[ step one ]
He had managed to get his hands on a glorious amount of food for this journey, mostly because he knew his former horse's history with dropping supplies for no good reason. It seemed his new steed had the same trouble. They made it to the base of the jagged mountains without incident, but as soon as Franks caught a glimpse of his first cliff, he panicked, bucking like he was on fire.Quote: Rolling a 1: You accidentally slip, almost fall to your demise off a mountain cliff, and drop some of the food! Roll 1d6 to see how much food you lost.

[ food lost ]
"Dear Franks!" Mmur yelped. "I will save you from death if you cease your jumping about!" He tried very hard to deepen his peppy tenor into something more sonorous, in the hope that if he sounded like a knight, he might be treated like one. It actually worked, but only after about seven minutes of intense bouncing and wild neighing. Franks slowed to a stop as suddenly as he'd started his fit, and Mmur clung to the horse's neck as he tried to catch his breath. He was aware that some of his food was missing, but frankly, he didn't care.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 30/32 YOUR HP: 30/30

[ step two ]
As it turned out, only two small pouches of a nondescript, tasteless nut had been sacrificed to the mountains, and they certainly wouldn't be missed. The treacherous path evened out long after Mmur had stopped to recount his supplies, giving way to the now-familiar forest. He had been plagued by many hardships upon entering these trees in the past, but none of them had been at the hands of the elves that reportedly lived here. Even now, the space was silent.
"Elves?" he called softly. "Spiders? Are you here?"Quote: Rolling a 4: You catch some medieval version of dysentry and feel extremely sick. You need to be sent home IMMEDIATELY (QUEST FAIL for that person, they will have to retry again either single or with another group).

[ step two reroll ]
Instead of an elf or a spider, Mmur once again saw the giant brown and red monster out of the corner of his eye. He gasped and faced the creature, but there was nothing there.
"BEGONE, DYSENTERY!" he shouted, unsure as to why he did so. Franks turned an ear as if to say, 'you okay, bro?'
Mmur wasn't sure if he was. The next time he saw something out of the corner of his eye, it was an abandoned parcel of food. He gave Franks most of it, keeping an inexplicably perfect orange for himself.
"For the scurvy," he told no one.Quote: Rolling a 2: Someone seems to have left food on the road for you! How nice! +10 food. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 40/32 YOUR HP: 30/30

They were taking a break in the ominous underground maze when Mmur felt a distracting rumble in the air around him. Franks looked up as well, and the man and his steed turned to each other simultaneously as the rumble turned into a roar.
With a strangled shriek of panic, Mmur hopped onto Frank's back just as a very angry and very on fire creature rounded the corner and gave chase. Franks ran instinctually and impressively toward the exit, and when he burst from the mountain's peak, both he and his rider bellowed in joyous unison.
The creature did not follow.Quote: Rolling a 4: You hear a horrific roaring noise and when you look behind you you see a terrifying beast made of fire chasing you! In your horror you lose half the remaining caravan food. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 20/32 YOUR HP: 30/30

[ step four ]
Unfortunately, at some point during their grand escape, they'd lost half of their remaining food. Mmur frowned a disappointed frown at Franks, but that frown turned to shock when he noticed what the horse was standing in front of.
A hat. Or rather, a helm.
Mmur felt connected to the protective headwear in a way that he rarely did when it came to clothing. He stepped around the horse, holding his eyes open wide so the treasure wouldn't disappear when he blinked. It was no Great King, but it was certainly worth the trip.
At least until the eagles showed up.Quote: Rolling a 1: Giant unexplainable eagles start attacking you! Ow! You take -10 damage for yourself. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 20/32 YOUR HP: 20/30
