Suluksati growled a little – he was clearly a very willful child – but listening was all she could ask. She could not force agreement – not true agreement, anyway. Fear and violence was a temporary solution, one that saw her hunted by bounty hunters and scorned by her own kind. She wanted to be understood, craved it like a drug. She rumbled, “Your nature, you say, is to progress and gain power? There are other better ways to do that. There are other, better, things to hunt that will give you power. More than a dragon would, even.” She lashed her tail, “But that is the problem, is it not? That you are steeped in the idea that dragons give you power, that other creatures are mere practice or prey? Those creatures are managed so that they are always present, always a source of food...” and material, she supposed – magescians did all sorts of odd things to their kills, “but dragons are not. If dragons are your source of power and progress, what happens when your hungry culture devours them all?”
