He started laughing a little bit, "Or bring makeup remover." He added with a simple shrug as if he didn't mind in the slightest that he to remove off all the pesky bits.
He nodded when she said it was Tokala, "We could always blame the fact I'm fairly hungry too." He was in fact since the flight didn't offer much and he hadn't really ate a lot before leaving either. He'd been too nervous and busy.
He paused when she asked what'd been going on. "The usual stuff. I'm not really sure there's much you missed that hasn't been out of the ordinary. Few purification, some corruptions. Zee was up to weird mirror stuff, apparently there had been shards of nightmare crystal or something left behind from Helena and her crew. Supposedly the Dark mirrors starseeds are mirror coated I'm not sure what that says besides the fact they're not part of Zee and Helena's people. . . " He rolled his shoulders.
He looked at her, "I'd been kind of staying away from a lot unless it was dire. Knights got a ring upgrade we can send you guys messages to your phones and call you - sorta I think." He paused, "The cats also got a communication device?" He said with a small shrug.

She grinned a little more with his suggestion. Lipstain or makeup remover. Either worked, and he didn't sound nearly as worried or opposed to future lipstick stains as she thought it might have been.
"But then when we get back and you eat like a horse they'd know you were a liar." She teased, lifting a hand long enough to sway a finger at him in a tsk tsk motion before returning it to the wheel. "Heck, even if we did stop and get you something you'd still probably eat like a horse when we get back."
The tension in her shoulders relaxed a little as he spoke. That wasn't as bad as she'd been expecting. Of course.. he could very well be lying or sugar coating but she choose to believe him. "That's great to hear about the purifications." She stated matter of factly. Aurora wished she could have been there to help in that regard but luckily there were others back in Destiny that had been busy at work. She filed away the information about nightmare crystals and Dark mirrors, she'd have to ask around about that.
"Did something happen...?" She asked lightly as he mentioned staying away from powering up. Either something must have happened or her own departure had helped cause it, she was sure. It just wasn't like him to not be responsible.. to not have that desire to protect.

He nodded, "AHAH I'd still eat like a horse. You know how I eat." He said, "I know good cooking when I get to taste it. I've had to cook for a yearrrr Aurora. Do you know how much I ended up being able to fix?" He teased, "I was like Tim Allan on the Santa Clause and had to go to Jenny's to eat."
He nodded, "Yaknow with everyone gained sometimes we lose one or two." He said with a sigh, "But things've seem up a little bit."
He paused thinking, "Not really? I don't know I found myself sitting staring up at the North Star. If there wasn't anything going on." He shrugged a little bit, "Not to mention there was a trip to Mistral where everyone got ring upgrades... Apparently it ended as a fairly large tragedy. Snowball got hit in the head with a pitcher by another Knight. He was apparently trying to stop her killing a Negaverse officer. . . who apparently wasn't fighting back?" He shrugged softly.
"Not that, that stopped me. I just." He shrugged, "I don't know." There were nights he just didn't feel like powering up, nor did he feel up to it. Though he was teetering talking about the nightmares. "Though. . . " He paused, "Eh there were some days I didn't rest well either."

His movie reference went over her head, and it was pretty obvious from the quick but confused glance she gave him. "I can only imagine what you've been eating. Lots of fast food and microwavables I bet." She teased. "Snowball better not be a giant round ball of fat from eating too much junky food." She warned playfully, though obviously she knew exactly what the cat looked like having secretly talked to him just a couple of hours before.
Aurora nodded a little at his sentiment, trying to take solace in the fact that some good had come even if there had been some bad, and hopefully it was as Azzo had said, that the good outweighed the bad, even if only by a little bit.
Her shoulders shrunk a little as he answered her question, her fingers fidgeting on the wheel. It had been her fault after all...
Polaris had left and he had lost his light. Been distracted, depressed even, just as she had been. She'd never really thought that Niflhel was the sort that needed guiding or reassurance, but perhaps they were all that way deep down. Had her other friends, knights, and (ex?) teammates suffered the same because of her departure?
"A tragedy...?" It wasn't that much of a question, more so a statement as she filed away the snip of information. "Poor Snowball, I know he's been trying so hard."
Coming up to a stop sign, she had a moment to give him her full attention, turning her head to give him a sad and apologetic look. "I'm so sorry this has been so hard on you. It really was selfish of me. I should have tried to come back sooner or.. something..."
"I didn't mean to hurt you or cause you pain or sleepness nights." She was doing her very best to keep the tears that wanted to escape her from falling. Eyes on the road. Safety first.

Azzo's brow lofted, "Okay we're going to watch that when we get home then. I think you'd like it." He said catching that she didn't understand the reference. "Yeahhh... I've been buying salads..." He just didn't say what went into those salads and sat there looking as if he had his hand caught in the cookie jar,
"HA, he eats like I do. I'm surprised he's not. He must run it off romping around the city. I'm surprised he hasn't pulled Merlin into his little stunts of begging for food at the back doors of places they know us."
He sighed and shook his head.
He paused, "Yeahhhh.... we upgraded the knight rings but apparently lost fellow knights in the process." He nodded and laughed, "I told him next time to not get into trouble and call me. So maybe he wouldn't get hurt. I was watching a play at the time."
He paused, they were still at the stop sign he scooted over beside her so he was sitting in the middle. His hand rested on her shoulder, "It's not your fault. You know the things I deal with sometimes at night. It... just got worse than normal, so it was harder to focus on anything besides something that was comforting. Besides you needed to take care of your father and brothers. At least one of us is close to our family. I'd done the same thing if it was Grams." He looked at her sternly. "You don't apologize for that. Family first okay? We might all feel like family being in this stupid war but your father brought you into this world it was only fair you see him out."

"A movie night sounds like fun." She mused, just as excited about the prospect of cuddling up on the couch with Azzo, Merlin, and Snowball sharing popcorn and snacks as she was with the actual movie.
"Salads huh? I guess I should be impressed." She could see that look on his face though "My poor cat, begging for food like an undignified ruffian."
Playfulness aside the moment sombered as he moved closer to her.
It was a good thing that they were at a stop sign in the middle of Alaska as opposed to a busy city because his words of comfort were so sweet that they pushed past her defenses and she began to cry. There were tears of sadness and loss but they were mixed with tears of relief and of adoration as well. At least she had the presence of mind to put the truck into park.
"You're too good to me." She sniffled as she tried to collect herself.

He smiled, "Well of course it does, it's something we haven't been able to do in a while. I'll spoil you with any other movies you want to watch too. Maybe a trip to the theater to watch one of the new ones?" He paused, "I'm pretty sure Merlin and Snowball can join us in those by now." He tried not to give a cough.
He paused, "Yeah Salads! I've been sorta good." There was another moment before he amended her statement, "I think it's more in the mind of begging for food like a spoiled brat, and teaching others. He's no Robin Hood but he's got friends tagging along." He looked irritated at this idea. "Cat's smarter than us."
He sighed when she started to cry and he pulled her close into a hug. "It'll be alright." He said softly with a sigh. Looking around, thankful she put the truck in park but still they were in the road. He smashed the flashers for extra measure. "Ahah, I'm not too good to you." He said looking at her. "Hopefully I'm as good as you deserve, because you only deserve the best Princess." He kissed her cheek softly looking at her.
"Come on I know it's been rough but they already think we're joy riding." He tried to make her feel better by attempting a light joke, "What if you're brother's forming a search party complete with a shot gun? After all he hasn't met me yet."

It actually wasn't that surprising that the Guardian had better luck than they did. Animals were unassuming. Everyone (or at least everyone worth being around) liked animals. "Being cute goes a long way. Fluffy, cuddly doesn't hurt either." She joked softly.
"I'm fine, I'm fine." Aurora tried to assure him, as she continued to try and wipe away the last of the tears. "I think my emotions have been bottled a bit lately."
"Good thing you're so good at making girls cry." She tried to joke.
Digging out tissues to dry the last of her tears, she nodded. "We're less then 10 minutes out, we'll be there soon. Do I look like a mess?" Between crying and making out there was no telling really.

He nodded chuckling, "That's true. He needs to behave though I've told him this. Though he still sticks his nose up at my cookin. I didn't think I was that bad." Actually in truth Azzo knew better, he'd never be as good of a cook as Aurora.
He looked at her like he didn't believe her, "Don't tell me we're going to have to watch emotional gooshy movies to make you feel better." He teased back. "You know how I feel about those."
He paused and looked a little taken back, ". . . don't tell them they'll beat me up for making their sister cry." He said once he figured out she was joking.
Azzo's head tilted as he looked at her and smiled, "You look prefect to me." Of course he could tell she had been crying since makeup was a horrible tattle tell but he just kept smiling anyways.

"No, I think I've had my fair share of emotional things lately." She laughed and sniffled at the same time. "Well.. maybe just 1 or 2 romantic comedies...." She trailed of with the vague 'threat' of intense boredom for poor Azzo.
Based on the tissues in her hands, tinted with a little foundation and mascara, she knew he was lying to her. But it was a good lie, and she didn't fight him on it giving his arm a soft squeeze before she finally resettled in her seat.
Flasher turned off, she finally shifted out of park and took the turn that would lead them off the main road and out towards the family ranch.
"Are you nervous? There are so many of them.. they can get a little overwhelming." She warned tentitavely. "I'll protect you though." She mused. It was a joke, but only time would tell just how true it ended up being. She didn't particularly think they'd try to cause trouble, but she had A LOT of brothers. And things could get a little hectic with that many siblings in one place.

He chuckled as well, "Ohhh nooo romantic comedies..." He said in a dramatic flair, "What shall I ever do?"
He smiled when she was finally able to get them going again. There was a moment where he was thinking when she asked him if he was nervous. ". . . Are they worse than the negaverse?" He asked after a few seconds sounding completely serious.
"Because if they're not I'm pretty sure I can handle them. If they are.... welp I might just be in over my head. But we'll see~" He was making a slight joke, even if it could've been considered a bad one. Though he figured if he could handle the negaverse, why couldn't he handle her brothers?

The road got a little more bumpy as they turned onto the long gravel path that would lead the rest of the way to the ranch. Not super bumpy, but enough to signal the change in lane, and slowly but surely the sight of a large ranch house appeared in the distance. A couple of barns were scattered across the horizon, but for the most part it was just sprawling stubby grass and low hills, and plenty of buffalo grazing peacefully.
When he made his joke she turned to look at him, her lips pulling to a stern little frown, brows knitting. The familiar naggy look might have even been comforting had it not been for the general annoyance that was apparent at him comparing her brothers to the negaverse.
She knew he was joking however, so after a moment of her 'You are in so much trouble mister' look, she finally rolled her eyes away and back towards the road. "You are NOT allowed to summon your weapon on or use it against my brothers. No matter how much you might want to."
The ranch house grew larger and larger the closer they got, until finally she pulled in alongside the other car and truck. Shutting the truck off she dug first for her purse and the compact inside, inspecting her face and trying to doing a quick touch up. When she was done, she looked up once more giving him a smile. "It'll be fine. You'll like it, and you'll like them. I've been keeping them in line my own life."

Azzo was laughing, even though that look was terrifying when she gave him that 'you're in trouble' look it was still funny. "What do you think I'm Crazy. I never said anything about summoning my weapon." He smiled.
He waited for her to finish primping. "I still think you look fine." He said arms behind his head, "I feel like that's an if we don't get along you're grounding everyone statement." He wouldn't put that past her either. When she was done and seemed ready he hopped out of the truck and moved over to the driver side to help her out, "M'lady." He offered his hand up as if it was a fancy coach.

"Grounding sounds about right." She stated matter of factly. Though the idea was fairly laughable considering the youngest of the group was 15 and 3 of the 5 were legitimately 'adults'. Not that being an 'adult' made any difference when it came to siblings though.
She took the offered hand and help out of the truck when he presented it, bowing daintily when she was finally on the ground. Her playful motion was cut short however when a voice startled her out of it. "So you're alive after all?" The statement came from the direction of a nearby trough. The person it belonged to, Tokala, was busily fussing with the insulated cord that worked the small water heater. He'd seen pictures of Azzo of course, and heard plenty about him from his sister. But nonetheless, he took a brief moment to size up the other guy, before offering a nod of greeting. "The boys are still out making the rounds. You think about an hour and a half for dinner? We should be done by then." She felt bad being so playful, considering the somber mood that had overtaken the ranch over the past couple of months. "That'll be fine." Aurora stated dutifully. "I'll help Azzo drop his stuff off in the guestroom and then I'll get started on dinner."
Taking Azzo's wrist she motioned towards the house.

Azzo paused when he heard the voice, Aurora having been startled from her playful bow. He lofted a brow before pulling his stuff out the truck bed.
He was trying to decide what to say because he was sure that Tokala wasn't impressed with that little display either. However, Azzo was playing it about as cool as he could. Whispering to her, "Thats.... which one?" He obviously didn't want to start off without not knowing who was who.
"I can help with dinner, Aurora." He added so that Tokala could hear him.
