Quote: Rolling a 1: You accidentally slip, almost fall to your demise off a mountain cliff, and drop some of the food! Roll 1d6 to see how much food you lost. The sudden appearance of the wolf had Shoebox backing up in nervous fear. And, quite abruptly, Horace was falling. Because Shoebox was the worst of horses. His hands reached for the twin anelaces sheathed at his hips even as he toppled. But Horace was too off-balance to be of any help. His out-stretched hand found, instead, a... roll of bread. He hit the ground with a bone-jarring thud, half of his body dangling over the ledge. Almost forlornly, Shoebox turned his head and neighed plaintively at the bit of food that rolled down and down and was lost forever. By the time Horace levied himself up, the wolf had retreated. With an apology, he tossed a roll of bandages to Tommy. "You know, I'm sure I can find a gag somewhere for that big mouth of yours." His smirk faltered for just a second. Was that a weird thing for him to say? QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 41/64 YOUR HP: 30/30

Thomas caught the bandages in one hand while his horse continued to dance around, letting out small, distressed winnies and snorts. "Thanks." He sighed, gratefully, and then paused at Horace's comment, blinking a couple of times. And then he burst out into fits of laughter. "Ah, I guess I walked right into that one, didn't I?" He grinned, shifting in his saddle to dismount and put his bandaging skills (of which he had very little) to good use. ---- Time passed, and they entered the forest once more. At some point, Tommy thought he might be falling ill, but after passing a bit of gas, it turned out that he was fine. More than fine, really, as he stumbled across a box of good in their path, much like Horace had done the first time around. Not that they really needed it, though. It was just more for Horace to potentially lose later on, again. Still, he unpacked it and added it to their food stores. "Waste not!" He commented, though he had to wonder who kept leaving food lying around. Lost by past questers, perhaps? QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 32/73 YOUR HP: 20/30

Quote: Rolling a 3: Your horse gives up on you, running away. Every turn you take, you must subtract another additional 5 food from the caravan. "Hook, line, and sinker, Tommy." He chuckled, feeling quite light-hearted. He hummed as they traversed the forest, a song about some tavern wench. He almost expected to get in trouble for even thinking about such a bawdy tune, but from who? Shaking his head, he watched patiently as Tommy approached the box. Unfortunately for Horace, the creak of the box combined with what Shoebox must have thought was an especially sinister leaf caused the horse to bolt. Horace was left, quite abruptly, in the dust. He blinked and spat dirt out of his mouth. "Damn it." QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 41/64 YOUR HP: 30/30

Thomas shook his head, still amused but now fairly sure that he'd better not say anything else lest he dig himself a deeper hole. But when Horace somehow managed to be thrown from his horse again, no matter how much he tried to stifle it, he couldn't help but laugh once more. "I'm beginning to wonder if you've got a crush on the dirt." He mused, this time not offering his mount to the other man to share with him just yet. No, obviously there was a lesson that Horace needed to learn, and walking when he could have been riding seemed like a good way to teach him. Picking up the humming where Horace had left off, he spurred his horse to continue on, forcing the other man to follow or be left behind. ---- Again, they reached the mountain, and again, Thomas dismounted, leading his horse into the opening. Again, he triggered the trap that sent snakes slithering after him. Apparently, despite feeling that Horace needed to learn a lesson, Thomas didn't learn anything at all. Cue much shouting, flailing, and many profanities as he booted it through the mountain as fast as he could go. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 32/73 YOUR HP: 10/30

Quote: Rolling a 4: You hear a horrific roaring noise and when you look behind you you see a terrifying beast made of fire chasing you! In your horror you lose half the remaining caravan food. Unfortunately, Tommy's loud reaction to the snakes (which was, at least, warranted) caused something else to show up. Something big. Something fiery. "By the Great King - Tommy, keep running!" And Horace took off, pack bouncing comically on his back as he ******** booked it. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 18/64 YOUR HP: 30/30

Tommy ran. Oh boy did Tommy run. One glance over his shoulder at the great, fiery beast that was coming after them, combined with the horrendous amount of snakes, was enough to make him run all the way out of the mountain and up the highest hill, where he finally stopped, his horse already having gotten there ahead of him and having bent it's head down to graze. "I think...We made it..." He panted, having a look around. Oh. Hello old man. Laden down with food from the "wizard", Tommy approached Horace and gave him a firm clap on the back. "Mission completed!" Was there ever a more beautiful sight then the artifact....armor...whatever, that awaited them? QUEST STATUS Food remaining: YOUR HP: 10/30

Quote: Rolling a 6: An old man claiming to be a wizard hands you some food. Thanks, you guess? +10 food. "I can't-" he wheezed unattractively. "-breathe! Damn. If I never meet that thing..." A strange old man had approached Tommy and Horace watched, somewhere between concerned and bemused as he offered Tommy food.... what. And then then old man was loping over to him, his gait strangely youthful. "You've made it, my boy! It's dangerous to go alone so, take this~" Horace's mouth popped open in disbelief. Had... had the old man sang that end part? He accepted the food warily. "Grab your destiny..." he whispered and then slowly, ever so slowly, walked away. Horace gaped after him for a bit and then shrugged. They'd succeeded, he guessed. "Tommy, I think I need a drink." Greater Tabard of the Wererabbit acquired!
