Thorn only started to blush now. They were NOT that far along in their relationship. He coughed but decided that perhaps now was not the time for more words. He had said his piece that was that. He chose to remain kneeling to so that Ime or her mother wouldn't feel intimidated. It put him at a convinient level for wrestling or whatever Ime chose to do to him, he wasn't sure what she had heard. He tilted his head down, not sure what to do or where to look, just waiting for the storm of whatever was coming.

There was no storm, just a brief spate of silence while Mama considered what to do. She had said her piece, she felt. She'd let the boy know that she was watching with the vague implication of some sort of punishment otherwise. She looked between the two... my, how Ime had grown. She was a woman now, living her own life. She could only hope that her only child wouldn't wander too far from home.
"I can take care of the pot, Ime. Why don't you two go out for a while?"
Ime just stood there a moment, considered her options, and nodded.
"Come on, Thorn. We can go see the capramels." She offered a hand out for him to take. There were no secrets now, were there? So much for trying to keep quiet.

Thorn unfolded himself carefully from underneath the table his face flaming by now. For some reason he thought Ime would be mad at him and he felt rather nervous. He followed her out to the critters which were smaller than he thought. " Arnt they supposed to be bigervthan this?"
He reached over and attempted to scratch a curly head. " They are rather cool looking arnt they?"

Ime wasn't angry, exactly. She was upset but angry. So Mama knew now, but at least she hadn't kicked Thorn out upon learning. Being told to go out with the man himself was a far stretch from the disappointment she'd been expecting. Thorn was Leaf and her boyfriend but that hadn't earned him a ticket back to Tale.
When they reached the outside pens, Ime plucked some dry shoots from the ground and slid between the posts to offer it to the capramel to lure them closer. It worked, and Thorn would find himself patting one in no time. Ime continued holding the grass, keeping the beast occupied enough that it wouldn't wander off. She scratched it as well.
"Nah, not really. They're young-ish, but I'm pretty sure they're full-grown," she explained. They certainly looked bigger when you were a youngling. There was a brief pause, and then she turned to Thorn specifically.
"What did you tell her?"

"The truth, I knew she knew I could see it in her eyes. I told her I wanted to be the best for you, but all I can do is try. I'm still me." he shrugged. It was awkward but at least it was done. "I'm not just some rifraff, I'm here because I care for you and your safety." He felt a little confused inside and drifted over to Ime and hugged her, resting his forehead on top of her head. He felt a little shaky now, he was not big on anger or distress.

Ime accepted the gesture, letting the capramel take its prize. It didn't go far, just watching the two embrace in the pen. Ime sighed and wrapped her arm around Thorn's broad back. It had likely been a bit hard on him to admit to his new girlfriend's mother that he had feelings for her daughter. She was proud of him, but her nerves were still frayed.
"I know," she replied softly, stroking between crusted shoulders. "I don't know what I'd do without you here."

"Well if I wasn't here, you wouldn't have this problem, she would probably sit you down at the table and ask if you had met any nice boys lately." he chuckled and kissed her cheek. "I don't know what I would do without you now either, I loved travelling and meeting everyone..besides the recent mishap" He would even attempt to live in Sauti or Zena for their potential trips there, he could experience all the different cultures. He would have to get some heavy duty clothes though.

Ime smiled and peered up to her boyfriend.
"That's not what I mean," she said, reaching up to gently caress his jawline and cheek. Of course she wouldn't have to worry about Mama's opinions if Thorn wasn't here, but that wasn't her concern. Mama seemed to approve. "I mean I'd miss you. You were all I could think about for a while there. You mean a lot to me, Thorn."

He gathered her to him again, "You mean a lot to me to Ime." He loved these moments, the closeness, the mild uncertainty and the odd fuzzy feelings. New to him, new to her and as exciting as anything else. Was this what his parents had, tempered and strengthened by time? He wished that Ime's mother had someone too, more love for all was always a good thing in his opinion. "Has your mother ever looked for someone else? Or have you been it all this time?"

Ime fell into the young man and closed her eyes, relishing this moment of closeness. It was true to say she had never felt this way about a boy before, but was it right to imagine she never would again either? Maybe that was just the fancy of new love, but it certainly felt like reality. So lost was she in the warmth of the moment that it took her some time to realize what Thorn was asking. She'd never really thought about it when she was younger, about her mother's apparent choice to raise her alone. Now she pondered the idea and turned her head up to face Thorn again.
"It's just been us. I suppose she'd had a suitor or two but none of them were around for long. I mean she and my father weren't married or anything. He just left."

Hmm what would he say to that. In the end he didn't he just hugged Ming closer, "I'm surprised shes not more leery, then again I'm not an Iceling am I?" He blew a raspberry on her neck. He waited expectantly for the giggle, she had a beautiful giggle and it should lighten the mood. Perhaps he was overreacting himself, he knew why he was there, he knew her position and her mother's and he was not going to leave her like her father had, big eyed selfish cod. It was probably a good thing he hadn't met the man he would have tried to turn him into a fish cake.

"Well, we have to work with Ice folk all the time too, what with them living so close," Ime replied. "Come to think of it, though, I don't think Ma courted any after. Ah well. She has no reason to--!" The giggle came and Ime pushed at Thorn's face to try and get him away. She didn't feel the same tension he did; her nerves had all been calmed with Mama's gentle reaction.
"So, what do you think? Do you want to stay here or at an inn?"

He grinned from where he was tucked into her shoulder, then she asked a question. "An Inn? No I'm sure I can sleep in the stable or something if there isn't enough room in the house, how else would I get to know your mother? Even a palette on the hearth would work." It would be warm too. "Then again, an inn we would have more privacy." Hmm. "I don't know if there is room in the house for my giant self we could stay here, if not I can do the Inn thing." A room with a bed might be interesting, easier cuddling that way.

"Oh, no, there's room for you. I just wasn't sure where you'd be most comfortable," Ime said with a nod. Her bed may not be big enough for two but it wasn't very complex. They could extend it easily. Hopefully Mama wouldn't give any annoyed glances. Ime was well aware she had grown beyond the age of being under her mother's rule, but that didn't mean she wanted to disappoint her. "An inn would be more private, I guess, but I don't think Mama will be barging in anyway." They were respectful toward eachother's privacy and, besides, what was the worst Mama would see? A few kisses?

"Excellent point, she seems very down to earth, hasn't chased me away with a cleaning instrument yet." Thorn chuckled. "Mom goes after dad at least once a week." Thorn stretched and rubbed his cheek over Ime's hair like a happy perzi. "So what are we going to do for the rest of the day, I'm a bit restless. Maybe its the cold wind getting to me." He reached over with one arm and stroked and inquisitive nose.
