Scott nods his head. "I guess the building wasn't meant to withstand a stampede of panicked teachers, students, and undead..."
Pausing when his mop hits nothing but air in front of him, Scott frowns and maneuvers the cleaning tool around to see just how large this hole was. "Hmm..." The male taps his makeshift cane against the edge of the hole, going over in his head what was left of their supplies. He grabs the box of three bells and sets it inside, laying one of the pieces of wood across it, then tentatively settling his foot down on his newly made bridge. When the box and the wood holds, he gives a smirk.
He crosses the small trench, then turns 'round and waits for Matilda to do the same. "The added bonus of this bridge is that the zombies aren't nearly as coordinated to cross it without falling."

"Heh, let us hope it doesn't come to that," Matilda laughed in hopes that they weren't jinxing themselves. Pushing the cart across the board and box.
Seeing one of the windows was scratched up to the point of being opaque, Matilda dug out the windex bottle and sprayed down the window. Leaving it on for a few seconds, she used one of the towels to wipe it down before putting it back in the pile.
"Now we can see anything that's coming for us from this window," she stated, admiring the pristine shine. Then she had a moment of regret as she belatedly remembered that her companion couldn't see. "I apologize, that comment was in bad taste," the woman groaned, her hand on her forehead.

Scott chuckles. "Don't worry about it. I'm still hopeful that my vision will return so I haven't gotten too mopey yet. Well, save for when it first happened anyway..."
His foot catches in something sticky and the youth frowns when he can't continue forward. He turns his sightless eyes in Matilda's direction. "Pass me the bleach, would ya? And careful not to step in this... well, whatever it is."
Once his hand makes contact with the bottle, he unscrews the cap and pours the bleach onto the area around his foot. Slowly, he manages to tug his shoe loose... then he grabs a rag and begins the process of cleaning up the sticky muck. Once done, he rolls his shoulders and runs a hand through his dark hair.
"Safety hazard has been dealt with. Let's keep a'goin. I'm real hungry now, I wanna see if I can go scavenge up some food after this..."

"If you say so, " Matilda replied in uncertainty. She began rifling through the bag at the boy's request "Of course," she handed out the bleach and watched him mop up the leftovers of a moldy... food item of some sort. He must have been glad he couldn't see it, considering how repulsive it was.
Spotting another slightly broken window, Matilda took one of the towels and dug the corners into the broken edges. "One more window... fixed," she commented, thought she heavily debated the fixed status.

"This window next to it is broken as well..." Scott grabs the final- rather greasy- towel and does the same to the window that Matilda had; carefully tucking the corners into the broken shards so that it was held in place. Like Matilda, he wasn't sure whether it or not it was truly fixed... but at least it would keep out the rain.

"Someone must have really hated these windows, eh?" Scott grabs another of their garbage bags, tying it off to the broken panes of the window and pushing his palm against it to test its strength. When it holds, he wipes the sweat from his brow and turns towards Matilda. "So, what was it that you taught?"

"Either that, or people were in so much of a panic that they weren't paying attention to what they were doing...," Matilda added with a sobering expression.
As they rounded a corner, the woman found a hole in the wall. Pulling out the last piece of wood, Matilda pulled out the hammer and nails from their tools and put four nails into the board. "Not very pretty, but at least no one will fall into the hole in the wall."

Scott frowns when his mop comes into contact with a large gap in the floor. "What is it that we've got left now? This mop and a... garbage bag, right?" He ruffles a hand through his hair, contemplating just what they could do in order to fill the gap. "I guess we could turn this into a booby trap, huh?" Carefully, he lowers himself down into the hole and breaks the mop into a couple pieces. Setting them down so that the jagged sides were facing up, he grabbed the last of their nails and hammered the wooden shards in place. When done, he pulls himself out of the hole and rips the trash bag so it was a large square just big enough to fit over the hole. He hammers the corners down, and grabs a piece of glass from the nearby broken windows. He etches into the ground a large, prominent arrow pointing towards the covered up hole, then carves the words TRAP DONT CROSS beneath it.
Once done, he brushes the dirt from his hands and places his fists triumphantly on his hips. "There. We're done now, right?"

"That looks to be all the materials we have, so I would say this is a job well done," Matilda confirmed as she peered into the now-empty cart.
Walking with Scott back to the main meeting area to turn in the tools they borrowed, the teacher had to admit that the task hadn't been as difficult to get through as she thought it would. In a way, it was actually quite enjoyable.
"It was a pleasure working with you," she smiled as the janitor's cart got wheeled into a corner, "It's always nice to be able to talk to someone while completing a task. Conversation makes time go buy much faster."
