"You are a big flatterer. Do you know that?" Kani questioned, chuckling as her face reddened even more. Boy was this guy a smooth talker or what. The mention of a kiss and all this first date business really had Kani flustered to the point of stuttering, and she didn't know what to do with herself. The boy was just so forward! "B-back to business t-then. We could go collect shells or maybe go to the tavern in the village. It's up to you."

When she told him he was big on flattery he nodded his head. He'd been told as much by his aunt. "A tavern? Whoa, Whoa, taverns are for the third date at least." He grinned at her. Hearing Kani's stutter was kinda cute. "I think collecting shells is a better idea." Gael chuckled softly.

"Then we'll shell hunt then! It's a good way to pass the time and it'll give me a chance to get more for my little brother," Kani agreed quickly, avoiding the third date he mentioned. Gael was good at getting her flustered it seemed. While it was probably fun on his part she was not one to usually get so shook up by what someone said. She was supposed to be calm and collected! Not a flustering little girl! She would have to calm herself and come to her senses to look for shells like she needed to.

"Ah! The beautiful Kani is a big sister." He commented. Gael was an older brother as well as a younger brother. It made him wonder if Kani had any older siblings. "What kind of shells do you want for your brother? Or will any do?" His little sister only liked the ones that looked like a swirl so he knew people had their favorites. "Do you have a favorite?"

"Oh any will do for him! He just really likes it when I give him shells," She explained, spotting a shell a few feet away and leaning down to snatch it up for him. "I like all shells, but I'd have to say my favorite shells are like the ones I have on my top. They're just nice and can be used for lots of different jewelry and such.""What about you? Do you have a favorite?"

So any shell would do for the little brother. Gael nodded his head and took to looking around for some. When she mentioned that she preferred the kind that was on her shirt he smiled. Well that would have been an easy guess. He picked up a few shells, one being just the type she liked, and walked over to her. "I never really thought about it. I think I would like a conch shell best though." When he was close enough to her he gently reached around so that he could hold the shell up to her neck. "It would make the perfect necklace if only it matched your eyes."

"Conch shells are very pretty and always interesting," she agreed. She really enjoyed shell hunting even if it was mindless and time consuming. It made her happy to find little treasures and anything she could give to her brother pleased her. Watching Gael move around her, she was surprised by his close proximity when he held the shell up to her neck. Of course her face decided it was best to heat up when he drew close. She did think the shell would make a pretty necklace though. "You have quite an eye for finding shells yourself, Gael. Do you do this often?"

"My first time, actually." Though he might end up doing it more often so that he could hunt down some shells for his little sister. When he lifted his eyes away from her neck to meet her gaze he took note of how her face was flushed. "Beautiful." Gael was quite serious this time. Kani was very good looking and her cute blush made her even more so.

"For it being your first time you are very good at it. I would've never guessed you hadn't done it before. I often find myself coming out her and hunting for shells when I get stressed. It helps me calm down." Boy was she talking a lot today, and oh how forward he was. Calling her beautiful and saying such nice things made her slightly nervous. What was this guy after? A place to stay for the night or something? No, all he would have to do is ask for that. It was her duty to help and she would willingly, so no need to hide behind such flirtatious gestures. She would just have to ask him. "Why do you keep saying those things? You can't really think that highly of someone you just met, can you?"

"If you are stressed that much then it's a shame." And truly it was. No one should be that stressed out all the time. When Kani asked him why he kept saying flirtatious things Gael gave a smile. "I can think highly of one's beauty when I first meet them, yes." It wasn't like she wasn't pretty. Or did she think that she was ugly? Had someone told her that she wasn't beautiful? Gael gave a small frown at the thought before he leaned away from her and sighed. "If it bothers you I can stop, but let it be known someone should tell you that you are beautiful on a daily basis." The young matori turned his attention back to the sand to look for more shells.

"No I....sorry. If I offended you or upset you with my question I apologize. I didn't mean to," Kani replied quickly, touching his hand to get his attention. There she went making people unhappy because of her cynical nature. She had a hard time trusting people, but she shouldn't voice it so openly and she knew that. Most people weren't as untrusting as she was and gave them the benefit of the doubt. "It's true I am unused to such things, but I never meant to upset you. Here," she paused, wandering over to a conch shell she spotted and handing it to him once she had picked it up. "For you.

Gael blinked. Had he come across as upset? Oh no, this meeting wasn't going so smoothly now. He was trying to think of ways to make it better when Kani brought him a conch shell. With a grin he took it from her then leaned over to place a kiss to her cheek. "Thank you, Kani, but I wasn't upset. Not with you." He looked at the shell he now held and gave a small chuckle. "Shouldn't I be getting you gifts on a first date?" He went back to teasing her as a way to show he wasn't offended.

The kiss on the cheek surprised her greatly, but she was happy to see Gael had picked up his flirting once more. To her it meant things were back to normal. Which was good with her. Hearing he wasn't upset at her even though she had been a bit short with him caused her to smile. He was a good guy, even if she was worried he was out for something else. "You are an interesting guy, Gael," she chuckled, glad that he liked the shell.

A laugh came from him at Kani's words and he gave her a bit of a smirk. "Yeah? Is that a good interesting or a bad interesting?" Gael had to admit he was curious as to what she thought about him. Certainly he didn't want to be the bad kind of interesting. As he allowed his eyes to look around he found another shell, this one closer to the water, and went for it.

"I guess a good interesting. I've just never really met a Matori like you before. You're very easygoing unlike most I've encountered," she explained simply. Gael was very relaxed and not at all jaded like most of their people. It was probably due to the fact that he hadn't been a slave, but even if he had been she felt like he would still be just as sweet. He was generally just a good guy and she liked that about him. It was a good change from how she acted as well as every other Matori she had encountered.
