There was a silent stare at the cat as he spoke in a tone that was clearly intent on displaying irritation. He shrugged softly, as if it didn't bother him Snowball would get use to it.
Niflhel had followed over and tossed the paper in pausing and looking, "I don't really have reasons to keep lighters on me. . . paper and pen sure?" He seemed thoughtful as he looked around, "We could do it the old fashion way?"The cat's tail swished softly as she spoke and gave him a peck on the cheek. He still looked unimpressed with the whispers and what not. "I suppose it's not. There's probably other stools in the kingdom."
He looked between them before sighing and pulling out a small purple lighter. "I really need a bag to carry this stuff in that's a bottomless pit." He clicked it and held it to the paper that was being used for kindling. "There's probably lots of things we can use for fire wood but I'd really prefer we use actual firewood when we can. There's no tellings what sort of finish was used back in the whatever age this was."
He also stopped and seemed to think, "I hope I don't have to play chimney sweep."

"I had a buy some actually to bring up here too." She commiserated with Niflhel's lack of lighter. There were probably a couple in the kitchen or scattered around the house for relighting the stove when it went out or lighting candles in the case of a blackout, but other then that she also had no need. Boy scouts they were not. But luckily they had a cat that was.
"Careful not to burn yourself" Polaris chirped out of reflex and mothering affection, though she would feel silly about it later. If he was the one with the lighter he probably knew how to use it.
"Ohh I bet I could rig up something to clean the chimneys if you think it's necessary. Wrap some brushes or cloth around a thick piece of metal and then just shoot it up the chimney." See, she could be helpful! Something she was worrying she might not be after the whole 'power tools' conversation.
The paper caught easily and the ancient wood was soon to follow, quickly illuminating the room in a soft orange glow. Light flickered over the large and grandeous tables and chairs, silver candlestick holders shimmering and reflecting the glow of the flames. The warmth would follow soon as well.
Turning to glance around the room she couldn't help but sigh, a soft and happy little noise as she pictured it in her mind. "It's going to take a lot of work, but I think it will be beautiful. We can have the whole reception here, so we only need to focus on getting one or two rooms ready before the wedding." Well.. three maybe, but Polaris wasn't thinking of that right now.

Snowball paused as Polaris was talking about buying some to bring up and then telling him not to burn himself, "Yes Princess~," He chirruped back in that sing-song tone a kid yesing his mother would use.
He managed to get it lit, though he did actually kinda burn his fingers but he didn't say anything. Only making a face that thankfully they couldn't see in the dark. "There," He said when it finally lit."
He stretched, "It'd be useful and I wouldn't have to become a soot ball, I'd rather not." He said as he looked around in the light, while he could see somewhat in the dark the whole place looked different lit up. He gave a low whistle, "We've got a shitton of work Nif.""Ah, yeah we should probably do tha-- of course the cat has what we need." He said with a sigh, he was relieved really they didn't have to go back and get any but why did he have a lighter in the first place!?
"Please don't burn anything down with that." He added as he looked when the room was finally cast in light.
"Yeah I'm with snowball, best to use firewood. Making sure it's not pine 'cause it'll gunk up the chimney. We don't need that." He looked around, "We should get smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors anyways. I mean if we're using candles and fire we might need those in case something goes a little screwy. IF batteries will even hold up, we may need someone to help modify the batteries."

Polaris' smile was sheepish, but she was happy enough that Snowball's playful tone was the extent of his teasing at her reflexive statement. And it was a good thing that Snowball didn't mention the burn, or she would have swept over there and tried to steal the lighter away from him before fussing over his fingers with attention and kisses. Despite the fact that he was as old and mature as her, and that he was supposed to be the one watching over her, in lue of real children Snowball and Merlin were her babies. And that included occasional over protectiveness, kisses for 'owwies', and cheeks cleaned with spit. Whether he liked it or not.
Snowball's whistle and statement brought a mild look of guilt to Polaris' face. Both because she felt bad that her star had ever gotten into such disrepair and because she hadn't attempts to start fixing or cleaning it up before now, but also because she didn't know how much help she'd be in all the work he was proposing. Not without some serious tutelage. Really her best use would probably be in cleaning and dusting, moving metal when they needed it, or being there to basically play gopher and bring them the things they needed. It hardly seemed like a far share of the work. Especially when all the work was being done for her.
Niflhel's sudden insight on smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and batteries (and presumably whether the cold or other strange space atmosphere would zap them) drew her attention back in soft awe. She wouldn't have thought of any of that, wouldn't even have thought to think about those kind of things. She really was hopeless.
Returning to her fiancee' side she tossed her arms around him, letting her cheek come to rest against his chest as she hugged him gushing genuinely. "You both are so amazing. I don't know what I'd do without you both." Why they both put up with her and cared for her she'd never know, but Polaris truly felt like the luckiest girl (and bride to be) in the whole universe.

Snowball was using his tail to dust off some of the furniture as he walked. "At least my tail can do something useful for now." He started laughing, "So . . ." He dismissed the lighter as he watched Polaris toss her arms around Niflhel, "Where's my hug?" He said in a playful pout which had Niflhel sticking his tongue out playfully at the cat like - haha.
Snowball returned the gesture to the Saturn Knight who usually wasn't even this silly. "Well that's why you have me at least Polaris. I'm suppose to be your Guardian and Adviser."
He looked around as he continued, "It's going to need an overhaul in the decorations too, some of these look a little worse for wear. Though I'm sure some sewing could be done to fix them up and make them look good as new." The cat was looking at the tapestries on the wall.Niflhel couldn't help but show the cat that haha, Polaris liked him better at the moment. They'd gotten where they'd chided back and forth but it was nice to be able to drop the whole serious act for a while.
He started laughing though when she said she didn't know what she'd do without them and kissed her on the lips before grinning, "You'd be cooking and doing things that you always do and trying to figure out how to fix things. You're smart, I'm sure you'd be able to figure it out even if it took a while. It'll just go faster." He said with a shrug completely confident that Polaris could probably do all this.
"We may have to rope a few friends into helping too though since we can't rope your brothers into it. . . ." He seemed to think, "Surely there's a broom closet somewhere Snow, you ain't gotta use you're tail. A place like this surely has cleaning supplies we can find 'em and do that for a little while so we can see what actually needs caring for."
He paused, "We can come back later and work on the other rooms that we need and bring some supplies for this one. I can make a list of what we need to get started and bring some up a little along."Iris_virus Do you want to end this with them just cleaning the place?

The show of childish playfulness from the two boys brought forth a soft giggle from Polaris, her arms squeezing Niflhel a little tighter even as her eyes traveled to Snowball with soft amusement. "They'll be plenty of hugs and kisses for you tonight, so I'd better not hear any complaints about it then."
She had turned back to Niflhel after that, not long before he not only dismissed her concerns but also leaned down to give her a loving kiss to punctuate it. It was a kiass that only confirmed her thoughts and made her beam. They were both so sweet her.
"I imagine we'll get a little bit of decor just for the wedding, but I'm fairly decent at sewing, I might be able to mend some of the original decor." That should be simply enough just to try and fix and preserve a few things.
Niflhel's suggestion of bringing along reinforcements for help was a good one. But, atleast in the beginning, she hoped to avoid causing trouble or work for any more people then she needed to. After all, she could only imagine she'd need a small army during the week before and actual day of the wedding. She didn't want to wear them out too early.
"Oh there must be some cleaning supplies around. We might need to bring some actual soap and stuff after all this time but brooms and dust pans I'm sure there must be a mountain of."LP We can either end with them cleaning or with them deciding to go home to prepare/gather some supplies for coming back to clean/start working on stuff.

Snowball laughed, "Okay, fine. I'll settle for that." He nodded as he continued to dust things off with his tail. "Well of course you're going to need decor for the wedding, we should start with that too. Just in case."
He nodded at Niflhel as he looked around, "Where would it be Polaris? I can grab some of the stuff out of the closet. We'd probably want to bring some mopping and floor shining supplies too!""I wouldn't be surprised if we need all kinds of soaps and things, but at least we could sweep up and get the cobwebs and whatever there is to clean away. Get things less gross so when we come back we'll already have at least one layer of dust gone."
He paused, "I'd hate to think about dusting and cleaning my wonder. At least you've had snow to keep the dust here under control." He started laughing that would be another project that would take a while to do.Iris_virus I feel like them cleaning off a layer of dust and taking notes of what they need could work, because I'm sure this'll be a lengthy series of rps anyways even some handwaved rps. And if they're up there and just lit a fire they could at least work until the embers were out so as not to waste the fire.

"Cleaning and mantainance weren't really in my list of duties back then.." She mused a little to Snowball when he asked about the supplies. It was unfortunate he didn't seem to remember things in the past like she did. It's make things a lot easier to put together, and might offer a fuller understanding. A finger tapped her cheek as she thought, musing finally after a moment. "But... logically speaking, if I were to put cleaning supplies someplace it would be nearby but still out of the way. Maybe in or near the kitchen?"
Niflhel's comment about trying to dust his wonder brought an amused but sympathetic look from Polaris. "I think all of this is extremely daunting. I mean entire towns and civilizations lived here before and cared for it. It'd be near impossible to fix or clean everything. But I guess a little is better than nothing."
Motioning towards a door on the far wall, she withdrew her phone again to use as a light. "I think the kitchen was this way, we'll see if we can't find some brooms."LP Excellent point. Probably just a couple more posts and we can wrap it. heart

Snowball's ears twitched as she spoke, " . . . So you didn't occasionally hang with the help either huh?" He rolled his shoulders as he started walking towards the door she indicated.Niflhel shrugged softly when she said the cleaning and what not weren't part of her duties. "Well of course, you were a senshi and a princess. They wouldn't've let you touch any of that. You had more important roles."
He followed behind her as they headed to the kitchen. "Probably a broom closest somewhere away from where they'd cook." He looked around, "There's probably a fire place in here too, we could see what this looks like if you wanted, see what sort of storage there is and what sorta cleaning it needs." He added as a thought. "Since we have one lighted we just need to grab a torch or something and bring the fire with us."
He gave a small shrug as Snowball seemed more accustom to walking around in the dark, which he was a cat so there were those pointers on the other's side.

"Not so much no...." She sounded almost.. guilty as she responded. Even being well off and going to fancy boarding schools in this life she'd never felt herself better or above others. But in the past.... she wasn't entirely certain that the person she was in the past felt the same way. Not after being raised as she was, the sole senshi and princess of her entire star, like Niflhel mentioned. Maybe it was a good thing that Snowball didn't remember much of a the past and the handful she must have been for him to take care of. "I was really really busy.." She added sheepishly. Which wasn't entirely untrue. She had a lot of studying that she had to do and meetings and ceremonies. Plus traveling around to other planets on diplomatic missions. And then of course there were those years in her teen and young adulthood she spent sneaking off with a certain knight whenever she could.... Yeah.. maybe it really was a blessing Snowball couldn't see it all like she could.
Thankful of Niflhel's distraction she nodded vigorously. "Yes a broom closet makes sense, I imagine that's where most of it would be. They'd need a pretty big one for a place this big, especially when they had large gatherings and ceremonies." Pushing ahead with her phone held in front of her it wasn't hard to find what they were looking for. The kitchen was large, obviously a place accustomed to cooking for a lot of people at once. To the left a door lead to a pantry, one that would mostly certainly need to be cleaned and rid of any of the ancient remains of what had once been food. To the right was a small door full of kitchen and cleaning supplies. It only took a minute or so of rummaging to find a could brooms and cloths. They were ironically, but unsurprisingly, also covered in dust.
"We can start with the other room first and if we haven't burnt out the fire completely by then we can move into here. We'll eventually need to figure out if it's possible to get any of these stoves working." Did they use gas back then or some strange and mystical means of energy? Well no.. she knew that... they used magnets for a lot of their energy. But how exactly that worked she wasn't entirely sure.

Niflhel nodded, "We need to bring a radio or an ipod and speakers or something so we have something to work to. Not that I don't enjoy the silence of the homeworlds and wonders, but it gets soo eerily quite that we need some sound." He said as he grabbed a boom and twirled it around, "Snow catch!" He called throwing the cat one and then offering one to Polaris while grabbing a broom of his own, the dust pan and feather dusters.
He paused when he saw aprons and grabbed one for him and her and then tossing one onto the cat's head. "Here I'm sure you'd rather not mess up you're coat too much."
He put on the apron over his uniform with a grin. "Lets see were we end up. We can buy cd's or an ipod and download music. I don't care either."Snowball turned around with a "Huh?" He caught the broom and started laughing, "alright cool. Hey I found something neat over here too~" He called, it looked like it was filled with recipe books, of course if Polaris couldn't read them it wouldn't be much help but there were pictures and some of the food sure looked yummy.
He stopped, "Yeah I think some sort of noise is a good idea. It's difficult to concentrate sometimes on a task if it's dead silent. Of course I can't help with that one, I don't have some magical bag of holding."

"Anything you like." She agreed with a nod as he mentioned his desire for a radio or music to cut through the silence and pass the time. "And of course plenty of snacks and lunches for my hardworking boys." Polaris added as she pulled her own apron on, tying it on before giggling a little at how silly it looked mixed with what she was wearing.
It was perhaps only fate that Snowball would then find a cookbook, Polaris leaning on her broom a bit to gaze at some of the pictures. "It probably uses some ingredients that were native to the star, but maybe I can figure out a thing or two with Earth ingredients if I look at it long enough." Or maybe she'd even figure out an ingredient or two she could actually use from the star. Though she'd test it herself first, after having heard of Europa's problems with plants on her homeworld. She decided to take the book when they left, even if she wasn't ever able to decipher any of it, it'd be fun to try.
Snowball's references went miles over her head, but she smiled nonetheless, as she tested out the broom reflexively. "I guess we'd better get to work then, the place won't clean itself." Plus the other room had a nice little fire.
Sweeping was something she could most certainly do, so inspired by the ability to actually be helpful, she was quick to lead the way back through the door to the banquet hall. It'd take awhile, due to it's huge size and centuries of neglect, but with the three of them working it wouldn't seem nearly as bad.LP Can probably vaguely fade this to an end after either your or my next post, unless there is anything else you wanted them to talk about/do still? heart

Waiting for a moment before following Polaris towards the banquet room with broom in hand. "It's going to take a lot of sweeping and dusting. I wonder if we have running water or if it froze. I mean if they can figure out aqueducts according to history books back on earth, surely we knew how to make water run."
He hummed softly as the broom started slowly to whisk over the floor in spot moving to his own beat.Niflhel's brow lofted as Snowball was looking at a book before turning to nod back to Polaris, "Yes, music and food sound like great ideas. It'll be better than not bringing anything. I know you can make runs but still, it'd be better to bring lunches."
He walked out behind Polaris and Snowball stopping in the center of the room to play with the broom and pretended to air fight with it grinning towards Polaris, "Hey this'd be good to train with too, though surely there's some sort of training areas that's got sticks and all that. However, we'll deal with that another time. We don't need to be sharp while cleaning the floors I'm sure."
He gave the broom a final twirl before setting to sweeping, the feather duster was sticking out of a back pocket on his uniform as he swept, listening to the soft swish of each movement, combined with Snowball's own broom and humming. . . . Maybe for now they could make their own beat?Iris_virus I don't think so. XD~ Nif's just being silly at this point

"You don't want to live dangerously?" She teased the Mauvian playfully, but it was all in jest. The fact that Snowball had mentioned it was enough to scare her off of it, especially after hearing plants from Europa had put their senshi into a coma. It just wasn't worth blindly experimenting.
"We'll be more prepared next time" she agreed to the knight's words. "This was more of a scouting mission I suppose. Now we've got a better clue of what we're dealing with."
Niflhel's silliness drew some giggles out of the senshi, shaking her head as he play fought some unseen opponent. It was so good to see him in a good mood and happy, totally worth the fact that it'd probably take them longer to get through the room. Polaris was in no hurry though, more than happy to shirk her own sweeping to watch the two boys. As much as she loved her brothers it was uncomparably good to be back home again.
When Niflhel finally settled into sweeping Polaris finally set her broom to the ground a little ways away beginning to slowly sweep. The amount of dust and decay that had touched the room over the years was daunting. But slowly and surely the room was cleaned.
Step one down. Only about a billion more to go on the path to a wedding. And a happier, better maintained star.
