The cat purred as she was stroked, laying her ears back to streamline her head for the stroking.
As Europa began to speak of her part in the war thus far, Ash settled herself comfortably and, for once, was silent to listen. For the most part, she kept questions to herself so as not to interrupt. This was all recent history, and wonder of wonders, this girl had been there nearly since the beginning of the new campaign against Earth. Castor was the only person she knew of who knew more, and Europa seemed to agree.
Sailor Moon... the Moon Princess... The phrasing tickled at the back of her brain, but she was unable to get more than that from it. She was just... too young, probably. She hadn't been around long enough or talked to enough people to really understand that part of things. She wondered, though, what part those senshi had played in all of this.
"What were the Parallel senshi?" She prompted finally, lifting her head. "Who was Ares? I don't believe I've heard of any Parallel senshi, just Order, Corrupts and the Dark Mirrors."

Europa pursed her lips, trying to think of the best way to explain something that had happened so long ago, something she didn't fully understand herself. "Did you ever meet a guardian cat named Zirconia?" she asked, hoping that Ash might have some semblance of context before she really got to the meat of the issue. "The Parallel senshi were from an alternate universe. The other side of the looking glass, I guess is the appropriate metaphor?" It was all very Alice-in-Wonderland-y, after all. She glanced down, remembering the strangely lucid dream she'd had during her coma that time around. That had been called Wonderland, though she hadn't made it very far... "Their prince and princess died, but they left, um, Zirconia and Sailor Ares behind," she said, hand smoothing out Ash's fur. "Ares started a team called the Blood Moon Court, with the goal of destroying Chaos, but... the way Sailor Gunn told it, she became obsessed with this one general, and eventually plunged into Chaos herself and took half the court with her." "I was living with Leto at the time. She was my cousin, before. I caught her trying to recover some things from her room or something, the night the Dark Mirror was founded..." She sighed. "It all felt very important at the time. Very dramatic. I'm not sure anymore." Europa wasn't a princess. She wasn't a leader. And she wasn't going to be leading anyone out of darkness any sooner than she was going to succeed in killing them.

"Oh, I know Zirconia!" Ash burst out excitedly, squirming in her spot. "I met her a couple of time and we talked! I remember... She had two souls and was trying to send the one back to where it belongs. I was worried about it... It sounded like something that could hurt her a lot, you know? I haven't heard from her in a long time though. I wonder how that turned out..."
The guardian mused silently as Europa told her story, listening intently and putting together pieces with what she already knew. Most of this was new, really, but it was good she was hearing it now, rather than never. Some of her energy bled off, quieting her squirming.
"I'm sorry about your cousin." She said after a moment, tilting her head back to peer up at the senshi. It wasn't hard to relate to, not after recent events. "One of my senshi was caught at the masquerade on New Years. I found her later, but she had been corrupted and didn't know me."
It hurt, remembering. She had failed well and good, that time. She should have... Done more than she had. Surely there had been something she could have done to save Amphitrite... But there was nothing that could be done now. She had to come back on her own. Ash sought for a change of subject, taking them back to her history questions.
"What do you know of the war before everyone started awakening here? You know, back when the planets were still alive. Isn't that when it all started?"

Europa nodded, hooking her hair behind her ears. "I know a little," she said. "About as much as anyone who awakened around the same time as me." She settled her hands back onto Ash's back - Europa had never had a ton of experience with guardian cats, but they were wonderfully relaxing to talk to. "A thousand years ago, most of the galaxy was united under the rule of Queen Serenity and the White Moon Kingdom in a golden age called, ironically, the silver millennium." It all sounded like a fairytale, or maybe the plot of a Wachowski film. Europa doubted she'd have believed it if she hadn't come of age totally immersed in it. "Beryl was an Earthling girl who had a crush on the Moon Princess's boyfriend, so she made a deal with Chaos, lead a knight rebellion, and plunged the whole kingdom into darkness over a guy who wouldn't date her," she added. "The Moon Queen something something details are vague but everyone died and got reincarnated a thousand years in the future via the magic of the Space Cauldron, and now we get to pick up where we left off and duke it out with Chaos." She bit her lip. "Most days, it seems like Chaos is still winning."

The story Europa told sounded very much like the plot line of a movie or young adult novel, and while it was slightly disappointing to heard that a war that had been going on for centuries had all started because of a love triangle, it also pleased her sense of dramatics and love of said young adult novels.
Ah well. It didn't much matter what her opinion of the cause of all this was, so much as what she, and her senshi, were going to do about it now. It didn't change much, knowing. It didn't make the Negaverse go away and it didn't win the war. They still had a long way to go yet, but at least there were good senshi like this girl to fight it. Like Aegir and Methone, Thraen and Castor. Her lovely, lovely warriors.
It made her proud to be a Guardian.
"Chaos only wins, Darling, when Order gives up the field." She chirped brightly, rising up to brace her paws on Europa's shoulder and give her an affectionate rub, cheek to cheek. "Don't give up hope. We're still here, still fighting. You're certainly not alone. We make a difference for the people here every day and will continue to do so."

"That it does," Europa nodded, leaning into the nuzzle. Guardian cats were so wonderful. She needed to hang out with them more, and in her own depressing head less. "I never thought I'd be filling a guardian cat in on the history of the war," she confessed. "It always seemed like you guys knew so much more than we did. Is there anything else I can help you with...? Or somewhere I can take you, so you don't have to chance that dog again?" Whimsical Blue This is getting short which I think is a sign we're near a wrap.

Ash sighed as she headbutted the senshi girl.
"I'm still rather new, I'm afraid... and I didn't really wake up knowing these things." She settled back to sit on her lap, looking pleased with her seat and Europa in general.
"If you have more things to share with me, I'd really like to hear everything you know about... well, anything! All information is good. If you wanted to take me home, or somewhere more comfortable, I would not say No." She chuckled, her tail curling lazily back and forth. "My tummy would also not say No to a little something to nom on? Are you up for some snacks?"
Ash offered a bright, wide-eyed look up, a feline smile across her face. So innocent, So cute! Feed the pretty kitty.

"Ah..." said Tallulah, wracking her brain. She was sure she knew more than what she'd told Ash, but she was at a loss for details right now. "Ask me again later, okay? I need to get my thoughts in order. As for dinner... well, I can definitely help with that." She picked the cat up and got carefully to her feet. "So... I'll take you home, and you can tell me all about what you like to eat."
