Nellie only realised to her own horror what she had just done when, instead of the hard ground, her elbow was met with something warm and fleshy followed by an "Oof!" that came from Joy. Rolling off the other huntress, she was about to apologise profusely for that when she felt a fresh spike of pain blossoming from her side from where the shovel's handle was aimed at.
< Focus on the spar for now. Use the charges. Apologies can come later. > Niffy grunted.
Nellie nodded. The fire warg had a point there. Her opponents weren't going to pause midway in combat to apologise to her after all. < Let's do it then Niffy. > Getting back up onto her feet, she stretched out her fingers as the claws emerged from the fingertips of the gauntlets then dove in to slash at the other trainee in rapid succession.

In a nerdier life, Joy would have thought this must be what it's like to be on the receiving end of Wolverine's Berserker Barrage. Except she wasn't so the only thing on Joy's mind when the series of slashes came was Ampotang sakit! Cussing, even if it had been restricted to her head, definitely made her feel better about it.
She staggered back, instinctively clutching at the parts that felt the most raw, half-expecting herself to be drenched in blood. Then she remembered, "Oh. Right. We got FEAR shields nga pala." Having a FEAR shield didn't mean she would get biting her inner cheek unscathed and ended up spitting out blood onto the training field.
"Nice body blows, Nelly. You got a boxer in your family?" she grinned, looking exceedingly happy about getting so torn up.
Retaliate.
She wound up her arms as the runes along her weapon glowed. There was no battle cry, no laughter, there was just that smile as she bore down on Nelly in a flurry of multi-directional strikes.

"No. Nellie picked up everything at Deus." Nellie took a few steps back and shook her head, lifting her arms in anticipation of the counterattack that would soon follow. What followed soon after was unlike anything that the Mist had ever seen before as Joy grinned and began tearing at her shield with each frenzied swing of her weapon.
Dropping down to one of her knees, she panted heavily, exhaustion clearly beginning to settle in and cloud her judgement from the way that she rushed the Moon next out of sheer desperation, her swing wide without coming anywhere close to hitting her mark.

She brought down the shovel with one final strike that grazed the Mist. The Moon trainee's frenzy was over as soon as it started. It left Joy more bright-eyed than bushy-tailed oh but that grin was still there as she stared at her opponent, "Daaaaayum, the stuff we learn at this place. Almost makes up for all the other stuff, huh?" Really, Joy didn't have much to complain about the Island. But it felt like the right thing to say to a fellow trainee.
"Don't give up! I know you still got more in you!" she cheered on, despite knowing full well she'd be on the receiving end of any further blows. In fact, she was counting on it.

"Nellie supposes that that's one way of looking at things." Joy was right. So long as Nellie still had strength left in her battered body, she shouldn't throw in the towel just yet. For all that she knew, that might be what would make or break her in dire circumstances.
Nodding at the other trainee's words, she quickly got up, lowering her body and charging towards her this time in the hope of catching her by surprise and tackling her to the ground. If she managed to time things right and knock her weapon out of her hands, she just might stand a chance of emerging triumphant yet.
