He cleared his throat and looked as if he was about to say something. But he didn’t. The silence continued until finally he admitted, very quietly, “Aye, lass, I can’t swim.” Then he gave a look that said ‘this does not need to be mentioned again’. Jolly Roger rearranged his eyepatch and swept some of his soggy hair away from his face. “Right then, look at you. You’ve got a mermaid tail and all. Welcome aboard The Flirty Mermaid, lass. Looks like you’ll fit right in.”

It seemed like ages but the pirate finally spoke! He was still so cool! But at his confession, Tsu smiled shyly and bit her bottom lip. She glanced at her tail, ears perking at the name of the Ship. "The Flirty Mermaid?! Me> Fit in?!!!" she squeaked in awe and wiggled excitedly. Could she become a pirate! OH! But.... what if he fell in again.....
Twiddling her hooves together, Tsu smiled. "Thanks mister.......uh....um...but.... if you want... I could........help you learn to swim?" she asked, then quickly ducked her head in case it made him angry again.

There was a long moment as Jolly Roger pondered returning to the ocean and learning to swim, of bravely conquering his fears and being able to show his crew just how far he’d come. Then that moment passed and he said to the young filly, a very definite: “No.”

Tsu looked hopeful for a minute, as he looked like he was considering it. Then he spoke that stern 'No' and the little mer deflated like a balloon.
She wanted to help! So many things to say! But she couldn't. Finally she settled on something she hoped was acceptable. "Thank you for letting me on your ship..." she squeaked softly as she looked around. Her visit was probably nearing its close by now so she'd best take everything in.
But in the back of her mind however, she kept telling herself......she'd be back. Ruriska How you wanna skip to where shes been coming back for a while is ok with me xD <3

Two weeks later found Jolly Roger glowering over the edge of the ship, down into the water at a familiar face. The same time, every day, she was there, asking the same darn question. He let the ladder down without a word, letting his frowning do all the talking.

The little mer grinned, acompanied by a loud "Heeeeee!" as she swam over to the ladder and hooked her hooves onto it. "Hello Mister Roger! You suuuuuuuuuuure you don't wanna learn... just a teeny eeny wil bit?!" she beamed up at him brightly, happiest as could be. She wasn't going to give up on him!

As he had told her every day for the last few weeks, Jolly Roger said: "No- aaah, wait..." Wait? Had he just said wait? He scowled. Not at her but at himself. It had occurred to him that she wasn’t going to stop. She was, if nothing else, incredibly persistent. "Maybe... just a teeny eeny bit."

For a few seconds, Tsunami couldn't believe her ears.
She blinked blankly at the male, mouth open, words half on her lips, head tilted, eyes wide.
Then she shook her head furiously. "Wait wait wait. REALLY?!?!" she squeaked happily, tail splashing about in the water below her as she started her seal climb up the ladder. "Oh oh I promise I wont let you drown Mister Roger Sir!" she nodded happily, eyes beaming.
She meant it too. She wouldn't leave him until she was sure he could at least float and doggy paddle his way back to the ladder if he ever fell over again.

“Yes, yes,” he turned his back on her to hide his smile. It was nice to see her so happy, even if it meant he would have to get into the water, voluntarily. “But not until tomorrow morning. We have a full schedule today. Below deck, lass, and wake the others. It’s time to set sail.” For a gentle sandy cave where he could paddle about hidden from view.

The little mer couldn't grin any wider than she was right now. If she did, her face might just split in two! At his orders she flopped over on deck and gave him a mighty salute! "Aye aye sir! You can count on me!" she all about shouted at him as she bounded off excitedly towards the lower deck.
Tomorrow, that pirate would learn to swim, Tsunami Waves would make sure of it, no matter how long it took! Ruriska Yis aahh good place to end thankoo bby <3 He's so presh.
