"Well, that's something to be grateful for, " and Lorne flashed him a grin that was much the same back, and though it was short and weak, he still laughed. "So you say, but... " He was more or less helpless at both of those, and he'd be the first one to admit it. - as long as Colin still wanted to deal with him though, he was grateful.
At first, he'd been ready to argue, even if his body felt like it was on fire from the exertion by then. But, somewhat shamefully, the kiss at the edge of his lips had effectively turned what was left of his legs to jelly, and he sank down onto the couch with his cheeks burning along with the rest of him. "Okay, " and that was about it, even if his eyes still followed Colin around the room - he wanted to help, even now.
None of this stopped him from gratefully accepting the juice. Just looking at the beautiful drink and feeling the coolness of it through the glass reminded him vividly how thirsty he was after all of that. "A la votre, " Lorne murmured, extending the glass in his hand just enough to hear the satisfying clink between the two drinks, and added a mumbled 'thanks' before effectively draining it.

That kiss had been calculated; it could never be said that Colin wouldn't use everything at his disposal to help someone...even if it was helping them from themselves. Besides, it was pleasant, Lorne was attractive and sweet and reacted in the most charming of ways. Having no argument from his friend was good, since he wouldn't have listened to any protests anyway. Moving around had been much easier with his ankle wrapped and supported, but he was still happy to get off his feet and sit with Lorne for a minute. While they were safe and able to decompress a little. "Man, I am beat. Colin leaned back with a sigh, feet kicked out and half-empty glass between his thighs. "Thanks for getting me out of there when you did...it could have been even worse otherwise." He sighed again and closed his eyes, picturing the senshi that had been forcibly corrupted while they had fought. "I only wish we could've...helped her..."

Lorne blushed lightly at the praise, shaking his head slowly. "I didn't really do much, but... I'm really glad I was able to help you." He laughed softly, tapping his chest lightly with one hand, "Still. I would've have been able to if you hadn't - you know."
He laughed, softly, toying with the glass in his hands, shifting it from one set of fingers to the other and back. "It's sort of scary, " and if he hadn't been so tired, he might not have said it out loud - but there it was, "How vulnerable we are. I hadn't... really realized... " To starseeds being plucked. To corruption. A sleight of the hand could literally be the end of them. Oblivion.
"Me too." But he didn't want to mull over the dark thoughts much longer (although he knew he'd dream them), especially not when Colin was falling prey to them too. He didn't want that. His hand hovered absently in the air for a moment before he gave his - could he call him a friend, now? - anyway, he patted him gingerly on the knee. "I should really... thank you though. I mean, not just for - that - but that was, " he laughed lightly, feeling sort of silly saying it, no matter how much it'd ached at the time. "The last time I answered a call to battle, I - I defended myself, yes, but I... there were knights, senshi, all these people all around me. And I was just - there. If that even makes sense."
It probably didn't. "What I mean to say is, I was glad to see you there. - I'm not good with people, but - I - I don't think this kind of war is meant to be fought alone."

"You got me out, that's a big deal. I mean, I wouldn't have gotten away with you carrying me out. So...to me that's a huge deal. You're my hero." So he'd had to 'save' him first, by chasing his starseed out from under the gym bleachers...that didn't matter. They'd saved each other, and Colin appreciated that. It was true though, that they were extremely vulnerable. "I've...stopped it a few times, like with Ploutonion. It's scary...but that's why we have to watch each other's backs." Colin was looking up at his ceiling, thinking; when Lorne's hand touched his knee he rolled his head so he was able to face his friend and give him a smile while reaching out to squeeze his hand reassuringly. "I was really glad to see you too. It helped." Not because he needed to know someone to throw his all into a fight, but because it gave him strength - with Mont Blonc there, he felt there was at least one person that would have his back, would know who and what he was, if he fell. It was comforting, in a morbid sort of way. "It's definitely not meant to be fought alone...and we don't have to. I mean it Lorne, I've got your back. " That he'd been doing it alone for years was beside the point.

Being called a hero of all things felt - Lorne laughed, "Oh come on now Colin." Although his cheeks flushed with the praise, whether or not he really thought he deserved it. It felt like a glove that didn't quite fit right, but it certainly still warmed his hand.
"So... that's happened to Ploutonion, " he murmured, thinking back to the charming Saturn page. Then he frowned, rather indignantly. "Wait. So. How many times has this happened to Saturn people, exactly? That doesn't quite seem fair, " he mumbled as he leaned back against the couch with a sigh.
It wasn't quite fair to imagine that Ploutonion had experienced what he had just then. Another of this friends... it could happen to any of them really, couldn't it?
Again. He didn't really want to think about it too long and hard.
Hearing he'd helped, more than he was a hero, that felt like it suited him more. Exhaustion be damned, Lorne beamed back at him. "Me too. Any time, Colin - you can certainly count on me." He couldn't do much, of course. But like tonight, he would try, he would give it all he had. "Call me anytime. Really. I mean that."
(Let's be honest, like he really had anything else going on anyway.)

"Come on now yourself. I wouldn't be here if you hadn't carried me out. You're exhausted from Umber giving you the starseed bad-touch and you still got me out of there. And home." Colin nudged him a bit, "Deal with it, you're my hero." His friend was damned cute when he was getting riled up over the idea that so many Saturn-centric people had been through a soul yanking. "I'm sure we're not the only ones, but quite a few I'd imagine. I've seen it twice now. First Ploutonion and now you." Seeing his friend's star seeds wasn't exactly his idea of a good time, either. "I know I can." He'd thought Mont Blonc was a reliable sort when they'd first met...and now? His opinion hadn't changed, it was just less opinion and more fact. Lorne offered to have him call at any time and the blond chuckled, "I wouldn't say that, I'm up before most sane people. Trust me when I say you don't want me ringing you up at five am." Leaning back against his couch again, Colin stretched and then flexed his ankle a bit; it still hurt and he would be getting it checked in the morning. Two weeks, if I'm lucky. I hate sprained ankles, ******** the Negaverse, seriously."So...you have a few options for sleeping." Because the adrenaline was long gone and they were both pretty well exhausted, Colin switched to more practical things than arguing with Lorne whether or not he was a hero/etc. "The couch is an option, but if you don't feel like being alone you're welcome to sleep in my room. And you can borrow some pajamas if you want."

Begrudgingly, he let the praise slide for now with a blush and a sheepish smile paired with a nod, although he still didn't entirely believe Colin - and he didn't even want to broach the starseed talk much more than they already had -
"Five is fine, " he assured his friend with a warm smile, taking a page from Colin's book and leaning against the back of the couch too, still reeking of lavender, yellow eyes tinted red. "I would. I could talk to you, and then watch the sunrise." He laughed lightly, shyly, as though he'd made his own little joke when it really wasn't a joke at all.
Lorne's cheeks burned fresh at that kind of decision, and no, no he didn't really want to be alone, but - he was used to it and he had nightmares, and - "The couch is fine, " he murmured with a grateful smile. "Thank you, Colin. You've been wonderful."

"I'll hold you to that, Lorne." He chuckled a little bit and relaxed into the comfort of his home and company that he rather liked...even if he did smell like detergent (it was good scent, but still - Lorne wasn't supposed to smell like laundry in his face-ular areas). Colin sighed a bit, reaching out with one hand to give whatever part of his friend's arm or leg a bit of a squeeze. "We'll do that sometime. There's a great place for it at my work." "If you're sure." His friend's cheeks had taken on color again, which was interesting and were Colin not so tired, he might have made a concerted effort to puzzle out why Lorne was blushing. "Don't think it'd be a hardship on me to share my room." Not that he was going to push, if Lorne wanted to camp out on his couch, he could do that. "Come on then, You'll need blankets and a pillow. I keep 'em in my closet."

Lorne smiled as he laid a hand, light and tentative as a bird ready to spring into flight, over Colin's. "I'd like that."
"I-it's okay, I just - I want to do whatever's easier for you, " and that seemed like the best answer to give, and surely the couch was the easiest simply because it was out of the way. He bit his lip and held out a hand as though he didn't want Colin to move as he rose. "Tell me what to get. I'll take care of it." He reached out, too, for the empty glass, his own already in hand. "If there's anything I can help with, please."

The hopeful tone to Lorne's voice was precious because Colin knew his friend wasn't like that with everyone, knew it meant that Lorne felt fairly comfortable with him, and was pleased by it. "You say that now." Lorne raised a hand to stop him from getting up and Colin blinked over at him curiously before handing his emptied glass over with an odd little smile tugging at his lips. "Just leave them in the sink, I can get them in the morning with breakfast dishes." "Well, honestly my ankle doesn't stop me from doing much." But he could see how important it was for his dark-haired friend to contribute, so Colin would let him "The spare blankets and pillows are up top in the closet...pretty sure you won't have trouble with that. I'm gonna brush my teeth." And wash his face - he wasn't vain, but he took good care of his appearance and hygiene. Usually. frayedflower I AM GONNA ASSUME WE ARE REALLY CLOSE TO DONE, like get them to bed and over y/n?

"Okay." In spite of his agreement, the sound of running water was heard moments later. "Thank you, Colin." By the time he emerged from brushing his teeth, the dishes would be done entirely, dried, and set on the counter neatly since Lorne didn't know his apartment well enough to know where everything went, and it was one thing to insist on doing someone else's dishes, and quite another to start rifling through their cabinets.
He had, in fact, fetched the spare pillows and blankets - in even in his best effort to set everything up, rather than curl up beneath the blanket, it seemed all the events from the night had finally caught up to him, hitting fast and hard. So there Lorne was, his legs off the couch, but his front half sprawled across it, face buried against the neatly folded little stack of pillow and blanket, soundly asleep.
How he was comfortable, if he even was, was a whole other thing. But there'd be no rousing him tonight.
Syrie LORNE OUT, literally. Feel free to wrap this b***h up biggrin WE DID IT

Colin heard water from the kitchen while he was washing his own face and shook his head - Lorne. Of course. He was stubborn - carrying Colin from battle all the way home even though he had been exhausted from having his starseed bad-touched by Umber - so naturally the guy insisted on doing the damned dishes. Upon leaving the bathroom with the soft click of the light switch to off, Colin noticed two things: Lorne had gotten bedding from his closet...and he'd fallen asleep. Hard. "You dumbass, if you'd left the dishes you might not be face-planted into the bedding." The blond tried rousing his friend - to get him into a less wonky sleep configuration - but it didn't work, so eventually he settled for bodily hefting Lorne into a better position on the couch, complete with blanket covering him. "Good night Lorne." Impulsively he bent to press a kiss to his friend's forehead before hobbling off to bed himself. frayedflower FIN. ******** YES. WE DID IT! YAAAAAAAY!!! biggrin biggrin
