"Aro! Nice to see you again." Clyde gave him a wave back. They really needed to still go out for that drink. Perhaps after this mission would be a good time. He had no idea what Arorangi had actually said but he assumed it was some form of greeting.

"Are you ready for adventure?" Clyde had a grin akin to a small child on Christmas morning, innocent and unaware of the future dangers. They were going off the island. They were going exploring! Then again Clyde was used to living life rough. He just thought of it as a camping trip with wolves and bears included.

"Who's your friend?" he walked over... oh look someone new for him to meet.

Sherry was still counting people as they arrived. So far, so good.

She turned to Chance, a thoughtful look on her face. "I don't think we'll be gone more than a few hours, and that's only if we find something of real interest. But I am hoping to find enough to keep us engaged for at least a couple of hours." She really didn't want this mission to be a waste.

It was right about then that another Life team member got her attention. "Nice to meet you, Oliver!" She grinned at him. "Excellent! Field testing is quite valuable." She paused and looked around. "Don't be afraid to pull someone in to help you with testing, if you need it."
Research was very important, and Sherry was always supportive of research.

More people were showing up. New faces (which made Sherry happy) as well as ones she knew.

"Hi, Mimi!" She waved at the trainee. "Um...wait here and I'll have you and Chance help me hand out a few things in a minute."

Just a minute was right. It was time to get things moving along.

"Okay!" Sherry clapped her hands. "Everyone, if I could have your attention! Please, Thank you!" She took a deep breath. "Okay. As some of you know or may have guessed, I'm Sherry, and this is a small research excursion. I want to thank you all for coming, I hope we have fun."

Sherry had a bad habit of talking too much when she was nervous. "We'll be going to Turkey today,on the side closest to the Mediterranean coast. I don't anticipate running into any locals, but if we do, just pretend we're a tourist group. What we're really doing is investigating a group of old ruins- old city and tombs and such- built more or less on the side of a mountain. We WILL be going inside and underground- I have reason to believe that the ruins actually go far deeper into the hillsides than people realize, and THIS is where our main focus of exploration will be."

She pulled forward a small box. "Everyone gets one bag to hold things, though if you have your own you can just use that if you want."

She grabbed another box. "I have some notebooks, please take one and a pen or two if you need them. But we do have phones and other nifty gadgets you can use for note taking if you'd rather. However! I don need everyone to get a couple of baggies and jars for samples, just in case. All of that is in this box here."

Sherry pushed the largest box in Chance's direction. "Everyone needs a flashlight! There was a problem with my order of headlamps, so for this trip all we have are some handheld lights. Please don't lose them. Chance, could you help make sure everyone gets one?"

"Okay. What else," she looked around. "Mimi, hand these out." Sherry turned, grabbed a box, and dumped it in Mimi's arms. "I've brought snacks. Everyone gets a sandwich! There are ham and cheese OR tomato and lettuce. Everyone gets two. You also get an apple, and a bottle of water."

Sherry looked around, mentally checking things off her list. "Okay. I think that's it. Just grab your gear and head to the portal." She waved in that direction.

"Oh! One more thing!" Sherry was waving again, and no towards the portal. "Self Introductions! Everybody get your things, then we'll trade names, and head through the portal together."

OOC
Ok! It's time to move!

Just have your character(s) pick up Their equipment and say their name, then feel free to move on to THE NEXT THREAD. Or stay and chatter - but you can assume everyone moves over at the same time.

Equipment is: a bag if they need it, a notebook and pen, some bags and jars for samples, and lunch. Please remember your water! We want everyone to stay healthy!

Scout thought Sherry rather amiable, considering she seemed nervous and polite. Those were two traits that Scout also shared, and it was really nice to see a full hunter that wasn't all melodrama and confident.

Drawstring bags, notebooks and sack lunches seemed ... a little childish, but Scout wasn't going to complain at free food, and really it was thoughtful of Sherry to even bother. Plus it would be a great way to coax Dawson out of the bad mood he'd had as of late.

She picked up her things as she was told, trying not to get in anyone's way. She liked the drawstring bags- the bright blue made her very happy. A blue notebook, three pens (two for herself, one as an extra if someone needed it- there was always someone that dropped theirs) and her assigned food and flashlight. It was too bad she didn't have her tool belt- it would have been useful for carrying all this stuff.

"Um ... Are you ready ... Mr. Grace?"

He gave Mimi a little grin as she ran up before Chance turned his attention back to Sherry. She seemed excited, maybe a little nervous, but either way, the mission seemed an interesting one, and he was quite pleased to be a part of it.

When prompted, he bent over the largest box she'd nudged towards him and grabbed a bunch of the flashlights, passing them out to everyone who'd come so far, accompanied by a cheerful smile. Chance left one for himself and tucked it into the bag that he plucked from another box. All of his supplies were tucked together and he swung it onto his shoulders, looking as relaxed as ever.

"I'm Chance Bones," he said lightly, giving a small wave to the group. "Sun Division Intermediate."

And once everyone else had spoken, he disappeared into the portal along with them.

(He may or may not have rifled Oliver's hair on the way out.)

Oliver's shoulders sank slightly as some more of the nervous tension disappeared. "Th-thank you," he stammered in response, managing a smile in return. "I-it's not much work, just, um, taking measurements and checking them against values with a known accuracy... I-I'll not take anyone away from your work..."

Suddenly he felt a sturdy hand land on his back, and even though he should have expected it, Oliver still jumped. The knot of anxiety squirmed sickeningly in his stomach. "A-Arorangi... H-hi... Um, you a-are looking forward to exploring?" It was a silly question, there seemed very little his friend did not look forward to.

Clyde received a nervous smile, and Oliver shifted the bag slung over his shoulder and offered a handshake. "O-Oliver Keeley, um, n-nice to meet you." He accepted the food, water, and flashlight with murmured thanks as they were offered, and all three disappeared somewhere into either his bag or his jacket pockets. Then he glanced back at Clyde. "Ah, y-you are new here?"

Arorangi beamed at Clyde. "I am very ready for adventure!" he said cheerfully, and dragged Oliver forward, an arm slung around his shoulders. "Clyde, this is my best friend Oliver, as he says! Oliver, this is Clyde, my new friend!"

He seemed quite pleased that the two of them were making acquaintances, Arorangi releasing Oliver (thankfully) to gather his own supplies together. He happily pulled the pack on and looked at the both of them.

"Let us get ready, then!"

Yayyyyyyyyy exploring!! Mimi wondered if there were turkeys in Turkey. Ruins were still super neat though!
She picked up a bag and slipped it on, bouncing with excitement, wondering what sort of goodies they would find. Hmm, since they had jars, maybe they would be collecting bugs? Oh, she hoped it would be a cute bug!!

As Chance was handed a box, Mimi waited patiently, wondering what she would be handing out. She didn't have to wait long as she was handed another box.. with food! Yay food!! Yay ham and cheese sandwiches! And apples!!

Mimi bounced from person to person, handing out sandwiches and fruit and water.
"And I'm Mimi! I'm also in Sun Division!!"
If her hands weren't full, she would have waved as well, but instead, she smiled brightly at everyone.
"I hope we can all get along!"

"Nice to meet you Oliver." Clyde shook his hands firm and strong. He had a small buzz of excitement about him. "Yes I'm new... moon division." he said because apparently that sort of stuff was important around here.

It seemed they were moving. He listened to the directions and eyeballed the supplies. Clyde then turned to gather his supplies. He took the extra bag and shoved it along with everything else into his bag for now. "Thank you for the food." Even if he was going to save it for later having someone feed him was always a good feeling. Clyde had a certain knowledge of how hard food could be to get. He took one of each sandwich and an apple along with water. water was always important.

After gathering his supplies, he turned to the group. "I'm Clyde Pierce. Moon division trainee. Nice to meat you all." Clyde took note of Mimi's name alone with Chance and Sherrie's. He would also take not of everyone's name who announced it, though it was unlikely he would be able to remember everyone.

Once all the introductions were done and out of the way, he stepped though the portal with everyone else.

"No worries if you do!" Sherry told Oliver. "It's all about the research today!"

That was kind of a lie. While the research was important, her favorite part was exploring.

She watched as everyone got their things, and she made a point of writing down all their names. Sherry had no intention of forgetting anyone on the way back.

It felt too early for the excitement that seemed to be bubbling up in a few of the other hunters. Especially that Mimi girl. Though Momo wouldn't have a hard time remembering that girls name since it was just one letter of difference of her own.

"Momo Hayashi." She stifled a yawn before grabbing the provided supplies. "Mist Division trainee." If they wanted to know more about her they could ask. She wasn't feeling up to supplying small talk unless prompted. With that she stepped through the portal.

Oh good, a trio of probably much too socially aware people in the same space. The return wave to Chance was distracted and quick rather than something more characteristically exuberant as he busied himself finishing off the poptart. Downside: so many crumbs.

As Sherry explained what they were going to do, Dawson tried to be attentive. Even though saying Turkey meant his mind jumped to the not-a-country version. God, he wanted a giant turkey legg from the Ren Faire...When she said they were going to go underground, he gulped. It'd be his first mission doing anything of the sort, and after Chris' cave in, he couldn't help but be a bit nervous. But Sherry had to know what she was doing, right?

She had sandwiches.

She totally knew what she was doing. God damn, she went out of her way making them for everyone...? Dawson made a mental note to return the favor sometime after this.

Mm-ing in response to Scout, he grabbed his things, carefully bundled the sandwich away for later, and coughed out a, "Dawson Grace, Moon," for the crowd. Glancing at the frightened dude with them with a small but friendly smile, he then looked to Scout for the go ahead for the portal as she had been quietly appointed leader for now.

Scout covered her smile as Dawson perked up around the food. He was so simple sometimes.

"My name is Scout ... I'm a mist trainee ..." she said quietly before following Dawson's lead out. The faster she didn't have to interact with people, the better.

Nora smiled as her fellow Suns handed out the supplies, commenting to Mimi in particular, "Seems you're returning the favor for the sweets from earlier, eh?" as she took the sandwiches. "Thank you, dear." Later, she figured. Best not to eat now and try to go hiking around old ruins on pain of an upset stomach.

"Nora, Sun, and now temporary tomb raider," she introduced herself before striding into the portal with confidence.

Feng spent most of Sherry's little speech struggling with the provided backpack. Did his arm go through this string? Both strings? Why couldn't he reach to get his other arm in? He tried to make a little fuss as possible off to the side, but it was hard to hide when you towered over most the group.

Eventually, after much twisting, he was settled with his sandwiches, flashlight, and bag and was ready to go.

Oliver's handshake was surprisingly firm for his skittish mannerisms, but he wasn't as fragile as he looked. Certainly not with Arorangi dragging him around enthusiastically, not to mention having to survive other hazards relating to life on the island.

"N-nice to meet you too," he added shyly.

Once he was free from Aro's firm grasp, he took the opportunity to drop into the background and steady his nerves while everyone else did introductions. With any luck it would be a calm mission. He might even avoid throwing up from sheer anxiety.

He took a deep breath and stepped through the portal once the first chance presented itself.
