User Image Zero would softly close the door behind him when he heard the stranger softly knocked on the door. However when he tried to open the door he would find that the door was locked. Not by Zero's own doing, but Elly who constantly monitored the security system. Elly would speak in a foreign language over the entry security device. It was his own way of keeping unwanted individuals out of his office. Zero thought for a second. Well the stranger did say he wanted to help. Ah! An idea! What better way to test someone's helpfulness and sanity then sending them on mindless tasks. It was the NPC way! RPC's just loved that crap. Picking up a folder, he would go back to his door to peek his head out the door. "Take this to the Fourth Division Captain... He'll know what it is. Tell him that it's a little complicated but the last page there is an AARP member friendly 'Too long; Didn't read'. Oh and tell him that I can't make my next appointment so... reschedule it in... oh I don't know the next one hundred years." Kyoshiro just had to have a paper copy of everything he did, but of course Zero had already sent him the same version via e-mail. Zero honestly believed that it was just a way to get him in the office because Zero avoided medical examinations like the plague. Now he would just send assistants, see how he likes that. Zero would then hand him the folder. "Don't look at it okay and thanks you're a big help." he would say in a nice tone before closing the door.

The trek from the Seireitei center back to the Twelfth Division while carrying the body took a toll on Sawako. Heavy lifting was never her strong suit; however, in this case she would be making an effort. What she recovered from the battle was well worth the strenuous labor being endured. Perhaps if more time was spent on training than researching, it would be less of a strain. The woman made a mental note of it later, just in case a situation such as this happened again. Her breathing had become short breaths, but the relief upon seeing the entrance of the Division was nothing but bliss. Excitement for her autopsy and to finally get this weight off the weary shoulders. Sawako's flushed face was greeted by a few members, who was surprised to see her. "Y-You're back? And...what is that?!" a bespectacled brunette girl questioned. "Oh this? Just the spoils of war...but he's quite heavy" the woman huffed, promptly shrugging the dead weight off her shoulder and onto the polished floors. A relieved breath escaped her lungs thereafter, taking a moment to finally catch a breath. Her robes were stained with the oily substance that seeped from the corpse, down to her feet that now left tracks of it wherever she stepped. Wiping her brow of sweat and leaving a greasy mark in its place, she grinned at her colleagues who some of which were grimacing at the mess she made on the floor they just cleaned. “Vice captain, the captain will flip if-” Sawako would raise her hand to interject at this, nonchalantly waving it off. “It’s fine~ I’ll have it cleaned after I finish moving the body. Now, if I could get it to an available lab in a timely manner before the captain can see all this…” the dark haired woman would request aid in not so many words.

With an extra pair of hands, the ryoka’s remains would be taken to a vacant lab and set upon a table. While the corpse was being prepared, Sawako would grab a mop and swiftly take care of her mess in the hall. She should have also taken the time to get herself cleaned up; however, she refused to wait much longer. It had been far too long since the scientist got to do an autopsy on such an interesting specimen. A Ryoka with unusual abilities was certainly worth the study. 'Hmm? Weren't there two of them?' Sawako recalled, wondering what happened to the other. Flagging a pair of shinigami to her side, she would relay orders to them both. She would send out one of them to look into the fate of the other Ryoka to see if she could get her hands on the other corpse as well. As for the remaining soldier… “Evidently...there is reason to believe Karakura Town is in danger. Alert the captain if they don’t already know.” Sending them on their way, she’d get back to her side project. Tying up her long dark hair, the vice captain stepped into the brightly lit lab with two others already dressed in scrubs. Removing her shawl and hanging it on a hook by the door, Sawako would put on one of the nearby lab coats over her oily soaked robes. Approaching the body on the slab, now disrobed and laid bare, it was apparent this was a type of Gigai. “So, this is- was, a Mod Soul… Very well, let’s start with extracting whatever remains of the pill!” she instructed her assistants. While removing a Mod Soul from their Gigai was not a difficult process normally, it was a little harder when trying to salvage from one that was deceased. A delicate and careful procedure would earn their prize, the shards of the pill being removed with care and placed in a small vat with a clear indigo solution. Sawako watched as tiny bubbles formed around the broken pieces, preventing them from falling apart any further.

At the moment, it was hard to say what they could salvage from the Konpaku...but the artificial body on the other hand had quite a bit. Despite the damage it’d sustained, it came with quite a bit of technology for them to go over. The measures that were used to keep the host’s form intact...it was as if it was more machine than anything. With all of the mechanical enhancements, it seemed the oil-based blood was some sort of means to upkeep both the technology and the organics of the unit. “I’ve never seen anything like this… Who could have made something like this?” one of the aids asked aloud. Sawako shook her head, also at a loss as to who and how to respond. All she could think was how fascinating this all was...and how her Father would have loved to experiment with something like this. Father was a studious researcher and strict teacher that helped guide her. At a very early age, he taught her about death and science; definitely not something a child her age was ready to learn about. Her first study was a sick fawn in the forest that she came across. Father brought it home and helped her nurse it back to health after conducting numerous experiments to figure out what was wrong with it. It was not until after she would learn her mentor was the one responsible for the animal’s ailment. Such cruel means to teach a lesson and but even harsher to learn what kind of man was raising her. Setting the technology aside, Sawako left the other two with the Gigai as she took the konpaku jar to a nearby counter. Snatching a couple bottles off the shelf of varying color and viscosity, she proceeded to add a few drops to the solution here and there. It was a slow and tedious process, but it would help restore the pill to its former shape. Unfortunately, it would do nothing for the soul that once dwelled within, for it was long gone. What remained- what Sawako hoped to recover, were the memories sleeping within. Information to learn more about where this Mod Soul came from and what it knew of. Though time would tell as she’d only succeeded with this experiment once before and every konpaku was different in a way.

Slate gray eyes peered on the shattered orb, watching as pieces drifted about in the substance, wandering aimlessly. “...Where do Mod Souls go when they die? Do they enter the soul cycle? Or because they’re artificial, do they simply...disappear?” the woman mused to herself. Such an answer eluded her, though truthfully it was because she did not care that much to find out. Thus, the shinigami that was sent away earlier would burst in and relay to her the bad news. “Dust?! They let it turn to dust?!” the vice captain sighed. Hearing who was at the center of that confrontation, it was to be expected. “Not an ounce of tact or restraint in that entire Division. Although, ‘Wolf Girl’ did break the gravity device on our end, but at least there was something salvageable.” Her hopes of studying the other ryoka now dashed, she was now compelled to do her job or something of that nature. The messenger was relieved, begrudgingly while the woman sighed again, shaking her head. Tossing the smock back on the hook, Sawako released her hair from the bind, letting it fall down her shoulders once more. Now to look into the Karakura Town issue herself...

Toraneko curses under her breath as she stares at her smart device. "Captain is gonna kill me ... Damn jackasses ... I hope a night in a cell will help them learn their lesson." The screen is cracked and the display underneath it is showing digital garbage as she calls it - pixelated glitching. <******** ..." she hisses as it suddenly blacks out. "Guess I better go find some tech head in twelfth." With that she darts off to Division Twelve, taking every short cut that she can fit through or over. It pays to be so small in a place where the alleyways and passages can run narrow at points. Finally she arrives at the entrance to the division. "Excuse me! Anybody ..." the place is pretty busy with people working on various projects. "Excuse me! I need my device to be repaired or replaced please!"

Sawako did not get far to her destination before someone came barging in through the front door. She had half a mind to ignore it, but she had to peek over her shoulder to see who it was. Her pale eyes widened in awe of those features on their guest. That bright tan coat, those soft brown mittens and the two big pools of blue on her face, accompanied with just the cutest voice! Oh my! Sawako turned on her heel, briskly walking up to the bi-pedal cat and nearly knocking a few other shinigami down in the process. The woman stood before the feline for a moment, admiring her cute round face before gracing her with a close eyed smile. Some believed her cheshire-like smile was creepy or weird; however, it was genuine and endearing, in this case. "My, my, my. Who do we have here? And how may I assist you?" she asked. The tiny voice did mention something about a broken device, though she wondered what it was? Peering down through half lidded eyes, she would notice something tucked in her little chocolate paws. It appeared to be a phone that was issued to the shinigami when they left for the World of the Living. Whatever the piece of tech was, she had certainly know to come to the right place for repairs. Reaching down with an open hand, she waited for the broken instrument to be placed in her palm. "May I?" the tech head cooed.

Tora looks up at Sawako and smiles. "Ah, yes, please. Some idiots smashed it while resisting arrest. They'll be hating life for a while until their captains decide to claim them." She hands the device over and gives her a wry look. "Is it bad? I mean, you guys have quite the reputation of creating impressive stuff, so I figured that you would be the most likely to be able to repair it ... or replace it. I have no idea how bad the damage is." She gives her a wry look. "If you can not fix it, please do transfer the information into a new smart device. There is a fair amount of important information on it for my division."

With the device being placed in her hand, Sawako held it up to her face to get a better look at it. The screen was cracked, most likely due to the scuffle she mentioned. Though these were supposed to be a little more durable than the average phone- built with the assumption shinigami would have them when fighting Hollow. Then again, this one seemed to be an older model as well and would not be up to par with the latest and greatest they had to offer. Sawako fidgety with a few of the buttons, seeing the garbled code that tried to transmit through the broken display. She hummed to herself, making note of what exactly was wrong with it. "I see… This can easily be fixed, though it would be easier to just give you a better model that won't break in a minor scuffle, kufufu" she giggled, spinning on her heel again. With a hand wave motion, she would gesture the cat girl to follow her down the hall.

"But of course we can repair it or replace it. We made it after all!" Though when she looked back at her, she could see the concern on her face, followed by her voiced concerns. Sawako could not help but chuckle, not to make fun of or belittle the kitten. "No worries, a data transfer will not be an issue. Your new phone will have all of your information and then some! Oh, I know. How about I throw in a cute little fish charm? Would you like that?" The place Tora would be led to a smaller lab, brightly lit and cluttered with various gadgets and gizmos. She would make her way to a nearby desk, pulling open a drawer full of phones. "Now, would you prefer a particular color… OH. My mistake, I didn't get your name. I'm Sawako Hagiwara, the vice captain here" she introduced herself with another smile.

Tora quickly trots behind her down the hall. "I am relieved to hear that. And you're right, it was no minor scuffle. It was a pair of damn idiots who shanked it with their zanpakutous to keep me for calling for back up. You better believe that I clobbered the crap out of them for it." While Kowaku explains the advantage of upgrading to a new device she smiles. "That would probably be for the best if we upgrade it to a newer device. I have had that one for the past three years. It was almost out of memory." As Kowaku talks about options for it she grins broadly. "Sure! A cute little purple device with a fish charm. Oh, and my name is Toraneko Hinote, Fourth Seat of the Third Division. It's an honor to meet you, ma'am!"

Removing a purple phone from the drawer, Sawako would shut it behind her as she crouched down. Prying open the bottom drawer, she fished out the charm they spoke of, clipping it to the corner of the cell. In the corner of the room, a computer sat idly with a blinking cursor on the screen. Here, she would plug both the new and old phones into it and set them aside before inputting a few things on the keyboard. She tapped the keys quickly without taking her eyes off the screen, humming a quiet song to herself. While she had it, a few files of information were added, allowing Tora to get the best out of her device. Admittedly, it surprised her to hear she took down two shinigami and the only thing to be damaged was her phone. This was one talented kitty! The data transfer between the devices would begin, Sawako turning to look at Tora again. “Third Division… I was just with Sanada-san until a while ago, when she and the others stopped the ryoka” she mentioned. The altercation Tora was involved with must have been happening around that time. So these shinigami sought to use the commotion to engage in mischief? So sad, so sad… It was a good thing the furry shinigami was there to put a stop to their shenanigans. With a cheery chime, the meter on the screen had filled, signaling the transfer was complete. Unplugging the new device, she would lower herself to hand it to Tora directly. “Here you are! Better than your old one, I promise. And if you have any other problems, you can come back and ask for me, ok?” The little feline shinigami was so adorable, the woman just wanted to reach out and pet her. Would that be inappropriate? Would she mind, just a little scratch behind the ear? Or even on the nape of her neck?

Such a desire would be put on hold as they would soon be interrupted with the appearance of another scientist. A short boy with a lab coat over his robes who seemed frantic and somehow relieved at the same time. “Vice captain! You were here? Ah, not important! It turns out Karakura Town was attacked after all! There are major casualties and rising! It’s bad- REALLY BAD!” he gasped, out of breath. Handing the device to the kitten, Sawako would stand up, taking in what she heard. Clasping a lock of her hair in her fingers, she would twirl and kneed the dark strands as she hummed to herself. This persisted for a good while until she abruptly clasped her hands together and smiled. “Ok! I’m going to the World of the Living! Who better to get an up close look at the situation?” she asked rhetorically. The little guy looked as if he wanted to interject, but the vice captain was already leaving the room, passing right by him. “I will start preparations immediately. Let’s see, what will I need…” the woman mumbled to herself as she headed down the hall again.

Tora smiles up at her as she transfers the data over to the new device. It was gratifying to have such cooperation between the divisions and even more gratifying to receive aid so willingly and pleasantly. She decides that she likes the tall woman. The mention of a Sanada catches her attention. "Kowaku-san, is it alright to call you by name? I-" as soon as she gets that out an urgent report is rushed in there. Apparently there has been an incursion in the human world. She frowns disapprovingly and quickly taps out a message to her captain Iabout the situation and awaits her orders. Division Three typically acts as law enforcement, but it depends on the situation going on. Earth usually does not interest her that much, not with there being much to explore in the Seireitei and the Soul Society in general. This was not one of those situations, but it was also a good prospect for a fight. Even though she is physically weaker than many, she makes up for it in spirit and tenacity. "I just notified my captain. I was going to await orders, but if you would like an escort?" And she was gone. That is a good question. She has no kidou right now. Barely out of training and fully aware that her seat was granted because of her sponsor, retired Soul Court Judge Sasuga Hi-Sanada. She is far from reluctant, however, and does desire to go.

Her office was where she wandered off to, muttering to herself what she'd need for her trip along the way. It was a modest office, dimly lit with beige walls and a dark oak desk, free of clutter. Sawako usually kept her abode clean, believing it hard to focus in a clutter. Upon entering; however, she would find an assortment of papers added to her workload. While she did keep things clean, Sawako often had papers stacked high on her desk. Who had time for paperwork when there were experiments and projects to run?! Certainly not her! Ignoring the forms that she noticed at a glance were from Ikasu, she went rummaging through her drawers to find what she was looking for. A kit full of empty vials to collect samples for later testing, her own cellphone for use on the other side and a small burlap bag filled with an unknown substance. Stuffing these along with a few other contents into a sling over bag, it was about time for her to head out. And when she turned to leave, she would be surprised to see the kitty had followed her from the lab. “Tora-chan? Is something the matter? Or...did you want to come with me?” she asked, actually keen on the latter. Having her along would give the scientist another chance at getting to pet her. Perhaps it would be dangerous, but she seemed capable of taking care of herself. “Hmm...well, I definitely won’t say no if you do. If so, there’s somewhere I need to stop first before we traverse to the Human World. Why don’t you come with me?” Sawako would waste no time in leading the way out, a little pep to her step as she was excited to get a move on.

Ikasu arrives back in Division Twelve, still having not gone back to his apartment. It does not look like that's how his day is going to end after all. Ah well. Back to science or something equally entertaining. He unlocks his office door and promptly drops his empty flask in his sink and grabs a bottle out of his mini fridge under his desk. A quick swig and he pauses to swirl it around in his mouth. "Hmmm ... Needs something else added to it to cover that taste or nobody will drink it." He places it on the counter and pulls out his flavoring mixtures. "No sense in making it unpalatable. I want people to actually like it. If they like it they will not question what is in it. Hehe." Grabbing several fruit flavorings and a bottle of sake he blends them carefully. "There. That should do it."

Lilith "The Clockwork Librarian" Sonozaki

User Image Lilith Sonozaki sighed as she entered the Twelfth Division Headquarters behind Ikasu. It was then she felt comfortable enough to show her true form, and she removed the flesh colored gloves that hid the robotic appendages and let the disguise about her form. She wasn't sure if the rest of Soul Society was ready for her robotic experiments or the fact she had become more machine than person. In truth, it was all a part of the plan to regain a semblance of the power she once enjoyed as a murderous Arrancar. It was these memories that her Zanpakuto spirit twisted and used to transform it's master into a true masterpiece.

Fear and respect, those were memories she remembered having at the side of Achana when the two brought Alfheim to it's knees and critically wounded their mythical 'goddess'. It was those memories that made Lilith understand in her purified state that there was nothing that could not be overcome with innovation and evolution. Hollowfication was one option, sure, but there was also the fact that technology held another way. Steel was cold and unforgiving, but strong and resolute. It wasn't weak like her flesh and bone form. It did not need to heal, and could be repaired and put back together. "Hope you don't mind?", she remarked as her finger joints clicked and adjusted to the open air. "Seemed like the boys were about to bash heads again...I'm rather relieved we did not have to endure watching that vulgar blood sport.", the cyborg reaper remarked as she looked about Ikasu's office. To her, it seemed rather unorganized and inefficient, but that was probably because it held all of the feelings of home in it.

With some further analysis, Lilith seemed to loft a brow at the prospect of drinking. "I will pass on inhibiting substances. Maybe if I were more organic than machine, but I find that alcohol slows down my processing speeds.", she said matter-of-factly. Her zanpakuto spirit also hated alcohol. It made people loud and disrupted the quiet serenity of the Golden Clockwork Library, and by people, Lilith's memories that inhabited the space. People were patrons of this expansive inner world, and places or things existed in the form of books. It was quite an interesting space, but anyone could visit it should she activate the projector on the hilt of her blade.

Ikasu does not look up at first as Lillith enters while requesting permission. "No problem. I just lock it to keep the grunts out. They can be rather ... nosey. I dislike that. You, however, are a valued colleague, Lillith-san." He swirls the mixture and pours another sip of it. "Better. That should get the grunts to sample it without question." He places a cap on the bottle and smiles at her with amusement. "I can of course make it a virging beverage for you, my friend. Though, I do not suppose that you are into fruity drinks. I do also have teas, coffees, and chocolate if you care to actually try it." He grins at her as he observes her sleek metalic form. "Now that is a much better look for you, Lillith-san. You know how I have a thing for robotics and engineering."

Lilith "The Clockwork Librarian" Sonozaki

User Image Lilith sent out a dismissive wave of her mechanical fingers at the offering of refreshment. "I do not require food, but I am curious, you mentioned being interested in robotics?", she asked with a slight smirk spreading across her lips. "Don't tell me that's some weird way of making a pass at me. You'd have to do better than that if your intent was to seduce me.", the silver haired Reaper chuckled as she began to walk around the room and examine the stuff and projects that he might be working on. She seemed interested in the various samples and artifacts that lay skewed about. That, and the fact that it was not like her own office was reason enough to go over the various workings of her comrade.
