Cassandra smiled softly. "I know it will pass...it just doesn't make it any easier now." She turned to look at him and after a moment went to his side. "So let's make something with this cheese." She patted his shoulder lightly before moving away again. "Why don't you take us off a nice portion and I'll see what else we have to work with."

Merrick blinked as Cassie replied, startling him. "You understood me? I've only found one of the brothers here that speaks Old Gaelic," he said softly in surprise. He exhaled softly, thinking hard. "O que isto significa? Podería ... Non estar só?" he murmured. As he spoke softly, he sliced a eighth of the foot and a half diameter wheel of cheese using nothing but light, grazing touches. A faint, soft blue aura clung to his fingers yet he could cut the cheese quite easily. He heard the squeak of the water pump, not really noticing Cassie near the washtub. | Location -- Kaemoor Abbey - kitchen, Scotland || Emotions - Confused, startled, stiff."Speech"

Cassandra smiled as she looked over at Merrick. She had gotten some water for them to cook with. And some to drink of course. "I could not be alone. Perhaps that is so, but most times it feels that way doesn't it?" She took the pail and set it on the small table. "Falo moitas linguas. Miña nai insistía nel. Vostede fala outros?"

Merrick grimaced slightly as his stiffening muscles protested. "Difícil non incorporarse idiomas pouco comúns. Eu tamén .... visto cousas estrañas ... como o que está na superficie non é realmente alí," he said softly, unaware that most demons who blended in regularly employed glamours that hid their true nature. "Eu non coñezo a ninguén máis que puidese explicar as miñas habilidades estrañas," he murmured. | Location -- Kaemoor Abbey - kitchen, Scotland || Emotions - Confused, startled, stiff."Speech"

"As cousas raramente son o que parecen," Cassandra replied as she looked at Merrick. She moved next to him and gently took his hand in her own. O ben eo mal. Cómpre facer a elección para si mesmo. Se precisa de axuda. Estou disposto a ensinalo a usar e controlar calquera poderes que ten." *From what I have seen it is magic. The fact that you don't seem to notice that you are doing it is simply amazing. It's raw, powerful. You just need to learn to control it and the things you could do would be amazing. Many will come at you, trying to turn you to their side. Both good and evil. You need to make the choice for yourself. If you need help. I am willing to teach you how to use and control whatever powers you have.*

Merrick blinked, looking both startled and mildly confused. "Máxica existe? Eu xa oín cousas estrañas, considerando-se... Eu daría benvida axuda comprender eses ... trucos estraños," he started as he exhaled softly, a swirling sphere forming in his hand; it looked like dozens of rapidly swirling tendrils and vortices contained within a spherical shell of pale icy blue light. "Eu aínda estou pegando o xeito de algunhas das cousas que podo facer, aínda que sei que algúns dos que é controlada por canto ou quão pouco eu comín recentemente ... que por desgraza eu teño moi pouca habilidade no no momento," he said softly as the sphere faded away into a spiraling breeze; he'd gotten the hang of dispelling it, fortunately, rather than blowing it up... which he did have a few scars from. | Location -- Kaemoor Abbey - kitchen, Scotland || Emotions - Confused, startled, stiff.*Magic exists? I've heard stranger things, considering... I'd welcome some help understanding these... strange tricks. I'm still getting the hang of some of what I can do, though I do know that some of it is controlled by how much or how little I've eaten recently... which sadly I have very little skill in at present,""Speech"

Cassandra chuckled as she pulled her hand away from him. She held her hand out, palm up and a light began to form there in her palm. It slowly grew, becoming larger and more brilliant. When the light finally faded a simple red rose sat in her palm. "Magic is everywhere. Most people fail to see it because they either have absolutely no ability for it, or they fear it. For people like you and me...it comes naturally. It is what we call a natural witch. Although you....there is something else in you that I cannot place. But first I will show you the simple basics of cooking. This way you are no longer hungry all the time."

Merrick looked thoughtful before he blushed at her comment about 'something else in him'. "I guess seeing... a demon's true form when they don't want it seen is... abnormal?" he said softly, thinking. He could make oatcakes and tea, as well as a few herbal poultices to accelerate healing, but he wasn't very skilled in anything. He heard a banging noise behind them coming from a sealed ironwood door with thick and darkened steel bands over the door. "That's odd... that door has been sealed so nobody could open it for as long as anyone here can remember... even the oldest of the monks here say that they've never seen it open up," he said softly, noticing flickers of soft emerald and sapphire light coming from under the door, which he knew wasn't normal at all. | Location -- Kaemoor Abbey - kitchen, Scotland || Emotions - Confused, startled, stiff.*"Speech"

"No, it is not normal." Cassandra smiled as she looked at him. "We see things a lot differently than most." Her gaze followed Merrick's as she heard the sound coming from behind the door. Her head tilted to the side as she moved closer to it. "Never been opened?" She murmured softly as her hand rested against the door. She looked over at Merrick. "Why don't we try it then?" Cassandra was curious to see what was making the sound, and the light come from underneath the door.

Merrick moved closer to the door cautiously, touching the ironwood. "I guess so. though we have no idea what could be behind it," he said softly. Something about the wood, or possibly what was behind it, was making his fingers tingle and itch. He had no idea that, within an outer ring between his shoulders, rested a more... complex binding seal meant to hold back his true powers. He did, however, notice something odd. The banging, at first, had sounded almost like a baseball bat against a wooden door, but now it sounded more like a church bell or gong since they were closer to the door. | Location -- Kaemoor Abbey - kitchen, Scotland || Emotions - Curious, hungry, wary.*"Speech"

"So strange. I hear bells ringing," Cassandra murmured as she leaned closer to the door. She didn't have a sense of fear while close to this, but she also knew that some feelings could be deceiving. She didn't have much more time to think about it because as soon as hers and Merrick's hands were on the door it began to glow with a pulsing light. She heard a click and the door moved slowly towards them.

Merrick tilted his head when the door began to open; he wasn't scared, more... cautious. "Strange. First it sounded like a wooden hammer on a wood door, yet now... it sounds almost like the bells here," he said softly, taking a deep breath. To their surprise, it looked like a forest behind the door, with earthen paths and the sunlight streaming through. | Location -- Kaemoor Abbey - kitchen, Scotland || Emotions - Curious, hungry, wary.*"Speech"

Cassandra's eyes widened as she slowly stepped through the doorway. "This is...amazing. So beautiful." She said in awe as she took in the lush green forest and the bright sunlight. The paths were so natural and made her want to run along barefoot as if she were still a carefree child.

Merrick slid one sandal off of his foot as he stepped through the doorway, not noticing that it began swinging shut almost immediately after he stepped through. "The air... it's missing that... subtle sickness to it," he said softly, unaware that it was rare amongst even witches to sense the elements as if they were part of oneself. His eyes slid closed as he could feel something he couldn't explain flowing around and through him. | Location -- Kaemoor Abbey - kitchen, Scotland || Emotions - Curious, hungry, wary.*"Speech"

Cassandra hadn't really paid attention to the fact that she had slipped off her shoes, leaving them by the now closed door. "It's as if sickness and evil have never touched this place. A well hidden oasis of pure joy and tranquility." She moved further into the area, breathing in deeply the sweet air. It was so refreshing to be in a place like this.
