It shocked her to learn that Maya had almost lost Teiluj. It also made V'demhe uneasy. She really didn't like that. "Anytime you want to travel home to see our mother, you can call on me to look after Teiluj, Sister." It was the first true time that Dem had show her full respect for the woman. Both as an older Alkidike and as a sister.

With a deep breath she hurried along, doing her best to keep her discomfort hidden. It wouldn't do to let Maya see that she was weaker than she let on.

Maya chuckled more to herself than to V'demhe but the sound had been vocalized. "I appreciate that sister, but you know Teiluj and that oban. Perhaps you can help me by keeping an eye on them. He looks weak and easily manipulated in my eyes. And I can't have him leading her into a trap." Maya had never been one to hide her dislike of the oban. And even as time went on she wasn't getting any better at tolerating him either. In fact her own actions had slowly become more aggressive, he could walk, he could move think and act on his own. So why was he still clinging around her daughter?

She didn't like it not one bit. Lost in her own thoughts it wasn't until some time later, when the sounds of the forest grew quieter that Maya stopped in her tracks. Whirling around to face V'demhe. "You didn't tell me to stop for food!" She looked mildly irritated at that before sighing and calling to Pacju. Once the radaku had returned to her side she started fishing through her bags. "Teiluj's probably packed medicine like I said this morning. You should be taking it. I don't need her getting upset with me for failing to make sure you take it."

That made her think. V'demhe didn't want to see her friend hurt by the Oban that she was helping. While she wasn't particularly against Obans she certainly wouldn't tolerate one trying to enslave or harm someone she cared about. It wasn't until Maya whirled around on her and seemed irritated that she realized the time. It was marked by a rather loud cry from her stomach. Oh, sorry, I was lost in my thoughts.." She nodded her head about the medicine and called Maha closer so that she could dig into the pack and find it.

Maya seemed to completely relax at V'demhe's apology and settled down to eat the food that had been stored in her bag. Searching for a tree to lean against Maya slowly chewed on the food in her hands. "It's alright, I should take part of the blame. I wasn't paying attention either." Chewing slowly she once again fell silent. She was never the kind to talk, and communication was rare, she was more the type to communicate through actions. Words seemed useless and wasted most of the time even for her, she understood actions and body language better than she did words. It had helped to ease that she was speaking with another Alkdidike.

Leaning her head back she smiled. "You know, if you ever want to talk to Teiluj without the earthlings knowing what you're saying. She does know our language, the language of the trees. I taught it to her when she was a youngling. I made sure it was the first language she learned."

When she had the medicine she made sure to consume it first before she moved on to actually eating food. V'demhe lowered herself to the ground not too far from Maya, though she didn't lean against a tree, she was afraid that doing so would open her wounds and she didn't want bark to get in there. Slowly Dem began to grin as she shook her head at Maya. "Sneaky. I'll keep that in mind if I ever want to annoy the Oban." After all, she had agreed to be just friends with Teiluj, but she hadn't agreed to not tease her.

Her eyes drifted to Pacju and she studied the radaku for a moment before she spoke. "Is that the same beast that I rode on when I was a youngling?"

Maya's eyes shifted to Pacju and looked her over before nodding. "Yeah that's her, good old faithful Pacju. I found her when she was a tiny pup not yet ready to leave her mother. I found her with two other pups like her but the other two didn't make it sadly. It's really hard taking care of three babies at once. So I was sad but not devastated at the loss of the two. I then focused all my energy on helping Pacju survive. She's been with me ever since, bonded the moment she opened her eyes."

Reaching out Maya stroked the back of her companion. "She's also been really good to Teiluj, not as obedient mind you but she will listen from time to time. She's even found herself a mate out there somewhere and given birth to a litter. You remember Tao and the others his age?" There had been five pups there when V'demhe had spent time healing at the house. One was Tao, Teiluj's companion another belonged to Nkole the rest still wandered having not yet bonded to anyone. "Thos are her pups." Maya nodded giving her companion another pat. "And your's where is it from?"

She smiled at the radaku. V'demhe wondered if the beast remembered her. As Maya mentioned Tao she nodded her head. She did remember him. He'd run away from her when she was a kid, the little scare-dy cat. "I'm glad Pacju survived for you." It was similar to the tale of how she'd gotten Maha. Just as she turned her gaze toward her blue familiar Maya asked about him. A soft smile formed on her lips and she reached a hand out for him. The big goof moved closer to her and started to nuzzle up.

"I found his mother in the forest laboring to push him out. I did my best to calm her and help out but she was too weak to survive. So once Maha was born I claimed him and made sure he lived." Dem looked back toward Maya. Her familiar now resting his head on her lap as if he were a child. "He's quite the goof ball."

Maya's face twisted at the thought of labor. Her own Radaku, pacju, had gone through that horrific event to give birth to nine pups. Seven of which were boys the remaining two were female. But that also explained the strange behavior, pacju had been expected to return at some point to the forest. But she never had, though she did from time to time leave to find others she could play with. Perhaps that was what kept Pacju 'normal' as normal as she could be anyway. Pacju had fit into a strange pack just outside Ast. That alone made her wonder if the pups themselves were going to fit into that pack if they didn't bond to anyone.

Maya rolled her shoulders and closed her eyes. "If you're tired now is the time to sleep." Maya muttered as her own mind seemed to drift away from her.
