She accepted both, stretching out to take them gladly. Cassie moved so she was sitting cross-legged in order to properly enjoy the meal without spilling it everywhere. The Fallen's head tilted to the side, hiding the question that sprung on her face. Aten. Why was that familiar? Oh. The poor Imp she had terrorized with her wings. She sipped on her drink, humming a little to herself. "Is that so?" the pink winged Fallen quipped, an eyebrow raising as she gave Smolder a glance. Cassie shook her head, a small smile replacing her stern look as she resumed her sipping.
"I never would have guessed," Cassie offered in a nearly perfect deadpan at his commentary about other Fallen, most of her expression still obscured by the cup. She couldn't hold it at all though, chuckling some and breaking her facade. "Sorry, not an appropriate time to be sassy," the Fallen apologized, leaning over the slightest to bump shoulders with Smolder. "It doesn't help there's not many of us of our age," Cassie agreed with a small sigh, stirring her soup for a moment where it sat warm in it's bowl against her thigh. "I get you though. I can't say I'm overflowing with friendships, let alone ones with Fallen," the girl murmured. Did she even have any Senior Fallen friends? Even Juniors? No. The only ones she had gotten a chance to interact with were Freshling.
Cassie watched Smolder's face for a long moment, her blue eyes soft. "You do have me," she echoed finally. Really, there was no reason for her not to associate with Smolder. Sure he was something else, but it wasn't bad. She dimpled the slightest as she put on an encouraging smile, moving to finally taste her soup. Cassie made a little pleased sound, holding the spoon between her teeth for a moment. "It's both rather good. Thank you."

Smolder sipped at his soup, trying not to slurp as he watched Cassie's face. A lot of thoughts were swirling and tumbling through his mind, one interrupting the next. Despite how aloof and non-nonchalant Smolder seemed all the time, his mind was deep and vast. And at that exact moment, he was paying close attention to the cues of Cassie's body. The subtle changes in expression, where the pauses started and stopped.
Smolder set his bowl down, resting it on his tight, stretching out his arm and offering his closed hand to her. Then, as if out of thin air, he held the fiery feather between pinched fingers, as if having performed a cheesy magic trick.
"A promise." he proposed. While true the Fallen traditionally presented feathers when they wanted to become 'official' with someone they were courting, he didn't want Cassie to panic. True, they had just met. He would not argue that with her. How could he? But this felt right in his heart. "To find our own flock. No matter the number, or the races involved. A promise to stay connected."
His expression was soft. Waiting. Perceptive and sweet as a smile spread smoothly across his face. The boy did have charm, no matter how deeply hidden it was. it was there, and in this moment, he presented it along with his feather to her, hoping she would accept it.

Cassie blinked, actually a bit startled. She had been zoning out some, enjoying Smolder's company for a brief moment while she nursed her soup. She set it properly down, blinking a few times deliberately. "Of course," she murmured, eyes focused on the feather. Cassie reached out for it and took it with gentle fingers, rolling it once between her fingers. Even if it was only a single, small feather, she had to satisfy her curiosity about his wings feeling different than hers. Was it like hair where everyone started out with a different natural texture?
She was getting off on a tangent but she quickly composed herself and quietly hoped he wouldn't ask of her stalling, holding the feather in the cup of her left hand as she spread a wing towards Smolder. It took a moment for her to find a feather she felt comfortable removing and in the end it was only slightly larger than what the fire-winged Fallen had presented her. She did the same to her feather as she had done to Smolder's, rolling it between two fingers before extending it out to him on her palm. It only felt right to return the gesture. It would have been rude not to, and she shushed away all the old cultural history she had memorized. Cassie put on a smile to match his, nodding. "That sounds like a grand idea," she assured.

Smolder completely ruined the moment by offering a characteristically goofball grin, his cheeks flushing a bright pink, rather bright against his dark skin. He accepted the equally pink feather from her. Even despite his need to express that his feather didn't mean exactly what the traditional customs meant, his mind had already jumped to conclusions when Cassie presented him with her feather. He said nothing, just continued to grin unabashedly.

Cassie watched Smolder for a moment, tilting her head the slightest in a question. As he offered nothing appropriate in response, she arched a brow higher than she had before. What, was her gesture that crazy? Now she was feeling sort of silly and the other Fallen was giving her absolutely nothing to work with. She sighed loudly, rolling her eyes as she set her drink and soup bowl off to the side on the blanket. "You're a dork," Cassie declared fondly as she reached over, removing his soup bowl from his lap in a quick motion and placing it off to the side near hers.
Without much other warning the Fallen scooted closer to Smolder, a hand sliding across his back. She practically yanked him down (a bit harder than she intended) towards the blanket as she leaned back with him. It was mostly a tactic to distract from her own red hot face - Smolder had been the one to make it worse, okay? Cassie snuggled just a bit closer to Smolder, turning to press her nose against his shoulder. "We have only a hour before we should go. I know my caretaker does early rounds to make sure we didn't pull an all nighter," she murmured, still hiding her face briefly.
Slowly she uncoiled, finding a comfortable way to lay on her back and admire the stars. Cassie blew out a breath, Smolder's feather still safe in her left fist.
Ember-babe I think this thread is finding it's end~? I think we can happily let it fade off in the middle somewhere.

Smolder's expression was one of shock as Cassie pulled him in, his heart beating so hard and so strong he could have sworn it was audible to her just as much as it was to him. It was almost all Smolder could hear. But he let Cassie drag him down, let her cuddle in to him, and he accepted the affection without complaint.
He peered down at her, trying to see her hidden face. His heart only quickened at the sight of the girl's pink little head and feathered ear, and he couldn't keep himself from placing a quick peck to her crown just as the girl rolled over, pressing his kiss harder to the top of her head than he had originally intended.
The fiery coloured fallen cleared his throat, letting her roll away to be more comfortable before slowly slipping his hand down to gently clasps fingers with hers, he too rolling on to his back, mindful of his wings. Smolder stared up at the stars, smiling with a far-off look, feeling rather dreamy and full of new found love and attraction. What a way to start a relationship ...
"Yeah, that's probably not a bad idea. But let's just enjoy the view while we have it. I'd like to make this moment last as long as possible ... "
