the earth. He was very careful as he began to dig on his side of the circle, not wanting to hurt the tree's roots as he dug out the sapling. As he dug - his mind wandered to being a park ranger - and he wondered if it would require him to do things like this? Though - he also thought about helping animals and that made him happy too. There was so much he'd need to learn though - before he could even think about becoming a park ranger.

Corben assisted with some of the more careful digging, eventually getting his shovel up under the little sapling. "Yep, that's it exactly. Allllright, I'm gonna pull this lil'fella up now." He nodded, then started to carefully push down on the end of his shovel. A few small snapping sounds came from the tree. "Ah- a few roots are bound to break off but it'll be alright, most of them are perfectly undamaged, after all!" He nodded, then carefully reached down to pick the sapling up, and then set it into the wheelbarrow.
"Okay kids, load up the shovels, we're headed back to the new home! We'll come back in a bit and fill that hole in." He nodded, then started off, shovel in one hand, wheelbarrow handle in the other.

Jezebeth was a little concerned at first when she heard the snaps coming from under the little sapling. Corben was quick to reassure her that it wasn't something to worry about however. It made sense that the roots spread so much that it would be nearly impossible for them to unbury the whole tree safely. Once it found it's new home surely it would make up for the loss.
She watched him carefully lift the tree and place it into the wheelbarrow than she happily trotted along beside him as they made their way back to the tree's new home. "I can't believe we actually did it! We moved our tree Eno!" Her little wings fluttered happily behind her as she started to skip along the way. They still had to fix the hole they made in the courtyard, but that could be dealt with later!

Enoukn visibly winced as he heard the roots snap and crack, and almost begged Mr. Corben to stop - but before the words could come out of his mouth (though the poor freshling was near tears, the poor tree!) the sapling was already out of the ground and being gently placed in the wheelbarrow. The teacher's reassurances did little to quell his fears though. Still, he picked up the shovels all the same and started back after the other two. His worry was slightly pushed aside with how excited Jezzie was. He gave her a small joyful smile. "We did! We did move our tree!" It was hard to be upset with her around, and she was so happy that they have moved the tree. Mr. Corben had said that the tree was fine - so he could probably trust the adult to be right about that. ... Still - maybe, he should come and check up on it later... Just in case...

Corben admittedly felt a little bad that he'd had to break some of the roots, but, ah well... It was part of moving a sapling this size. He watched as the two little freshlings moved on ahead, pleased they were so happy about rescuing it... Although, Enoukn seemed upset. Probably over the roots. He'd just have to assure him he could come by and check on it whenever he was free.
Once back to the spot, he set the wheelbarrow aside gently. "Okay kids, we need to dig a hole that's a little deeper than the one we pulled the tree out of. I'm gonna grab some fertilizer to add so it has extra nutrients to feed off of in its new home. Can you two get started while I fetch that?" He waited for their response, not wanting to leave them if they weren't comfortable, even though the storage barn wasn't that far away.

Jezebeth could tell that Eno was a little bit worried about their tree, but Mr. Corben had said it was okay, so it would surely be okay! Besides, they could come and check on it whenever they wanted to! They'd be there to make sure nothing happened to the little sapling. She gave Eno's free hand a little squeeze when they stopped back at where they'd be planting their tree.
"Okie dokie, Mr. Corben!" She set to work digging a hole the same size as the one they had dug their little tree out of. It was tiring work, sure she was used to running around and such. However, working her arms like this was new to her. It was fun though! She could enjoy working with trees like this for a living honestly.

The hand squeeze from Jezzie helped Enoukn relax a bit more and with a nod he moved quickly to help Jezebeth dig a new home for their tree. The fact that it had to be a bit deeper than the other one left Enoukn having to put a lot more effort into digging, which he wasn't going to lie was a lot more tiring than just playing. Still he had a lot of energy, so it wasn't too big a deal to work on digging the hole that Mr. Corben had asked for. Hopefully their tree would like its new home.

While they set to work, Corben skipped off to his storage barn to grab a bag of fertilizer. With that in arms, he waddled on back with the heavy bag and then set it next to the hole they were digging. "Okay! Almost there!" He grinned, then grabbed his shovel to hep with the last bit... Once that was done, he set it aside with a sigh and rubbed an arm over his forehead. "Hoooo... This is hard work, huh? Haha but it's time to put it in now. First, we put some fertilizer at the bottom so the roots have plenty of nutrients to latch onto. That'll help it regrow the ones we had to break." He nodded, then puuuuulled the bag over and opened up the top. "You can help me with this part, too! Just enough to layer the bottom of the hole." He nodded, then grabbed a few handfuls to toss into the hole.
He waited for them to assist, figuring they would appreciate some hand in giving the tree the food it would need... Once the layering looked well enough, he reached over to pick up the sapling. "Okay! Time to put it in. Then we're gonna push all that dirt we dug up back into the hole, but don't pack it too tightly. It's good to let it have some air." He nodded, then settled it into the hole and stood back for them to re-bury it.
[i hope you don't mind me speeding things along a bit here. ; D i figure y'all will want this for growth reqs!]

"It's worth it though!" Came Jezebeth's reply to this being hard work. To move their tree and know that it would grow up to be nice and healthy, was totally rewarding. She hoped that in the future she could continue to help out plants and animals in their natural environments. She set aside her shovel for just a moment to help throw some of the fertilizer into the hole that they had dug up. She didn't mind at all that her hands were getting dirty, though she did role up her sleeves so they would be spared the mess.
"Okaaay~" She picked her shovel back up to replace the sooil around the tree they had dug up. It didn't take long before the tree was buried again and had a nice new little home. She couldn't help but think it looked happier to have moved! It wasn't being over run by that big ole' tree anymore! It had it's own space, twilight, and water to soak up into it's root now!
"We just need to fix the other hole we made now right?"

Enoukn nodded in agreement to Mr. Corben's statement. It was worth it to move their tree to a new home. When Mr. Corben told them to help add fertilizer, Enoukn quickly went to work, not even worrying about his sleeves at this point. He'd probably need a bath and his clothes a good washing when it was all said and done - but he wasn't worried about it. Their tree took first priority. Once they were done, with the fertilzier he moved to pick up the shovel again and helped to fill in the hole with the tree inside. Then nodded in Jezzies direction. She was right! They needed to fill in the whole. "We don't want someone to find it and trip and hurt themselves - right?"

Once everything was packed in again, Corben nodded in approval. "Yep! You see how we have some extra dirt left over? let's take that over to the other hole." He nodded, then shoveled the rest of it into the wheelbarrow. Once it was settled, he then lifted the bag of fertilizer into it as well before starting off. "Since it isn't enough to fill the hole we'll just add some fertilizer in, too. Then who knows what'll sprout up there! Haha!"
Once there, he stopped to remove the fertilizer, and then carefully dumped the dirt into the hole. He then opened up the fertilizer again to fill in the rest of it. "Okay! We're done, I should think." Nodded as he clapped his hands together to rid them of the extra dirt. "Now over the next few weeks just come on by to check on the tree, okay? I'm sure it'll grow up nice and strong." He grinned down to the two of them. "Any other concerns~?"

Jezebeth put away her shovel, since it didn't seem like they'd be needing it to fill in the hole left behind from digging up their sapling. She took Enoukn's hand and followed along after Corben as he pushed the wheelbarrow full of dirt and fertilizer back to where they had all started out earlier that day. She was trying not to show it took much, but she was pretty tired from all that work. Something she was sure she'd have to get used to in time, if she wanted to do this for a living. And she most certainly did!
"I hope a pretty flower could bloom there!" It would just be perfect if a little flower could mark the spot where their tree had originally been. She watched Corben fill up the hole rather quickly, it didn't require quite as much finesse as replanting their tree had required. Jezebeth clapped her hands as well, but more as a congrats for what they had accomplished that day.
"I don't think I have any more concerns! If something happens to our tree we can just come to you again! Thank you so much Mr. Corben! We'll be sure to keep you up to date!" With that out of the way, she really wanted to take a bath. Then after that she could get some dinner with Enoukn in the cafeteria, then maybe come back outside if it wasn't too late and read to their tree.

Enoukn followed suite and put away the shovel once it appeared it would no longer be needed. He moved with Jezebeth back to the other place and helped Mr. Corben as best he could with anything else that needed to be done. Much like Jezzie - he was tired, and it was starting to show. He wiped his face with an arm and looked up at Mr. Corben as he talked. He nodded an agreement in Jezzie's direction about the flower. That would be rather nice. He'd have to come and check up on both areas in the hope that such a thing did happen - and that their tree remained healthy. After all, you never knew what could happen! He made a note to look up all sorts of things involving trees and animals. If he was going to do stuff like this in the future - he needed to know as much as he could. When Mr. Corben asked if they had any concerns he shook his head slowly. "Aside from what I should look for when checking up on our tree, I don't have any other questions, Mr. Corben." A bath and dinner were also on Enoukn's mind - he was starting to get a little worn thin.

"You never know, one could spring up!" He laughed and nodded, in reference to Jezebeth's comment. He was admittedly feeling a bit tired himself after all that, a snack would do him some well. And by the looks of it, the two little freshlings could use some food and a bath, too.
"Well, you just keep an eye out for if it starts to droop, or most of the leaves start to turn brown. But I'll be keeping an eye on it as well." He grinned, then reached over to grab their shovels to pile into the wheelbarrow. "Allllrighty, with this finished, that means we're done! Good work, you two. You are free to go wash up and head to dinner, I'm sure you're quite hungry!" He laughed, then lifted his handles on the wheelbarrow. "I'm gonna do the same. Have a good night, you two. Come find me if you need anything else, alright?" He waved a bit, then headed on back to the shed to put his supplies away.
[aaaand we're done!]
