It was interesting, really, how something as horribly minuscule as a simple chat could have a deep effect on someone. Then again, Rohan should have been used to such things by now; over time he'd come to realize he was, in fact, not made of stone, and that people tended to have a deeper impact on him than he let on. His past was littered with examples, and most of his mistakes tended to come from his denial and need to appear on top of things.
Perhaps, if he'd sought out help and asked for advice way back when...
The 'what ifs' were haunting, even now, and the man shook his head to clear it as he pushed his way back into his apartment, leaving the girl alone with the cat outside. He dumped the empty plate and glasses in the sink, and the opened the fridge, grabbing a bottle of cool water from within before marching back outside, just in time to catch the child's new name for his tiny, little trespasser, "Felix it is," he turned to look at the mangy cat, "Do you object, fuzzball?" the creature in question seemed delighted by the attention it was receiving, 'Maaaaaaaaaaaaaau~~', it proclaimed rather happily, "I believe he agrees with the name."
He snorted in mild amusement, and then shook his head at her, "I admit I am not entirely well versed with social etiquette, but I believe that is your queue to tell me your own name," the cat's ears suddenly perked up, and its head swiveled to the side, lips pulling back into a hiss as it looked into the distance; its attention had been caught by something else. Probably a rival, and after a moment's pause, the creature bolted from its place at Chailee's feet, "And that, I believe, is probably our queue to call this a day,"after a pause, the man leaned against the side of his house and then tossed the bottle of water at the child, arching a brow at her in challenge, as if daring her to say something about it.
It would not look good on his record if apparently his soon-to-be-student died of dehydration on her way back home.
