Areya and Xavier had turned to start their search when she looked up to see the intruder running right at her. She was a bit shocked at his brazen behavior and curious to see what he would do. As he got closer she saw him blow a kiss at her and continue past her before disappearing into the black mist that was around his hand. She wasn’t surprised to see he had magical powers; after all it was rare beings without it found their way onto the estate. He had no idea though even with those powers he would not be able to leave the mansion because she had already taken care of that before she had left her office.

Areya looked around for the man not knowing exactly what his power did for him. She spotted him on the ceiling of all places and headed for the entrance door to the mansion. Still thinking it was the one intruder Areya stood there with Xavier watching to see what the man would do when he realized the barrier around the mansion wouldn’t let him out the door. The power of the barrier was indeed unique because it wouldn’t let anyone use magic against it, to get around it, or even to portal through it, basically all power was negated when it came to the barrier, even Areya’s own powers wouldn’t work on it.

That being as it may Areya waited for him to realize the predicament he was in and then use the power of the house to literally stop him in his tracks. She squeezed Xavier’s arm to let him know she was speaking to him and said “It seems the fox has come to us instead.” She smiled and also thought to herself that she may just like working with this man and is wildly abandoning ways.

Flint, Steele, and Dietrich Stasis

As Steele got closer to the exit, he felt his frequency begin to change and he quickly returned to the ground before placing his hand on the hilt of his katana. He wanted to know what kind of trick was being played on him. There wasn't much that could stop him from using his gifts, not even the things he was meant to hunt. His eyes then shifted towards the red haired woman, as if he were looking for an explanation. He couldn't even tell where his siblings were.

Dietrich looked up and around from his seat before rushing out to where he had last seen Flint. "Flint!" He called out. "Where the hell is Steele?" Flint looked around for a moment and blinked. "Oh s**t..." Frantically, they both bolted towards the foyer and with a sigh of relief quickly made their way over to him. "We'll just see ourselves out." Dietrich said before running into what seemed like a wall, yet seeing nothing. "Scratch that. We'll find some seats."

Steel looked over at Flint and began moving his hands in an odd fashion, then attempted to touch the door, only to have his hand repelled. "So, we're going to die in here?" Steel nodded lightly as he looked at the floor, then up at his older brother. "We should have knocked off the other place like you said, huh?" Steele nodded again. "Can we blame Deet?" Steele shook his head. Flint nodded, then turned towards the redhead with a nervous smile. "Water under the bridge?"

Areya watched as the man stopped in his tracks and returned to the floor in a defensive stance. He seemed a bit befuddled to her. She could guess that he was trying to figure out why his magic no longer worked this close to his supposed exit. When he looked directly at her she gave a slight smile and nod to let him know she was indeed the reason he couldn’t escape.

Then two more men ran into the foyer and right up to the first man. She watched their exchange but was also a bit befuddled herself. Areya could usually tell how many people were in the mansion at any given time. And since she knew exactly who was there at present she should have been able to tell there had been more than one intruder. Maybe, she thought to herself, they were brothers or close cousins. If their bond was close enough that might possibly hide the presence of more than one person; considering them one being instead of three.

Areya first looked at Xavier and stated, “It seems we have three foxes instead of one. Do you suppose they are as calm as they look?” While waiting for his response Areya looked over at Morrigan to see an unspoken sign or words from her about whether she knew there had been more than one intruder and if she knew there might be any others besides the three in front of them now. As a precaution during her exchange with Morrigan and Xavier, Areya tapped her foot on the floor. This caused the floor around the three men to come up to just below their knees to hold them in place and a slab to come up behind them in case they literally wanted to take the seat the one man had mentioned doing. After all she didn’t want them trying to run off before she could have a polite conversation with them about the time they were going to end up spending here on the estate.

Dødette Ragnarok

Intel:

Location: outside, front entrance
Presence: singular

Dødette had been planning for a vacation for years, and had, throughout the entire time, meant to take it. But her particular line of work was always unpredictable, and she tolerated that for the hefty salary it brought her. Alas, saving up was not the problem, ever. She was not rich, but nowhere near destitute. In any case, she'd finally managed to find a lull in work, and for once, this was good news. Travelling back to Earth to the spot where she'd be taking her break was only a slight catch, evading territorial patrols was never too hard - she never used the same spacecraft twice in the little corner of the galaxy where Earth and its forces called home.

She was chauffeured to the Stormbringer Estate in an SUV type of car driven by a certain delivery guy known by one of the many people Dødette had a business tie to. Getting used to vehicles with wheels was always an interesting part of being back on this planet.

"For its name, the place has some fairly clear weather tonight, she thought to herself. "Might as well use it to my advantage and get my bags in." She made arrangements with the driver before she stepped out of the car, then took her luggage out of the back of the vehicle: a large backpack, a black, metallic-looking, average-sized suitcase, and large duffel bag. She put the backpack on, then put her left arm through both straps of the duffel bag and slung it on over her left shoulder, lastly holding it in place with her left hand. Dødette tipped the driver, and he slowly took off down the road as she picked up the suitcase and headed through the gate. She surveyed the front of the mostly inconspicuous building, as well as looking to everything else in sight, studying it all as she neared the front entrance.

Her current outfit was casual, at least where she normally resided - she hadn't been too sure of what the dress code was, if there was one. Not that she was unwilling to fit into one, but neither was keen on following dress codes either. She knew the things considered casual where she lived sometimes registered as being very dressy on Earth, and she was fond of using this to sometimes be slightly lazy. This laziness was almost never recognized by native Earth inhabitants - anyone who did recognize either gave her some kind of patronization or some signal that they were amused she was doing the same thing they were doing.

Dødette wore a simple gray tunic-esque top that draped and swung lightly, with a black cropped tank top underneath. The bottoms of her dark gray capri pants, adorned on the outer side seams with single sport-styled black lines, were stuffed into black, minimally armor plated, knee-high boots. The chrome-colored panels gave small glints in whatever light that caught them. Her black hair was not styled in any way - she never wore it pulled back unless she was working, and since she worked often, it was allowed to be itself for once. As for makeup, it was minimal despite the same fact that she was not working - she kept it to a minimal normally, and put more effort into it on her off days. But she had arrived towards the end of the day, and saw no sense in putting more on just to take it off before she would sleep sooner or later.

The rhythmic thud of her boots slowed as she reached the entrance, and gave two quick rings at the doorbell. Dødette knew someone had to come promptly, as every single window was brightened from the inside. She momentarily did a small smirk and thought, "High electric bill."

Speaking so frequently of foxes summons them…or at least, it did so in this case. But this particular being; who was now padding along the hem of a wall upon soundless paws, had more of a motive in mind than thievery. No, she was here because she sensed potential danger. Though, Samarah was pleased to note that the mistress of the mansion was currently in no need of protection.

While Areya was entertaining her three new ‘guests’, and everyone’s attention was averted towards them; she would cross the foyer in an area which should’ve been in plain sight. One would expect others to react towards the appearance of a large nine-tailed fox, whose head was easily shoulder high when she paused nearby Xavier. Yet this ethereal soul was not so simple to notice, especially in the direct sense. She may choose to be glimpsed out the corner of one’s eye; but the second one attempts to catch sight again, that shimmering figure is nowhere to be found. Equal to that, nor could she be heard. But that doesn’t mean she is incapable of influencing the world around her, most especially when it comes to protecting her charge.

Sammy chose to wander no further and sat down, one of nine magnificently-kempt tails curling nonchalantly around her paws. She eyed the three interlopers mistrustfully. Who are they to so brazenly intrude, for all the good it did them? Samarah flicked an ear and turned to observe the others from over her shoulder, craning her neck a bit. She recognized them of course, and did not see them as sources of threat…indeed, they seemed more likely to help rather than hinder. Or, perhaps they’d rather not interfere with this situation whatsoever. She didn’t pretend to know what lingered within their thoughts.

Readjusting her transparent gaze back towards the triad of cornered men, the kitsune sighed intangibly, and abandoned her dignified posture. She slumped unceremoniously to the floor and curled up; nose buried in the ends of her many tails. Whether or not the others here could detect a vague disturbance in the atmosphere was not a subject for concern. Samarah was purely here to make certain that no one under this roof shall come to harm.

---------------------------------------------------------------

[ OOC /// IMPORTANT: For strictly plot related reasons, do not, under any circumstances (unless stated otherwise by myself or Areya), claim that your character is able to perceive Samarah directly. She is currently only able to be glimpsed as a ghostly figure out the corner of one's eye. Claiming that your character can sense a fleeting, indistinct presence is one thing, but kindly make no extraordinary claims about a being able to solidly perceive a being which doesn't fully exist on this plane yet.

This is something which will eventually change, but please understand why I'm saying this. I am in no way attempting to godmod.]

Xavier came to a stop beside Areya, his glowing amethyst eyes forward on the three men trapped in place. He squinted his eyes to better make out their faces, analyzing their features. After a small pause, he looked back to Areya with a tiny grin. If was obvious what he was thinking about, experimenting on the poor intruders. Not that he'd ever hurt them, but he was always looking for someone other than the nurse to try out the things he came up with.

"I think they are calm, Lady Areya. It seems like they have accepted their inability to escape." He replied to her, snickering under his breath. He waved a quick hand through his chocolate hair before looking back to the men. This was when a chill went down his spine, as if there was another presence in the room that he couldn't see. This, of course, would be no surprise to him, since there were plenty of strange things that happened around the Estate. It was something he was used to due to the many years he had been there.

Xavier looked down to the silvery trinket on his wrist and gasped. It surely was late, but he didn't expect it to be as late as it was. He had made some time for a new item he was working on, but it seems he bypassed most of it. "I apologize, Lady Areya. I have a new trinket I am working on in my room so I must depart for now. I do hope your evening goes well. Please do stop by later and check on my progress, I'd love to have some company."

With that said, Xavier turned and disappeared back down the hall way. Although he was curious what would happen to the men that infiltrated the Estate, his project was more important to him right now. If he didn't put time into it now, it may never get done. And on top of that, he needed to stop by the Infirmary to pick up a few things.

Areya watched as Xavier quickly walked away to go about his business. Although she had known this man all of her life, there were still many mysteries to him she had yet to learn. She knew he loved his trinkets and being the doctor at the estate, he loved his experiments but would never actually harm someone on purpose, and yet she still did not know why he came to the estate in the first place or what the reason was that kept him here. And even though she cared for him like an uncle she didn’t try to learn any of these other things because she didn’t want to get to close to him.

About the time that he was preparing to leave Areya felt two things happen. One a presence in the room, most people felt it as a cold presence and maybe it was but to Areya it felt like a warm embrace. Any time she felt this presence she knew that everything was alright. The second was a presence outside the door directly behind the men in front of her. She knew right away this was a guest that wasn’t due until the next day but was early which did happen on occasion. She knew she needed to wrap things up quickly so she could take down the barrier and let the new guest in.

She looked the three men up and down watching them intently. Areya waved over the Mistress of Keys and whispered to her. After she went running to the office, Areya walked a few steps closer to the men. Careful not to get to close for she could tell they were still dangerous if not more so in there state. She tapped her foot once again to have a table of sorts and a seat for her rise up. Areya took the seat just as the Mistress of Keys returned with a rolled up scroll tied with a ribbon and an antique looking fountain pen. As old as the scroll looked and the deep yellowing of the paper you could tell it was ancient, but to hold it in your hands it felt sturdy and new. She unrolled it, laid it flat on the table and turned it to face the men and then laid the fountain pen on top of it.

Addressing the three men at once she said “I don’t know of you reasons for coming here nor how you were able to get on the estate in the first place. But it is known you came here with ill intentions. Here in this place I am judge, jury, and executioner. Therefore I am giving you three options. One, you sign this contract on the right side and become residents of the estate for a term of six years. Your duties will include entertaining the guests and any other menial task I see fit. Two, you can sign the contract on the left side and become staff of the estate for a term of three years. I’m thinking that we may just need some new security measures since you have happened upon us. And three, well let’s just say I’m sure you don’t want option three.” Areya watched the men closely as she divulged the last few bits of information to them, “I must warn you of something before you sign. Time moves differently here. So if you chose option one, thirty years will have passed in the outside world and if you chose option two, only fifteen years will have passed. Plus if you do sign the contract this pen will do it in your blood. If you’re not aware of a blood contract just know this, try and break the contract in any way or form and your life will be immediately forfeit resulting in your death.” Areya pushed the contract towards the men. She sat back to allow them a moment to discuss their options and await their decision hoping it wouldn’t take long because she had a new guest to attend to.

Flint, Steele, and Dietrich Stasis

Dietrich listened to everything the red haired woman had stated and he tilted his head, then leaned towards Flint. "Why does this sound like a watered down version of Steely's blood bond?" Flint tried not to chuckle and nodded a bit. "It does, but without the implication that still beating hearts may or may not be consumed. Plus, Gelekkri Blood Bonds are till two deaths do you part. That and he offers more benefits." Dietrich nodded lightly. "Medical, Dental, a living weapon that chews on the hearts of demons, access to certain properties... Did I mention tracking better than FedEX can give?" Flint almost lost his composure as Dietrich spoke, but it didn't happen until he mentioned tracking. "God Damn it Deet, I'm trying to take her serious here."

Dietrich looked over the papers and arched a brow. "First off, We're Children of Gelekress, we know bonds better than the devil himself and we aren't afraid of him, so you've not had an intimidation factor from the get-go." Flint nodded and held his hand out to Steele as the middle child handed him a book. "Because we were born under the same astral sign and from the same origin altogether, we can and do share the same bond made collectively from our needs. This bond basically states the same thing yours does, but forgoes any right you think you have to make us do something outside of our moral values or personal codes. It also states that the forfeit of lives can go either way, but should it be yours, your life will be divided as such: Dietrich gains possession or your flesh, Flint, the energies and spiritual bonds that hold the soul to the body, and Steele, Steele gets to decide where your soul goes, and as to whether or not he eats your still beating heart."

The kitsune opened one eye when Xavier took his leave; speaking of trinkets, and mentioning that he would appreciate some company later. There was a minute where she thought of going to see what this man was up to, but she paused. Upon hearing what the brothers had to say, Samarah raised her head and stared at them. If only one could see this [removed](also, if kitsunes could manipulate their facial muscles in the manner humans do), it would be more of a, '...Seriously? THAT'S what you're going with?'- look. Though at the crux of it, she sincerely disliked what was being said. This sounded far too much like certain situations she'd been in herself. That being said, there's always a loophole. Especially when either party becomes overconfident and believes they've won the game before it reaches it's adolescent phase.

For the unknowable amount of time she had existed, humans and other beings always found a way to keep her entertained; whether they knew this or not was immaterial. She had come across so very many of them who make large, unwieldy claims; often without coming to fully grasp the situation. There had been many who she chose to reveal herself to, usually when searching for her next ward. Most of those people she appeared to tried to arrest her soul, that they may reap her power for their own benefit. Often, those situations landed with Samarah rolling on the ground in fits of hysterics. Typically because the uninformed mortals would discover--entirely too late, might one add--that there wasn't a damn thing they could do to achieve the desired outcome.

Averting her gaze back towards Areya, Sam wondered if she would actually have to involve herself. For now at least, there was no need. The young woman can defend herself, and she seemed confident in her control over the situation as of current.

Dødette Ragnarok

Intel:

Location: outside, front entrance
Presence: singular

Dødette began to grow impatient whilst standing outside. Unknowing of the exact details of why the storms happened around the Estate, she also became slightly concerned she and her luggage would soon be drenched. Normally, she would have used her skills to slink about and find out what the situation was. But she made a conscious effort to put those sorts of thoughts out of her mind and instead reflected for a moment about how her instincts could almost be said to portray that her job worked her, instead of the other way around. She looked down to her armored combat boots, then up to the sky, and lastly back to the doors in front of her. "Are they picky about people arriving early or something..? I suppose it would be better to be early than late, though. Anything for an extra day off."

She whistled absent-mindedly until she heard the voices inside. She raised an eyebrow momentarily, then began to listen to the muffled interaction, still audible to her heightened sense of hearing. It sounded like she'd arrived right after the action took place, or perhaps even at the peak of it. She released her left hand from the side of the duffel bag slung over her left shoulder, and switched the metal suitcase from her right hand to her left, lastly planting her right hand on her hip, keeping an attentive ear on the proceedings inside. Dødette contemplated ringing the doorbell again. She knew she would not be doing it again - she had a clean reputation here and this was her vacation, so she was not intent on tarnishing or ruining either by possibly acting a manner deemed faux pas.

Areya leaned forward placing her elbows on the table. She clasped her hands together and laid her chin on top of them. With a slight smile in the corner of her mouth she again thought to herself that her first impression of the one that sat quietly watching their exchange was right, but now there were two more she was sure she would like. Then she asked, “Who said anything about intimidating you? Do I look like someone who would be a danger to you?” Her smile grew larger. “I was merely leaving the third option of immediate death out because it was something I thought you noble looking gentlemen wouldn’t consider.” Areya raised a brow at them with a full blown smile now.

“So, she said placing her hands on the table and leaning forward, “if I’m understanding you correctly, I sign your contract agreeing not to have you do things out of your moral codes and personal values and you sign mine agreeing to stay on at the estate for the estimated time depending on which side you chose, am I correct?” Areya wondered how strict their codes and values were if they could break into someone’s home to steal. Not that she would ever ask them to do anything she wouldn’t do and she was damn sure there were things they would do that she wouldn’t. She also wondered what they would try to do if she were to tell them no. She wasn’t afraid of them but she was curious. What the hell, she thought, the estate wouldn’t have let them in unless there was a good reason and she wasn’t about to let them get away from her before she could get to know them. She Ignored another thought about curiosity killing the cat, "I agree," Areya said and reached out to take the book and sign where they designated her to then slid her contract a little closer to them for their signatures.

Flint, Steele, and Dietrich Stasis

Steele picked up the papers and read them over a few times, then looked over at the book they presented to her. Did she think she was done? No, she still had three more 'forms' to sign in order to seal their contract for her 'benefits' so to speak. He held up a finger and then removed his tanto from its sheathe, cutting into Dietrich's hand, then poking three small holes in Flint's wrist. Afterward, Dietrich spoke up. "Mm, before you think you're out of the woods, there's the actual binding. Part of the whole, having weapons on legs things. We know where you are at all times, and you know where we are at all times. You call for us, we can hear you from anywhere and what have you. Ya know, for protection and collections purposes." Flint nodded. "Also, should you pass from this world and reincarnate, we can find you once afterward and you not have to do this all over again if that's what you will. Anytime after that, you've lost us."

Dietrich held out his hand and Flint did the same. As for Steele, he simply kept his eyes on her. With Flint's minding, he simply strengthened the bonds of his keeper's soul with his own, Dietrich cleansed the body of impurities with his blood, but Steele was far different. The bond the middle child made was said to be tight enough to where he could give his own life away to prevent his keeper from dying, but the burdens that came with his bond often drove people mad.

Areya watched as the first one she had encountered picked up her contract and seemed to read it over, almost like he was delaying something. The contract itself was pretty simple, neat, an organized. After all it wasn’t really a necessity when most people found they were welcome to stay. They were happy to take the opportunity. Those that wandered in and ended up signing usually wanted to get away from the outside world for awhile anyhow. Areya was wondering at this point if they were having second thoughts and she wasn’t happy with that idea. For some reason she felt the need for them to be there.

Then the silent grey streaked one set the papers down and pulled his knife looking thing from its sheath, Areya stepped back in surprise. That’s when he cut into the one and poked holes into the wrist of the other. Her eyes grew wider as the one with the green steak spoke to her explaining things weren’t quite done with them. This was not what she had in mind when they mentioned their contract. A bond with them, total strangers made her start to second guess her decision. She never let anyone get close and now these three were proposing knowing where she was at all times. What else would they know or could they do with this bond she thought. Then the one with the blue steak spoke up. Again he said things that made her feel completely out of her element.

Areya felt backed into a corner now. She had already signed their book and yet she was sure she didn’t want to share any kind of bond. She could feel the silent one with the grey steak’s eyes on her. It was decision time and all she could do was stand there and stare back into those eyes. She felt it almost into her soul that something wasn’t being said, that a vital part might have been left out. Areya’s heart was racing with fear and adrenaline. She had to do something, but there really was no other option. She knew they were here for a purpose and that she needed them to remain. Sending out a small prayer to all the Gods and Goddesses of the universe, in the past, present, future and just to be on the safe side from all the different worlds too, Areya stepped forward again. As she did she tapped the floor to allow the three men a release from it but kept the table up between them and herself. She nodded and said, “What exactly is it you need me to do?” Then let out a long slow breath centering herself for what they might ask.

Flint, Steele, and Dietrich Stasis

Flint shrugged a bit and looked over at Dietrich. "A simple shake of the hand is all we need." Dietrich nodded. "Nothing else to that on your end. Eh, actually, you might feel a slight pinch." Flint looked over at Steele and arched a brow. "Steely, are you having second thoughts?" He asked. Steele arched a brow and lit a cigarette before extending his hand. He had no reason to go back on it, especially if it meant keeping an eye on the person who's roof they'd be living under for a matter of years.

Flint nodded a bit and looked back at the book, then at the woman. "Well, then madam. I think we've all come to the decision that we'll be staying here, not that dying doesn't sound intriguing, but we've still got matters to attend to after our little sentence here." Dietrich nodded. "Yeah, like explaining to pops why we were gone for God know's how long?" Flint nodded. "Yeah, best not to worry him or uncle Micah."

Areya looked at all three of the men as if they had just played a private prank on her. The corner of her mouth came up in a smile. That was until the one mentioned a slight pinch. Okay, she thought, she was never going to know when they were serious or when they were joking. She watched as the one they called Steel lifted his brow, lit a cigarette and extended his hand towards her. She absently listened to the two exchange words as she kept her eyes on the quiet one in front of her holding his hand out.

This was it, all she had to do was shake hands and the deal would be struck. Somehow it felt like making a bargain like this was going to be a life changer for her and the estate. All eyes on Areya she tapped the floor yet again with her foot making the table disappear and stepped forward. “My name, she said, “is Areya Stormbringer and this is the Stormbringer estate. Welcome and thank you for deciding to join us for the time you will be here." She gingerly reached her hand out to his and took it never letting her eyes leave his face while still listening to the other two talking.
