The undying was very strong. It was taking most of Liam's strength just to keep it at bay, which left very little chance to actually do anything about it. HP: 42 DMG: -

They had their own problems to worry about, just now -- which meant that finally Austin could focus on the problem in front of him, expression sharpening. Quickly, he shot a foot out to kick the monster in the face, stopping its scrabbling attacks and leaving it looking -- a bit worse for wear.
Not down for the count, yet, but certainly down, hauling itself toward him.
One hand slid to to the undying's neck, and finally Liam got the leverage he needed to push those snapping teeth out of his face. With distance came room to maneuver, and the soccer player managed to pull his uninjured leg up between them to press his foot to his stomach, shoving it off him with a rough kick.
He wasn't entirely sure if the ground shaking was real, or maybe just in his head. At this point both seemed equally as likely.

It was almost to its feet, when the ground shook: setting both Austin and his opponent off balance, but only one of them went down. Austin was left standing, though, which meant he could bring his foot down into the creature's face again, hard and angry --
And beneath him, it dissipated, leaving him only with the required arm. He puffed out a breath, just a little shaky, looking around to see how the others were faring.
The kick was only a temporary help. With Liam's leg in the state it was in, getting up quickly just wasn't an option, and the shambling undying was on him again before he had managed to get his footing, knocking him back against the pavement.

With his creature out of the running Austin stepped in to strike at the bigger one, instead -- hand balled into a fist as he swung -- and it lunged at Liam, instead. He missed.
He saw Austin over the thing's shoulder, that meant both him and the woman had managed to take down the undying they'd been fighting. It meant the Calvary had arrived. It also meant Liam really sucked at defending himself against these things. He could have blamed his leg, and that certainly wasn't helping anything, but Austin was hurt too, and probably the woman as well.
He couldn't just let them save him. His pride wouldn't let him. With a an almost desperate sound he shoved at the undying again, forcing it off him even as it's spikes drove into his legs, and brought one up to kick at it's face this time, knocking it back.
It felt like something was watching them. Jane paused and peered around. only to be smacked in the face with spikes.

He wanted to be valiant but -- instead, as Austin swung for the thing again, his foot came down on a stone and he almost fell at the creature's feet. He drew in a sharp breath, struggling back up, but by then it had moved on.
He was still trying to scramble to his feet, and the effort was opening the wound on his leg again, staining the bandage wrapped around it a dark red. It hurt like a son-of-a-b***h. Made his head spin, but he managed to get himself upright with a distinct cry of pain before smashing the undying in an outstretched hand with a chunk of pavement he'd grabbed from the ground.

Austin was starting to flag a bit: the throbbing pain in his jaw combined with the cuts and bruises turning his motions slow and awkward. Still, at least this time he managed to nick the creature, and maybe it was starting to look nearly as poorly off.

From where Liam stood it was really hard to tell if the undying was taking much damage at all. It was still advancing on him, making him retreat backwards on a leg that protested with every agonizing step.
