Once things got started though, Fangite wasted little time. "They just spent how long in these damn mountains hiding from you. Do you really think they'll take you up on that offer?" He said, dropping the body of the Squire. "This is ******** pointless trying to bring them over. It's not like we could corrupt them anyway. Just take them out." Was he really arguing with a General? Yes. Yes he was. Mostly cause he was tired, but also cause Natron was being a dumbass.
"Do you have that damned cat yet Airi." He called.

"Because," Natron said, as he slid from the two corpses before him to another Page, this one of Mercury, and slid his hand into her back to extract her starseed, "Guardian Cats are rare and useful creatures, and I'd like to leave it with the local General-Queen to corrupt. And because I really don't want to murder a cat, come on."
Clearly these Knights weren't at all accustomed to fighting anyone with combat experience, let alone two people who could casually hold a conversation while killing them all. There was a lot of frenzied running around, and not a lot of actual attempts at fighting back.
Airi trotted in, when Fangite called, with a very put-out looking Guardian Cat held in his mouth by the scruff. The cat was hissing and yowling, trying to scratch his muzzle, but Airi - looking pleased as punch with his catch - just sat down, tail wagging on the ground.

"Because." Fangite mocked, throwing up his hands and imitating the General in a high pitched, whiny voice. "Coulda let me do it or ya know. The youma. But noooo. Our trophy prize is something that has a resting b***h face. Fantastic. If the branches Queen kills it anyway, you do not want to know what will happen at that point."
"Christ. These guys aren't doing s**t. Seriously, how was it our people couldn't find a bunch of headless chickens, because that is all I'm seriously seeing at this point." As if to punctuate Fangite's point, one of them ran at him screaming and flailing their arms about wildly. The Captain downed him easily enough with a cloths line, before shoving the bladed weapon through it's temple.
He snorted irritably as the Youma stared at them, cat in mouth. "Of course it's conscious, and not bleeding." Not dead. "Stupid furry hellspawn. I'm officially over cats."

"I know," Natron said, "this is embarrassing." He teleported again, catching another Page by the hair and slicing his throat open with ease. The corpse hit the ground with a heavy thump. "Didn't get the sense that our fellows here do much fighting, though - maybe a little magic and some aura masking was enough to throw them off." Apparently, at least.
"The last one, Starshine? And then I can teleport us back." Was it cheating a little, to use the nickname he usually used for Des in much more intimate contexts? Absolutely, but he was trying to worm his way into his boyfriend's good graces again. He casually popped one of the starseeds he'd pulled into his mouth, to ensure he had the energy to manage it. He'd been tired, before, but the rush of energy made sure he wasn't.

"Embarrassing is not the word I would go for here." The Captain grumbled. Some branch this was. It definitely needed to get reworked. Perhaps they would tell Laurelite.
"I am in no moods for you pet names!" He roared, whipping around to pointing both a finger and his weapon at the General. He then turned on his heel and stormed after the one straggler in a flurry of curses and threats against humanity. "Should have just unleashed a horde of youma into the mountains!" He hollered.

Natron flinched. Whoops, Fangite was obviously angrier than he'd thought. Oh well -- they would finish this, report in, and then go home and never have to worry about this godforsaken branch of the Negaverse ever again. Also, never accept any more ill-defined out of state missions.
Fangite dropped the last one amid a flurry of swears, and Natron chose to briefly ignore his suggestion of sending a fleet of youma into the mountains. "Ready to get the hell out of here?" The General asked, going over to Airi and resting a hand on his head. The cat's claims and struggles had mostly ceased, and it had settled for glaring at them. "Because I know I am."

"I KNOW I didn't just here you ask that." Fangite seethed, storming over. The Captain scowled at the cat. "You will shut the ******** up and cooperate or I will shove this so far inside you, you will need to be turned inside out in order to retrieve it."
What? Natron never said he couldn't threaten the damned thing.

Natron rested a hand on Fangite's shoulder. "I recommend listening to him," he addressed the cat, "it's been a hell of a time chasing after your little lot, and that's basically entirely your fault."
At least it was over. The whole group vanished from the woods, leaving behind nothing but corpses.
