Peter twisted the wire, willing the connection to return. The muffled voice was back at least, if only the reception was better....

The voice eventually faded into static, and the man was sweating in anticipation as he waited in prayer.

"Hello?" he tried again, and the muffled voice intensified as if in response.

Something miraculously clicked, and he could finally hear the person loud and clear.
"- supplies shipped in daily. We try to do it from the air but we don't have many choppers left. They will dwindle after a while. --- seven days --- then ----"
Peter's eyes widened as he listened in, then whipped his head around at a sudden BANG that went off below. The man tried to talk through the line, but it had long been cut off. There was something going on down below the radio tower, and he didn't have time left.
Hurrying out of the door, Peter repeated the words he heard to himself as he snuck out of the facility, with something to share once he got back.
